Detours were normally a huge hassle, and this one wasn’t much of an exception. But with the cosmic scale obstacle in the way of his destination Okuma took the liberty of going to Veridia before his professional mission was over. Hoping that now he could be united with a part of himself that had been stolen from him. Too often now has he put his trust in others to shape him and become something bigger than himself. Now Okuma decided what and who he was by himself.

Okuma was coming prepared, geared up in a way that was reminiscent of his time on the force at Nar Shaddaa. Black fatigues, knee and elbow pads, tactical belt and chest rig with plenty of munitions. On him was his reliable DH-17, a vibroblade made of ultrachrome, thermal detonators, as well as a small concealed czerka slugthrower holstered at his wrist. Those paired with his extensive augments would be the bulk of his equipment. Any more and it could prove to be more of a crutch he’d be overly reliant on instead of his extensive martial and tactical knowhow.

It was dark and stormy on Verida, late into the night where the only source of light was the occasional flash of lightning across the rainy skies. A perfect night for Okuma. Using the darkness and storm as cover for himself to enter the secluded, secret compound on the remote planet. Ready to neutralize any target that dared to cross his path and get in his way. He was too close now to his goal that he wouldn’t let it slip by because of a micro-second of hesitation. With his augments and who he would be facing, micro-seconds was all he’d be able to afford.

Now on the campus of the temple Okuma glanced down at his datapad to view a map of the location. One of the documents he managed to get from the Temple on Coruscant. Giving him a detailed look at the various buildings, their purpose and layouts. Having studied it plenty before coming here and already having half a dozen routes planned for him to enter and exit smoothly without getting lost.

The Veridian Jedi Temple was a temple of secrecy and boasted of high security. Fortunately for @Okuma, Milogen had obtained the stolen credentials from Jasper Kai'el Jasper Kai'el along with some basic schematics and information held at other jedi locations, and that seemed to be enough to grant him access. The halls at night were quiet and undisturbed. This was a place of learning and recovery after all and all was still and hushed.

It wouldn't take Okuma long to find the Hall of the Fallen, where statues, memorials, and plaques lined the walls. One section in particular held various lightsabers and their crystals on display, many of which belonged to Jedi who had fallen in battle or had fallen from grace. Sure enough, Okuma's very own lightsaber came in to view. It was mundane in design and simplistic in its form, but unmistakably his as it rested on a display above a holo-plaque bearing an inscription upon it.

Padawan Okuma Milogen
Disbarred, disgraced, and severed from the Light.
His blade remains— as a symbol of warning.

This saber belonged to Okuma Milogen, once a Padawan of the Silver Jedi.
Banished for the fatal act of tearing a man apart through the Force, his connection to it was severed by his superiors.
It rests here in memory—for he is not remembered for how he served,
but for the moment he could not hold back the storm within.
His exile was absolute.
His saber remains, a relic of wrath unrestrained, and the burden it leaves behind.

Stepping up to the display, Okuma's topaz eye glared at it narrowing as he read the warning on it. Despite everything, what he'd been through, what he’d lost time and time again. He didn’t regret his actions. He would do it all again.

The shadowy figure began to reach up, his gloved fingers curling around the sturdy hilt. Its touch floods him with familiar memories. Memories of pride and optimism. He couldn’t feel the connection he once shared with the gemstone that lay within it. But he knew that it could feel like his return. His thumb gently slid up to the ignition readying himself for a moment to once again bask in its blue radiance.

But just before he did, he sensed another. Behind him, through the most subtle of audio feedback from his sensory package. Okuma snapped his body around. One hand unholstering his pistol, the other unseathing his vibro-blade as it buzzed to life. Holding a weapon in each hand. The lightsaber hilt, already securely holstered on his belt with practiced ease becoming of one who diligently trained and handled such a weapon.

Okuma was almost entirely covered head to toe. All that showed was his one eye and his silvery white hair. A neck gaiter covered the lower half of his face. He looked at the raven haired man before speaking.
“Master Raene I presume… Thank you for taking such good care of this saber for me.”

