Snakes.... Why did it have to be Snakes (Silver jedi Dominion of Drongar)

Sorel Crieff

Ready are you? What know you of ready?
As she reached the next intersection, Sorel pulled the controls hard to port, turning into the new lane. At the same time, she reduced power to her repulsorlifts. Her X-wing dropped nearly to the street’s grey surface and continued its spin until it was pointed back the way it had come. She brought power up to the forward repulsorlifts, canting her bow upward, and slammed her thrusters forward as hard as she could.

Her pursuer whipped around the corner, making better time than she had, given the advantage of following as opposed to calculating what manoeuvres were possible. He came so close to the building face on the outside of his turn that only his repulsors kept him from grazing the building. His nose was elevated far above Sorel's position, the pilot obviously expecting to catch Sorel in his sights farther down the street.

Which was what she had planned.

Sorel fired, her lasers raking the other ship from bow to stern at close range. She saw the underside of the fighter open up like a seam bursting under pressure. The ship wobbled, roared past over Sorel's head, and slammed down into the street, skidding for a block in the direction it had been going.

Her radar showed only buildings all around her. “Kaytoo, help me out.”

"We are not exactly certain, they die off quickly when collected by droids and after clinging to armor. All we really have from them is when exposed to organic material they eat the flesh of people and osmatic fields are the best way to prevent them from infecting." Which is what the rebreathers used, the small fields in the masks would prevent inhaling them while also means they wouldn't have to lug around a heavy air pack. Matsu continued to work and the beginnings after she had managed to get one of the flowers to a pre-mutated state. She wasn't going to be able to really work on it on a larger scale as she was sitting there tired. She could still coordinate with the padawan though and offered a small look on her face. "Oh that was a little tiring."

As she worked on a small astromech droid she managed to unclog some of it's tools. "Wow! The astromechs seem to suffer worse. Stop squirming R5." The R5 unit loudly protested. She seemed to if Matsu paid attention udnerstand it. "No I am not prolonging the proceadure 'm makign sure to get all thsi out. Or woudl you rather be back doign this in another hour?" It gave back a few bleeps. Then it whistled loudly and seemed to make a set of squeeks. "There...now stop being a big baby R5." it turns and began to drive off. "And don't let me catch you givign the lifter droids a hard time cause you have to change their calibratings sometimes!" She said as he left. Turning back she looked to Matsu. "Darn R5 units always have additudes. And i wondered why we had to wear these rebreathers all day."

"Yeah they are helpful for protection" Though the rebreathers they had designed were lighter and less obtrusive then many of the others letting it be worn easily. Matsu was bringing up more of what they had. To develop it until she was done sitting up a little from her seated position. "I have gotten some of the sample to reverse the mutation but still need more to work with if we are going to really make it work. The samples could easily be destroyed still and that will not help us for recreating the bota or its effects even if only on a small scale." THe jedi master was motioning to the biot droids and they were working on the different parts of it. To present areas of information to her so that she would have it then send the information to [member="Coci Heavenshield"] as it is being developed so the master of the order would have an idea of the healing properties and what they might be able to do with it.

Following after the dreadlocked man, Joza managed to keep a few paces between them still, while maintaining her dumb smile. Not 100% dumb, mind you—because that could be seen through easily—but it wasn’t difficult for her to play the role of the ditz. Zeltrons were known for being naturally gullible and a bit airheaded, so she played upon the preconceived notions of her race, regardless of whether or not this man knew much about Zeltrons. Most others tended to wave Zeltrons off as sexually driven partygoers. Which was absolutely true, mind you. But they were also an advanced, modern people with a fantastic love of art, music and all things expressive. So much that they even fancied fighting arenas in the same vein as dance clubs. Whatever gets the blood flowing.

“How much do you know about this place, if I may ask?” She noted his skillful avoidance of her previous question and tucked that away into the back of her mind. Even if he did know that she playing vapid, she didn’t particularly mind. He seemed like the clever sort. “And where do you suggest that we begin our search, oh Shirtless One?”

