See Them Driven Before You [Sith raid on Yutan Jedi Temple]

Jedi Temple
Yutan
Unaligned Space
Former Republic Territory

There was no telling whether, or to what extent, the Jedi Temple had been evacuated after the Republic's final fall. If nobody happened to be there, if no Jedi showed up to defend the place, perhaps there would be things worth finding. If Jedi did show up, so much the better.

An old Fringe Sekairo-class stealth transport touched down in the jungle two klicks from the ancient temple. Velok hopped off the ramp and activated a simple red lightsaber. He began clearing a path through the underbrush at best possible speed, humming to himself.

Rather than waste strength clearing his own path, Thengil followed behind the tall Whiphid at a short distance, idly fiddling with a strange contraption on his forearm. The exosuit he wore, more biofiber than servos, barely made a sound.

His amber eyes glowed in the shadow of the jungle canopy and they slid this way and that, scanning for threats. His nose twitched and quivered at the variety of smells: fungus and rotting wood; the ozone reek of Velok's blade; and the pheromones of this planet's lesser predators hiding out in the vines. But no scent of a lightsider's musty robes.

Not yet.

Ombakond Sector, Yutan System, Yutan
The fall of the Republic signaled the end of an era for most of the galaxy, and the ripple of its dissolution still echoed across its former territories. Many systems found themselves at the mercy of unrepentant corsairs as the Republic's influence fizzled away to nothingness, most of them having been former Republic officers who had turned to piracy in the wake of the Republic's failure to provide them with a steady income as the war dragged on. Many others were former Imperials from the similarly dissolved One Sith Empire who sought retribution against the people they had been fighting against for the better part of a decade, while the rest were wretches and criminals that had languished under Republic justice that now found their ambitions limitless with their main antagonist laid low.

And then there was, of course, the Sith. Ancient enemy of democracy and the Jedi Order.

A ripple in the Force heralded the arrival of several frigates, corvettes, and gunships materializing out of hyperspace within short distance of the former Republican world. There wasn't enough ships to warrant labeling it an invasion force, but it was more organized and equipped than your average bandit flotilla. The menagerie of ships were all of the design to move swiftly throughout the system, nimbly evading larger capital vessels while whittling away their shields and hull with hit-and-run barrages. Accompanying them were six Subjugator-class Assault Ships from the era of the Old Empire that bore no markings and did not possess any legal IFF transponders.

The frigates would create a protective screen around the assault ships until they were within range of Yutan's orbit, and from there they would break off to cause havoc throughout the sector while the four ships barreled through the atmosphere down to the planet's surface. Each one held in its gullet Blackblade Guardsmen armed to the teeth and hungering for war, alongside a good assortment of repulsorcraft, munitions, and droid starfighters. Those fighters would launch all at once whenever the ships came into view of the temple, two hundred-and-sixteen ships all screaming towards the Jedi temple alongside the essential dropships required to ferry the soldiers and war machines down to the surface.

One such dropship carried the leader of this horde of hell, a man clad head-to-toe in baroque phrik armor plating who had brought pain and misery to thousands of worlds before this one. A man whose name was spoken with fear throughout the Republic during the height of the war, albeit different from the one he cloaked himself with now, yet his brutality has not wavered in that lull. He hungered to see the Jedi Temple of Yutan burn and smolder by the day's end, and he would go to any lengths to achieve his desires.

Orbit Surrounding Yutan
Aboard J-Type 327 Nubian Royal Starship

As the barge drifted through space to the next port of call for Priscilla's, the Princess' quiet slumber aboard the cruiser was abruptly interrupted by the sound of Alfred, walking into her bed chambers.

"Ma'am, several Sith starships have been detected in the system surrounding Yutan."

"And what of the local government? We are here to conduct a trade mission, not be blown to bits, inform them immediately."

A look of concern would spread across his face.

"No response as of yet, surely you are not suggesting that we interfere? The ship would be blasted to smithereens."

"Alfred. You are not employed to discuss your opinion. Contact the ground forces and see if we can assist with resolving this peacefully, I will not stand idly as innocent civilians are left to be destroyed by a great threat. If it was the Republic, it would be the same. Actions like these are intolerable and should not be allowed to happen while we can do something to stop them. Hail the ship and inform them that doing so would cause great concern to the Corporate Sector. Also, get me some more tea. I'm not, you interrupted by sleep."

