OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
PRODUCTION INFORMATION
  • Name: Shursia Virus
  • Manufacturer: Taeli Raaf, Order of Shadows
  • Affiliation: Order of Shadows
  • Market Status: Closed-Market
  • Modularity: The product of what is created by the virus can be different depending on the subject infected, any biomass they absorb, or even mutations in the viral strain itself as it infects them and interacts with pre-existing pathogens.
  • Production: Semi-Unique
  • Material:
    • Hyper-accelerated Sith Mutagenic Virus
    • Rakghoul Plague Viral Strands
    • Zeffo Genetic Material
TECHNICAL INFORMATION
  • Classification: Mutative Virus
  • Method of Consumption:
    • Orally - Via a capsule or other pill delivery system, can also exist for short times in water supplies for a wider infection area. Consumption of infected material, either plant or animal matter, can also spread the infection to a subject. Viral strains introduced in this way have the longest incubation period, generally lasting a few days before it reaches full body saturation, although observable mutations can start manifesting sooner before complete mutation occurs.
    • Injection - Via a direct infusion into a subject's bloodstream. Viral strains introduced this way have the shortest incubation periods, taking mere moments after infection for mutations to occur and full body saturation to completely mutate subjects.
    • Contact - Via a bite or wound caused by an infected subject. Viral strains introduced this way have a moderate incubation period, with the subject having several hours to a day before the onset of mutations.
    • Inhalation - Via a reddish-gray powder certain infected have been observed to exhale as a gas attack. Viral strains introduced this way have a moderate incubation period, with the subject having several hours to a day before the onset of mutations.
  • Average Life: Indefinitely as of present
  • Nutritional Value/Allergies/Side Effects/ Purpose: As a mutative virus created by the Lady of Secrets and her alchemists, there is no nutritional value to the Shursia Virus. Due to the nature of the virus, any allergic reaction would be from a subject's genetic deposition and possible immunity from the mutative effects of the virus. Anything that might be classified as a side effect would be classed under the virus's primary function.
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • The Shursia Virus can rapidly mutate any subject, either sentient or non-sentient, within moments of infection and full body saturation. During their experiments in creating the virus, the Order of Shadows alchemists and Darth Arcanix observed several unique mutations and abilities of those that had been fully infected and survived the process, although not all subjects retained their full sentience. These do not include observations from subjects that absorbed other specimens that gained other traits and abilities, merely the base mutations observed for the species listed:
    • Original Sentient Subjects:
      • Humans
        • Subjects were observed to growth a second skin across their bodies, much like those from subject Shursia, that could morph and repair damage done to the host beneath it. Some subjects were observed to be able to hide this second skin once they achieved what the Lady of Secrets determined was a full merging of the virus and host.
        • Second skin was observed morphing into claws and blades.
      • Twi'lek
        • Subjects were observed to growth a second skin across their bodies, much like those from subject Shursia, that could morph and repair damage done to the host beneath it. Some subjects were observed to be able to hide this second skin once they achieved what the Lady of Secrets determined was a full merging of the virus and host.
        • Head tails were able to lengthen and grew a blade like tip that the subject could use like a whip to attack.
      • Anzati
        • Face tendrils could no longer be hidden, but have grown in length and carry some sort of paralytic venom that the subject could use on victims.
        • Observed a greater ability to absorb biomass and memories of specimens.
      • Neimoidian
        • Growth of tumors on the body that were observed to be filled with an explosive fluid that also contained the virus that would rupture and spread contaminated fluids in a radius of several meters.
      • Gendai
        • Classified by order of Darth Arcanix, further research needed.
      • Sangnir
        • Classified by order of Darth Arcanix, further research needed.
      • Arkanian
        • Subjects were observed to growth a second skin across their bodies, much like those from subject Shursia, that could morph and repair damage done to the host beneath it. Some subjects were observed to be able to hide this second skin once they achieved what the Lady of Secrets determined was a full merging of the virus and host.
      • Hutt
        • Mucus layer that covers outer skin is a viral vector, coming into contact with the mucus can lead to infection if it enters the body through an orifice or wound.
        • Tail lengthened and formed a bladed appendage that could used like a whip to strike out at specimens, either killing them or drawing them in close for consumption.
        • More than other subjects, possibly from sort of mutation in the Hutt respiratory system, subjects were observed to expel minute amounts of the gas infection method with every breath.
      • Epicanthix
        • Subjects were observed to growth a second skin across their bodies, much like those from subject Shursia, that could morph and repair damage done to the host beneath it. Some subjects were observed to be able to hide this second skin once they achieved what the Lady of Secrets determined was a full merging of the virus and host.
