Steps in the Dark

After their run in at the library on Voss and her subsequent capture by the Sith. Her inevitable corruption and fall, Jairdain thought of Ronin now and then. While they were usually just passing thoughts, something along the lines of wondering what had happened to him.

She knew there as something different about him. Maybe something similar to her. Reaching out through the Force, as she had taught him how to use telepathy, she sent a request to meet up. One thing about Ronin was he couldn't travel far from Silver space, so Jairdain picked a location close, but not in their territory. A place that was neutral, where neither one of them would have allies or enemies.

It was unlikely, Ronin would even know about her capture. The rescue that was promised had never come. So it may have been kept secret or maybe they assumed she had died. Either way, they would soon know what had happened to Jairdain and she would set the record straight.

Taking a seat at the location she had picked for a meeting, Jairdain waited to see if Ronin was going to show up. She wasn't wearing her Jedi robes anymore and had traded them out for something different. A white tunic or peasant top, black vest and gloves. Her pants and boots were also black. Her original lightsaber was clipped to her belt, but she still didn't really use it.

It was if anything another seem frustrating day for ronin who after having just returned from a brief wandering on his own. Where in after his brief encounter with Jairdain in the Temple archives had helped him seem quite some the demon that haunted him since his return. Where in thru the brief lesson he'd had with her soon after he was able to get a better grip or control of the strange voice in his head. Which, seems at that time he reckons from with speaking with her was due to perhaps his lack of control of his force ability. Which at best thought their lesson was soon abruptly cut short by her being called away for a mission. He no less did his best to take her lesson to heart take the time continue training in between having himself call off to a mission or assign task within the temple.

And yet still he couldn't help think of her from time to time is that even so their meeting was brief he considers her a friend. Which was not something easy for one like himself to admit given despite being welcomed back into the fold and gaining the rank of knight. He could not seem fit in and not shake the feeling of being an outsider in a strange land wearing the face of a stranger he himself was oblivious of. For dig as hard he had and work twice as hard he could he had somehow come to an impasse where. Though it seems he'd gain back most of what he'd lost there seem to be still a part of him that still empty ...devoid of something he dares not seem to know. Of which upon his return not too long ago and he began to ask of Jairdain whom he could not help but worry. Having not seen her for quite some time and still recovering from the guilt of having failed a friend once before. He no less felt was getting anywhere till eventually he was told the truth by one of the other that she fell in battle and that was all he was to know about the matter. Which was hard for him to accept thought given the circumstances that from what bit he was told made him believe what he was said was true. To which end he leaves and head off since then to engage in far more riskier mission than seem not to bode well with the other.

Thinking he had sat out doing nothing for far too long it felt to his time that he actually did something about it. Using all that he had to learn during his time under the varied Master. He would now do what he must rather than what he was told.... which seem for whatever reason seem so natural for him. Engage in traveling far beyond the boundaries he was allowed to and finishing to get his ship updated or repair to make it usable. Wandering as he did without their knowledge for reason of his own. Living and at a time interacting with some not so savvy individual of whom he was able to gather underground intel. Engage him to a somewhat strange chain of events where in while making his return back to the temple supply that it came to him. Though faint at first he could not shake the thought it felt somewhat familiar though strange at the same time.

A message or more like an invitation to meet......for whatever reason or by whom seem unclear and yet trusting his own gut feeling. He turns the ship around and commences to head off towards the call. Where seem to lead to some strange planet he had no recollection of being in but from what he could pull up from the data was a neutral planet. Which seems to suit him fine as he then began to work land his ship under the guise of a simple merc that seems to be just passing thru. Which was not so much of a hard stretch given the fact he was never one to take up the garb of a Jedi and suited him well as it made blending in much easier. With his one working saber safely clipped and tucked under the fold of his coat while the other nonworking one disassembled and hidden within the folds of his coat. He then proceed to walk off after secure his ship to what appear to be a nearby smugglers bar to meet this stranger who call on him.

Jairdain sat at a corner table. Even though she could not see him when he walked in, she knew when he did. Her own face and hair had not changed, just her clothes. Would it to be too much for him to know her? She did not rise up or wave at him, instead she looked in his direction and focused her gaze within the Force on him.

In the year that had passed since they last met, they had both changed. It appeared he had grown a little more secure with who or what he was.

