OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: Create some genetically modified Rathtars to be used as a terror weapon by TSE
  • Image Credit: Click - Wookieepedia
  • Canon: Rathtar
  • Links: N/A
GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Name: Sotezi Rathtar
  • Designation: Non-Sentient
  • Homeworld:
    Original: Twon Ketee
  • Adopted: Bastion

[*]Language: N/A
[*]Average Lifespan: 1 year
[*]Estimated Population:
  • Initial: Semi-Unique
  • Max: Rare

[*]Description: Rathtars are considered one of the most dangerous and bloodthirsty monsters lurking in the galaxy, and have been capable of horrifying feats of mutilation and death over galactic history. Rathtars have no skeleton and had a body similar to a round slug covered with light-sensitive orbs and had multiple long, tentacle-like appendages that protruded from their bodies. Their mouths were radial funnel-shaped pits lined with rows of razor-sharp teeth, which was used to tear apart anything that was unfortunate enough to be caught by their tentacles. Their hollow tongue could also distend outward, which was used to swallow struggling prey.
PHYSICAL INFORMATION
  • Breathes: Genetically modified to breath in all atmospheres
  • Average height of adults: 1.74m
  • Average length of adults: 6.09m
  • Skin color: Red
  • Hair color: N/A
  • Distinctions: Rathtars of all shapes and sizes are easily identified by their enormous, round slug-like bodies, their multitude of grasping tentacles, the various light-sensing organs on their skin, and their radial mouths lined with a seemingly endless series of serrated teeth.
  • Races: N/A
  • Strengths:
Voracious: Rathtars are vicious kills, beasts that seem to possess one singular purpose to devour endlessly. They're fond of tearing their prey limb of limb, still screaming, before feasting on the succulent meat and blood. Utterly insatiable, they'll never stop looking for their next meal.
  • Pack Hunters: Individually a Rathtar is a terrible creature, but their intelligence only expands when in close proximity to more of their kind. This allows the Rathtars to coordinate as lethally efficient pack hunters, working in concert to hunt and feed.
  • Reproduction by Fission: Perhaps the most monstrous aspect of the Rathtars was their ability to reproduce by fission, not requiring another mate for their populations to swell out of proportions. The genetic tampering conducted by [member="Darth Carnifex"] and [member="Taeli Raaf"] has enhanced their proclivity to reproduce within a short period of time after consuming a meal.

[*]Weaknesses:
  • Force Light: The Sotezi Rathtars were modified via the dark science known as Sith Alchemy, and thus possess a weakness shared by everything wrought for that diabolical art. Direct application of Force Light on a Sotezi Rathtar's skin is enough to cause burns, immense pain, and with enough sustained pressure can even kill one.
  • Specialized Aerosol: In order to cull the Sotezi Rathtars after they've been allowed to swarm an enemy world, the Sith Empire developed a highly specialized gas compound that violently reacts with certain genetic sequences built into the DNA of the Sotezi Rathtars. This compound would be pumped into the planet's atmosphere via aerosol warheads and dispensers, eventually killing and breaking the Rathtars down molecularly until all members of the species had been locally eradicated. It has no effect on another other known species, even natural Rathtars are immune.
  • Eats Anything: Because of the Rathtar's proclivity to devour anything non-Rathtar, the beasts can be easily fooled by something like a satchel of explosives. Chuck a couple thermal detonators into their mouths, and you'll soon have a fresh new paint of green Rathtar blood for your armor.
  • Weak Against Vehicles: While the Rathtars possess considerable heavy resistance against blaster bolts and conventional melee weapons, they can't contend with the durasteel and firepower of tanks, walkers, and repulsorlift combat vehicles. Their teeth, more suited to scything through flesh, can't inflict much damage on vehicle-grade armor plating and their durable hides can only weather so much concentrated heavy fire before being pierced.

CULTURE
  • Diet: Anything non-Rathtar
  • Communication: Sotezi Rathtars communicate via high-frequency roars, incapable of being heard by the Human ear. They can also vocalize hunger via deafening roars, and pain via horrifying shrieks.
  • Technology level: N/A
  • Religion/Beliefs: N/A
  • General behavior: A Rathtar only strives to accomplish one thing in its entire life, and that is to constantly eat and reproduce exponentially. Rathtars can either hunt independently or as part of a pack, curling their tentacles inward to form a ball and roll forward deceptively fast for a creature their size. When they've found prey, the Rathtars will let out a series of ear-splitting cries to alert other Rathtars in the area of the discovery of food. Once caught in a Rathtar's grasp, prey would be torn apart piece by piece and devoured slowly.

A Rathtar's intelligence improves in proximity to other Rathtars, enabling them at working together to hunt down and cordon fleeing prey before it can escape. While this boost to intelligence isn't complicated problem-solving capability, they can overcome obstacles that they would be completely hindered by if hunting solo, such as doors. An individual Rathtar is much more susceptible to being outwitted by quick thinking and improvisation.

Rathtars have proven incapable of being controlled, and have been documented hunting indiscriminately.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION

Native to the planet Twon Ketee, the Rathtars are notorious as being one of the most dangerous animals in all the galaxy. Capable of massacring thousands, and even tearing apart Jedi and Sith, they were a force to be reckoned with if encountered in their native element. This ferocity and barbarism were what attracted the ruling Dark Lord of the Sith, Kaine Zambrano, to the otherwise mindless beasts.

Desiring several of these monsters for himself, the Dark Lord hired bounty hunters [member="Koda Fett"] and [member="Ronan Vizsla"] to travel to Twon Ketee and apprehend three of the beasts.

They only managed to capture two, but two was enough for the Dark Lord.

Restricting the Rathtars in his subterranean lair beneath the Imperial Palace on Bastion, Zambrano and Taeli Raaf conducted cruel and terrifying experiments on the Rathtars and altered their genetic codes in specific ways. They increased the rate at which they reproduced by fission, engineering the beasts to require less food in order to reach that state of reproduction and significantly shortened their natural lifespan to a single year.

The Dark Lord envisioned these new Rathtars would become the Empire's latest and greatest weapon of terror, capable of being deployed in small groups on a planet's surface and allowing them to feed and reproduce exponentially to the point that they'd be a significant detriment to the planet's society and the safety of its citizens. Once a planet's population had capitulated then warheads carrying a special gas compound would be detonated in the atmosphere to thoroughly destroy any modified Rathtars in the ecosystem, allowing the Empire to swoop in and establish control over the cowed planet.

Estimated Population: Semi-Unique
Considering that the basic idea of these guys are to drop them on a world and let them multiply, I think it would be a good idea to add a 'roof' to its numbers. Basically saying how widespread they can get at a maximum.

You can just use one of the ratings and maybe do something like [Max: ... ]

GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Given your intent, I think Rare would be a more appropriate cap for the population.
PHYSICAL INFORMATION
  • Is there anything in canon to back up the ability to breathe in a Type IV atmosphere, or was this an addition through the genetic engineering?
  • Can you add a PvP oriented weakness? The ability to be easily killed by those wielding them isn't a compelling weakness.
CULTURE
  • It's clear in multiple points in the sub that the species is meant to be a pack hunter, but it also sounds like they're perfectly capable of hunting individually. Are there any detriments to this?
  • Do they hunt indiscriminately, or can they be controlled?
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
  • I'm going to need you to tone down some of the language here. Devouring an entire planet's population while blocking escape isn't feasible nor is it something that will pass here.