      • Stennix
        • Classified by order of Darth Arcanix, further research needed.
      • Clawdite
        • Classified by order of Darth Arcanix, further research needed.
    • Original Non-Sentient Subjects:
      • Rancor (Adolescent)
        • Arms could morph between enhanced claws and a bony appendage that could be used to smash their surroundings and victims.
        • Skin pigmentation became a dark gray, eyes becoming red.
      • Acklay
        • Creature grew larger but thinner.
        • Skin pigmentation became a reddish-black, with eyes becoming a milky white.
        • Scythe-like claws on the end of their legs.
      • Rathtar
        • Every tentacle of the creature grew a bladed appendage
        • Rubbery skin was observed to act much like the second skin observed on some humanoids.
      • Nexu
        • Claws and fangs lengthened, becoming even sharper and stronger.
        • Skin pigmentation took on a dark gray color, with eyes becoming either red or white depending on gender of subjects.
      • Kath Hound
        • Enhance musculature
      • Devourer
        • Enhanced musculature
        • Size of specimens increased by significant margin
      • Nerf
        • Enhanced musculature
        • Extreme aggressive behavior
        • Horns become whip-like appendages that the creature can use to snare subjects or eviscerate them.
      • Hawk-Bat
        • Expanded wingspan to roughly two meters, edges of wings were found to be as sharp as a blade.
        • Rapid musculature growth.
        • Talons and beak became stronger, sharper, and carried viral strains on the outside that could pass into wounds.
  • Infected subjects, all that survived, were observed being able to absorb biomass from other creatures and species and incorporate beneficial traits from those absorbed. Some, those that still retained their minds after infection and mutation, mentioned they could even recall memories that were not their own and were possibly those from the specimens and captives they consumed.
  • All infected subjects were observed having enhanced resistance to damage, to the point that many serious injuries were rapidly regenerated by the subjects after they consumed biomass. Even subjects that had been written off as deceased were observed being brought back to life by the viral strain if enough biomass was nearby that could be absorbed. Subjects brought back in this manner typically suffered amnesia, not recalling any past events from before their resurrections, something of interest for Darth Arcanix.
  • All infected subjects have measurably enhanced strength, while some have also exhibited enhanced reflexes, speed, and other generally superior physical performances, but more testing and observation is needed by the Order of Shadows alchemists.
  • Infected subjects that were Force-Sensitive before infection retained their ability to touch the Force, although it was observed that they could access the dark side due to the Sith mutagen effecting how their midi-chlorians interacted with the Living Force.
STRENGTHS
  • An incredibly powerful mutative virus, the Shursia Virus rapidly changes those infected by it into a powerful Sithspawn mutant, although the speed and rate of these changes is determined by the infection vector. PC infection and how they are effected by the virus is up to the writer.
  • Due to the mutative nature of the virus, curing it with conventional methods such as anti-virals is ineffective as the virus can adapt to anything that might attempt to attack and cure it, incorporating it into the viral structure and possibly even creating new mutative strains.
  • Infected subjects can absorb other beings and creatures and incorporate traits and abilities that are deemed biologically beneficial into the structure of the subject, created new mutations.
  • Infected subjects have enhanced regeneration properties, even being to come back from the dead if a hapless victim comes into contact with the body and the virus within the subject hasn't finished expiring yet.
  • Infected subjects have enhanced physical abilities such as strength, speed, and reflexes, but other traits could also be enhanced depending on the subject infected.
WEAKNESSES
  • Before complete infection occurs, the Light side of the Force can purify a subject of the virus. However, some mutations that have already manifested before being cured can still remain, even if the subject is clean of the virus.
  • The fatality rate of the virus is incredibly high, with the Order of Shadows observing at least 7 out of 10 subjects infected with the virus dying from rapid cellular mutation then degradation. In Force Sensitives, the fatality rate is lower with at least 4 out of 10 subjects dying from rapid mutations and rejection.
  • Incineration of remains can prevent regeneration, and has been observed to be highly effective against infected subjects in general. Burns were observed to take three times as long to heal, if at all.
  • A majority of subjects lose any higher brain functions, becoming little more than feral monsters with only a desire to spread the virus to those around them or consume biomass. It is theorized by Order of Shadows alchemists that the consumption of enough biomass could result in the restoration of sentience, but this has not been observed as of yet.
  • Cold environments and weapons can be detrimental to both the virus and the infected subjects. The virus cannot propagate well in climates below water's freezing point, reducing any potential spread or infection significantly, while fully mutated subjects are sluggish and easier to disable.
DESCRIPTION