A drink was in front of her which she took a sip out of and set the glass back on the table.

It has been a long time, my friend.

He may or may not sense the change within her. While she would keep it hidden normally, Jairdain chose to allow him to feel her if he had that ability.

It was then once he enters the cantina with a mix of uncertainty as well curiosity given the mode as to how the message had been sent to him. Which on all account was at best what was what brought him out here in the first place. For since last time his return to the Temple much had changed both in him and to those around him. As such it seems was that when before he would not be caught dead risking too much by trusting blindly as he did now. But he did having to grow in control and having a better handle on his skill in the force and some other skills.

Which for now he had all but kept to himself and he had been hard at work trying to get a handle of when the strange message came to him. That although seem anonymous had a somewhat familiar feel to it that he couldn't help but respond to. That eventually lead him here standing on the threshold of some seedy cantina which he entered seem ever so casually. As such none of the regular patrons or the hulking bouncer by the door gave notice of him. As he then proceeds to walk over to the bar that while scouring the immediate area before him that something caught his attention. Sitting ever all by her lonesome self a seem familiar face although he could help take note how something about her seemed sort off. At any rate having seemed somewhat unsure if what he saw was in indeed real given some the strange events of last. That he dare not speak off with the other in the temple and mostly kept to himself he continued to proceed the bar. Drop a few cred onto the bartender direction he then orders up a pint of ale which he took a few tentative sip of. Before eventually proceed to then slowly cross over from the bar towards her whom from the brief of a moment. He couldn't help but swear had been no less look at his direction which such a piercing gaze of what he could only explain was familiarity.

Which no less peak his interest for few if any that knew him well enough or he had allowed to for that matter. Held such a confusingly strange aura other than few he could recall. And then again it was not like he had been anything like who he once was before. Given all that had to happen thus far and all the upheaval or changes, even he himself didn't at times recognize who or what he had become. A changed man no less....not anymore the innocent boy seem so lost or afraid of what lurked in the shadows. He no less seems to slowly but ever so painfully came to terms with the reality that was life. And with it break out of the bound of the haze of that imprison his fractured mind. As it strived to adapt and come to terms with the thing about himself or the past he so eagerly sought before. And that it was at that time in the brief moment midst of him being lost in his thought that her words came to him.

It has been a long time, my friend.

Of which pull his mind as did his gaze back towards her at which time it was then. Find himself standing close enough and barely a couple of arm's length from her. That it hit him with such an impact that it slowly became apparent to him why or what drew him here. That he couldn't help but stare directly at her as a lone thought cross his mind. Of words not so long ago spoken to him.... when he came seeking an old friend of his.... that it was not to be a concern of his before being eventually asked to speak of the matter any further. Which only now confused him so having come to the conclusion given what he was told. That perhaps she simply left and had moved on someplace else. And to now see her here seem in his mind out of place as well sense such a change at same time familiarity in her that. He could help feel taken back as he in his mind slowly fell back to a more guarded stance about all this at first. And yet driven out by curiosity he no less continued to then came sit across from her to reply back seem in the same way as she spoke to him.

Indeed it seems been so long and yet......

He pauses mid-sentence as all the question slowly broke to the surface of his mind in such a way. That he was somewhat at a loss as to what ask her first.....given what if any or little he was told about her since his return.

Jairdain could clearly see and feel the emotions within Ronin. His sense of confusion and curiosity at who had called him here. She could sense he had greater control over himself and maybe a better understanding of who or what he was. Maybe he could even enlighten her. When they had met in the library, he had seemed lost and confused. While he was confused right now, it wasn't the same type.

He almost had a sense of loneliness about him. Like for too long he had been left on his own. In a way, it would be much like herself. Her time captive had spent alone and when she had been visited, it was never entirely pleasant. While no physical had been done, her mind had been shattered and Krest had put it back together in an image he wanted her to have.

Her gaze in the Force followed him as he moved to the bar for a drink. He then took a sip and as he did, he looked at her again. She felt him trying to figure out who she was, what had changed within her and eventually he moved in her direction. His steps were hesitant at first and when her message reached his mind, they quickened. Soon he stood next to her table, close enough to touch. Taking the seat across from her, he replied in silence outwardly. In her mind, she heard his words.

