STRENGTHS
  • Antimatter-catalysed fusion heart: A Reavers’ congenital heart is replaced with an antimatter-catalysed plasma fusion cybernetic powerplant which produces several Terrawatts of power and sufficient to supply the needs of a colonial metropolis alone. This heart fulfils the function of several natural organs and is capable of filtering and destroying harmful toxins, pathogens and poisons from what blood remains inside the Reavers’ body. Their heart produces a pulse throughout the artificial circulatory system, which helps with superficially concealing a Reaver user’s nature.
  • Endurance unending: With completely bio-fabricated artificial organs Reavers possess utterly incredible endurance, they don’t have muscles to fatigue or a traditional skeleton to break. They can breathe and survive submerged in a variety of liquids and gases without significant consequences. Most astonishingly, a Reaver can survive albeit unconsciously in a vacuum for some time. They experience pain but are not stunted or retarded by its’ presence. Thus, they can ignore extensive damage to a degree after the first jar of pain or discomfort. A Reaver can feasibly survive each limb being dismembered and being bisected at the abdomen provided the injuries do not damage the heart or brain.
  • Electro-magnetic Generation: In a startling technological innovation, the Reaver Cybernetic Weapon system is capable of generating electromagnetic fields and can use these fields to distort and disable electronic systems varying from locks to deflector shields. More startlingly the system can draw in oxygen and applying principles arc projection generate plasma from its’ endoskeleton and control it using electromagnetic fields. Likewise, the cybernetic weapon system’s skeletal muscle layers of titanium coils protect it from melee weapons and attempting to engage a user of the Reaver cybernetic weapon system in hand-to-hand amounts to pointlessness.
  • Lightsabres: Materially the Reaver cybernetic weapon system possesses a strong resistance to thermal energy and can even overcome the slashes of lightsabres. To inflict damage to a Reaver reliably, a wielder of such a weapon would be best served to make powerful cutting strikes as opposed to quick scratches. A modestly-sized suit’s lifting power is anywhere between five to seven times its own mass. The reaction time of the user is no longer limited by the velocity of organic nerve conduction, now the user’s nervous system can send commands at the speed of light. In practical terms, this means that their reactions are second only perhaps to master force users.
  • Perfectly balanced as all things should be: Elegantly engineered and precisely modelled the Reaver system is a near perfectly balanced bipedal platform. It is to precisely engineered that an operator should be able to balance and support their body’s weight on a single finger digit for a sustained period of time should they possess the adequate and necessary training, talent and skill.

