Dominion Revenge of the Club (OPA Dominion of Bespin)

Cloud City is a paradise in the heavens. All recognize its critical strategic value to the region, both the Outer Planets Alliance and Dosuun Hegemony have declared Bespin's orbit a neutral zone under administration of the Red Dragon. Neither side is willing to risk its destruction. Raising money to help victims of the recent local conflicts Solstice Vine is extending happy hour for the Cloud City Classic. But make no mistake this is not yet friendly space. First Order or Eternal Empire agents could be lurking in every shadow, posing as one of the club goers or monitoring events from afar.

The city moves at even more of a frantic pace than usual for today is the biggest cloud car race of the year. Spectators are huddled together on skiffs and sail barges or from vantages within the city itself. Monitors at the Solstice Vine's bar are linked up to cameras running throughout the course. Today is race day, and from the unspoiled beauty of Cloud City it is difficult to believe the rest of the Anoat sector is currently fighting a brutal war of self-determination.

Objective 1: Don't have to much fun!

The crowds cheered as the holo-broadcasters announced the lineup for today's races. These races were surely looking up to be something spectacular.

Ki didn't have that much knowledge on the conduct or scoring, or actual racing for that matter, of this event. But that mattered not, fir this was a definite break from motherhood and empressing that was much needed.

For the time being, the fox was seated at the bar among other event attendees, enjoying some fine adult beverages and rowdy company.

Bespin was among some of the more well known of worlds in the Outer Rim, made famous for one particular Jedi Knight's visit and run in with the Empire some centuries prior, a tale more commonly read in the Jedi Archives than was actually discussed in today's light. That said, when the Outer Planets Alliance mentioned the possible need for added security whilst venturing there, Caedyn Arenais wasn't of the mind to decline.

The distance and frequency of travel that he did across the Outer Rim was one of the highlights these days in being a member of the Jedi Enclave of Svivren. A smaller branch of the greater Galactic Order, requiring much less hand-holding than temples the likes of Coruscant or the Academy on Jutrand; leaving Caedyn free to come and go, to travel and do whatever good he could manage out in the greater expanse and wild space of the Outer Rim, where the aid of a Jedi could be well needed. Especially with remnants of the First Order's imperial regime's activity was on the rise.

Twice now, Caedyn had been targeted by these Imperial Agents. The first strike was attempted on Faldos, and later they hit Svivren itself in a bid to bring the Enclave crumbling down. The Jedi fended off against the small invasion force, however the battle took it's toll and the Jedi of Svivren felt the blow all the same. A couple months had passed since then, and repairs had been undertaken to remove the evidence of such a bold attack, yet the memories and the knowledge that those responsible were still out there somewhere, still clung to the corner of Caedyn's mind and reinforced his need, and wish to be an active field operative, despite his role as caretaker and steward of Svivren.

Docking the Repertoire within the public spaceport of Bespin, Caedyn left his droid companion aboard the ship, moving down the landing ramp and out into the open air wearing the more casual attire that was suited to a spacers life, this time helping him to blend in a little better to the public as opposed to the statement his Jedi robes would make. Today was a day where a little more tact was called for, especially if he were to keep a vigilant eye on any possible reappearance of the assassin that had come for him on Faldos.

Objective of the Club - Bespin
Location: On Stage - Solstice Vine Lounge

With the races about to start, leading to the main event, it was time to get people in the festive mood. Eldin was here to help keep an eye on the crowd and look out for any suspicious movements among them, he was operative in plain sight. Here as part of the entertainment, lull anybody wanting to disrupt the occasion or spy. The briefing had been clear enough, agents from a couple of groups could be here lurking in the crowd, others would have to take care of monitoring the races however.

The lounge was filled, the lights went up and Eldin gut churned with nerves. It had been a while since he had sung, let alone in front of a crowd, but he knew he could do it. The music started and he ran on stage in his rather fetching cream and black suit and shinny leather shoes, he had even scrubbed up for the occasion and reveal to the world what lay under all that gruff exterior.

It was time to get this place pumping.

CLOUD CITY CLASSIC

Dear feth but this was gonna be a good time. Jerec checked off his mental list. Minimal and largely symbolic swig of cheap lum, backup repulsor belt in case of endless fall, a nice Twi'lek lady's number, entry fee paid in slightly sticky wupiupi, a cloud car tuned to the bleeding edge of regulation compliance...all the essentials.

Jerec clamped down on his nerves to the bet of his ability and levitated the cloud car above its takeoff pad. A droid starting light beeped happily.

Red.

Yellow.

GREEEEN.

A day off at the Grand Prix wasn't supposed to be something more than being one of the audience, or at most part of the VIP lounge. Yet, he ended up being mistaken for some infamous professional pilot by the name of - Hewis Lamilton - and was forcefully dragged into a cloud city car.