In their year apart, she too had grown up. He would see her actually smile as he mentally spoke to her, but it faded as his words left her mind. The questions he had threatened to overwhelm him. She reached a hand across to him and would take a hold of his hand if he allowed the contact. Her unfocused eyes almost appeared to look at him and she gave his hand a gentle squeeze.

"Slow down, Ronin. Take the time to think, ask and I will answer."

[member="Jairdain"]

It was then sitting across from her and seeing the faint smile upon her face only appear to stir up emotion within him. One which he tried so much to keep hidden knowing all too well the scar or pain that no less was sure to follow. If or when he gave into them as he did once before.....knowing all too well what little he knew of his past now or what he was certainly weighted deeply in his mind. For if anything else much time had passed since and he was could help but still feel some guilt. That he had wrong her somehow.....when despite all that she'd done help him he, in turn, wasn't there when she... at which time with a heavy heart he could no less all but turn his gaze down. While his hand holding the pint of ale came rest flat upon the table.

And that in turn he soon felt her hand reach out towards his....that although under any other situation or in the past. He'd no less retract away from most if not all contact with other but seem not this time. For even though part him sense it....that which was the darkness that swirl about her now. Which if anything gave the Jedi training he'd acquired during his stay in the Temple dictated he one thing. He did not instead keep still and with a show of trust to her as he let her hand come slip take hold of his. That at that time with a gentle squeeze belay what bit of fear, doubt or sadness he felt as he then did his best sum up the will do so. For in that brief of the moment as he held her hand in his that he could not help the faint connection to her. As thru something else than the force.... something far more ancient and innate in him as was in the breath. He could not help but see or better yet since her far past what the light or dark could if only briefly. Before he could guide by the words.... he then pulls back from push any further in respect of her.

"Slow down, Ronin. Take the time to think, ask and I will answer."

Turn his gaze back at her as he then spoke ever so honestly thought it was with bit sadness or remorse.

".....would you ever forgive me? I know should have....but I didn't...mean to. But just the same I guess should know...should be there....as you've been there for me in the past.."

His word then seems cut short for in anything else he felt somewhat embarrassed speak as he had. Blurting out whatever came to mind rather than take the time think it thru before speaking.

Jairdain could see her smile effected him through the Force. A spike of feeling and one he tried to avoid or push away. In the end, he felt guilty. He accepted it when she reached out to him. It was the first time in a very long time for Jairdain to touch anybody. It was never something she had sought out or felt she needed. When they connected though, she realized just how much she had missed the touch.

The last time they had met in the library, she had been younger even though it was a year ago. In that year, she had grown up. She was also fully aware of her emotions and now used them. When they met, she didn't know what to feel. In helping him then, maybe she could do it again.

An odd sensation fell across her, it was as if Ronin was reading her as much as she could read him. It was different though, she just wasn't sure what he was doing. Even though they continued to hold hands, Jairdain felt him pull away.

When she spoke, his gaze returned to her and she looked back at him. Her attention was on him and nothing would distract her from him. She sensed sadness within him now. He stumbled over his words and thoughts, starting and stopping as he did.

"Honestly, there wasn't anything any one person could have done, Ronin. There is nothing to forgive."

Her thumb ran across his hand and while a sith, the part that was in control was more level headed than when she was mad. Ronin had done nothing to her in the past, but be a friend. They had an open line of communication both physically and mentally.

"What do you see when you look at me, Ronin?"

"Honestly, there wasn't anything any one person could have done, Ronin. There is nothing to forgive."

It was then soon enough that her words came and no less caught his attention as for whatever reason he could no less feel some the burden of guilt lift. While he then felt her thumb run across his hand all but slowly let him feel at ease by her side though in the foreground the faint sense of darkness remains. He no less couldn't help not feel either fear or anything untoward against her that he then turned his gaze back at her. Smile somewhat thought part him felt it foolish knowing from past encounters with her that she was without sight. He no less did so for if truth be told he couldn't help but feel the same closeness or connection to her now as he did then. That no matter what either one had faced or experience to elicit that seem a faint shadow of darkness within them. They were at best held a somewhat open line of connection or communication between them that gone beyond simple acquaintance. A mutual trust as well friendship bound by unknown to each a shared dark past....that as he gazes at her did she then speak.

"What do you see when you look at me, Ronin?"

And he, in turn, replied....as held her hand gently.

".....someone who's strength, resilience, and heart hold her true. One who fears neither to walk in the shadows of darkness nor retreat from the blinding light."

