Name: Suiirentalith or less formally, Taliath. The name means ‘Home of all the Suiire’
Region: Yuuzhan Vong Galaxy
System: Laz’tyre
Suns: One dying white main sequence.
Orbital Position: 4th planet.
Moons: One; Huiisada.
System Features: The other worlds of the system show evidence of extensive mining, colonisation and settlement by the Takana
Coordinates: N/A
Rotational Period: 42 standard days.
Orbital Period: 587 standard days.
Class: Terrestrial
Diameter: 10,552km
Atmosphere: Type IV now, once Type II.
Climate: Now a near airless, frozen expanse, but it was not always so, though it was never pleasant. Once Taliath was a world of great winds. Because of the slow rotation of the planet and the vast difference of heat between the day and night sides, great windstorms would rage, causing dust storms dozens of kilometres across.
As there is no surface water, there is no rain or snow.
Gravity: 0.8 standard
Primary Terrain: Arid, especially now. Once though, although arid, with plains, plateaus and mountains, there were extensive underground caves containing water. This was the only source of water on all Taliath.
Now the planet is disfigured by a huge rent in the northern hemisphere centred on the former Takana capital of Antauiire.

Native Species: Takana, various other non-sentient. Now none.
Immigrated Species: Conquered slave species. Now none.
Primary Languages: Telepathic Takana language. Written Takana script.
Government: Once an Oligarchic Mageocracy. Now none.
Population: 0. Formerly over 100,000,000 Takana and misc other slave species and innumerable droids.
Demonym: Taliathani or Takana
Major Imports: Formerly: Minerals, Ores, skilled indentured labourers, luxury goods.
Major Exports: Formerly: Technology, Force infused items, arrogance.
Affiliation: Once the Takana were a great empire of the stars, now their world is broken and ruined.
Major Locations:
  • Antauiire, the lost city. During the final war with the Yuuzhan Vong, this city was the target of an apocalyptic attack. Having trouble overwhelming the stubborn defenders, the Vong shattered the city and the planet’s crust with an unknown weapon. Now the city is no more, and in its place a weeping sore of fire burns.
  • The Pyramids of Akyrus. Now broken and silent, these enormous pyramids were once the home of the leaders of the Takana. Linked into a seven pointed shape by means of walkways and towers, these pyramids towered almost a kilometre above the plain and could be seen from space. Today the area is near the rift and several of the pyramids have collapsed entirely.
  • The Stele of Eternity. An ironic name since the Stele is indeed the only great monument of the Takana still standing, whilst everything else is dust. On it are proclaimed the words of the 13th High Council, and in part reads: Look upon the monuments and cities of the Takana and tremble, enemies of knowledge, for our power is eternal. Indeed. Perhaps the Vong did have a sense of humour after all.
  • The Undercaverns. Once the site of vast lakes, the devastation above caused vast tumults of the earth and broke the caverns, filling them in or exposing them to the harsh light above so it evaporated away.
  • The Ultima Gate. Once the greatest fortress, library and factory of the Takana, it was breached by means of a small asteroid which obliterated the upper levels. The lower areas remain, for the Vong could not reach them, but anything there is now dead and gone.

Culture: The Takana was an extremely long lived race which mainly communicated by telepathy. However, they also had a complex script which they inscribed on stone, clay or metal. Culturally they preferred epic stories, long poems and music.
Takana could live well over a thousand years, their powers with the Force only increasing as they aged. However, their bodies often became even weaker and more decrepit, meaning they moved about using levitating chairs as they passed the millennium mark.
Takana did not eat and drink in the normal sense, and were incapable of doing so. Rather, they relied on radiation, preferably UV radiation to power their bodies. This came as an evolution from living in the harsh white light of their star. They could then store this radiation and use it slowly, allowing a Takana to survive the long nights. However, this could be rather inconvenient, so early on the Takana created items not unlike a tanning bed to ‘recharge’ themselves. These became so advanced before their fall that a single night in the sunbed could last a Takana for a standard week, and portable units were also available. Without this radiation the Takana would weaken and eventually die.
As they were by nature a conservative and aged race their cultural traditions changed very little over centuries and millennia. In art they preferred geometric designs of stunning skill, and often integrated low-level Force items into their designs so the art seemed to shift and move with the mood of the observer.
As a people the Takana respected age, wisdom and cunning above all else. One’s age showed experience and skills of survival in the sometimes fatal world of Takana politics. One’s wisdom, generated by learning and insight, showed intelligence and resourcefulness. One’s cunning showed they were fit to survive.
As they quickly developed droids to cover their own physical weaknesses, the Takana became a master race, rarely doing manual labour or what others would consider work. Even the poorest Takana was given subsidised housing and tasks by the ruling council. To the imported slave races, the Takana were cruel and domineering, and in dealings with outsiders they were usually arrogant and conceited.
All Takana were Force sensitive, as they relied on it to communicate. Their lack of mouths and working vocal cords meant they could not speak. Thus, all Takana were trained in how to manifest their powers from very young.
For the Takana there was a paradoxical love of learning and warfare. The most admired leaders were what might be called ‘Scholar Warlords’, those who had powers of the Force, war and learning which enabled them to reach and stay at the top of the pyramid.
The Takana were universally atheist, but they were not without beliefs. The Suiire was a code of right-thinking which was universally followed. It’s creator was lost to history, but a Takana who followed the code was known as a Takana Suiire. This code embraced not only morals and ethics, but also was a foundation document for the mission of the Takana people; to colonise, conquer and exploit the galaxy.
Technology: Once the Takana had an extremely advanced technological system, doubtless why the Vong fought them so hard. In areas such as hyperdrive, Force artefacts and droids they were incredibly skilled. They were also exceptional metal and stoneworkers, as evidenced by their monuments.
History: Piecing together the history of the Takana is difficult due to the totality of their fall. However, the following is clear.
There once arose a race of bipedal, lizard-like creatures on Suiirentaliath. Under the harsh star and with little to eat, they had evolved over millions of years to use the light of the star to power themselves rather than normal means. Over time the Takana developed telepathy, civilised and grew to dominate the planet. Weak physically, they built machines and eventually droids to serve them. These advanced droids performed many tasks for the Takana, from excavation and mining, to fighting and exploration.

Eventually, the Takana broke the bonds of their planet and expanded first into their system, and then into the galaxy itself. In a corner of the galaxy they built a powerful empire of blood and steel, growing strong through the enslavement of others and the exploitation of resources.

Eventually though they became embroiled in the Silentium and Abominor war for dominance. This struggle, where they tried to protect their interests though diplomacy and betrayal weakened the Takana and meant they were not ready for the storm to come.

When the Yuuzhan Vong began their genocidal campaigns across their galaxy, the Takana were one of their first targets. Relying so much on the machines they hated, the Vong attacked the Takana with particular vehemence. However, the Vong did not have everything their own way. Arrogance and decline may have been symptoms of Takana weakness, but they were still strong. Legions of powerful war machines and Force weapons were used, as the Vong were not yet Force dead.

In the end though, the Vong prevailed and drove the Takana back to Taliath and begun a systematic extermination of their world. Long was the battle, and the Vong suffered heavily before they called down a terrible weapon and nearly broke the planet in two. The exact details of this weapon are unknown, but use of gravitic weapons is a possibility.

With their capital shattered, and later their Ultima Fortress devastated, the Takana were hunted down and purged until none survived.

Now Suiirentaliath is silent, dead, broken, a monument to Vong atrocities.

Notable PCs: N/A
Intent: To create a world and species which would likely never be possible on SWRP normally because of their excessive power. However, making them a broken and extinct species allows their legacy to be known and maybe one day explored.