As an added benefit, the drones can reshape the reaver system to the user’s tastes, often reflecting their pre-reaver physique.
  • Plasma-resistant: The laminated construction of the Reaver Cybernetic Weapon System with the combined material qualities is sufficient to resist repeated impacts from plasma weapons, including tibana or ionite-based blasters. However, once the material exceeds it’s the thermal capacity and begins melting, it goes beyond what the system is capable of repairing and becomes structurally compromised.
  • Radiation resistant: Reavers are very resistant to the effect of ionising radiation thanks to their organs being shielded with dense materials. They can operate in a radiologically contaminated environment, including those affected by gamma radiation; however, it is worth noting that Reavers’ skin can still be burnt away by ionising radiation and their vision impaired.
  • Recombinant Telomeres: The organic tissue and DNA that is featured as part of the Reaver cybernetic weapon system has undergone significant modification, for example, their telomeres are recombinant meaning they “resurrect” themselves and thereby preserve the user’s DNA and resist the carcinogenic and deteriorating effects of ageing on their organic parts giving each Reaver user a lifespan that is estimated to range on an average 1,500 years for a human model.
  • Suspension: When Reavers are significantly damaged they can enter a state of ‘suspension’ where they come a sort of self-induced coma bringing their heart rate down to the point where the user is ostensibly indistinguishable from a state of death. This can help prevent exsanguination from chassis damage or bodily harm. The membrane oxygenator in the lungs continues to add and remove oxygen and carbon dioxide from the lungs while the user is unconscious ensuring their brain survives. It is thought that a Reaver in this state could potentially survive comatose for centuries if necessary though not without side-effect such as memory loss.
WEAKNESSES
  • Armour Panel Gaps: While the Reaver is equipped with sophisticated malleable laminated Armor, there are gaps in the spaces they cover leaving parts of “skeletal muscle” the layers of titanium-coil impregnated polymer vulnerable. These layers are more susceptible to damage and generally speaking will not be capable of withstanding the more exotic threats such as Lightsabres. In theory, a bladed weapon with an electro-plasma edge or monomolecular blade with appropriate force could also punch through these.
  • Anoxic Waters: Even though the Reaver system can survive being submerged into the likes of freshwater and saltwater bodies, its’ cybernetic lungs still require oxygen to be suspended in the solution. It cannot survive independently in liquids that have depleted or dissolved oxygen. So, it is a bad idea to try and go wading through lava or magma for a duration that extends what the user can hold their breath as these mediums contain depleted oxygen levels. Likewise, bodies of water at depth often have depleted levels of oxygen and thus you generally won’t see a Reaper user survive unassisted several kilometres underwater.
  • Blood colouration: The equivalent of venal and arterial injuries generally yield a strange high-energy capacity solution that is coloured a dark blue. Wounds to the Dermis produce a brightly coloured capillary red thanks to the superficial organic circulatory structures they feature. The Reaver’s “blue blood” is a smoking-gun giveaway that they’re not entirely natural.
  • Circulatory system: There are still vestigial remains of the user’s organic nature, their cybernetic heart pumps chemically-altered blood and a high-energy capacity dark blue fluid through its chambers into a circulatory system, one part of this system goes to and from the organic nervous system. The Reaver system possesses the equivalent of a carotid artery and associated veins to supply the brain. If the polymer “carotid artery” were by some misfortune destroyed or severed, it could lead to fatal consequences for the user. Additionally, the Reaver system can “bleed out” and leave its’ user weak or paralysed if the volume of their “blue blood” exsanguinates.
  • Cranial trauma: Due to the fact the cybernetic system connects to its’ hosts organic nervous system, it cannot function appropriately without a stable and undamaged jumpy system. States of unconsciousness render the user vulnerable as the weapon system cannot act anonymously. Sufficient trauma to the subject’s skull could lead to brain injuries, cerebral haemorrhaging etc. Penetrating “Headshots” could utterly disable or destroy the user.
  • Goodbye Midi-chlorians: Undergoing the process of sacrificing one’s fragile mortal form for the Reaver Cybernetic Weapon System is a surrendering of the majority of the constituent cells of an organic. It represents the forsaking of a connection to the cosmic and living force in exchange for material power supreme. This can also come with social consequences such as others viewing “Reavers” rightly or wrongly as unnatural freaks or killing machines.
  • Hinge joints: A limitation of its’ imitation of organic design the joints of Reaver are limited in their range of motion. An example of this is the inefficient implementation of hinge joints noticeably in the elbows and knees rather than ball or socket joints. This limits their range of motion to what you would expect for a Human, Near-Human or related Humanoid.
  • Ionic Weapons: The platform features organic and synthetic traits, they have some specific vulnerabilities to the effects of ion weapons. At the same time, their hardware and cybernetic organs are well-shielded their nervous system can still be “shorted out” temporarily by ion weapons and “stun blasts” allowing somebody to feasibly temporarily disable or render a Reaver unconscious by blasting them with a stunning setting or suitably powerful ion blaster.
  • Pain sensation: Though the Cybernetic Weapon System doesn’t feature motor control nerves, there are the machine-equivalent of sensory nerves throughout the artificial dermis covering the Reaver chassis. The dermis is deformable and features capacitance; changing colour and density when objects are applied to its’ surface. The user’s organic brain can interpret these sensations through the machine nervous system in a broad range of feelings from pleasure to pain. For example, their skin will be chilly and icy in cold temperatures, and extreme sensations of heat or cold can be perceived painfully. Unlike organics, however, the nervous system cannot be disabled by painful feelings alone. There are hardware limitations on the amount of pain the system will allow its’ user to experience to protect them from harmful stimuli.
  • Respiratory system: The Reaver Cybernetic Weapon System contains a pair of cybernetic fabricated lungs which provide oxygen to the user’s organic bloodstream. As such, the users are dependent on a supply of the oxygen supplied by their functioning lungs. If these cybernetic organs were to be damaged or disabled, there is a significant risk that the user could be rendered unconscious or even killed. Though they can survive in a vacuum Reavers because they rely on oxygen more often than not are made at least unconscious in space.
  • Sleep: Unlike many cybernetic prosthesis systems and platforms, the Reaver platform doesn’t make drastic modifications to the subject’s nervous system. For healthy brain growth and functioning the recipient of a Reaver Cybernetic system will still require some length of sleep. In an unconscious state, the subject is more vulnerable to attack and unaware of their surroundings, a weakness owed to their organic nature.
  • Spinal Column: Reaver systems come equipped with a cybernetic spinal column which features a synthetic analogue to motor control nerves and organic sensory nerve branches. It is through the spinal column that the brain sends commands through the neural interface. This is a physiological weakness if the individual metallic vertebrates were to be fractured or damaged, the user would be unable to exercise the full range of motion. If the “spinal cord” itself was severed, it could paralyse parts of the user’s body. Ergo, a reaver can still be physically paralysed by damage.
  • Sterile: Those who undergo the Reaver cybernetic weapon system conversion process are irreversibly changed in more than one way. Though they are “anatomically correct” and possess their primary and secondary sex characteristics they are not capable of producing reproductive cells or gametes as the organs individually responsible for fabricating them are either removed or replaced with a cybernetic cosmetic prosthesis.
  • Sustenance: Because the cybernetic platform relies upon the subject’s nervous system to function the brain must receive a steady supply of nutrients and energy to function correctly. Being deprived of food, water, and nutrients can have a detrimental effect on the subject’s performance as they become frail and weak. This could advance to the point where the recipient dies, and thus they must have a steady supply of food and water.