Her words appeared to reassure Ronin she held no ill will to him for not coming to her rescue. What bothered her most about that was the broken promise of Arisa. The action she took with his hand relaxed him more and he sat at east across from her. He didn't fear her and she did not want him to.

Though Jairdain could not see his smile, she felt he accepted their connection. Both of them a mix of light and dark, it united them in a unique way. It felt to her like the tendrils of each reached out to the other. Wrapping and binding in a way. A way that tied them together and nothing would separate. Whatever happened between them after today, they would be together.

His answer was just as unique as he was and their bond. While her eyes could not focus on him, she turned her head away for a moment. It took was the equivalent of her breaking her sight of him. The focus returned again after a second or two.

"I no longer know what is true, Ronin. Having tasted both the light and the dark, I just don't know."

Her mind had been manipulated and her memories altered. What beliefs she had were shattered and she was still picking up the pieces of herself.

It then seemed to be in her company however strange or odd it might seem he felt at ease. Enough so that whatever reason he could no less feel a connection to her as if they were in a way of kindred spirit. Though to come from fairly different past were united and thought of odds with much of the world at large. Was neither or dark or light affiliations of which was at best strange or odd for most but not for them. For it complemented their tempered them in each of their own way that comes what may. From here on and whatever fate had in store for them.... would find them side by side. But then no sooner had he replied that she turns and for the briefest moment look away before eventually look back at him to speak.

"I no longer know what is true, Ronin. Having tasted both the light and the dark, I just don't know."

At which time he in turn lift one hand came to rest brush against her cheek as he spoke.

" I know....as I myself have slowly come to realize and learn these past few season since we've parted. That if anything I am one of few left of a people all but seems extinct from a time before the concepts of dark or light existed. That what I thought or held to be true.....bound in half truths or darkness. Yet I fight and strive to move past it and try if anything finds my way past the false pretense and just be who I am.....as I know you too as well. And know I'll always be here with you..."

There was a small silence between them, but it one where she just reveled in his company. One they shared and maybe both realized how connected and similar they were. Her admitting that she felt lost was an opening for him.

His hand came across the table and brushed her face. Her hand came up to hold it there as he spoke. Taking a moment to just cherish and cling to him. This meeting happened when she called out to him to come.

The words he spoke hit a nerve close to her heart. He was one of a few people left of his own. A people that were thought extinct. In a way, it connected them even more as she thought she was the last of her people.

"Neither you nor I have many of our people left it seems, if any. You say you will be here." She took a small breath before continuing, "and that you are finding your way past false pretenses. What is true and what is false?"

She spoke only loud enough for him to hear and realized maybe this was not a good location to be having this conversation. Speaking of the Force, feelings or beliefs may draw unwanted attention. What she didn't know was how to suggest moving away to a place more private. Jairdain had nothing to offer for that here and her ship was built just for one.

[member="Jairdain"]

By that time it seems just being around her had all but ease his mind to know say the least. Knowing whatever the circumstance that what he feared was not be so. That this was real and she truly was there as she then, in turn, came hold his hand there. Draw him in such that he listens as she spoke intently.

"Neither you nor I have many of our people left it seems if any. You say you will be here."

Breathing in briefly as she paused before continued that part him seem began the shift. From a somewhat cautious stance to that of guarded one as from the sideline. Surrounded by the stranger that was to him far he knew was neither friend nor foe ..... for now, sent his sense to become uneasy.

"and that you are finding your way past false pretenses. What is true and what is false?"

And seem before her words were soon cut short take note how her tone of voice as well stance as well shifted. That relying on instincts rather than doctrine he then smiled.Speak ever so cautious to her replied.

"....that it seems to be the case that but I rather that show than speak of it....that is if you would trust me."

Guarded in both words and action has come to the conclusion that it was indeed her. That perhaps she could be the one he could confide that which he'd learned.

As she spoke, Jairdain sensed Ronin mentally draw back and felt him grow uneasy. It only really lasted until she finished speaking. Her quiet tone clued him in that she felt the need to go some place else. Feeling his smile, she returned it. Still holding his hand, she did lower it from her face and rested them on the table.

His own cautious words followed her and she tilted her head to the side slightly. He had never done anything or given her a reason not to trust him. Giving him a small nod, Jairdain stood up. In doing this, she let go of his hand.

