- Lightsaber blades projected by this crystal are able to drain stamina from those it cuts and feed it back into the person wielding the blade along with a similar sensation to an adrenaline rush.
- Engraved with Sith runes along the surface of the crystal, with even smaller runes engraved within the etchings of the larger runes, a lightsaber blade produced by this crystal produces a draining effect on those it cuts. The enchantment of these runes causes the lightsaber it would be used in to act as a watered down application of the life draining abilities produced by the force, replenishing the person using the blade with the stamina siphoned from its victim and temporarily empowering them in a similar way to an adrenaline rush.
- It's a lightsaber crystal, and its effects are caused by the runes carved into it, if you break it then it no longer carries the enchantment and simply putting the pieces back together again does not work.
- Draining abilities are addictive and each successive application of the ability erodes the mind, body, and soul of the person using this lightsaber crystal until a hunger forms which requires a near constant draining of others to survive.
- This does not enhance the wielder's ability to drain the life from others, or act as a way to grow in skill with the ability.
- Force light and similar light side abilities can completely destroy the enchantments set in the crystal and turn the sith runes into useless carvings.
As a reward for his part in the conquering of the planet of Tammar, Sarrius Daruna was promised a creation of his choice from Braith Achlys. After careful consideration, a tool of war for which he may empower himself as he strikes others down was his desire. Sarrius' Maw was created based, in part, on a couple of Braith's earlier person creations, the Maw of Midnight and her more recent spear, as they both are able to siphon the stamina of others in a similar fashion. Accomplishing this process was a difficult and sophisticated series of steps, culminating in the engraving of Sith runes along the surface of the crystal for its enchantment to take hold - enchantments that would break if the crystal itself were ever to be broken or if a rather concentrated burst of force light were to strike it. As the sith runes themselves are the source of the crystal's ability to express the power Braith imbued into it as the ability most know as drain life, if the runes are altered or somehow removed then the power will no longer be utilized by any lightsaber blade created from this crystal.