Heliotrope-colored eyes stared at Okuma through the dark of the hall glinting off the faint glow of holoplaques as the only real illumination within.

"You presume correctly, young man," Tirin said softly.

The man was dressed in nothing but a set of soft satin night robes, draped loosely over his slender frame as long black hair cascaded down his willowy shoulders.

"It would have been nice to know I was to have company this evening… though you've chosen to enter this temple quite late—with someone else's key, no less."

He gave a small shake of his head. "Your actions so far have been far from the kind of honesty and integrity I expect from guests. This is a sacred space. Please, stow your weapons, Okuma..."

Tirin's gaze traveled over Okuma, trying to discern his intent.

He had personally curated all the artifacts, reliquaries, and placards that lined these halls, memorials and fragments of history honoring many Jedi who had come and gone. Unlike Okuma, Tirin stood perfectly still.

"What are your intentions here?"
he asked plainly, his voice unflinching.

He knew what emotion could drive people to do, what dangerous, desperate choices they might make just to feel something in the moment. Okuma's Force aura was fluctuating wildly, and Tirin could sense the weight behind it.

If there was a path to peaceful resolution, Tirin would take it.

If all the young man sought was a single token of sentimental value... then perhaps it was better to let him have it. No one needed to be harmed. But if he intended to hurt anyone, that was where Tirin drew the line, firmly and without compromise.

It wasn’t too shocking for Okuma to learn that he was already identified. It wasn’t a difficult connection to make. Still it went to show that he was being concerningly unprofessional at the moment. “My intentions are to take back what is mine. To no longer leave it behind like some museum piece.” Being used as some exhibition to warn others of the dangers of their power and responsibility. To craft his legacy as one of shame and failure.

Still the Kage didn’t stow his weapons yet. Keeping them firmly within his hands. Part of him wondered if he could end this jedi right here and now. To Blitz and overwhelm with shock and awe. It was one of the better and more consistent ways of getting an advantage over Jedi.

“Maybe if this place wasn’t so secretive I could’ve reached out and scheduled a reservation. I had to go through some serious hoops just to get this far.” Okuma’s voice carried a tinge of desperation. Like someone who believed they had come too far and had too much to lose. Like an agitated cornered animal.

He tried not to think about it, but the words kept repeating in his head.

‘Disbarred, Disgraced and severed from the Light’

He knew he was unwelcome but it hurt more to know just how much. Shunned by the grace of The Light and the agents of her will.

“Don’t get in my way Master Jedi… I got enough thermal detonators on me to level this entire place.” Even though thermal detonators packed some serious destructive capabilities his words were slightly hyperbolic. Yet they could still bring calamity to the temple.

Tirin was eerily calm as he listened to Okuma speak. His expression barely shifted, but his voice carried a weight that was impossible to ignore.

“There are sick and injured individuals here,”
he said softly, “and the children are sleeping.”

He held Okuma’s gaze without flinching.

“Whatever anger you carry... and what they took from you, I won’t disparage. But this place is not your battleground. These people are not your enemy.”

He didn't take his gaze from Okuma nor did he move just yet.

The silence between them stretched with tension and restrained judgment. Tirin did not so much as blink at the threat, though his expression dimmed subtly with disappointment.

“Then you’ve truly come seeking only to reclaim a weapon... with another pointed at your head.”

His robe sleeves whispered as he moved finally, one hand lifting in invitation of all things. Tirin was the picture of a calm and composed individual. Still barefoot on the polished stone, Tirin took a single step forward and lowered his voice to something quieter than the raging thunder storm outside.

“You are not the first to feel betrayed by the Order... And you will not be the last. But threatening to reduce this place to ash will not undo your exile, nor redeem your legacy. It will only confirm the story written on that plaque. Is that what you want? To prove them right?”

He let that question settle, before continuing, tone soft as summer rain.

“I will not stop you from taking your saber. That choice is yours. But the legacy it carries...that, you choose tonight.”