He wasn't sure how to feel about it.

Lights went off and Jude hit the throttle.

RPM went sky high and the cloud car burst forward...for a limited distance when the rest of the cloud city cars passed him by.

<CLUTCH! THE CLUTCH DAMN IT! YOU WILL FRY THE ENGINE, HEWIS. WHAT THE HELL?> engineering came through his helmet's comms.

In Dax's many years gallivanting around the 'Rim, he'd somehow never found himself on Bespin. The man couldn't really think of why he hadn't come to visit at least. Well, he supposed he just didn't have a good reason. And given all the chaos he tended to get himself into, he didn't exactly have the time for a vacation.

Now though? Dax sure as hell had the time to visit the Cloud City with the wife. He'd laid his sabers and slugthrowers aside. Well, sort of. He was still wearing them all...but, with any amount of luck he wouldn't have to use them for one godforsaken day of his life. Nope, just watching the races with the lady. "So uh, do you have any idea how this works beyond they kinda just go around a track a few times?" Dax asked as he leaned over towards the snow-haired woman besides him.

Through the bar the sound of some lively music began to play, and Dax couldn't help but look over his shoulder at the entertainers, tapping his foot to the beat as he did so. Instinctively, the Rogue reached into his breast pockets, pulling out a carton of cigarettes and tapping one out before staring at the thin roll of paper and shaking his head. Dax just got this new body. He wasn't about to ruin its lungs. Not yet at least. The man returned the poison to its carton, and the carton to the pocket, instead opting for good 'ol alcohol. A short sip, and a quiet warmth spread through the man as he gestured to the band playing while saying to Kimiko, "They're not that bad, huh?"

Although a few people were brave enough to join the dance floor the majority stayed seated tapping their feet to the music. For the most part, they seemed to enjoy his singing which pleased him, it was a natural untrained talent. Eldin could feel the sweat gathering on his brow from the first number, and the bright lights directed onto him. But through it all, his eyes scanned the room and for now, there was nothing out of the ordinary by way of unusual behaviour. There was one young lad enter the bar, did know him, a spacer by the dress which was not odd in these parts. He had some recollection that he was part of them Jedi out on Svivren.

He was about to start the next number, something as lively as the first after all this was a day to unwind and have fun, come the evening the ballardeers would take over the more mellow part of the evening. Some of the girls in the front tables were drawn to him, one of them making it very clear that she liked 'the cut of his suit', which only encouraged Eldin further as he lips curled into a grin before reveal his knock out smile.

And without further ado, he indicated to the band to play and launched into his next song.

A First Imperial shuttle touched down in a private hangar on Cloud City. Ariel flanked on either side by men in black suits departed the hangar. The Grand Prix would be held today, and in truth, Ariel did not care for the race. She came instead to study those who would occupy a former territory of the First Order, a territory in which her cousin so dearly loved. "Please you'll give us away if they haven't already spotted us." Ariel told the men, "fan out and keep an eye on things." All but one would fade into the crowd as they took the lift down to Cloud City proper.
Solistice Vine would be the target for Ariel, she could mingle and observe those around her. A tram from one end of the city to the other would be required, she twirled the Fleur-de-Lis pattern bracelet around her wrist. The one guard took a seat opposite of her hand looked the part of a businessman catching up with the news on his datapad. The quiet ride would come to its end and Ariel walked through a city of white and cream-colored buildings toward the clubs.
The suited guard would depart Ariel's side once the pair crossed the threshold of the Solistice Vine. "Well, the music could use a bit of work." She quipped to no one in particular, it wasn't her natural taste but assuredly this wasn't Avalonia and the classical tunes were not in season as it were. The Imperial opted to saddle up at the bar, she took a glance at the menu on the board behind the barkeep. "I'll take the Smirking Jedi Delight."

A few moments later the barkeep served it up, and Ariel took a sip. She smacked her lips together, "just a touch too sweet but otherwise, alright." She fetched a few credits to tip the barkeep with and settled into her seat to watch the Grand Prix.

Sheriff Zak was seated at the bar but unusually his back was to the spirits. A half finished glass of gin rested forgotten in one palm. Dangling from his lips was a cigarra nearly burned down to the end. Tears brimmed in his eyes. They were transfixed on Eldin Daine Eldin Daine . Ever since the first verse he'd been stunned into rapt attention.

"That voice...." he repeated over and over again, "Hey Yula are you seeing this?"

Wait. Where the hell was Yula Perl Yula Perl ? Was she even on Cloud City? This was her family's club but Zak couldn't remember exactly how he'd gotten here. The last couple of nights had been a blur. The last week really. He was normally pretty comfortable not knowing all the details but something inside him screamed that he needed to meet the gunslinger with the golden voice.

