Referendum (Silver Jedi dominion of Ringo Vinda and Metalorn)

vote-yes-or-no-referendum.jpg

Objectives:

Ringo Vinda:

Objective 1: Referendum

Tensions run high among the population, in Quendelton, the planetary capital, as well as the Aldanna Mountain and the Tiplar Dunes, as the latest polls in a referendum called by the current government in power on Ringo Vinda regarding the adhesion of the planet to the Silver Jedi Order show the "yes" and "no" camps in a deadlock. Try to make public apparitions in rallies, and take part in other campaign events so that Ringo Vinda can peacefully be convinced to join the Silver Jedi Order as the campaign enters the final week.

Should Ringo Vinda join the Silver Jedi Order or not?

Objective 2: The Starship Graveyard

Derelict ships dating from the Four Hundred Year-Darkness and even dating as far back as the Clone Wars can be found in high orbit over Ringo Vinda's polar region, with as-of-yet unclaimed treasures from those eras, the most important being Tiplar's lightsaber and holocron. Rumors are there that these items are lurking in wait in the wreckage of some ship dating all the way back to the [First] Confederacy of Independent Systems.

Metalorn:

Objective 3: Bread and circuses

The local authorities of Metalorn, to entertain the working classes of the planet, have organized non-lethal gladiatorial games with numerous fights included in the program, including a wide variety of formats: tag teams, sentient-vs-beast, sentient-vs-machine, to include the main ones. Meanwhile, a crime ring wishes to take the control of the tournament by any means necessary, and will seemingly only understand violence. Enter the gladiatorial games or investigate and confront the crime ring that wishes to hijack the gladiatorial games.

Objective 4: Piracy Problem

Pirates prey on shipping in and out of Metalorn, undermining its precious industrial output; the Silver Jedi was called in by the local authorities to deal with the piracy problems plaguing the space surrounding the planet.

In the days following the end of the Serenno campaign, where Jessica played a pivotal role in forcing the Resurgent Empire to redirect significant naval forces, as well as getting the support of the local populace, on Ord Radama, the Yes camp began to pledge assistance in the SJ peacekeeping operations; the Serenno campaign was just that for the Silver Jedi administration. But that pledge proved to be another target for attack: they realize that the main mascot of the Yes camp, Jessica, was as much a source of social capital as it was a campaigning liability. The No camp seemed, once again, to focus more on Jessica than on the issues, and to turn the referendum campaign into something that relates more to the population's approval of Jessica than an actual referendum on the topic of Ringo Vinda's SJ membership. Regardless of how well-known she is among the planet's population for her roles among the Silver Jedi Order, especially its military and its engineering processes, she feels that she has no choice but to hit the campaign trail once again, until referendum day comes and then life will go on as before the referendum was called, or so she hoped. Julie remained over Ord Radama to get the job done over that theater of the Serenno campaign, while the campaign was in its late stages. She is also fully aware that the outcome of the entire campaign, and not just the Ord Radama theater, in the minds of many among the population she is associated as far as the Serenno campaign is concerned, will carry implications well into the referendum. Even though she knows better than to trust pollsters, most of the latest polls are placing the Yes and No camps in a statistical dead heat. Back at the campaign headquarters in Quendelton, Jessica had a meeting with the Yes camp management team:

"I understand that more needs to be done until the end. The campaign is far from over, where are the battleground areas still up for grabs?"

"Probably have to say the Canyon area in the southern hemisphere"

The freighter's distress call rang out throughout the system before it was cut off by the pirates precise blasts from an ion cannon to it's communications array. The Barloz-class transport hadn't stood a chance. While a lot of these vessels had been refitted or been redesigned they still weren't very powerful. A few well placed blasts had eliminated it's shields and quickly taken out various crucial systems. It was lucky to get out even part of it's distress call. Bringing her MXC-1150 into docking position she quickly pressed her airlock to her prey's. Flooding the airlock with air they crew aboard her vessel rapidly moved in. Blasting open the other's ships sealed docking door with a shaped charge two flash grenades got thrown in. Breaching quickly the crew quickly secured the ship capturing the four crew inside. Satisfied with how the operation went the Selonian made her way inside and eye on the captives while her crew began to transfer the cargo containers.

Darren sat upon his captain's chair on-board The Beetle, contemplating his life choices as he was given a Starship with such a name. Suddenly, he snapped back into reality at the sound of one of his crew members.

"Sir, we've managed to reach the Metalorn Authorities. Are you ready?" the man said.

"Wh-what? Oh, right. Yeah, start up the comm."

The crew member nodded, turning back and flipping a switch. Shortly after he did so, a Twi'lek hologram appeared from a holo-projector a few feet in forward of Darren's chair.

"Greetings, Sergeant Torran. We appreciate you turning up on such short notice."

"Not a problem. We're here to help. So, what do we know about these so-called 'pirates'? It is a self proclaimed title, I assume?"

The Twi'lek chuckled, "Straight to the point, I see. I already like you. It's just a term we use to describe pests that pose a threat to our economy. They've been boarding trade ships along the Ringo Vanda trade route. As far as we know, they only have a single light-freighter. They've been doing a good job at hiding their fleet."