As Alfred left he would open the communication channel with the Flagship of the fleet.

"Attention to all Sith ships in the area, as per request by the Royal Trade Ambassador for the Pantoran Republic, along with approval from the Corporate sector we would like to be informed of what you are planning on doing in our areas of interest. Be aware, we are unarmed and are not here to cause you harm, and will not hesitate to call assistance should you open fire"

Alfred would then turn on the Ship's heavy deflector shields and prepare to jump to hyperspace as he awaited the response.

The old perimeter defenses, it transpired, constituted two main obstacles.

Rendili hoverdroids, each the size of a human but shaped like a codpiece, roamed the forest. The droids had two light blaster cannons apiece -- hardly a challenge.

Stationary Republic mini-turret droids posed more of a threat. Immobile even against Force blasts, the little turrets mounted two banks of mini-missile launchers, comparable to a few squad's worth of Mandalorian wrist rockets. Much heftier firepower, but easily avoided, and their missiles could be stopped by Force-shields or telekinesced branches.

Once upon a time, there had been Republic soldiers he re as well, a company of them, but that Republic was long gone.

Location: On route to the temple
Objective: Corruption

Warships, fighters, direct attacks. How close minded many sith were never failed to surprise Darth Abyss. Why risk so much when there were so many easier, more comfortable ways to get onto a planets surface, especially on a world that wasn't part of any major government or organisation. Public transport combined with the right amount of credits made it possible to hop from planet to planet without making noise on the way. The few that even were aware that he was on his way were payed well enough to look the other way. Money was a powerful tool if used right, able to twist minds almost as effective as the force. And the force was the other key element. Should someone resist his attempts to be bribed than he would simply shape a mind or two, until he would get what he desired.

The small landing shuttle had landed on a private space port a few miles away from his real target, a small research facility that studied the planets flora and fauna, and if they had any useful properties. He had payed enough to stay inside the enclosed room he rented on the shuttle until the few others on board, mainly businessman, left for their designation, so he could leave undisturbed, without the need for a silly disguise or any other method of masking his identity. Besides his mask that was. The rented speeder bike would get him closer until he would reach the area where he would only get further on foot. He had read that some lords discovered a way to bend space and time, getting from location to location in the blink of an eye. One day he would have to aquire that knowledge to make such ventures redundant.

When the vines and fungi became more and more of a barrier to his vehicle, he stopped the bike, and slowly descend on the ground. The others would create enough of a distraction to get inside the temple, at least if he played his cards right. Using the force to hide his presence would be enough until he would get in eye range of temple. His red blade glowing in his hand he began to cut his way through the jungle.

Yutan, Unaligned Space

The wild jungle around them teemed with life, primal and ferocious, an undercurrent of hidden menace apparent that made the place feel far darker than it was. Here was the nature of the galaxy represented at its core: full of life, all struggling with each other for space, food, warmth. Seemingly harmonious, but seething beneath the surface with hidden emotion, desperate to reach the surface and be free. The perfect home for predator and prey, each locked into a mortal struggle from which neither walks away unharmed. An irony that would shortly see life further on, when the dense jungle gave way to civilisation, to buildings of stone and metal.

The Jedi here had surrounded themselves with the darkness, seeing only the light in their actions: where life existed, so they imagined, so too did the Light. But the Light is a lie, the artificial glow of a lamp trying to push back the natural darkness. It may feel warm and comforting, but it can be extinguished so easily, and then only the dark remains. The Sith had come to show them the truth of their lie, to bring the darkness ever closer and show them the futility of being scared of the dark.

Velok led the way, but there was little doubt that the Sith would crash upon the Temple as a wave against a shore, though it was the Temple that would break beneath the waves, not the other way around. The Sith had come in force: even Kaine had joined his deadly forces to theirs, bringing ships and troops that would neutralise those naive fools and take their home for their enemy. There would be considerable pleasure in that, knowing that the Jedi here had been complacent for far too long. You thought us scattered, but here we are, just as it was in times past.

