A lab-grown clone of an unknown pureblood Sith, Resh was designed to be the heir of a growing dark side cult within the Core. But despite the Cult's efforts, Resh consistently expressed conflicted feelings, and found the weight on his shoulders distressing. After he was recovered by a Jedi operation that dismantled the cult, Resh cautiously accepted a role within the Order, wanting to do something good with his life, but fearful of his inherent nature.

The origin of his DNA is alleged to be a powerful ancient Sith Lord, but this claim comes from the cult that raised him, and its veracity is indiscernible at best. They certainly believed it.
