Objective: The Dark Side Mines

Link to the Objectives (For the Lazy)

Several hundred years had seen the desert world known as Torolis reduced to a state devoid of civilization. Once a thriving colony of the Bothan people, things took a dramatic turn for the worst when the Gulag Plague struck the Galaxy. Planetary quarantines were established, thereby cutting off the world from the rest of Bothan Space. Without the support of its fellows, Torolis simply did not have the resources to keep its denizens alive; thereby leading to the utter decimation of all civilized thinking. Cannibalism soon became commonplace and the once-proud citizens of the planet were reduced to a mentally deficient state...Now, centuries later, the Bothan people have expressed a desire to reclaim its former colony and bring to it into the growing population of the Confederacy. To this end, an operation was organized with the goal of clearing out the most pressing threats of the world so that a permanent foothold might be established.

The hour was just after noon when the silence of space was disturbed. Surging forth from the depths of Hyperspace was a section of vessels, Confederate in origin. Consisting of a Wodrata-class Pod Carrier, an Argente-class Assault Cruiser, and a Poggle-class Escort Carrier acting as the lead vessel, the trio entered the orbit of the planet and straightway began preparations for landing. To this end, the beskar-clad warrior, known as Isley Verd, made his way to the Bridge of the Poggle (which he had affectionately dubbed the CSS Kothlis) and came to a halt before the central console. Leaning forward, he then began to speak over the P.A. system in order to notify the personnel aboard that the time to disembark had arrive. At once, his voice reverberated about the corridors and quarters of the vessel; in addition to broadcasting to the other two ships of the section. "Attention, all hands! This is Judge Magister Verd." he began, "Today, our goal is the reclamation of a world that has been victimized by the Gulag Plague. On the surface, there are hells that await us: from Scavs to the local fauna. However, we must be successful in our operation today. This is the task that we have been given to fulfill and we shall emerge victorious. You know the objectives; all teams headed to the ground, you are cleared for takeoff."

With that said, the Mandalorian turned on his heel and returned the bridge to the helmsman's command. Long, confident strides then bore the Judge Magister to the lift which immediately descended to the hangar. Upon exiting, he straightway made for one of the dropships that had been set aside for his particular Objective: Investigating the deserted mines upon the surface of the world. According to the intel gathered beforehand, there was quite the Dark Side presence brewing there...and with reports of a Terentatek sighting on Nar Chunna, this was a fact warranting investigation. As such, Isley promptly entered the dropship and seated himself at the absolute rear. There, he awaited the arrival of those who would join him at this objective.

Aboard the CSS Kothlis
Objective: The Jedi Praxeum

It took the deep, unmistakable voice of the Judge Magister ringing throughout the loudspeeker to rouse the aging Bothan from his meditation. Seated in the midst of his personal quarters, Verask Fey'lya blinked several times and moistened his lips. To say the least, he was ever-so-slightly disoriented, but that came with the territory of being older than most. With an audible grunt, coupled with the popping of aching joints, Verask pulled himself to his feet and raised his arms above his head in a stretch. Then, with shaky steps at first, he strode forth from within his quarters and calmly made his way down to the hangar. According to the information that he had been provided with beforehand, upon the surface was an ancient, Jedi Praxeum. Ruined by time, it was the source of an untold sum of information...and this more than warranted an investigation. To this end, Verask decided to take this enormous opportunity to wade through dust and stone; for who could pass up the opportunity to potentially learn more about the Force?

Upon entering the hangar, Verask took his place before one of the dropships and patiently awaited the arrival of his fellows. He did not know how many would arrive to assist in this objective, but he was hopeful that enough hands would arrive to make this an interesting venture; to say the absolute least.

Adela Verd had been practically glued to her fathers side the entire time, and was standing beside him now, the sword he'd given her strapped across her back. Her Force abilities were still unrefined, and she didn't have any proper armor, but Adela would have been damned if she'd stayed behind on another Dominion. It was getting old, being stuck at the castle or somewhere safe. Safe was boring - beyond boring, actually. Adela was a Mandalorian and a Force User. Safe was not a word in her common vocabulary.