"Wushis name?" the drunken kiffar asked, tugging roughly on a bartender's sleeve.

"Don't touch me vagrant."

"Rrrawk! I got a lot riding on this race so no screw ups!" Kingsley snarled into his oversized headset, "You hear me?!"

"Utinni!"

Little cries crackled over the cloud car's internal com system. His jawa crewmates, more than a half dozen of them, were all crammed into the second car for as the smuggler captain put it 'tech support'. It was wildly uncomfortable he was sure but he didn't pay them to be comfortable. He didn't pay them at all in fact. A perfect arrangement.

"Here...we...GOOO!" the vulture man howled with delight and kicked their engines into overdrive.

His cloud car teetered dangerously to one side, dragged down in Bespin's atmosphere by the extra weight of the jawas stuffed alongside. After wrestling for a while with the controls he bobbed back into a semi-horizontal alignment.

"So long suckers!" Kingsley cackled madly at the sight of his competition's early woes.

His sabotage of Jerec Asyr Jerec Asyr had apparently paid off. Typically the jawas' efforts to similarly disrupt Sinestra Sinestra proved totally ineffective.

There were numerous occupants within the local Cantina that Caedyn had wandered on into, many of them with their attentions directed at the Holo-vids of the live Race that had just fired up, one of the main attractions of the day for which other smaller races would follow, plenty of credits to be made on the gambling scene of Bespin City, not that Caedyn was one for that sort of thing.

His entrance caught the notice of some, to which Caedyn offered a brief nod in mutual greeting, though didn't wish to call himself to attention more than was necessary and so he moved to the bar and signaled to the barkeep for a glass of cool soda, nothing alcoholic. Looking up to the holo-vision hanging above the bar counter, the young Knight briefly wondered what it'd be like to be one of the racers, the exhilaration of the crowd watching their every twist and turn, the slightest mistake meaning potential catastrophe and even death if the race track was treacherous enough.

Cheers from the local occupants called to the front of his concentration, turning to look and grin at the nearby group shouting excitedly as the race took off and the sounds of the engines could be heard even this far from the track, echoing across the skies of bespin from the central city. Caedyn's time in the bar would be temporary, brief for the interest in the crowd watching the race itself encouraged the want to ensure all was going accordingly. Before taking his leave of the bar however, there appeared another couple of entree's, one of which ordered the "Jedi's Delight" to which had Caedyn curious as to what exactly such a drink entailed.

"Interesting choice" he remarked in Ariel Yvarro's direction, a hint of a smile to show that he was sharing his amusement rather than calling for any sort of ostracisation of her appearance; "Enjoy". To Caedyn, the newcomer was just another new arrival and patron for the barkeep to serve. No harm, no foul and certainly no reason to be suspicious of her origins. Caedyn lifted his glass briefly in polite greeting, as if to toast the day before turning and heading for the entrance; intent on keeping a watchful eye over the City streets.

With an almighty crunch, Jerec's cloud car settled onto the landing pad in a way that repulsorcraft absolutely were not supposed to do. The orange plasteel(?) hull crumpled like an empty can of AetherSprite on a hot day. Smoke fountained up through every crack and crevice in the hood. Jerec smelled jawa.

He stripped off his helmet, a lovely Rebel Alliance-style pilot rig complete with localized atmospheric field generator, and climbed out to check the damage. It was, as his gut had already informed him, bad. Kingsley Kingsley and Sinestra Sinestra and the rest had an insurmountable lead. Apparently Jerec and the Cloud City Classic were not meant to be.

Normally he would turn the air blue at this point with every combination of feth, stang, drek, and shavvit. Instead he held his tongue for once, largely because that Twi'lek lady had promised to watch him race, and the holocams were bobbing away. So he cracked the hood and started repairing what could be repaired.

He yanked out something that smelled substantially like jawas. The cloud car hummed briskly back to life and took off, unmanned, with Jerec clinging to the front of it for very dear life.

Her tails swayed over the barstool she was seated upon in rhythm with the beat as she finished the latest glass of a dark whiskey. This felt good and she was having fun. Her head turned to her husband, grinning in buzzed daze, and shook her head rapidly from side-to-side. The excitement of the gathered quickly caused her to turn and join the cheer, at what she had no clue. During this, she bumped into Ariel and quickly turned to apologize,"I am sho sowwy for that!" before falling into a fit of giggling.