His eyes roamed over her as she spoke and shirtless one wasn't such a bad name to have as a nickname if she was going to be like that. He was casual, careful but going int he same dance as she was. Sticking with all of it before finally speaking. "I would suggest we start with the caves, they are some of the safest places in the jungle and there are areas where they drain the rainwater into underground rivers so it can keep from flooding." He motioned with her while leading the way with a small grin finally on his face. They were leading the way now. "There is also a chance if people were taken some of the larger caverns where the roots from the trees come down. It makes for private residences if you are bold enough to construct in them. Water and plants you can eat will be there so you could survive a long time with the bare minimum." He emphasized the private part with his words as you could have any nuber of things there, they were not risking the dangerous parts. The man offered an arm to escort her down into the one cave. "Never know what you can find or do in the dark."

With the astromech off she turned again and looked to another project namely a more logn term soultion to the spores. Mostly it just involved an anti fungal and anti floral mixture of chemicals meant to be sprayed in an area. It'd not perminently end the stuff but she concldued it may be useful for disolving the spores comign into air intakes which may allow logner peroids before mainteince on droids or machines. "Almost got a possible soultion just need to figure out hwo to jerry rig it into the normal filtration clenaing cycle." She psoke proudly.

OOC
I apologize, this slipped my mind until just now.

To say that the heavy level of flirting was making Nicolas uncomfortable would be mildly overstating it, but only a little. The primary thing that was bothering Nicolas, and keeping him silent while Master Joza did the talking, was his inability to get a fixed read on the shirtless man. It was obvious that he was far more interested in Joza than he, to which Nicolas couldn't argue for taste. However, the man seemed completely unconcerned with Nicolas's presence at his flank while he conversed with the Zeltron Master. That either spoke of ignorant confidence, or true confidence, and Nic couldn't tell which it was quite yet.

Remaining silent, practically a shadow in the clearing, Nicolas kept his eyes on the man, knowing that Joza could handle herself as well. She worked with the Silver Jedi and the Alliance both, so his level of trust for her was fairly high. He kept a corner of his mind on the lightsaber at his hip, though Winter at the small of his back was a cool and calming presence as well, he was not quite ready to draw it in combat, as he was unsure of whether the memories of Dair would welcome it or not.

Nami could feel more of it as she continued through the ship and came to the control room. The bridge fo the ship was still looking like it could be functional where they would be abel to work on some of the things. She took a seat and was leaving some fo the things around here for all fo them to to be able to wor with and see. "THis is Nami Perl, I managed to get to the bridge of the ship and everything seems to be intact. If we can get some teams to the engine rooms and start clearing parts of the ship out we might be able to get it running or at least cleared out of the battle droids. They could come in handy for scrap or whatever." She was unsure while sitting around and looking at some of the things on the small screen she had.

Ready are you? What know you of ready?
Sorel sent her X-wing forward to the intersection, then rose on repulsorlifts until she was well clear of the cabling she saw – and also that she sensed. She pointed her nose up and climbed.

In seconds, two more fighters had latched on to her. A quick check of her radar suggested these were the only ones in the vicinity. Where the others had gone was a question to be resolved later.

Her targetting system, which had been working intermittently, suddenly came back on-line and targets flashed in and out of her brackets. She switched to missiles and fired every time the musical tone suggested a clean lock. Within thirty seconds, the two fighters were downed and she set her scanners for longer range. She needed to find those remaining pirates.

Nami sent the message and was getting everything through that they would be able to before she was looking at it. Sticking around until a small grin was on her face sitting down in one of the command chairs where she could lookin over at everything. "Well this wasn't so bad for a first mission or time away from the temple. Hopefully I didn't embarrass [member="Joza Perl"] too much." Nami was wanting to keep a lot of it worked on so that they would be able to work on more of it. 'Alright' She was thinking about it with a look on her face when she wiped some of the sweat off her brow. She was looking for more things to do here when she was bringing up her datapad to look around with the glow rod and record the information for what they were doing here. She could say hopefully that her part of the mission here on the planet was done.

As she went back to work on the droids she began to try out some of the new systems. The solvent was helping and within another few hours they began to see a reduction in the frequency droids needed filter work. Thankfully their plan had worked and collection could continue at a much more reasonable pace. She spent the rest of her time trying to help get some of the water filtration and purification systems online for the larger population centers.