Wodrata-class Pod Carrier, Torolis Orbit
Objective: Liberating the Capital City

The exodus of Liberty Concord was an event that left a bad taste in the clone's mouth. His brothers and sisters in arms, many of them, literally flipped the bird to their obligations and deserted their posts; in favor of the Omega Protectorate of all places. How this could come about, after Calico himself was one of the five leaders of the karking nation, was beyond Maverick...but there was no point dwelling on the past. Sure, the exodus had all but caused the conclusion of the Dread Guard program; but in its wake was something that suited the clone like a glove: The Marine Corps. Here, there was more than a uniform assortment of men and women. Here, there was a diverse congregation of men and women, of all races and skills, bonded together as the most elite group the Confederate military has ever known. To be apart of this unit was nothing short of an honor for CC-308; and he was determined more than ever to bring honor and glory to their name!

As such, when the call rang out, he was one of the first to respond. Swift footsteps bore the clone throughout the halls of the pod carrier as he all but sprinted to the "Drop Wing". Instead of having a hangar, like most vessels, the Wodrata had instead devised an entire section of the vessel specifically for drop pods. Here, the Marine Corps would strap in and be ejected down to the capital city below...where a literal hell awaited them. Taking a moment to stop before the weapons locker, Maverick loaded up his Phase V armor with a collection of ammunition, an assault slugthrower, and several grenades. Then, he took his place before the drop pod and began the waiting game; as it'd take more than just him inside to gain clearance to launch.

Upon settling into the memory-foam seat of the dropship, the Mandalorian was greeted by the sight of his "shadow": [member="Adela Verd"]. Ever since he had passed down his beskad, an heirloom of Clan Verd, to her hands; she had been adamant on forgoing the walls of Castle Ne'tra in place of an active presence on the field of battle. Although this came as a source of immense pride for Isley, it also worried his wife half to death. However, the "princess of Clan Verd" was in exceptional hands; for Isley would rather die than let harm come to his beloved child. Smiling from behind his helmet as he looked upon her, he reached out and gave her an touch upon the forearm. "I surmise I can give you a few lessons in the field." he began, addressing her lack of education in the Force, "And maybe, just maybe, I'll get some armor sized just for you. It won't be beskar, as it is rank-restricted these days...but it'll be yours. How's that sound Ad'ika?"

With the successful launch of the subsidiary known as Czerka Mining and Industrial, the Echani whom headed the rapidly-expanding corporation found himself with a rare sum of free time. His employees were handling the influx of orders with vigor, profits were through the roof, and each day his company's contacts grew and grew. This was something that brought nothing but pride to Tyri Lsu's heart, as he had all but worked himself to the bone to get Czerka Corporation back on its feet. Now, he was free to reap the benefits of his efforts...through assisting a nation in a rather noble cause. Now, the slick-haired, sharply-dressed Echani was not exactly the most benevolent of individuals; but he did have a soft spot for the government that gave Czerka Corporation its first sponsorship...That...and he would be remiss to potentially forgo the opportunity to examine technology utilized centuries prior. This could prove useful for expanding the operations of his beloved Corporation; which in turn spelled additional benefits for the Confederacy as a whole.

As such, making his way to the hangar, Tyri came to a halt before one of the many dropships strewn about. It was not too often that he would trade the luxury of a Naboo-crafted vessel for a military bucket, but today was a rare exception. Drawing a breath into his lungs, the Echani then lowered his head and admitted himself within the dropship before grasping one of the hand-holds. There, he awaited whomever else was joining him down.

Adela grinned slightly crazily at her buir. She tried to think of a snide comment in reference to the rank-restricted beskar'gaam, but couldn't, so just replied with the base honesty. Being a kid, she could actually pull it off. "Armor is good. Mostly because getting shot in the back is a really embarrassing way to die." She said cheerfully, grin widening as she pulled the mock-sincere look that came so naturally to teenagers. Okay, so she was about five years early...close enough.

Alli was suited up in her armor, and had all her gear made by some rather inventive employees. She noted the other man on the drop ship. " Well hello there, not a face I thought I would see getting his hands dirty. " She said with a smile as she looked over from her own spot on the drop ship. It wasn't everyday you got Alli Wren to go into the fray on a hostile planet. But something had gotten her out of her luxury yacht today, that was the chance to study the defense grid of an planet that had pre gulag tech. She was still amazed by some of the stuff unearthed on some planets.