There was no saber in his hand. Nor did he call to arms. No defensive posture was struck by the sleepy eyed master. Just the oddly serene steadiness of a man who had seen too many young warriors swallowed by vengeance and pain, who seemed reluctant to raise a weapon against one more.

"You’ve crossed an ocean of shadows to reach this hall. You don’t have to be the man that plaque says you are. Not unless you choose to be.”

Okuma hesitantly stepped back as Tirin reached for him. Practically flinching. The normally calm and collected merc was now jumpy and anxious. He had no desire to demolish the temple and those within it. It was only a threat, to take the campus hostage in case The Jedi tried to stop him. The Kage didn’t want it to come to that, but he also felt he needed some sort of leverage here. Some element of control.

“I never thought it would be on a display like this…” Okuma said. “I thought it would’ve been locked away, buried and forgotten.” The Kage couldn’t tell what was worse, to pretend like he never existed or to have been made an example out of.

“I just wanted to help… I did help, I did what was right…”

Could he just walk out of here? Be allowed to get what he wanted without anyone being hurt. Being here had him think about his own memories of learning to be a Jedi. Remembering how the fights we avoid are the ones we always win.

However, there was a sudden bright flash through the windows that for a moment illuminated the two men. A startling spark of lightning nearby as thunder loudly reverberated through the air. Briefly triggering a flight or fight response from the augmented Kage as he raised his blaster towards the Jedi.

Was the mercenary simply capitalizing on the brief chaos and noise created by the storm? Or was it a mistake, his nerves getting the best of him and trigger happy habits taking over as his augments kept him from relaxing? Not even Okuma was sure.

But under the cover of thunder Okuma squeezed the trigger in a hasty attempt to shoot the diplomatic Jedi.

The flash of the bolt lit up the chamber, and without so much as raising a finger, the blaster bolt stopped midair. A golden shimmer of Force energy caught the green bolt, akin to a bubble, then let it dissipate, fizzling out inches from Tirin's chest. Tirin's dark heliotrope colored eyes never left Okuma.

The Master took a single step forward, unhurried, his voice a velvet whisper beneath the thunder.
"This is not the man you want to be remembered as."

The air around them shifted in a subtle manner becoming dense, and full of pressure.

"But if you insist on clinging to violence... I will take that burden from your hands."

In the space of a breath, the Force wrapped around Okuma's weapons, not yanking, but exerting an ever-tightening grip, like fingers coaxing tension from a trembling fist. It was not violent, however it was inevitability.

"Disarm yourself, Padawan," Tirin said gently. "Or I will do it for you." Okuma would start to feel the force around his person as there was constriction around his wrists.

Okuma’s grip began to struggle against the invisible force Tirin began to exert on him. The Master never flinched or moved their body. The muscles not only in his wrists and hands, but his arms as well began to strain. Doing his best to keep them up in a defensive posture.

But his struggle was largely in vain and Okuma knew that. Being a Jedi once himself he knew how outmatched he was. He couldn’t be too direct and needed to take and press every single advantage he had to close the gap between them.

A Tirin addressed him as a padawan; it made the Kage harshly clench his teeth under his mask. “You….You have no right to give me orders!” Okuma shouted, losing his temper some as he once more squeezed the trigger of his blaster several times. One after another more green blaster bolts shot out from his pistol. Most of them harmlessly impact the walls and floors except for one that. Hitting a particularly reflective surface before it began to recklessly bounce around the room some until it struck a window. Allowing wind and rain to pour in from outside.

Hoping to capitalize on the moment Okuma his hidden augment. A comprehensive cybernetic enhancement that quickly recruited neurons and muscles across his entire body. Tirins’s focus seemed mostly on the weapons Okuma was holding, and not the rest of the mercenaries body, a living weapon in of itself. Quickly turning his body and raising his leg with a bent knee before ending it at Tirin’s center mass to deliver a hard side kick to the Jedi Master.

