- New & Improved: As with the old DE-10 blasters used by the old Death Watch, An updated version named the SM-10a was produced to provide better stopping power, with a slightly larger package. Sporting the use of Charric components to not only have the thermal damage of blaster like weaponry, but with a larger kinetic impact. Providing easier usage against Lightsaber Jockeys, or ceramic armors that can defend against one but not the other.
- Unloaded: Even when the weapon is "empty" it can still be used as a weapon. Enough heft with the weapon, and its durable construction lend to the accepted usage of the pistol to be turned into a bludgeon tool. Either "Pistol whiping" or holding the weapon by the barrel and smacking someone with the hog leg. Personal preference.
- Tip in the Water: Due to the weapons length, and frame size, its a little difficult to hide it in a pocket, or not wear it in anything other than a thigh/waist holster. Even coming with a recommended Quickdraw holster for the Sons of Mandalore to use should they already not have one of their preference.
- Enlarged Size: With the extended Firing chamber on the weapon, reaching well over the grip of the weapon, it can snag on clothing, or make it difficult to draw from a concealed location. Secondary, should the end of the chamber be damaged it can render the weapon inoperable.
The Neo-Crusaders of the current age of the Galaxy should always be well armed, and ready. For a number of generations, Mandalorians have utilized the DE-10 Blaster pistol due to its rugged design as well as its superior performance over other blaster pistols of the galaxy. However, the ever growing arms race that boomed after the four hundred year darkness, has brought the power of the DE-10 to a lower level. This is not due to decreased value of the weapon, instead it is the expanding technology that produces better quality blasters and weaponry. This power creep has reached the head offices of the Trade Federation. As providers of weaponry to not just the New Imperial Order, but also the subsect of Mandalorians that aid the NIO against the Sith Empire, They sought to take an old production model of weaponry, bring it to today's standards with a little extra umph, so that the Sons of Mandalore may have, once more, superior craftsmanship of weapons at their disposal.