Her display suddenly showed two fuzzy blips moving toward her, one from the east and the other from the west. Within moments they resolved themselves into clouds of smaller blips, two entire squadrons.

The tactical part of her mind calculated odds and strategy. The answer wasn’t good. Even if she could have ordinarily managed twenty-four-to-one odds, her equipment was too badly damaged to let her compete. And her Jedi brain concurred.

And she wondered if she had the time to reach hyperspace before they were able to engage her.

Which was when a new cluster of blips appeared on her screen – this time friendlies. The sky was suddenly lit up by laser fire and explosions. Shortly her scanner could not tell friend from foe, so integrated were the ships.

And then she watched as the numbers thinned and the friendly ships soon outnumbered the pirates until there were only allies on her screen.

“Time to go home Kaytoo,” she said – and the mech-droid whistled an affirmative response as she set the coordinates for hyperspace.

As she began to help finish up the tasks needed and get others ready to do things without her she looked over as one of the astromechs came up to her. "What now R5?" She asked. The little astromech gave some sarcastic bleeps and bloops. She looked to the droid with a look of somebody being talked to aggressively. "Really? Swear R5 you'e the most crazy astromech ever. i don't care what you say." She followed it as he lead to a problem area.

A strong sense of relief filled Théo's body as the water left his lungs and air refilled them. It was almost calming to the mind as life entered his body again, however, he pulled back from his father's embrace and looked into his eyes, the same as his own and smiled sheepishly. "Sorry.. sorry 'bout that", his voice raspy from the acid and his mouth felt like a sewer drain. Probably smelt like one too. He felt weak at the knees, as if he had been on the mead the night before and he shook his head to clear the mind and bring back clarity. Théo made the mistake of turning and looking down into the rushing waters, only to have them seem to take flight toward him, a dizzy sight filled with churning snakes and he felt his stomach lurch again. However, this time he managed to keep the contents of his stomach to himself.

But in the darkness, moving within the shadows, was a figure of a man running along the top of the levee. "Look father .. over there", he pointed out. From the roof top it was easy to make him out, it was either someone trapped in the flood waters and the levee the only point of refuge or it was the person responsible for the destruction of the levee. A flash of lightning above them revealed more, the person seemed to be tinkering with something, stooped over some sort of device and looking very furtive indeed.

Théo narrowed his eyes, trying his best to gain more sight of the man's face, the heavy fall impeded this but the man's face was familiar and then another flash of lightning illuminated him as the man looked up to see that he had been spotted. It was the mayor...

As she began to leave or prepare to she smiled to the remaining techs staying behind. She'd given them some info on the solutions she had so they could continue to do their work and the droids would not suffer so badly for it. With that she headed with others for the shuttles to head to wherever she went next.

Wanting nothing more than to dote on his boy some more after having almost lost him, Thurion maintained his embrace of Théo as he struggled to regain his thoughts and balance. "It's okay, son. Everything is going to be alright." The thought of his own blood actually apologising for almost drowning was genuinely heartbreaking, and so the father placed a kiss upon the son's forehead. It was after this that the latter spotted the shape of someone down by the levee, prompting Thurion to try and make the person out. Then as the lightning flashed before their eyes, it became apparent to him as well as to who this mysery person was. "I saw it too," he spoke, turning to Théo with a puzzled look on his face.

With a nod of his head, Thurion beckoned for Théo to follow as he got up and lept onto the next rooftop to get closer to their suspected saboteur. Landing with a soft thud and aided by the Force, he peered over the edge to see the mayor - clear as day, now - entering the very building they'd lept unto. "Whatever his role in this is," he said just loud enough to be heard over the sound of pouring rain, "I think it's time we had a little chat with the good mayor, don't you?"

Without further ado, his lightsaber found the palm of his hand and was ignited, casting its blue hue over their otherwise dark surroundings before Thurion plunged the blade into the roof to carve an opening for them. With Théo's help they quickly find a way inside the structure, and upon poking his head down the hole to see if the coast was clear his breath caught as he immediately laid eyes on an armed man, who in return poked his blaster through the sudden opening, inches from Thurion's face.