Tirin's focus faltered for only a moment, his gaze flicking toward the shattered windows above. Rain and glass poured down in a curtain, but his response was immediate, a shimmering Force barrier surged to life just in time to catch Okuma's driving kick with a resonant thud.

He drew in a slow breath, the sound almost weary, and released it in a sigh laced with something between pity and disappointment.

A faint tsk followed as he raised a hand, graceful and effortless as he swept it to the side. The Force obeyed, surging outward in a controlled wave that sent Okuma skidding several feet across the slick floor, veering sharply toward a nearby wall.

"My, what a temper you have…" Tirin murmured, "Such passion. Pity it's so poorly directed...Do try to compose yourself; This.... is all quite undignified. You're not the first to strike at me in rage. None of the others fared well."

Of course there was a barrier between them. It’s been a while since Okuma has had to face a Jedi head on like this, he was rusty. Paired with his mounting frustration Okuma wasn’t in a good place to even be doing this.

As Okuma was pushed away onto his back he slid across the now wet floor. Using some of the momentum to roll his entire body back and get back onto his feet in a fluid motion indicative of a decent Form IV recovery. The Kage straightened his posture and took a deep breath. Raising one of his hands up to his eyepatch Okuma harshly removed it from his head and discarded it off to the side.

"Guess we'll find out if I can be your first... Who knows maybe you'll like it."

Once he finally opened the hidden eye it revealed a faint red glow. Using the augment to get a better read on Tirin. To pick up on the Jedi’s subtle micro movements that would slip past his skilled perception. Still he didn’t use his other hidden, yet more comprehensive augment. Waiting to utilize it at the right moment to maximize its potential.

Okuma holstered his blaster pistol and in his other hand flicked his vibro blade around into a reverse grip. The weapon buzzed intensely in his hand as he held it up. The few droplets of rain that fell onto the blade rapidly aerosolized akin to hitting the blade of a lightsaber.

The Mercenary rushed the Jedi once more. Striking out with the blade and unarmed. Jagged jabs and stochastic slashes whizzing towards Tirin. He hadn’t expected to land any hits yet, he was hoping to learn and observe what he could of the Jedi’s immediate defenses here while his ruby and topaz eyes hectically darted around Tirin’s body.

And then...he let the barrier go.

There was no shimmer of the Force between them now, and no invisible wall to catch the strike. His eyes, remained on Okuma unblinking, remained locked on Okuma's even as the augmented mercenary closed the distance.

The impact was sharp, a jolt through the ribs that staggered him half a step back. The air left his lungs in a quiet exhale as blood seeped from the wound staining his night robes, but his hands never rose, and no counterstrike came. Rain streaked through the broken window, beading along the folds of his night robes as he steadied himself.

A weak, almost rueful smile ghosted across his lips.

"You wanted to hurt me, Okuma… so here I am. Hurt. Does it feel like victory? Isn't this... the reason your saber was taken ?"

Much to the Kage’s surprise his vibroblade found purchase within the Jedi’s chest. A killing blow for most, even a rancor. The jumpy mercenary almost flinched back as he pulled the blade out of Tirin. Half expecting some retributive blast of force energy but instead there was nothing. Nothing but words.

Still Okuma's sense of immediate threats weren’t put to ease. Doubt over the damage he managed to inflict has him looking over his shoulder to check if anything threatened his flanks. But soon enough he turned his red and yellow eyes back onto the Jedi. Listening to Tirin’s words his body relaxed ever slightly.

“My saber was taken because pacifists like you got in the way of what needed to be done. Hurting you wasn’t what I’m after Master Jedi, don’t give yourself too much credit…” Okuma replied harshly. As though the skewered Jedi meant nothing to him. “But better you bleeding, than some inquisitive padawan ay?” With that said Okuma deactivated his vibroblade before wiping the blood off with his sleeved arm. The fabric wettened by the rain that had splashed across it.