"I trust you, Ronin."

Her eyes blinked and the violet hue was unaltered by her touch of the dark. She now just a lonely and confused soul that was seeking answers to questions she didn't even know she had.

It was then seeing her smile back hinted him that she indeed understood at which time steal a glance towards the booth on their left. Steal a glance over into the stranger visor where in from the shadows by the bar he caught a glimpse of whomever it was. A stranger who his sense had to pick up briefly from amongst the midst of the crowd. Though unsure if or what the stranger intention was or to whom they might be spied on he dare not alarm her just yet. So with thinking fast on his feet, he did his best to subtly clue her in with the tone and words he'd replied back to her. Which it seems he figured soon after that she'd understood.

"I trust you, Ronin."

For if anything he'd learn or took from his time alone before Master Coci found him. Was that Cantina much like the one they were in although appeared relatively benign hid much danger beneath the surface. For in the mix of the hapless transient stranger and what not lay in wait at times very unsavory dangerous individuals. Of which either one them could have wrong or come across with in the past who might wish them harm. As she then nods and stood reply back soon after that he stood up himself down the last of his ale. He then reaches over to take her hand and began to lead her away. That as he did so Ronin would passingly steal side glance to check if the stranger he'd take note earlier followed. Which at best he could not tell for no sooner had they moved that the presence he was tracking disappeared. And instead from the sideline would seem other took its place in such way it masks or made his track the stranger harder. For from all side some the other patron seem have taken notice of her as well. And some even became quite bold in that their thought somewhat as given the situation they were in betray them as to what vile thought came to their mind judging from they glance her way.

In which time, given his history and temperament stemming from the scar left by the past he could help feel a faint sliver of darkness rise from him. As his mind seem hell-bent to keep his word of not wanting any harm to come her that the temptation to end them was there. But he relented for now knowing although he could there was no telling what if any the outcome would be.Given what little he could or had yet to learn from his past and instead did his best lead her away and instead turn give that said individual a sharp steely glance. Which most if not all heeded to then back down as the two slip out of there seems unchallenged for now. That is until they come outside of the cantina and fear that they could be followed in turn, began to try to lead her onto the side alley where at best he figured they could lure the stranger out in the open.

Her vision was on a different spectrum than Ronin's, so she could read the people around them. Maybe not their intentions, but more their emotions. While they may look in their direction and glance at them in passing, none of them held any ill will to them. To them they were just two people meeting, talking and walking out together.

He took a hold of her hand and lead her out of the cantina. Any glances that came their way passed over them and moved on. Ronin paused a moment to look at somebody Jairdain couldn't get a good read on. The attention of that person went away and he lead her outside.

Another brief pause and he moved on. Guiding her into an ally, she turned to give him a questioning look.

"What's going on Ronin? You seem on edge..."

A sense of darkness surrounded her and if anybody else were to approach, she would be ready to lash out.

[member="Ronin Wendigo"]

[member="Jairdain"]

It was then while leading her outside down the back lone alley clasping her hand gently yet close when. From the sideline, a presence brushes his sub conscious cold as it seemed devoid of emotion. Made him pause as she then seems to pick up on this shift in him spoke.

"What's going on Ronin? You seem on edge..."

To which he, turn spoke under his breath while keeping his guard on high to her.

"There here....."

His words cut short as from the sideline a lone glowing steel came down to hang but an inch from his face. And with it, a shadowy figures cloth in some strange armor came forth.

"Your a hard one to find .... but then again the Master would be please have you back. No need to fight it....all you need return back to the fold and all would be forgiven......"

By that time two other came out from the shadows come to flank them from both sides catching them in a pincer move. The three stranger then pause once they were in position. With one they suddenly eye her intently no sooner garner his ire at which time in blink of an eye caused him to attack. Sending a force push attack at them before calling his own saber into his hand and as he did so that the fight began. Where in all three came forward to press on attack one after the other in a flurry of activity. As the two on the side brandish single blades and the one one in the middle came forth to wield two in a somewhat niman fighting style

How these strangers were able to keep themselves from Jairdain seeing them was beyond her comprehension. While she knew some skills did this and had started learning them, she was by no means a master at it.