DESCRIPTION
Designed jointly by the Core Imperial Confederation and Interstellar Manufacturing Corporation the “Reaver Cybernetic Weapons System” was officially be classified as the “Cybernetic Prosthetic System” to conceal its’ true nature and intended purpose from saboteurs or spies. Being equipped with REAVER requires the subject to undergo harsh chemical and surgical alteration. It is far more complicated than a mere prosthetic system. It is potentially the most advanced cybernetic weapons system ever developed and fielded. The product’s aim was to combine machine resilience and digital technologies controlled by a neurally-interfaced organic nervous system. The design requirements didn’t start or end there though, an additional element was for the platform to wirelessly manipulate digital technologies and generate, sustain and operate artificial electromagnetic fields.

Outwardly The Reaver cybernetic weapon system is a sophisticated and undeniably beautiful piece of precision over-engineering. It is a type of full-body prosthesis that replaces the user’s entire body and nearly all of their organic bodily systems. It is loosely speaking a humanoid endoskeleton that has armour panels protecting artificial skeletal muscle manufactured from Titanium coils, fibre bundles and polymer sheets that cover the underlying skeleton. It precisely mimics human or near-human physiology and physique that is still malleable. The internal cybernetic organs housed safely inside the durable armoured chassis. Unlike many cybernetic systems, the Reaver is a hybrid hydraulic-electrical system and uses a mysterious dark-blue high energy capacity fluid to power and sustain the cybernetic organs. In contrast, the organic nervous system receives oxygen through traditional blood. The use of an artificial circulatory system in the chassis’ design confers significant advantages but also disadvantages.

The least modified organ of the Reaver cybernetic weapon system is the brain which is transplanted directly from a host and grafted into the Reaver body but equipped with a Neural interface device that translates the wearer’s thoughts into the nervous machine system and sends them throughout the platform at the speed of light allowing for amazingly accurate and sharp reactions to stimuli that would appear on observation to be a sort of pre-cognition.