Valin had known the very moment Tirin was hurt. The faint echo of commotion had already drawn him through the temple like a beacon, but the instant he felt Tirin's pain through the Force, he broke into a sprint, urgency burning in his chest.

He burst through the temple doors with his vibroblade in hand, breath sharp, eyes blazing. And then he saw it; blood staining Tirin's robes. Far too much blood starting to pool on the ground.

"Tirin!" The name tore from Valin's throat, ragged with panic. He was at his side in an instant, hand brushing against him for the briefest moment, needing to feel he was still there.

Then his fury ignited. In the next breath Valin was on Okuma, vibroblade flashing in great sweeping arcs. Wide, heavy, and far too quick with each strike carrying raw intent to kill, to cut the intruder down before he could lay another hand on Tirin.

Okuma stepped back some as a much taller and brawny Jedi suddenly made their way into the room. They carried with them a massive blade compared to Okuma’s own. Making the Kage feel his own weapon was a bit inadequate. Even after stabbing the master moments before.

Unlike Tirin, this new man seemed far more intent on eliminating the mercenary threat here at the temple. The grey man moved against them to avoid being cleaved in two. They moved the blade with far more speed and dexterity than he would expect for a weapon of that size.

Okuma used his reflexes and positioning to defend himself from its edge. His preternatural movements lacked any guidance and aid from The Force. A combination of skill, talent and augment allowed the Okuma a competitive edge. A slight smirk crept over his colorless face. Partly thrilled now to be facing some proper resistance.

The man he faced now seemed too distressed over his friend, and likely not focused enough. His single red eye looked over their features, the scarring and relatively paleness of one half of their eyes. Quickly deducing that it may have been blind, creating an exploitable opening for Okuma.

The Kage side stepped a heavy attack from Valin before finally attempting to counter strike. Okuma raised up one of his legs and tilted his body back. At the same time he unbent his knee the rockets in his boot sparked to life and helped shoot his leg out in a fast and harsh round house kick to the side of Valin head where their blind spot was.

Valin's vision was little more than a blur, the injured eye clouded, effectively blind, but the Force filled in what sight could not. Weak as his connection might have been, it was still enough. He felt the intent a heartbeat before it struck, raising his metal hand to catch the blow and twisting sharply, seizing Okuma just above the ankle.

With a sudden wrench, Valin yanked him backward, small frame tearing off balance, before slinging him across the room like a ragdoll. The motion carried with it a brutal shove of Force energy, propelling Okuma into the wall with bone-rattling force.

Valin didn't relent. He closed the distance in a storm of steps, blade raised high. The blade came down in a vicious arc, intent to cleave Okuma in two. There was no restraint, only the raw, unyielding aggression. He fought with the ferocity of a cornered attack dog; he meant to exterminate his foe, not duel him.

They’d managed to catch his rocket guided boot before it connected with the side of their face. This man wasn’t just some brute, they had some sense. There was little the Kage could do against the immediate retaliation. Being brutally slammed into the wall like a ragdoll. Knocking the breath out of him before his body slumped down against the wall after the impact. His body was now hurting. Red and yellow eyes darted up to see the follow through. This man didn’t seem to wanna take any chances with Okuma, that was smart. Much wiser than the apparent sage he’d gutted a moment earlier.

Now seemed like it was as good a time as any to pull out the ace in his sleeve. Upon neural activation his Response IMprOVMENT Package surged with energy across his body. The world around him felt as if he had slowed greatly. Every nerve across his body was on fire as it drew out the duration of the pain from his impact. Okuma almost sluggishly pulled himself back up onto his feet. At least it felt sluggish to him yet he managed to do so before Valin’s blade was able to strike him. He side stepped the weapon before finally drawing in a breathless breath. Feeling as though he was left in an atmosphere without oxygen. Where his breathing was faster than his own body’s ability to metabolize the fresh air he took in. Effectively living in a vacuum for a brief time.