Enter [member="Alli Wren"], the esteemed CEO of Baktoid Industries. To say that the young Echani respected the ever-loving kark out of the crimson haired woman was an understatement. She was the predecessor that all but made Czerka Corporation's a possibility through restoring Baktoid to its former glory. Through seeing it be done, Tyri did it himself; but of course, he wouldn't prattle this all off in the middle of a dropship! Instead, he inclined his head in a respectful greeting before giving the businesswoman a warm smile. "For an opportunity like this? I'll gladly wade through dust, sand, and other hells. It's not everyday one gets to look at a defense grid designed by the Pre-Gulag Bothans." he said. After stepping deeper into the dropship to make additional room for the businesswoman, he grasped hold of a handrail and gave the pilot a nod, who then began to run through the pre-flight checklist. It was only a matter of time before the dropship lifted off and the mission began.

Why was he here, again? Atretes wasn't too sure. Some urgent matter to do with the Confederacy wanting some get-together time to take over a planet. Then the instruction came over the intercom. That was it. Liberating a planet from the binds of years he knew nothing about, in order to secure it as yet another keepsake for the necklace of planets already under faction control. It was quite the imperialistic view he had of it, but nobody could prove him wrong about it, either.

Mostly because his internal dialogue wasn't privy to the ears of those around him.

Dressed in the archaic Imperial Gunner uniform (save the helmet, which he never bothered to wear) he found aboard his master Salem's ship, and with his hair braided back to keep it out of his eyes, he made his way through to the dropship headed for the long deep mines of darkness. This reminded him of some story involving really short people he'd read on the holonet once. It was strange, how little fictions you read sometimes line up with reality when you happen to be in certain lines of work.

"Hello." he said, with a nod, to the two already aboard the dropship. He had never met either of them before, but the adult looked rather important, so Rhoujen suspected he was known before the knower was known. He found his way to a seat and strapped himself in.

The Mandalorian could not help but chuckle as his youngest filled the space with her wit. It was immensely amusing to see that she had inherited the same, silver tongue that got Isley in quite a large sum of poodoo on more than one occasion. "That's right Ad'ika. But remember, you're also your mother's child. With the Force, you can take a slug aimed at the back and turn it into a headshot." he said, reaching up and removing his helmet. At once, his eyes, ever-stained orange by the Dark Side, gazed fondly upon his child. He then set his helm upon his thigh and then decided to begin her lessons. After all, there was no time like the present whilst they awaited the arrival of the others. Reaching out with the Force, Isley spoke directly into her mind through an elementary feat of telepathy. Alright, I surmise we can get started...this is called Telepathy. It's one of the most basic powers that a force sensitive can learn. he began. Can you feel that uncanny presence in your head? That's the Force...try reaching out and harnessing it...and then, simply think of the words you'd like to say. Give it a shot!

Then came the entrance of [member="Atretes Rhoujen"], an individual that Isley knew by name only through being a Master within the Templar Order. Having never met the young man in person, the Mandalorian simply returned the respectful gesture with the added benefit of an introduction. "Greetings. My name is Isley Verd, Judge Magister. You must be Atretes, yes? I heard about your bravery on Nar Chunna...Well done helping with that Terentatek."

Phoebe realized that she didn't get out much anymore. She didn't mean to parties or anything like that. What the woman meant was on missions. The excuse had always been that she was too busy with work but that wasn't really the case either way she was here now with her husband and her daughter. She knew he was able to take care of himself so that wasn't what the woman was worried about more so than her little girl getting hurt. That was the last thing she wished for ever.

"It looks like this is going to be a family trip," she she grinned making her way into one of the dropships. This wasn't going to be any family picnic however she was afraid. This was war.

Adela's gaze switched instantly to her mother as her grin widened even more - if that was possible. Buir! She called out happily, trying out the new telepathy thingy that her father was teaching her about - taking that annoying little ghost in her head and pointing it towards her mother, then thinking the word buir - somehow it seemed appropriate to use a Mando'a word. It was a pretty klutzy attempt, but it worked.

It seemed that [member="Tyri Lsu"] and her were of the same mind. "Why do you think I am here, it is amazing it is intact. I can't wait. perhaps we could help each other on this project, I was just thinking that I wanted to work with Czerka, I think it would be a great way to forge some great products, using each others specialties. What do you say?" She said before the roar of the engine started and they headed towards the planet, This was going to be interesting she thought, it wasn't everyday such an opportunity was presented. It was going to be a great day she decided.

