Private Scholars Station: Triad Tours

Squeeb sat at his unmatched unshakable seat of power! The Cantina, tapping a sonic microphone. Standing up, the small squib towered at a mighty 3ft tall, almost, an imposing presence if you were sitting or laying down, which indeed several of the guests had chairs. As he readied his speech. He tapped it once or twice, and it ttttwwwwwwwnaaannngggg’d, the speakers making a noise that might induce headaches.

Twenty guests sat in a room, free food, free drinks. A good chance to meet much of the galaxy in a single space. The triads had done an excellent job on this station they were building, it was HUGE, although it was half done, and the building work was ongoing. On the levels that were finished, you could see the potential for holidaymakers or for resort owners to set up shop, as well as casino owners or more nefarious groups.

The small freighter the guests were coming in on, was one of many arriving today, offering a free stay at one of the many hotels or arboretums. Lord Squeeb, who shall be known as Lord although he had no lands, title or even ship, was not doing a bad job of selling the merits of staying here to the twenty or so guests. Most of which were motivated to just want to spend their free credchit, a few wanted to see the gardens or simulated beach, and others to discuss business, it was a mixed crowd. Free credits was always a motivation to spread the word and get things off to a good start.

Taiden Keth Taiden Keth was nearby to Vanir Eris Vanir Eris somewhere in the middle of it all, as the freighter touched down and the Squib stopped his sales pitch. One might wonder why Squeeb was here, well that was to see which tourists were carrying what for later...

The traditionally white-clad Echani stood up and let Vanir move first, there a lot of options of things to do or see on this huge multi-level station, a mix of cultures, environments, or locations. Small eateries, large clubs, even rumors of an impressive library and museum, contrasting the holocenters loud music and suites to suit all tastes. If he hadn't already, it might be Taiden that first broke the ice to the stranger, assuming they exited the freighter... “there appears to be rather a lot to take in.” Taiden bowed his head, hands together. Out of his element in this deep and busy metropolis of life. There were mysteries in this artificial nation-sized station they were building, and one, in particular, that the Jedi needed to confirm. For now, Taiden looked about with a lost look upon his face, at the giant central level they found themselves on. Buildings stretching upward, the roof hard to see.

Oddly the station was as yet unnamed and that was something which might come as a result of those staying here, or what they nicknamed the place, a marketing ploy for those in the know.

Through a contact he received an invitation to a tour of some new resort. At first he had planned to dismiss it, artificial environments had no appeal. What caught his eye however was the mention of a library and garden. The trip, captained by their rodentian host, had been unusual for the Lopara. Shae, his spirit-brother was unimpressed of course, but then he was almost always disinterested unless they were hunting something. He kept to himself, the only other person who caught his attention was the Echani. That one stuck out like a very awkward thumb, like a lamb caught away from his herd.

Usually he was the one who stuck out, if it wasn’t his height it was invariably something else and it was refreshing. As he disembarked he caught the man saying something, which made him pause and look. Weren’t they even more silent and taciturn than say, a mandalorian? A comparison he suspected would get him in trouble had he said it aloud near the wrong ears perhaps. “Given that this place smells dead, compared to a normally live metroplus, you thinking this is overwhelming is funny. Not to be rude, but you must not travel much, am I right?”

Van had been all over the place since he came of age, especially since the nightmare event that left but a third of his clan upon their lands. He should be more sympathetic, after all he too had found the galaxy to be quite a hard bite to swallow. “Are you here for anything specific? I came for the library and garden and a small interest in the museum.”

He also had plans to leave once that business was concluded. The hollowness of the place bugged him. It was hardly lived in, it felt dead and for someone so used to being connected to the lives and land around themselves it was distinctly unpleasant. He was dressed in casual, but comfortable clothing. Loose, considering the cramped quarters of the transport, but neither too light or too warm. One might peg him as neither too wealthy or too poor, but in attire that wouldn’t be too unusual for either.

What did stand out was that it wasn’t synthetic material, but natural. His height at six foot eight definitely put him a head taller than most. The Echani certainly fell into the classification of the ‘shorter masses’.

Normally he would mind his own business, do what he came to do and leave, but something stopped him. He’d learned to heed the draw when it came to a person, place or thing. He wondered idly what would come from engaging with this stranger.

Given that this place smells dead, compared to a normally live metroplus, you thinking this is overwhelming is funny. Not to be rude, but you must not travel much, am I right?

Not travel much? There was almost a smile from the Echani. He had more duties in more temples than he could name by this point in his life, few involved cities or groups, or life in general outside of them. No family or significant other as result. Taiden bowed slightly at the understanding. “Less than i’d like.” Which was true. So duty-bound he’d forgotten what a busy street felt like or much outside of his work. “You seem more at ease.” Judging by body language, motion and the way the stranger carried himself.

Are you here for anything specific? I came for the library and garden and a small interest in the museum.”

“For better or worse I have many paths to walk,” Taiden admitted to Vanir Eris, “I should appreciate visiting the Gardens and library. Both on business but also for study.” Which was thankfully most of his work. There were certain herbs he was here to study, and then a library to study them in! Museums held an interest for the scholar but duty usually occupied his time. “Would you mind if I accompanied you?” Unknown to him, they both felt the same way about not getting involved in other’s business, he was one of the more reclusive Jedi you’d meet, ever in the background or following a teacher. Lifelong learning. Maybe that was why they found each other comfortable.

Our white-clad Echani scholar paused, “I believe it’s this way.” Looking down the walkway. He looked up, searching for stars that he could not see for directions, obviously there was no wind, stars or natural sound to hint direction. While they walked by the tourists filtering to the hotels, casinos or promenades he searched for a clue. There was a small device on his wrist under the white clothing, which Taiden pulled back to reveal. A screen shone silver to blue and he tried to bring up a map. Taking forever it seemed to operate the holonet, as if every step was laborious and deliberate. Hopefully, Vanir had some patience or perhaps just a map! There was often silence around Taiden, as if speaking was for other's benefit, he was communicating as his race did with every gesture.

This gesture was. I wish someone had given me a manual on how to operate the wrist device. I hope this is the right way. Should I stop and ask someone.
