Private Something Wicked This Way Comes

Vytal watched the pair silently as they had a moment. Even when the lift stopped, the Witch didn't move.

However, when Voph broke the embrace, the pale Witch started forward immediately. "Let me as plain," she began, "I have no intention of rewarding that woman's efforts -- whether in life or death. There will be enough time to rest when time catches up with us all without hastening it." Might the man feel this was his time? That everything had come to this, and he would do whatever was necessary to end it? Possibly. The Nightmother was not of a mind to humor that thought, however. No matter how old Voph was, he was alive. He could enjoy an eternal rest when his time ended. Until that day, labor, suffering, but above all growth were his and things worth fighting for. Even the days one wished to forget.

Likely it wouldn't be long now before they departed for the other vessel. It would have been desirable to have some of her Sisters there, but this was not a mission one could bring an army into battle. Sergei was the happy exception, and even then it only put those under his command at risk. Still, they were fortunate to have each and every one present. They would be needed.

Sergei had done every check across the entirety of his men. Each and every one had all the gear they could carry, a veritable ungodly sight at the sheer amount of firepower and explosives each had. They looked as though they were about to make planet fall on a world such as Coruscant under fire. That they were going to assault an enemy army on their own. The amount of munitions and weapons each of them carried was absolutely ludicrous, and yet, Sergei felt he hadn't brought quite enough. If he'd known what their objective was, he'd have brought twice as many commandos, each with twice as much ammo. The dreadnought they'd be boarding was absurdly massive and though their group was powerful, numbers were a very real thing.

A few of his men carried crates containing machine guns and more heavy weapons to assist with defending the starship in the hangar. Literally thousands of 6.8mm cased ammunition in armor piercing and anti-shield rounds meant to absolutely cut through enemy forces with belt fed fury. Almost a hundred MAAWS rounds across several tubes were being loaded into the Obsidian Star on the off chance the enemy threw something at the ship that warranted anti-vehicle weaponry. That and the hundreds of pounds of DEX, plastic explosives that the Dire Wolves could either use to make quick shaped charges, or straight up form into grenades or satchel charges should the enemy numbers prove too great. Sergei's men had brought every tool and trick of the trade they could access. They'd brought overwhelming firepower, ammunition, and explosives to ensure that they could accomplish their objective. And for the first time in a long while, Sergei wasn't sure of the odds. This would be the toughest fight of his and his mens' lives, and that's if the enemy took the bait and directed the majority of their forces at Voph and his merry band. If they didn't, Sergei had no doubt the enemy would turn this into a slog fest, and he'd have to get creative to figure out a way to achieve his objective.

He would banish the thoughts as the loading of the extra munitions and weapons was finished. All of the preparations were made. Sergei would take his place with his men, sitting on the side allowing the rest of the group to congregate together if they want to. He wouldn't shoo anyone away if they chose to approach or even sit next to them, he would welcome it. He just didn't want them to be in the way of the others.

Taiia quietly took in all the information from the briefing, quietly filing away any concerns about how dangerous this enemy could be, no matter how great the risk it would be imperative that they recover the viceroy but at the end of the day one thing was certain this was about more than the Viceroy she had been around Voph long enough to note the change in attitude and demeanor though it would not be anything she would raise she like always would follow his command and charge ahead no matter what.
She watched quietly as Voph and Prennis and Vytal left to confer that act alone taught her more of the seriousness of the matter than she may have previously suspected, she let out a barely audible sigh before she turned and moved to assist the rest of those with any preparations that they might need an extra pair of hands with. She herself did not have any great need to prepare, other than to prepare herself for what was to come, a calm mind would be the greatest thing she could bring to this fight at the moment.