Like a child on their Name Day, Adela's excitement and delight was exceptionally evident. Her smile was as wide as it could possibly be, and her newfound telepathic ability filled Isley's "ears" with her voice. She called out for her parents and Isley couldn't help but drape an arm over her shoulder. When [member="Phoebe Verd"] settled into her seat, the Mandalorian then gave her a rare display of affection. After the fiasco of the Council meeting, he was very firm about public displays of affection...but for right now, he could bend his rules. Leaning forward, his lips graced her cheek sweetly before he sat back in his seat, beaming with pride. "That was an excellent job Adela! You'll get the hang of Telepathy in no time." he said, grinning from ear to ear.

Katrina normally wasn't one for fighting but she could make an exception. This planet from what she understood was in dire need of assistance as everything in it was eating each other and destroying everything. It needed to be put to an end before it was too late. Her skills with a Lightsaber were rusty and she a bad fighter but decided to lend a hand anyway. She couldn't just sit back and watch. Not when the empath could be of some help.

"Hello," Kat spoke quietly to the fellow Jedi waiting for her as she entered the dropship. The master wasn't much of a talker but she would try. It would do her no good to close herself off to the galaxy. "So, I'm guessing you'll be joining me down there? I'm Katrina. I hear it's a real mess."

Now there was one hell of a thought...a collaborative venture with Baktoid Industries? Tyri would have been the definition of a moron if he declined this offer. So, with his smile only widening with each passing second, the silver-haired businessman gave a nod; affirming that he was on board, before adding: "A collaborative project would be an exceptional honor, Miss Wren. I'd love to work with Baktoid!" He paused as the dropship lurched ever so slightly as the engines roared. The doors had yet to close and liftoff had yet to be achieved, but it was only a matter of moments before this happened. "I'm actually working on a new droid brain that can compete with the one dominating the market at the moment; one that utilizes the Gabonna crystals we have recently began to mass produce. Perhaps we can work together on that particular project whilst we explore options to serve the Techno Union with our discoveries today?"

Precisely as he'd wagered. He didn't study the hierarchy of the Confederacy, but Judge Magister sounded pretty high up. He was also unsurprised that he'd been heard of, though he was surprised by what means his name had spread. The Tarentatek...

"Aye, at your service," he said quietly, then thought back on the monstrosity that may have nearly rent him to shreds were it not for Varesk and his distraction, "I would hardly say I was useful in that encounter, but... thank you, nevertheless." he said with a wry grin. Then the female entered, and the ecstatic facial expression of the child implied that the woman was the girl's mother. Skin tone and facial structure suggested that Isley was the girl's father. A family.

"Wonderful, I'm the odd one out, eh." he thought to himself. His expression may have conveyed the internal sense of being the outsider of the group, though he wouldn't have been able to perceive that, much less hide it. He wasn't versed in such disciplines yet. It wouldn't have been disdainful, merely... a slight introversion of the eyes, perhaps.

It was not long before the patience exhibited by the Bothan was rewarded in the form of company! After only a meager handful of moments, a gentle voice graced his ears, causing him to turn. There before him was a young woman who absolutely brimmed with the Force...at least compared to his own minuscule signature. To her was rendered a respectful inclination of his head, coupled with a warm smile, as Verask introduced himself. "Well met Katrina," he began, righting himself gingerly, "my name is Verask. It is an honor to make your acquaintance. Indeed, it is quite the mess down below, but our mission is one that will allow us to make the best of it. After all, we have the rare opportunity to investigate the past!" The Bothan's enthusiasm about digging about the Jedi Praxeum was quite evident and he, at once, stepped out of the way and motioned for Katrina to take a seat within the dropship; much akin to a true gentlemen.

When were these government fools going to learn that their barging in like this wasn't going to get them anywhere, merely showing up with a pocket full of good will and a bay full of bombs wasn't going to sway anyone. Hell, if Ethan didn't see the benefit the CIS could hold for Nova-Tech he would have fought the bastards himself. But no, the CIS was a business opportunity waiting to happen and this was the perfect chance to get in the door. The CIS probably didn't know it, but Nova-Tech had been maintaining the defense grid of late to try and protect the assets and colonist on planet. Unfortunately the tech was so old that the new tech that they had to work with usually shorted out the old defense towers and you could only get a bunch of lab monkeys to try and fit squares into round holes for so long.

Riding up to the defense grid in a land speeder, Ethan prepared himself for whoever he may meet.