Tirdarius walked with the main body of the Sith, lightsaber still clipped onto his belt, his flowing dark robes rustling around him with each step. There would be little subtlety here: this was a show of brute force, a statement that would tell all that the SIth were not the vanquished, unfocused foe, a mere shadow of what had once been, but still a potent force more than capable of stepping on those that sought to oppose their goals. And so we shall. The Jedi here had been living on borrowed time, and the Sith had come to collect.

Alexandra Feanor

The Lady in Silver/Grey Historian
Alexandra was there for the simple reason of wanting to ensure that she had somewhere that she could study the Jedi without worry.

She did not know about the sith coming towards the location, a fact that was unknown to her and she was far more focused on the tree that she had planted when the Temple was first built. It was in no way as large or significant as the one on Alderaan, for her at least. No this was a sapling compared to that one but still every bit significant and was worth her focus.

Her head shook out the useless thoughts before looking towards the tree again and running her hand along it, dragging out a strand of force energy from the tree and closing her eyes. With a long exhale her body pushed the force through it and out of her hand, feeding the tree a good level of force enegy and working on strengthening the bond with the force. It was a hard to do this and worry about other things going on around her so the moment she started this process, her mind cut off from the world around it and left Daeda to be her eyes and ears.

A single Xo'Xaan-class Star Destroyer had lingered in the immediate system alongside a trio of Sadow-class Star Destroyers that had arranged themselves in a triangular pattern around the primary warship. It would be they who'd receive the transmission from the Pantoran Nubian yacht, a vessel that was quickly scanned and deemed non-threatening by the bridge crew and their stone-faced commander. However, the Star Destroyer's weapons did train on the yacht in the moments before the commander actually deigned to open communications with the ship's captain.

"This is Admiral Omarest Croscal of his Lordship's Apostolic Majesty Bellicose hailing the Royal Trade representatives of the Pantoran Republic. You are hereby ordered to depart this system immediately, failure to do so will result in your immediate termination as a participant of war. This will be your only warning."

Similar messages would be transmitted to other civilian and non-military vessels within the system, and already the forces of the Sith would not hesitate to already obliterate any ships that were either too slow to comply or were outright belligerent to the Admiral's declaration.

[member="Priscilla Genesis"]

As the transmission would come threw, Alfred's eyes would widen, he would let out a sigh and put his hands on his face. Stalling for a few minutes before returning to Priscilla's bed-chamber. He would open it with a heavy-hearted tone.

"Alfred where is my tea? It's been almost 10 minutes"

"Ma'am we've been threatened to leave the system or be declared as a participant in the war."

She paused for a moment, briefly thinking, crossing her legs over. She would reach for her holopad and type a brief message, sending it and then responding to him.

"We are to land on the planet and at least get the message out, I won't be standing for these barbarians messing with diplomatic actions. They won't be able to breach the deflector shields surely."

"Ma'am, I have also managed to make contact with the Jedi Temple. They have indicated they are preparing evacuation procedures and are currently attempting to assemble a militia to hold a local temple. I'll inform them we are preparing to land soon and to give us ground clearance."

"Inform the on-board escort to be ready, I have no doubt we'll be targeted as soon as we go into land. I'll contact my father and inform him immediately."

Alfred sighs as he exits the bed-chamber, an emergency alarm would ring out on the ship before quickly speeding to the planet, hastily with its above-average propulsion systems, while the deflector shields give it an illuminating glow which could be seen from quite a distance away. The yacht would enter the orbit of the planet as it landed in and around the Former Capital of the Republic. Old Relics could be seen, along with insignia's of the now distant and lost democracy.

As they exited the ship, Priscilla was followed by an escort of 8 escorting guardsman and a protocol droid. She was immediately greeted by the Temple's leader, who lead her to the planning room to discuss the upcoming conflict. A worried look on his face as he muttered something in his native tongue. The Protocol droid translated this as;

"Our time is now"

Darth Ophidia's Phasma Class Infiltrator touched down beyond the temple's outskirts. She preferred to keep a distance between her target and her means of escape, especially considering the unexpectedly large presence of ships. It was parked, concealed and guarded by her support crew while she got her speederbike out of the haul, straddled it and shot off in the direction of a hill she thought would give a good overview of the temple grounds and surrounding areas.

