OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Organization Name: The Sovereign Suns
  • Classification: Quasi-criminal/paramilitary organization
  • Affiliation: Himm'vaun'merek
  • Organization Symbol: A heavily modified imperial symbol, containing the aurbesh words: "The Iron Sun will rise"
  • Description: The Sovereign Suns are both a criminal enterprise and paramilitary, being based upon the rigid Imperial military system that many of its members have come from. Involved in the slave trade, arms dealing, mercenary work and other criminal activities, what separates the Sovereign Suns from other criminal groups is their belief that they fight an ideological struggle. While many lower ranking members are only in it for the money the upper echelons of the organization believe their sacrifice for the Empire warrants a reward, and instead wish to contribute in a way that enriches them, by using the underworld to supply and arm Imperial warlords and terrorist organizations.
GEOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION
SOCIAL INFORMATION
  • Hierarchy: A criminal organization with Imperial aesthetics the Sovereign Suns draw inspiration from their ranks from both, often being called either one or the other. The ranks consist of the following:
    • Standard - Sovereign Suns
    • Boss - Commandant
    • Underboss - Under Officer
    • Lieutenants - 3 ranks of officers (Ensign, 2nd Lieutenant, Lieutenant)
    • Soldiers - Veterans and NCOs (Sgt. to Sgm.)
    • Associates - New recruits (Pvt. to Cpl.)
  • Membership: The Sovereign Suns consists of roughly 1,152 members, scattered across the galaxy rarely ever all regrouping in a single area. This group ranges from informants to guards but what they all have in common is some former connection to the military, likely either the CEDF or Imperials of some sort. To join this group one would have to first get in contact with an officer and like more legitimate businesses one would submit a CV and be interviewed. The interviewing officer would then vet and categorize the hopeful into a section:
    • Guards Section
    • Flight Section
    • Engineering Section
  • Once in the section the member will become an associate, having to prove his loyalty before being allowed to move further up in the ranks. Officers joining are instead assigned the rank of ensign, a probationary role for 2 years and after proving themselves in a dangerous trial by combat they are promoted and given actual power. Those that fail the trial are simply shuffled down the ranks or removed from the Sovereign Suns.
  • Climate: The Sovereign Suns are a criminal organization and as such are far more unforgiving than the military. Making mistakes could end with your execution rather than time in the brig. Despite this the camaraderie of the Imperial military is still present and as such has become an attractive employment option for Imperial deserters and disgraced officers.
  • Reputation: As a criminal organization clinging onto an ideology hellbent on bringing order to the galaxy the Sovereign Suns are widely despised in all circles. Governments who know of them actively hunt them as criminals and in the underworld they've built a reputation for being hard to work with and a sometimes unbearable superiority complex.
  • Curios: The Sovereign Suns have no set uniform or armour, instead with most members adorning black and red clothing and armour with some reference to their Imperial past, whether they decide to wear their former uniform or instead a more casual dress adorned with medals earned during their service. Each member is provided with a coin, bearing the mark of the Iron Suns insignia and is used often used to discretely notify fellow members they are a member of the Suns.
  • Rules:
    • Like any military, the Sovereign Suns follows a set of rules which every member is to follow. This military law however is more unique in the way it is both unforgiving and more lax. Understanding this is a criminal organization, certain standards are lowered. Most members are disgraced and discharged former imperials so drill is emphasized far less and communication and rules of engagement are significantly more lax. On the other hand, making big mistakes may land a member killed for their actions.
    • The command of the Sovereign Suns also guides the organization based on their philosophy that they deserve a reward for their previous service and that they should be able to contribute in a way that enriches them. They are a necessary evil and they contribute to Imperials in their own way. Their top priorities are providing their services and products to those they deem ideologically fit as well, such as Imperial warlords and minor factions.
  • Goals: Like any criminal organization one of the primary goals of the Sovereign Suns is profit. From their various schemes they attempt to achieve the maximum possible profit, regardless of the expense of others. Their other primary goal is more closely linked to their ideology and that is funneling resources and technologies to those they deem ideologically fit. These individuals range from Imperial Warlords to terrorist groups and it is their own unique way of contributing to the cause.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
After the collapse of the Zweihander Union Vaun watched all that he had worked for break down before him. As underworld and rebellious elements killed his men and raided his homeworld this changed something in Vaun for the worse. He grew colder and more distant, leaving behind his former curious and kinder self. He believed that he should punish those who brought about the fall and the best way to do that was by going underground. Establishing the Sovereign Suns as at first a guerilla force, initially turning to crime to fund his unit, Vaun realized the untapped potential of the underworld. He quickly transformed it into a criminal enterprise and expanded his work beyond fighting rebels. Opening the Cold Steel Labour Camp was the first step, sending all prisoners he gained to the camp. From here he began using his newfound underworld contacts to begin selling the produce from the camp to a list of buyers he had drawn up. As the credits piled up Vaun realized he had found his purpose once more and began expanding operations to begin sowing chaos in the galaxy.]