The initial development of the virus that would be called the Shursia Virus began at Hojo Base on Felucia, a joint Order of Shadows and Spaarti Creations facility that was playing host to a personal experiment research of the Lady of Secrets, Darth Arcanix. The subject at the base, dubbed Project SYMBIOTE or Experiment HX7 was an imperfect specimen created through her study of Zeffo DNA and its incorporation into other lifeforms. When the Galactic Alliance attacked the sector, the apprentice to Darth Arcanix, Eldaah Aderyn drew two Jedi to the facility to test the creature against them. Eldaah was captured and HX7 was destroyed, but before its destruction, it had managed to infect Jedi Knight Loske Treicolt Loske Treicolt with its genetic material. The material propagated within the Jedi, quietly infecting and mutating her, but remained mostly dormant until activated by a spell cast by Darth Arcanix herself when Loske entered the mind of Eldaah to retrieve information on Ziost, the Alliance's next target in their Stygian Campaign.

Loske was brought to the world of Upekzar for observation by Darth Arcanix, to see if she could achieve a full merging between the Jedi and her symbiotic creature. While they did eventually merge, the Lady of Secrets did not believe it was enough a true fusion, but kept that information to herself. Loske and the symbiote were allowed to roam free on the planet, with Order of Shadows alchemists observing and testing her capabilities. Field deployments against the Alliance were allowed, and it was during one of these that they began calling themselves Shursia, slaughtering enemies of the Sith with a feral glee. However, on Serenno, Maynard Treicolt Maynard Treicolt was able to rescue his wife by using the Blade of Ruusan to augment his abilities in the Light, burning away the creature on the outside while bolstering the woman within. Maynard took Loske off to recover, not knowing another had been watching. Darth Arcanix had been present and recovered the ashes and remains of the creature, taking them away for further study and experimentation.

The result of that continued work is the Shursia Virus, an extremely mutative and symbiotic alchemical virus created in the hidden laboratories of the Lady of Secrets. The virus was created by introducing both MUUR V-25 strains and rakghoul viral DNA to the ashes left from Shursia, both of which were absorbed and incorporated into the remains to create something brand new and even more potent. With the virus nearing completion, a field deployment was needed to observe its full impact, something that could be used to gauge the effectiveness of the virus and those that might respond to it...

Hello, I'll be your judge today. What a read! Very well written and detailed submission. I also loved reading the games where they happened and developed. However, I would have a request:
  • The virus has a lot of advantages, very strong, which is not a problem at all, but the weaknesses and disadvantages don't reflect the balance, because we will typically see successful, surviving individuals in the threads anyway. Therefore, please add another weakness to the submission, which is related to PVP because the virus is unbalanced in this area.
  • And the link under the "Eldaah Aderyn drew two Jedi to the facility" is broken, please correct this if you want.

That's all, please let me know if you edited these.