Upon arriving at the top of the hill, she dismounted the vehicle and inspected one of the thick jungle trees. It would do nicely. After strapping on her climbing gear, she began her ascent into the canopy. Out of all the things she had climbed in her work, trees were some of the more interesting. It was easier, if one had the right imagination, but also treacherous as only nature could be. Her ascent was quite quick, thanks to the climbing gear she had foresight enough to bring. Soon, she found herself sitting on one of the thick branches, peering through a crack in the dense jungle. Perfect, she thought as she aimed down her finger.

From her back, she retrieved a BTI 'Harpy' blaster rifle, courtesy of her prior service in The One Sith. Through the scope she peered down at the Jedi temple. Check your perimeter. That was one of the first and most valuable lessons she had learned, and an insufficient job doing it nearly cost her assassination on Csilla many years ago. The situation was far more messy than she had anticipated. Blackguards, droids, beasts of all shapes and sizes.

"I could get used to this."

She moved her scope from one route to another, taking mental notes of the turrets and droids, their positions and movements. Not to mention the advances of the Sith. Did she plan to sit there throughout the action? No, probably not. However, it did give her a good overview of the site. The moment she took a shot, she'd have to scamper. For now, she'd wait and watch until someone else made themselves visible.

Patience.

Yutan,
Yutan Jedi Temple

Before she was dispatched months and months ago to the edges of space on assignment she was invited to a conclave here at Yutan, one in which it was said one of her previous Masters attended. She had only recently returned from her voyage, an exhausted outer shell of what she was before she left she had only heard rumors...

It would seem this place was hallow as well, and only echoes of what memories were left inhabited this location. Her sole reason for coming was to see if it was true, on her way back to Exis she and two of her knights stopped by. She had just left war on the fringes of space and now returned to witness the effects of it once again...it only reiterated her decision; something she had concluded within herself.

"Much happened...that I was pushing off even when I was present. Selfish" she spoke to herself as they walked into an open corridor where she stood just looking around.

She had nearly only returned, her body was still bruised and bandaged. It was visible through the attire she wore. The layers of her more jedi-esque attire was scrapped in favor of something more comfortable. She hadn't thought of arming herself for a brief look around, perhaps a mistake on her part.

"I think we'll have much to be briefed on once we get back to the temple...thats for sure."

Darth Vitium's Apprentice made no grand entry. She did not come to Yutan with a fleet of ships following her, with loyal soldiers at her side, or broadcasting her presence in the Force. No, she'd arrived quietly, landed her completely average freighter with no hassle, and masked her presence using the art of Queytek. In a similar vein, she'd deigned not to add her body to the gathering of Sith led by Velok, but rather, she followed from a distance, hidden in the brush and growth. It was slower going, admittedly, but it allowed for far more subtlety in her approach. Oh, she'd join in the slaughter, to be sure - but she'd join on her terms, at a moment of her choosing. If she stuck to the shadows, unseen, she could allow the more experienced of her brethren to deal with the bulk of the automated defenses.

There was another reason she stuck to the shadows, of course, but it was one that she was ashamed to admit, even to herself - the open sky. In the midst of battle, it would be an afterthought, a minor annoyance. But for as long as she could manage, she'd stay hid in the forest - the terrain wasn't unlike Coruscant's Undercity, save that there were fewer dead bodies and more trees. Otherwise, however, it was no different than any of the obstacle courses (some may have called them 'streets,' but that was too generous a term for the Apprentice's taste) she traversed back home. That little fact meant that she, unlike many of her compatriots, had an easy enough time weaving her way through the foliage, and maintained a more or less steady pace behind the Sithy trio carving their own trail.

Rexus Drath

Well-Known Member
Rexus was your everyday joe who tried to live his life by helping others. He wasn't particularly strong, fast, cunning, hell he wasn't even the smartest fella around. But one thing he did have was heart. He had the courage and bravery to see an unjust situation and say no. To look into the face of evil and defiantly stand in its path was kind of his jam, and today was no different.

