OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
PRODUCTION INFORMATION
  • Manufacturer: Saotome Foundry
  • Affiliation: Sasori Research
  • Market Status: Closed-Market
  • Model: Advanced Whammy Drive
  • Modularity: Able to be installed and scaled for fighters or ships
  • Production: Mass-Produced
  • Material:
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Advanced Engines designed as a predator with a slam system installed for a powerful duel drive system installed in ships improving speeds exponentially.
STRENGTHS
  • Predator interdiction System: Designed with an interdicition system like the predator. The field created is able to make a pulse for resetting hyperdrive safeties and even throwing ships off course with the strong pulse.
  • Built in SLAM drive: Designed with a slam accelerator to double the speed of the ship for a short amount of time. It isn't going to make a bomber beat an interceptor but it will let it deliver its payload and bug out.
WEAKNESSES
  • Maneuverability: While the SLAM is great for acceleration it is horriblkke for turning with the smaller ships. Sharp turns can tear the superstructure of the ship.
  • Explosive: The ultracapacitors are designed to augment and improve the power in the engines to make the iterdiciton bubble created and the slam both recharge faster but it can if damaged explode leading to heavy damage to the engines.
DESCRIPTION
Designed by Saotome to be a standard feature on their ships. Something to replace the stock engines of other ships that they have made. It is designed as a duel drive ion engine leaving room for a saotome hyperdrive or another type depending on what they want to buy. The casing of it is strong and uses the inth metal alloy that is more protective then durasteel and able to better handle the strain. The drive itself is special and very different from other ion drives with the inclusion of the predator system an old republic design that stored excess and wasted energy. To use less energy and be more efficient compared to some of the older models. This makes less waste that reduces emissions, not enough to make a reduced signature in terms of sensors but it can keep it from being overly massive.

THe other major technical aspect of the engines is that they are more scalable able to be made for their starfighters, shuttles and as large as they need for the massive cruisers and dreadnought. The predator as a secondary part of the engine is important, it builds up energy within flight to create an interdiction pulse. As a means to stop ships it is fairly simple but it is not a permanent solution. More last minute keep them in the system before they can escape to get that last shot to try and finish them off. The field's range is exceptionally larger with the size of the ship the engine is mounted on. Fighters might be able to get close to mid range while a star destroyer would be able to mimic for a moment a standard gravity well. A comparable idea is a hapen pulsemass mine that is small and carefully positioned for maximum effect. Within the bridge or cockpit for added effect the pulse switch it made to stand out so no one messes around with it.

To better update and improve upon the designs Saotome and Sasori rebuilt much of the engine. Based on the Commonwealths advanced model for their ships and fighters the standard whammy drive is by all indications.... a gem comparted to most starship engines. With increased preformance as standard and built in predator interdicition systems. The ships using them can outpace most others and prevent them from fleeing via hyperspace means. Anaara as one of the few business directors of Sasori who works on corporate worlds like Denon or Coruscant they worked to market it to many of the other corporations.
