ADVANCED SYSTEMS
STRENGTHS
  • Maneuverable: The Sh'neru-class Starfighter is a very agile starfighter, not unlike the Tie Defender which it attempted to replicate. The use of multiple Nimble-7 Ion Engines spread throughout the craft's rear allow it to make dizzying spins, rolls, and other maneuvers on a dime that many starfighters simply can't mimic.
  • Disguise: Unusual for a starfighter, the Sh'neru-class Starfighter has been equipped with a holographic shell projector, allowing it to visually appear to be any number of vessels. While it originally included to allow it to pass off as a civilian shuttle or freighter before revealing its true nature, some enterprising pilots use it to appear as already battle damaged even when they are not in order to lull their opponents into a false sense of security.
WEAKNESSES
  • Large Starfighter: As with its distant ancestor the Tie Defender, the Sh'neru-class Starfighter is a rather large starfighter, making it a larger target that many other starfighters and limiting the number that can typically be carried on a capital starship.
  • Power Draw (Holographic Shell): Using the holographic shell to create a convincing facade draws a lot of power, and in practice typically the shields or the weapons have to be taken offline in order to provide enough power to effectively use.
DESCRIPTION
The Sh'neru-class Starfighter began as an attempt by Shi'ido engineers to replicate the ancient but vaunted Tie Defender in order to help protect their world from the ravages of a galaxy nearly constantly at war. To that end, the Sh'neru maintains a very similar configuration, with ball-shaped cockpit from which three pylons support wings and extensive engine systems. Unusually though, the inner hull makes extensive use of Lao-Mon's unusual nenuphar material, which theoretically gives the fighter some ability to repair itself in the right conditions. Unfortunately, before the fighter could be put into service by the Shi'ido, Lao-Mon was conquered by the Brotherhood of the Maw - the two built prototypes and the design team managed to escape to Silver Jedi Concord space. Further design work on the fighter continued with the support of Lucerne Labs, a company closely tied to the Silver Jedi Concord. Lucerne Labs provided new, proprietary technology which further refined the design into a rather dangerous starfighter.

The production version of the Sh'neru is exceptionally agile and sports a wide variety of weapons, allowing to quickly maneuver into a position and hit a target at almost any range: Shi'ido engineers wanted their pilots to have an ability to attack anything on the battlefield, giving the Sh'neru Railguns to snipe enemy fighters from distance as well as unguided rockets for a surprise short-range punch. Lastly, the Sh'neru incorporates Holographic Shell projector, allowing the Sh'neru to take on various visual disguises, much like the Shi'ido themselves. Combined with the sensor jammer option on the Modular Auxiliary Systems Turret, this can potentially make it very difficult for foes to discern what the Sh'neru itself is. While the first Sh'nerus were immediately issued out to Shi'ido pilots interested in retaking their world, the craft has become available in reasonably large numbers through the Silver Jedi Concord itself where its exotic nature has won both admirers and detractors among the ranks of the Concord's navy.