Because the design relies on an organic nervous system, they must consume liquids and foods to sustain their brain activity, health and development. An artificial high-efficiency digestive system was designed for maximum uptake of nutrients and neutralisation of hazardous material, the acid produced by a Reaver’s fake stomach is highly corrosive and sufficient to break-down even dense metals such as Durasteel. Not that it should be taken as an endorsement to eat the material, however, it does allow the user to digest diets high in metals which baseline humans and near-humans cannot due to their bodies inabilities to absorb and process very dense liquids. Unlike the standard humanoid digestive system, the Reaver produces little waste and efficiently delivers nutrients into the digestive system quickly and intravenously. As such Reavers do not excrete waste products nearly as often as organics. All of the digestive system organs have been replaced with highly advanced cybernetic prosthetics which are not only smaller but more powerful and efficient than their organic analogues.

An organic nervous system requires oxygen and the uptake of oxygen typically relies on the presence of organs dedicated to processing gasses. REAVER features fabricated highly advanced and efficient organs for this very purpose, with two artificial lungs located were the organic ones previously were and roughly the same shape. The REAVER organs are significantly more advanced and adept though, capable of producing far more oxygen than natural lungs could ever hope to absorb from an atmosphere and allow optimal functioning in even thin atmospheres. Additionally, the REAVER cybernetic lungs are capable of isolating and neutralising pathogens and chemicals from the breathed atmosphere meaning its user doesn’t have to rely upon respirators or additional equipment to function safely in a contaminated environment. A helpful feature of the artificial lungs is that they are equipped with a membrane oxygenator which acts to process and breathe oxygen-rich liquids such as seawater. Though it has limitations and the system struggles to process anoxic waters which are bodies of water that are depleted of dissolved oxygen and is typically found at depth. The cybernetic lungs are also responsible for generating airflow through the Reaver’s mouth and allows them to verbally communicate much like any other humanoid seamlessly.

All of these fabricated cybernetic organs require a power source and a pump to push through the “blue blood” ubiquitous with Reavers. This is found in the form of an extremely powerful Anti-matter catalysed fusion reactor located within the thoracic in the location corresponding to the “heart” This Anti-matter reactor produces Terawatts of power and is sufficient to control the platform throughout the user’s natural life, their heart is adequate to supply the grid of a large colonial city. The heart contains several chambers with one-half of the heart being dedicated to organic blood and the other half to the machine blood that powers the cybernetic organs, limbs and hydraulic systems. The Reaver’s core is mighty and cycles a measly 15 repetitions per minute at rest using regulators to maintain optimal pressure throughout the circulatory system to maintain an adequate supply.

One of the most significant hold-overs from their organic origin is a minimal circulatory system to transport vital liquids organic and synthetic throughout the Reaver’s physiology. Most of the natural veins and arteries are absent and deleted as they are unnecessary or present an unacceptable combat trauma risk. In total, a Reaver has approximately five veins and four arteries that pump organic blood augmented with an additional two veins and two arteries that pass the synthetic “blue blood”. The artificial dermis of a reaver contains capillaries. Reaver bodies contain less than 1.1 litres of organic blood.

In contrast, significantly more of their “blood” is the synthetic dark blue liquid that passes throughout the limbs, abdomen and thorax. There is a passage of organic blood and notably includes a circuit between the artificial lungs to the heart to the natural brain. Because of the lungs’ efficiency, the carried oxygen within the circulatory system is sufficient to keep a Reaver alive for at least several hours in a vacuum unconscious in suspension. In terms of injuries or wounds, those inflicted to the dermis will typically be the bright red of capillaries helping maintain an organic illusion but damage deeper than that almost always results in the dark blue fluid being haemorrhaged from a Reaver’s body.

To successfully integrate a Reaver into everyday society, they come equipped with a full artificial dermis and epidermis that contains capillaries, machine sensory nerves, sweat glands, and grows body hair. It is more resistant to damage and corrosion than the natural product and is shaped and moulded according to the user’s tastes with adjustments being made according to their own self-image by the picodrones. For example, even though the dermis doesn’t scar if the user believes themselves to be scarred; the Picodrones will create a facsimile of scar tissues such as collagen to give the appearance of scarring. The artificial dermis is deformable and has capacitance capability; this means that the skin will shift or ripple when force is applied to its’ surface and is warm to touch. Heated by the organic capillaries and red blood that sit throughout the organ and a steady supply of machine blood laying beneath the dermal layer.