Once he was up on his feet again and out of the direct path of the blade the augment would power down some. From another perspective it coulda looked like a burst of Force Speed that he just initiated for a recovery as he went from slumped against the wall to standing against it. Looking up at Valin, Okuma’s grey features had a noticeable red tinge. In that moment he’d burned a considerable amount of calories and it left him looking flushed. On top of that the mercenary had an excited smile. Glad to finally test his augment in live combat.

“Thank’s for crashing the party, you’re much more lively than your friend!” He said before blasting his body once more with the Response IMprOVMENT Package. This time using it for offense as he dashed towards the towering man. Looking to blitz the larger opponent with a dazzling flurry of blows. Unleashing the legendary power of Fifty-Two Fists against Valin all while sped up by the cybernetic. Like a blur his strikes went out against Valin’s body like a machine gun or the pistons of an engine. Lightning fast punch that peppered up his body from his hips up to his face. Eventually climaxing in a committed strike to Valin’s solar plexus. Making it worse by altering his fist slightly on the last punch to have his middle finger slightly extended to jam into the middle of the Jedi’s chest.

Once he did so Okuma’s perception came back to a baseline and he let out an exhausted and anguished breath. His skin red with exertion. The mercenary took a wobbly step back from dizziness taking over his body. Trying his best now to catch his breath and control his breathing. It was clear that that kind of power came with a steep price.

Valin was battered by Okuma's desperate resistance, yet his fury did not falter in the wake of his brutal barrage of bare-handed battery. He pressed on, trying to cleave the man in two swinging his blade in sweeping arcs enhanced by the force. Driving forward, he slammed his shoulder into Okuma's lateral line, just beneath the left pectoral, and carried the momentum through. With viscous intent, he lowered his head and snapped it forward in the same breath aiming to crack his forehead against Okuma's to gift him with the savage,'kiss'. His right metal hound reached outwards in an attempt to snatch the Mercenary by his belt.

Tirin collapsed onto the cold stone, vision swimming as consciousness threatened to slip away. He drew a steadying breath, forcing his focus inward, letting the storm of violence around him fade to a distant murmur. With practiced serenity he pressed his will against the wound, guiding the Force through his body to still the bleeding, to mend the worst of the damage enough to hold him in this fragile moment.

His lashes fluttered, breath cool and deliberate as he lifted a trembling hand. The air itself seemed to hush as invisible currents stirred; Valin's fury was seized in a delicate grip of the Force. The hulking warrior froze mid-motion, suspended in stasis, before being drawn back with a grace at odds with his size. There was no violence in the gesture, only an almost tender restraint, a master's quiet insistence to halt the savagery before it consumed them all.

"Enough. This temple will not become a slaughterhouse. Valin… breathe. Let go of your anger before it burns you hollow. I need you with me...let him go Knight Zenth, before you fall in to the same darkness that has claimed so many. And you... Padawan Okuma… walk away, before either of you is lost beyond return."

Okuma’s nervous system and reactions needed a moment to recalibrate. The use of his implant made it feel as though time had dilated briefly. He also noted a sudden wave of additional soreness deep within his muscles. He needed to keep in mind that it would be good to limber up before using the implant.

Seeing that his little flurry of blows seemed to have little effect on Valin, Okuma grew worried that he’d mostly likely caused more harm to himself than his opponent. The sudden impact against his head rattled his senses further and once more had him back against the wall. His red eye glared up at Valin just as they grabbed his belt, and his hand reached down and grabbed his blaster from its holster.

Quick drawing the weapon just before Valin’s body began to freeze up. His yellow gaze darted over back to Tirin from behind the larger man. To the Kage’s surprise they were still alive and able to speak.

His eyes narrowed as he was called a padawan again, his finger almost reflectively squeezing the trigger of his blaster in frustration from the verbal sting. Okuma then pushed Valin away from himself to get some distance.

“Best take your friend's advice, big guy… wouldn’t wanna end up like a certain someone…” Okuma practically hissed. He’d gotten what he needed and learned a bit more about his capabilities and limitations as well. There was no need for him to stay and draw this out.