Acting on pure instinct, Thurion grabbed the man's wrist and simply pulled him up and through their makeshift entrance out onto the rooftop, all happening in the span of seconds. The blaster the man carried was swiftly dismantled and cast aside as they two Jedi towered over the quite surprised guard. "Mercenary," he told Théo while pointing out the custom-made pieces of armour the man wore, adorned with paint and insignias no official military organisation would wear.

Théo leap across the roof was less then graceful considering his lack of stability on his legs, he stumbled as he landed making a dull thud on the roof. He left the cutting to his father, watching from the side as the blue saber sliced through the metal with ease. However, his heart just about stopped with the end of the blaster pointed into his father's face but his father's calm action soon dispatched the blaster and the man holding it. The mercenary landed on his back winded by the sudden landing and Théo was upon him with his white blade pointing at the man's face. "You working for the Mayor?", he asked his voice still raspy. "'It's a job, pays well". The mercenary slowly placed his hands over his head in surrender.

"People have died in the flood because of your job, some of them children", a snarled broke across Théo's face, as he turned the hilt of his saber and used the butt end to slam into the forehead of the mercenary knocking him out cold. No doubt there would be more men inside, what the motive of the Mayor was, to place his people in danger and as a result some had perished, was beyond Théo's understanding at this point. But they would soon find out and the Mayor would regret the day.

With his strength slowly returning, his legs becoming more firm under foot, Théo approached his father with a look of determination. No one kills children and gets away with it, not in here not now. "Time we found this Mayor and ask a few pressing questions". They were heading into a pit of snakes of a different kind. Father could go first.

With the mercenary disarmed and knocked out, father and son proceeded down the hole and into the building. They found themselves in a corridor, and due to the flood there was no power which meant no lightsources other than a couple battery-powered ones placed in key locations. It quickly became clear than the place had been evacuated in a hurry, and it became even more obvious that this building served as the town schoolhouse. The walls were lined with lockers and children's drawings. Upon approaching the staircase leading further down, Thurion peeked over the edge to find two more guards chatting, unaware of any intrusion.

"They won't be expecting us," he whispered to Théo. "We don't know how many there are, so we can't let them fire a single shot or the whole place will be alerted." Thurion then raised his hand to the temple of his head and let out a sigh. "I hate this part..." Penetrating the mind of the man closest to them proved no challenge, and with a few simple commands he made the man raise the butt of his rifle to knock out his friend with a well-aimed strike to the head. Mind control was an aspect of the Force Thurion had always loathed resorting to, but even he could not deny the usefulness.

Rather than using the stairs, Thurion leaped over the railing to land behind the mind-controlled mercenary and with a wave of his hand the guard fell to the floor, as if in a deep slumber. "Let's go. We're getting close to discover who's behind what."

Theo simply nodded his understanding without a word. But father can get so squirmish sometimes but Theo would never be one to pass up the opportunity to joke with his father. "I'm telling Mum", he said as Thuiron controlled the mind of a man only to have him smack the sense out of the other. He soon followed his father over the railings, this time landing with more skill and grace as his dizziness had gone. "I can sense a group of men in the next room, 'bout five of them and I bet you your next barrel of me .. blue milk, one will be the Mayor".

They moved through the room passing the school desks until reaching the door. On the other side, voices could be heard, "Not see the Jedi since they left the town hall", one man said. "I told you! they are on to us, I am certain I was spotted on the levee". The voice of the Mayor loud and clear.

"There is only one way in father", he whipsered as he pointed to the door to the classroom. And there was only one solution to this as far as Theo was concerned, and he pulled in long breath puffing out his chest and gripping his lightsaber. "How about a good old fashioned Valkyri berserker charge right through the door". And not waiting for his father reply, a roar that would scare the paint of the walls bellowed from Theo's chest and his eyes widened with the thrill of the charge and before anyone, including his father, knew it, the door to the classroom exploded with a very large Valkryi body destroying it.

The time for questions in the investigation would come soon enough.
