DESCRIPTION
As the Alliance Ascendant began her maiden voyage, anchoring herself in the heavens above the Queen of the Core, the Republic Engineering Corporation was presented with yet another opportunity. One that they couldn’t afford to miss. The Senate requested an additional Star Defender, but one that would further flesh out the Startide’s versatile mission profile and assist the Alliance Defence Force in their operations across the Galaxy. The Shipwright considered this request to be a challenge, as they refused to fall into the trappings that often populated warships of that size and calibre. Their entire focus was on fleshing out the armament and defensive capabilities of their vessels, whilst sacrificing its speed and maneuverability to create a semi-fixed gun platform - that could dodge a spinning asteroid if it tried.

So, the design team prided themselves on finding the balance, and went against the grain with the first iteration of the Startide. But, despite all of their successes, they kept asking themselves - where do we go from here?

Their answer came when a Colony II-Class Supercarrier berthed itself in one of the Shipwrights’ docks. They were looking to undergo several rotations worth of maintenance and repair, after having spent several cycles combating piracy along the various trade spines within the Alliance’s sphere of influence. The vessel was, at first, considered to be an oddity. Who in their right mind would make a ship to carry other ships? Especially in this Era, when almost every warship worth it’s weight was outfitted with a hyperdrive. However, as the design team spent more time staring at the drawing board, the more they kept coming back to the Corellian Battlecruiser. Of all the Star Defenders and Super Star Destroyers that were produced throughout the relatively recent history of the galaxy - none of them matched this Corellian design for ingenuity.

Utilizing the same space frame of the Alliance Ascendant, and made from whatever parts weren’t used during its construction, the second Startide-Class Star Defender began to take shape. Much of the internal and external systems would be removed in favour of fleshing out the criteria and capabilities that the warship needed to create an upscaled variant of the Colony II-Class Supercarrier. However, the exterior structure and armour plating needed minor alterations to account for the host of new systems being woven into the warship’s skeletal frame. For example, there needed to be a shielded point of egress that the massive carrier could deploy it’s capital ship escorts from. Thankfully, due to the Shipwright’s preference towards advanced automation, entire decks and engineering bays were devoted to this new purpose - where originally the massive crew complement would be housed.

The layout of this new, and wholly expansive hangar would offer an incredible deployment opportunity for vessels that were ferried within the Star Defender. Four of the Eight Corvettes would be situated on either the Port or Starboard sides of the vessel, and would be magnetically accelerated to combat speed before leaving the protective shell of the Startide. To counteract the use of highly-radioactive ion engines within a pressurized environment, the Star Defender was outfitted with a heavily-reinforced layer of internal radiation shielding, and would be routinely inspected and cleaned by synthetic personnel. The two Frigates that were included in the Warship’s complement would also be situated in a similar fashion, but instead of being shot out of the magnetic accelerators, those vessels would be ‘dropped’ into the void. In many ways, this new Startide was the physical personification of the Marg Sabl maneuver, as these Capital Ships would be protected by the Star Defender’s defensive systems whilst they deployed onto the battlefield.

From there, what was considered to be the standard armament that was seen on the first Startide was significantly reduced in order to compensate for the host of systems that was now situated in the massive warship’s belly. However, with the removal of several weapon systems and the addition of a Capital Ship carrying capacity, there was enough room to include a Superheavy Mass-driver Cannon. This weapon was, for all intents and purposes, a massively upscaled ship-killing railgun, capable of magnetically accelerating it’s payload beyond conventional hypervelocity speeds. Essentially making this variant of the Startide, a Superluminal Sniper - should the proper calculations, sensor locks and spatial telemetry be taken into effect.

The Superheavy Mass-driver Cannon operated as an electrothermal platform, which would utilize a chemical propellant that would be vaporized by an electrical energy field, producing a sudden burst of pressurized plasmatic force. This system would be further enhanced by an assembly of magnetic stabilization solenoids, as well as multiple rails - that would allow for the weapon to not only accelerate slugs to superluminal velocities, but in rapid succession as well due to the variable firing modes. However, there was a downside to the entire assembly, as the burst-fire mode utilized all of the available methods of electromagnetic delivery - forcing the entire weapon to undergo a mandated cooldown cycle to avoid rapid rail warping, and slow the progress of rail erosion.

With the construction of their newest variant of the Startide nearing completion, the Shipwright began devising names that would suit their newest creation. There were many options and possible appellations that were given, but the Shipwright eventually decided on the Ouroboros for its historical significance, and because it was intended to be a symbol of wholeness and the infinite cycle of life. Thusly christened, the Ouroboros was finished and soon embarked on her maiden voyage - sparking hope amongst those who knew what this warship stood for, instilling terror in those who sought the democratization of fear.

The word "Terrified" should be the equivalent of every person that runs into this Star Defender. Not only am I impressed, I am left speechless by the design and thought process dedicated to creating such a specimen of engineering. However I have to point out a design flaw in its perfection.

Corvettes: Eight Corvettes (Maximum Dimensions [150m x 30m] in Length, Exchanged for 18 Squadrons of Starfighters; 3 Squadrons per Corvette.)
3 x 8 = 24. Please repair and reconfigure your numbers to accommodate. Sorry to bring that up but your math will have to be redone for your hanger allocations. So far though, I see no problem with the actual sizing you did for hanger accommodations. Just need to some more number crunching.

Let me know when you have fixed up the Hanger Allocation issue and hopefully it will be passed onto the secondary approval process.