Though they lack a lymphatic, immune system, the Reaver approximates its’ function through the use of Picodrones which are microscopic machines that move through both the synthetic and organic circulatory system searching for foreign objects and tissue, eliminating them as they are discovered. The Picodrones can also contain, isolate and neutralise cytotoxic drugs, viruses and bacteria from the user’s organic fabric. With this in mind, they can’t fall prey to viral or bacteria or be incapacitated by powerful chemical agents. They also have a degree of resistance to the dreaded virus generally known as “Blackwing” due to the absence of many natural organs in their body.

Outwardly it would appear that the Reaver’s user possesses a pair of natural eyes however these are facsimiles covering and protecting what is in truth a pair of cybernetic ‘eyes’ which function like multi-channel cameras that connect to the user’s organic nervous system to produce images. Each camera’s resolution is rated at approximately 576 Megapixels, much like a human eye. Unlike actual droids or other cybernetic organisms, the Reaver’s eyes do not feature a heads-up display or any kind of image magnification. Their cybernetic “eyes” are capable of light-amplification and therefore seeing in dark environments with sharp resolution. Interestingly, the Reaver’s eyes do possess functioning tear ducts as part of their artificial dermis and as such are capable of lubricating their “false eyes” and crying though naturally only when the artificial skin is intact.

In terms of locomotion, the Reaver system is a bipedal humanoid. It possesses several jointed limbs which act as faithful copies of the user’s organic body and can be moulded by the Picodrones. The elbows and knees are hinge joints. The hands and feet are defined by the presence of powerful jointed digits capable of withstanding significant trauma and are significantly advanced in their design and articulation. The system of servos and joints grant the Reaver system considerable strength and endurance, for example, a representative body can lift five to seven times their own mass, lower limbs extremities such as the legs can support a running speed above one hundred kilometres per hour allowing the user to replicate the effects of force wielder’s abilities such as “force speed” for a sustained duration. The reaver body’s joints can typically resist approximately 37,000 pounds per square inch of pressure before fracture patterns generally are detected, allowing the chassis to survive significantly high falls.

To protect the cybernetic organs and circulatory structures of the Reaver platform, several “hard” laminated armour panels are screwed to the system’s skeleton. They are found bonded to parts of the thorax, abdomen and limbs most notably. Thought was explicitly given to preventing dismemberment and traumatic injury to vital organs such as the cybernetic heart and lungs. The panels are approximately 3-5mm thick and should reliably resist kinetic, directed energy, electromagnetic, ionic and sonic threats. There are several utility features incorporated into the Reaver to make it a real full-spectrum warfare platform. For example, the Reaver features hardware capable of radio frequency identification and permits the user to interface with and control equipment that has wireless capability. Augmenting this capability is an array of diodes and transistors located throughout the Reaver body, providing an actual hardware interface that allows the user to connect directly to computer systems and manipulate them through a neural interface. In practical terms, this means the user can access the holonet with their own nervous system or effectively breach security software through physically connecting to the network.

A cybernetic weapon system ought to have some kind of on-board armament and the Reaver is thus equipped with an in-built weapon. The Reaver is equipped with several electro-magnetic field generators particularly in the limbs, it can use these field generators to locally jam communications or alternatively neutralize deflector shields such as ray shields on contact. Additionally, the reaver features nitrogen-argon-oxygen gas intakes which then vaporise the gas into a four-thousand degree Celsius plasma which can be manipulated and shaped by the Reaver’s electro-magnetic field generators. A reaver can use this capability to temporarily form a superheated magnetically field around a melee weapon provided it has material qualities sufficient to withstand the heat.

This is one of the most well designed pieces of hardware I have ever seen. I mean that to, one of the most detailed I have ever seen.