A steel blade came down in front of Ronin and out of the shadows stepped the first figure. His words didn't make sense to Jairdain, but they may have to Ronin. She could feel his desire to protect her which made her mentally smile. While she was a mental fighter, Ronin appeared to be a man of a more physical fighter.

Throwing up as quick of a barrier as she could, she placed one around him and one around herself. Again, she was new to the skill, but did her best to protect them both. He used the Force to push them away and by the time they regained their feet, her barriers were up.

Drawing out her own lightsaber, she lifted one hand and threw a mix of a lightening shock and Push at the attacker on the left and lowered her saber to the one on the right. Hoping he would stop the one in the middle, Jairdain prepared to fight.

Her own saber training was limited to little more than the basics and what she had learned from Karl. His favored form was Form I so she prepared herself with that lesson in mind. They were using blades and not lightsabers, this made that form the best to use. Giving a dark smile to the opponent, she jumped into action. Bring her saber out, she ignited it. The now crimson blade reflected off the walls of the ally and their swords.

Their blades met and stopped. Pulling away, she felt through the Force this man trying to play a mindtrick on her to submit and lay down her weapon. She shook her head at him and brought her weapon up. Boring down on him with her saber, he was able to deftly block her blows, but she pushed him back against the wall. When that happened, he was moving to shove her away, but her saber moved to stop at his throat.

"What do you want done with him, Ronin?"

In the few heartbeats her own fight had taken, the other attacker that she had zapped was waking up. Sending another zap his way to keep him unconscious, she hoped her friend had taken care of the third.

[member="Jairdain"]

It was then in the midst of it all Ronin couldn't help feel the sting venom of the one who spoke's word seem to stoke the faint rage within him that he'd so desperately fought back. Though at first, it seems he'd been somewhat able to win the fight but then again the battle was far from being won. For no sooner had he felt the faint few tentative grasp that he could muster to quiet his mind. That the one before him attacked cause him to be unable hold on to it for too long. Before he could no less feel the scale tip uncontrollably within that he began to find himself on the offensive rather than on the defensive as he'd hope to.

As in the background with a silent nudging from the one attack him that the two acolytes came battle it out with her. Which on all accounts didn't help with what he was trying to achieve at all and instead turn the tide. Tip the scale to instead feed rather than calm the rage within to the point he'd become overwhelmed with the desire to give in rather than holding back this time around. His mind and attention all but wrap in wish the man before him dead ..... blinded in such a rage for him that even as she spoke to him on the foreground.

"What do you want done with him, Ronin?"

That his mind shut down and before he knew it his hand reached out and before he could even react. The man before him began to choke and slowly but surely gasp before eventually, he began to violently shake. As before he knew it the part him that was of his father legacy began awake wherein from within the man began to age before eventually withering into nothing seem nothing but dust. For as much as it was innate for most Kashi to have such a deep connection to the living force so as to make things grow. That it too could do just the opposite and cause one to seem in this case uncontrollably age. And before anyone could intervene he seems had all but ended the man life violently thought it seems did little to quench the rage awaken within. That he eventually turn his attention towards the two remaining assailants that by then although beaten still seem to live. Although by that time with the leader dead slowly seem began to appear awake from some haze state drop the sword in hand. Was about to turn and make a break for it...... that they too met their end. Skewed by the same sword the leader held earlier thru their hearts..... dying in such horrid gasp escape their lip.

Before eventually seem exhausted by the encounter Ronin fell to one knee with his hands fall before him keeps his stead. As with his head bent low as faint glimpse of some seem forgotten past came to him......

Dividing her attention, she kept part of it on the attacker she knocked out, but most of it was on the one under her saber. The actions and reactions of Ronin though drew her eyes. His ability to age the third man was a surprise. Not knowing what all her friend could do, she watched as the once corpse filled with vitality faded and fell to the ground.

The moment her attention was on these actions, the one under her saber took the opportunity to try and run. When he did that though, the sword that had been held by the now dead attacker rose and flew to impale him along with the third. Bringing him and the other attacker to a sudden end.

Turning her attention now to Ronin, Jairdain ran to his side as he fell to the ground. One of his knees down and a hand holding him up to keep from falling, she gently touched him. The new darkness she felt from him was akin to hers, but different. It was more primal and natural than what she had seen among the sith. What was he? It was never a question she had thought of before.

"C'mon let's get moving before we draw any unwanted attention."

She would help him rise if he accepted the offer.