With his daughter attending college on Coruscant, Rexus had a lot of free time on his hands. With his wife having passed away he spent his time journeying to other planets and helping the less fortunate. And ever since the republic had fell Yutan was in need of that help. Farmers needed to farm and industrialists needed to... industry? Whatever it was the Jedi was there to help.

In Rexus' opinion of being a Jedi it didn't mean just creating peace and maintaining it. It also meant bettering it. So whether it was helping a local farm with their harvest, or volunteering at schools to teach medicine, it was a Jedi's duty to help the people. But today was more or less the traditional sense of being a Jedi and defending people from the darkness.

Having been staying at the temple, the Jedi was on a nature walk outside of the temple when everything started going down. So when the sound of explosions and lightsabers started popping off the man quickly moved his way towards the outer perimeter of the temple where he saw two Sith start to make short work of the old defenses.

Not wanting to use violence as his first option, the Jedi approached [member="Velok the Younger"] and [member="Thengil Ri'Shajirr"] from a decent distance as to not come directly in their path of destruction.

"HEY!! HEY YOU GUYS!! YEAH YOU!!" Rex yelled out and waved his hand towards them.

If the sith decided to look they'd see an older man in his 40s wearing jean shorts and a floral pattern button up shirt waving at them. If he had successfully gotten their attention he'd ask them a pretty simple question.

"So what are you guys looking to accomplish here?! If you're looking to destroy the temple then let me just grab my phone first! It's got my pictures and stuff on it! I mean it's backed up to the cloud but I just really like the phone!" Rexus made his case hoping he could indeed grab his prized phone.

If the sith were looking to destroy an old temple then they could. It was something that could be replaced. It was all just stuff. But if they were there to harm innocents then Rex wouldn't mind throwing down.

Just when the galaxy thought it had rid itself of the sith, they began to nibble away at the Jedi. Silvers, Republic, it didn't matter. A Jedi was a jedi no matter what government it stood beside and it was their calling to make their lives as difficult as possible. When the option to raid another temple was placed before her, Calina jumped at the opportunity. It was led by [member="Velok the Younger"], a whipid to whom she owed her freedom, though as yet, he had not asked for that favour to be returned. Among the infiltration group, was her mothers newest ally.

She watched [member="Tirdarius"] with keen interest, eager to understand why Anaya had chosen him and also, to understand why he tolerated the lethan. It wasn't like she hid the fact that she liked to manipulate people...perhaps he was above manipulation, or perhaps Anaya was afraid of him. The possible reasonings behind it were endless. She fell into step alongside him, fixing her gaze on the path ahead.

Kaine had taught her that the wicked tongue she used against her mother would not serve her well with other sith lords, so she opted to wait until she was spoken to as they progress through the jungle, her lightsaber swung at her side and she was surprised to find herself eager to use it.

Stealth and silence do not come natural when you are build like Krieg. Wide shoulders, a thickset build and large cumbersome feet cause problems when hiking through a thick jungle, where the vines and branches reach out like mossy fingers and legs intent on grabbing, nipping and pinching you. Flies and blood sucking pests circled the Sith Knight like vultures circling a carcass, eager to feast on him, or whatever he may drop. Strange, arboreal rodents could be seen clinging to the trees, each new species sporting a more menacing maw, or wickeder claw than the last.

Krieg let out a smile. Despite being a war hungry tyrannical maniac, the man could appreciate the natural world around him and found great interest in the biological make-up of whatever planet he happened to be visiting.

The Knight slowly cleared his mind of the tree hugging images, and instead filled it with all the incredients to cook up some Dark-Side lovin'. His mind was set on the fun that he would be able to inflict on whoever was foolish enough to stay the Temple following the Republic's downfall, imagining his blade making short work of Jedi instead of the branches it was forced to slay now.

All in due time. Karak muttered, mindful of the defences he could detect through the Force, and contemplating how to get around them.

"I wouldn't." The gruff voice of the Zabrak said over the com. Just below [member="Darth Ophidia"] , near one of the outer gates of the Jedi Temple, stood the Sith dressed in his casual mercenary clothing. To the Militia that had begun to gather to protect the temple he would look like another to join the defense. This was of course a lie, but what better way to get inside than to join the commoners in disguise?

