Approved Location Spango's Bar and Cantina

The Corellian Sharpshooter
OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION

SETTING INFORMATION

  • Structure Name: Spango’s Bar and Cantina
  • Classification: Cantina
  • Location: Blue Sector, Coronet City, Corellia
  • Affiliation: Glor Spango
  • Accessibility: Spango’s Bar and Cantina is found in the Blue Sector. You can access the bar, the arcade, and the mailroom whenever you want, but the storage room is employees only, and the basement is for certain paying individuals only.
  • Description: Spango’s Bar and Cantina is a “reputable” establishment located in the Blue Sector, Coronet City, Corellia. It is easily accessible at street level, and consists of a bar, an arcade, a mailroom, a storage room, and a basement. It is somewhat well kept, but nowhere near as clean as the casino next door. This is just one reason why Glor blackmails them (more on this later).

POINTS OF INTEREST

  • The establishment known as Spango’s consists of a street-level cantina, an arcade and a mailroom in the back, a storage room on the top floor, and a basement. The cantina is a bit on the smaller side, but Spango’s has cleverly blackmailed the next-door casino into letting them expand into the alley. As a result, the bar and the counter seating have been moved to the edge of the room, and the bar expands backwards into the alley. This allows for more seating, and more room for arcade games, which the customers are very happy about.
  • The arcade is located in the back, and three of the four walls are filled with dartboards and holo-games. The remaining wall space is used to house the token machine. The mailroom is of a similar design, with mail compartments covering three walls, and a kiosk taking up the remaining wall space. The storage room entrance is revealed by moving a stack of boxes leaning against the bar wall, which uncovers a circular well with a ladder leading upwards. The storage room itself is neatly organized, with both illegal and legal drinks and food taking up most of the space, and replacement arcade games and tools taking up the remaining space. Many think that the secrecy is unnecessary, but Glor Spango isn’t quite sure what CorSec will do if they discover his storage room.
  • Finally, the basement is where most of the illegal activity in Spango’s happens. The basement is strictly for business and privacy, and you have to talk to and pay Glor Spango personally before you are even allowed to see the entrance. The entrance is the same as the storage room entrance; you just climb down instead of up. Spango’s doesn’t normally have guards, but the basement is under the watchful eye of two large Trandoshans with blaster rifles. The basement is where many of Corellia’s, even the galaxy’s, most dangerous criminals come to discuss business. The room is dimly lit, the space is small, and it’s mostly taken up by three tables. There is a rule against killing anyone, which the two Trandoshans strictly enforce. For added privacy, patrons can purchase masks, which both cover their faces and enable them to talk on an encrypted channel with another patron. Glor Spango does not advise venturing down into the basement unless you are the very tough, secretive criminal type. But if you have a lot of money, that works too.
  • Glor Spango would like to thank you for reading this description, and he hopes you will visit his fine establishment in the near future.

SECURITY

  • Medium: Spango’s security consists of an intimidating Besalisk bouncer, who “takes care of” the main floor, which includes the bar, the arcade, and the mailroom. He also technically “takes care of” the storage room, since the only entrance to it is concealed behind the bar, which is inside his parameters. Basement security consists of two large, tough Trandoshans who carry SR-930 Electro-Fusion blaster rifles. Other than that, there are cameras located in strategic positions all over the property. Finally, an added bonus is that Glor Spango is friends with a high-ranking CorSec official who promised not to raid his cantina. CorSec police stop in almost daily to buy drinks, eat food, and compete in the dart tournaments, and so if they are not raiding Spango’s, they are providing some protection from criminals who might’ve had one too many Moogan Teas.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION

  • Glor Spango came to own the property that is now Spango’s Bar and Cantina when the next-door casino gave it to him for free in order to pay off a debt. Mr. Spango is very good at placing other people in debt, and the casino was more than happy to comply. Ever since their owner kicked Spango out for cheating on the slot machines, Glor has wanted revenge. Plus, Glor Spango has somewhat of a reputation in Coronet City.
  • Well, anyway, Mr. Spango was wondering what to do with his new property when he saw three people come out of a bar down the street, laughing, swigging beer, and obviously enjoying themselves. Mr. Spango decided to turn the property into a bar because: a) Why not- b) He had a friend who specialized in the obtaining of alcoholic beverages- and c) He currently owned a failing arcade, and he could merge the two to save the arcade and make a more successful business. Even better, it turned out that the Blue Sector was in dire need of a good cantina, since the one down the street had just been raided and shut down by CorSec. Glor Spango was worried that his cantina would be shut down too, but then he had an idea that would be appealing to everyone: he was friends with a high-up CorSec official, who would promise not to have CorSec raid his business if he supplied CorSec with names of known criminals. The deal was made, and so criminals and non-criminals flocked from all over Corellia to the new, CorSec-safe cantina. Because of its “safe” status, the cantina became very popular, especially when Glor Spango announced he would be holding Centaxaday holo-dart tournaments. Currently, Spango’s is one of the most renowned businesses in Coronet City, and Mr. Spango hopes to expand in the near future. If Spango’s is destined to be a failing business, it hasn’t shown it- but if Mr. Spango ever runs out of money, he can just blackmail the next-door casino and restart his business.