His set was coming to an end, having worked up the crowd to get into the mood of the day, and throughout the last song there had been movement in the lounge. Whether drawn to the place by the music or other reasons, he kept an eye on them, it was easy from up here you got a bird's eye view of the lot of them. Seems that he was not alone in watching the crowd, the young spacer lad approached a girl that was by herself it appear, which was odd in itself, he doubt a young pretty girl like that would come alone. A business guy who looked at like bit too much 'all business' in a place like this, on a day of celebration, did not take his eyes of the datapad he held in his hands. However, his eyes flicked up just as the young spacer started to approach the lady all alone.

Others that entered the room, he knew of if not met, their faces were familiar within the ranks of the OPA rank and file. After the applause died down, Eldin started his final song.

Once more applause erupted and Eldin took his final deep bow at the waist. He had to admit to himself he enjoyed that greatly and he smiled that killer smile in appreciation before jumping off the stage into the crowd of dancers. They pattered him on the back as he moved toward the bar, one girl came up and slipped him her 'number' into his jacket pocket with coy grin. At that moment, he realised there might be something in this that could be very beneficial. But finally he broke through the crowd, and approached the bar keep, who had already had his drink ready and waiting for the singer. Lawdy he needed that, and he downed it in one go, another was quickly replaced before him.

Holding the fresh drink in his hand, Eldin turned to watch over the crowd once more, after all he was still on duty and would keep an eye on the 'business man', and the pretty lady with the young spacer. Although his head turned to see another young man sitting beside him ( Zak of Amroth ), with tears brimming in his eyes looking at him. "Can't be all that bad?", he said raising his glass to his lips this time sipping slowly.

She was sitting on the platform looking out to Cloud City, there were ship in the air again, and it seemed once more someone else was coming to lay claim the city. Sometimes though these folks they forgot about something that they needed to take care of the miners.

Everyone was so focused on the jewel, the city hanging there so effortlessly a beacon of commerce and high living. But not everyone lived high the miners in the lower levels they lived like the folks in the lower levels of Coruscant.

Maybe that was the thing she was drawn to the under dogs the ones who really worked for a living.

Off to her right she heard someone she turned quickly, "Hey Leon"

Leon was new took the place of someone who finally got some relief and left this world and went somewhere else to rest. They both sat there quietly pondering what to say or do next.

The singer kept playing his songs as more patrons walked into the bar. A woman and man who both seemed far too well dressed for anywhere in the 'Rim, except for maybe the illustrious Cloud City, were some of the few that Dax actually took note of. Mostly because the woman took her seat on the other side of Ki.

The second thing that caught Dax's attention was a familiar voice uttering a familiar name. "Hey Yula are you seeing this?" Dax looked over towards the source of the voice, only to be greeted by the sight of the one and only Zak Amroth. And he was drunk. Again. The Judge was currently accosting the very annoyed bartender for the name of the singer. Why was Dax not surprised?

Dax would have walked over to the man and annoyed his drunken his form if it weren't from the very rapid head shaking coming from his wife as she downed the last of a rather dangerous looking drink. "Alrighty then..." the man muttered as he gestured towards the bartender for a glass of water. "Alright hun, how about some of this instead? This chit is the good stuff," he said to the drunken Kitsune as he took the empty glass from her and replaced it with the glass of water. There we go...maybe. Chit, nope, Ki just bumped into the well dressed lady...good thing she was holding a glass of water now.

"I'm so sorry about that," Dax said, leaning over the giggling Ki as he pulled her away from the woman, "she's had a bit much...sorry." Man, Dax could not remember the last time Kimiko had drank this much...

"What a day! What a lovely day!" Kingsley cackled to himself.

He was at the head of the pack, exactly where he was meant to be. Bespin's skyline was a heavenly sight to see but the vulture paid his breathtaking viewscape no mind. All he could think of was a galactic games regulation swimming pool filled with talons and credit chits. This was it. He was finally going to be rich.

"Gogowa!"

"Relax! No one could hope to catch-" he trailed off.

Coming up on his starboard was non other than Jerec Asyr Jerec Asyr in flagrante. Hot on his tail Kingsley caught sight of Sinestra Sinestra .

"Rrrawk! Inconceivable!"

This wouldn't do. This wouldn't do at all. After throwing a mild temper tantrum Kingsley's beak curled suddenly into a predatory grin. He waited until Jerec was almost neck and neck before hauling his cloud car's controls onto a collision course that would knock the other craft violently aside and in all likelihood send its exposed pilot tumbling to his death.

He missed.

Kingsley was no ace pilot. He misjudged the timing badly. From Falkrowe's point of view the smuggler captain spun out of control. He pounded at the cockpit in a rage as cloud car after cloud car sped past him. By the time he'd course corrected he was in last place.

He'd only heard singing like that once before. Well not exactly like it. But for some strange reason his voice reminded Zak of the Kyber Temple on Jedha where he was raised. Some of the monks could sing if moved to. None of them had talent quite like this man though.