He, just like the Pale, entered the world in his own Phasma ship, though his pilot droid remained behind with his to keep it hidden. The only visible weaponry on his person was the large gun on his hip and a rather average looking rifle in his hands. The rifle was fake of course, only meant to hold within the mans lightsaber. He didn't want to be ticketed as a Sith just yet, though with all the other Sith currently infiltrating from above, how many would notice one already on the ground?

"I dunno where Xavka is, but keep me posted on what you see. Once the battle begins, we'll make our move, aye?" Ferox spoke through the com to both Ophidia and [member="Darth Lykos"] . Xavka. Heh, it was a false name now. The only reason he spoke it was to prevent the other soldiers around him from noticing. Saying Darth in a crowded room of people wanting to fight Sith was a quick way to get just that.

None the less, he kept his eyes forward and moved in pace with the others. Soon, war would break out.

@People.

Abyss cut his through the jungle, the red glow of his blade stopping any predators from coming close to him. Not that he really saw a threat in animals, but the less inconvenience he could have on his way the better. There wasn't much to do for him besides making his way through the jungle until he was close enough to wait for the rest of the sith to hit the temple. He had no problem slaying jedi, but he didn't primarily came here to spill blood. He came to leave a symbol, or rather to create one out of something inside the temples garden. From what he heard the temple on yutan was decorated with a beautiful tree, a planet deeply connected to light. Wouldn't it be a shame if someone would make it into nothing but rotten wood, so corrupted that burning it down would be the best for it in the eyes of the jedi? Yes what a shame indeed.

Slightly amused by his thought he continued his way, the blade cutting through wood and fungi every time the sith lord let it fall down towards the ground. He wasn't do far away anymore, and soon it would be time to find a good position to wait for the time to strike. Making mental notes of his environment he could see the temple in the fringes of his vision, still to far away to see any detail besides the rough outlines. Only a bit further now.

The treeline wasn't cut of completely, but the closer he got, the less the jungle could obscure his figure. The temple was still far away enough to stay unnoticed, but if something would happen there he would probably see it or at least feel it. He lifted his body up one of the highest trees around him, climbing up to the top so he could better observer. Now it was time to wait. Hopefully the others hadn't decided to waste to much of their time, as Abyss wasn't really intrigued by the idea of spending the next few hours sitting on a tree.

Thengil stopped dead in his tracks, head swinging in the direction of the voice, and saw a human in a ridiculous outfit. The fur rose on the back of his neck. A low rumble like a pod racer's engine filled his throat for a moment, then abruptly cut off. The Cathar snorted and shook his head, braided mane swaying. Smoke from a wrecked auto turret near his feet coiled around him, leaving smears of soot across his golden fur.

"Retrieve your phone. We will come with you."

It was one thing dealing with militants, negotiating a price and leaving the arms transportation to capable pilots and a whole other thing being down on the surface during an actual engagement. Fear and adrenaline mixed in his blood as he followed the much larger figure of the Whipid before him. Velok still as enigmatic as ever to the young investment banker as he was during their first meeting cut through the thicket with his red lightsaber. A weapon Vitor never believed he would see. Yet, his amazement of it could not overtake his lightweight feet and heart that was about to burst.

The stench of the Cathar dangerously close to him did not help.

Vitor had no idea what he was doing here, he had no idea who the people besides Velok were but he had his suspicions. He was summoned to the coordinates from which the ship he boarded departed and only told to bring what he could wield. It was comical when he showed up with a tracksuit and a duraplast breastplate on top of it with an energy pickaxe hanging from his back while a repeating blaster pistol was holstered on his waist. Not a marksman at all, neither was he a soldier. Vitor had only been a couple of times to a shooting range and his pickaxe...well, it was the only actual weapon he could wield and it was not much of a weapon. This was how Vitor had to survive this trial of the Whipid.

He abruptly stopped at the sign of the rather abandoned defensive perimeter ahead of the group and instinctively crouched. For a moment, the former miner had the luxury of wondering whether his heart would explode when an actual fight occurred. Around him everyone seemed to be feeling at home.

Lovely.