"So we're glorified exterminators that we hired to terminate a single ant? Well... Take what you're given, I suppose. Anything else we need to know before we jump into this head-first?"

"We know nothing else as of yet. However, feel free to call for back up should you need it."

Darren smiled, "Trust me, we won't need it. Good day, Marshal."

With that, the communication ended. As the hologram retreated back into it's projector, the Zabrak looked forward.

"Alright lads, who's ready to take on some pirates?" the majority of the crew cheered, with the exception of a few sour-faced individuals. "Alright. Take her to hyperspace."

The Beetle jumped to hyperspace and emerged quite swiftly. Once emerged, they would have the enemy fleet in their sights - though the enemy had not yet seen them. Not yet.

The problem that the Ringo Vinda government has been ignoring, has failed to realize, was that the Silver Jedi Order proper officially had no administrative power over member planets, with the planetary administrations mostly left to their own devices. The trade administration of the Order was under the purview of the Tion Cooperative Organization, which, while nearby every Silver Jedi world had a representative, was distinct from the Order itself. Exactly what the issues at hand really meant to Jessica and, with it, the population, in the context of the referendum campaign, beyond defense issues, depended on how the TCO actually operated. Then again, the SJ were much better known among the general public than the TCO was, regardless of any involvement from Jessica, or even Charzon before that. Even then, because she was the commanding officer of the Northwest Command, the major command overseeing the defense of the SJ's northwestern border, she was going to be a key figure in actually delivering on defense issues. One of the staffers handed her an informative brochure on the TCO, prior to Jessica getting to the appearance, wearing the Silver Jedi robes:

"Just make sure to read upon this before you actually go out there and make your appearance" the staffer told Jessica.

"Free trade among the Silver Jedi worlds, a common external tariff for goods outside the SJ, and on topics other than external trade and defense the planetary government would be left to its own civic devices. I would expect the No camp to focus on the loss of the freedoms of negotiating our own trade accords - that is, if they actually stop focusing on me"

Objective: Begin to restore the natural habitat of The Wasteland

In a small habitat on the outskirts of The Wasteland a group of scientists, terraformers and and Silver Jedi worked diligently to begin to manipulate the polluted scrap heap established by the Techno Union around 19 BBY. Amazingly it had survived since then, entropy at its finest.

Cath Lorr, Jedi Knight and newly minted Silver, was on site to employ her diplomatic skills so that the locals would stay supportive of the endeavor. Commander Calderon had been deployed to the site because the group of peacekeepers and scientists needed protection from swarms of daggerflies, a rather large type of insect covered in protective chitin which consumed mice, rats and other pests from the junkyards.

Today was an important day as they would dismantle the habitat, don rebreathers and carry out Operation: Flyswatter. A pest control vessel had recently sprayed some kind of “safe” chemical to kill most of the daggerflies - though “safe” was a fluid word when it came to any pesticides in Cath’s opinion - but there would be some holdouts that survived.

“Are you ready, Commander?” asked Cath. It would be the Silver soldier and Jedi’s job to perform cleanup by killing the larger and more dangerous garbage flies so the terraforming could begin to restore the planet’s original healthy habitat.

Colonel Valkren Calderon had his back turned away from Cath, a cigarette burning between his lips as he sorted out his kit. He looked over his shoulder at her question on his readiness. At this, he took a drag from his cigarette, exhaling without removing the stick from his lips as he stood and heaved the hefty kit over his head and onto his back. The young officer was already taller than the Jedi Knight, and the Katarn armor that he sported made him seem bulkier as well.

The colonel lifted his gloved hand up, taking a last drag before he tossed the cigarette to the ground, stomping it beneath his combat boots. He'd remove his helmet from his belt after this, sliding it over his head. On the side of this helmet, painted in blood red was 'Radama Reaper,' with a dark red skull on the front plate around his visor to complement it. These just being some of the decorations his men had snuck onto his equipment after their recent deployment to Ord Radama. The visor lit up as the soldier's HUD kicked into action, outlining the Jedi in front of him with a thin blue line to symbolize a 'friendly' target.

He brandished a KG-2 Grendel assault ripper across his chest plate and utility pouches, with a P12-Mag resting in the drop holster on his right leg. The young officer's voice came out different than what most would hear, due to the vocoded nature of his helmets' systems.

"Ready, Ma'am."

Two men in the same armor stepped up behind the Colonel, their armor decorated almost the same. Sporting tally marks for confirmed kills on their shoulder plates, and 'Radama Raiders' instead of Valkren's 'reaper' rested in red on the side of their helmets.

Valkren looked to the corner of his HUD as his two fellow ranger's vitals popped up; Lieutenant Harris and Specialist Lowder, two rangers that he had the pleasure of serving with for quite some time. Harris brandished the same style of Assault ripper, but with a sort of ACOG scope attachment along the top railing for more accurate shots. The specialist, however, held a smaller version of their assault weapons. Lowder went for a lighter approach since attached to his kit was a flamethrower, just incase things got hairy.
