STRENGTHS
  • Shock-Pad Bracing System - Installed primarily due to the weapon's large size and heavy weight which precludes firing the weapon shouldered like many other rifles. This system permits the operator to brace Project Theta against their hip when firing the weapon platform. This in turn distributes the weight and shock of the weapon across a larger area to better assist in countering the high recoil of the weapon.
  • Smart-Gun Armorlink - Integrated directly into the primary systems of Project Theta is a series of components that link the weapon into the operator's helmet-based H.U.D. within the Project Omega Armor platform and similar armor platforms produced by The Hellforge. The system incorporates a series of miniature holocameras and laser range finders coupled with providing an operator with a detailed readout of the remaining munition inventory, heat buildup, and material stress of the Project Theta platform. Additionally, the holocameras can be utilized to scout or fire around blind corners - while the laser range finders assist in the calculation of projectile trajectory for increased accuracy over greater distances.
  • Advanced Immobilizer Safety System - Installed in the grip of Project Theta is a specialized component that prevents the weapon system from being operated without proper authorization as a means to prevent unauthorized use of the weapon system by civilians or an enemy if captured during combat. The basic system - which is installed in every off-the-line weapon platform locks the system and prevents operation unless the proper RFID or authorized biometric scan is introduced. A more advanced, optional, version of the System locks the weapon down and initiates a self-destruct device which can result in the potential maiming or death of an unauthorized user.
  • Safe Target System - A safety feature that is installed in the Project Theta weapon system is meant to ensure and prevent future instances of friendly fire via locking the firing system of the weapon platform when reading the appropriate IFF Circuitry present in the Project Omega platform and similar Hellforge armor systems.
  • High Damage Output - Chambering a round that is larger than the smaller Project Theta | M64 Kinetic Rifle - maintains the potential of easily shredding through lighter armors and defenses. Though having a substantially tougher time in penetrating heavier armors, vehicles, and fortifications - it still carries the potential to leave sizeable divots or dents in such armor. Often this is more than enough to cause an individual on the receiving end of these rounds to question the life choices that placed them in this position.
  • Gunner Shield Plate - Located roughly at the center of the weapon is a larger shield that provides additional cover and protective capabilities to the operator of the weapon system. The shield plate also provides additional protective capabilities to components of the weapon - specifically its secondary weapon grip, munitions intake, and the primary casing the houses the bulk of the weapon's specialized systems.
  • Suppressive Fire - Disregarding the limitations of the weapon - an operator of a Project Theta platform can utilize the weapon as a predominately suppressive platform via the continued operation and sustained fire of the weapon. However; this has its own downsides and often causes damage or catastrophic failure of the weapon as described below.

WEAKNESSES
  • Safe Target System - Though installed with the utmost best interest - the System itself can often cause problems on the field of battle in terms of what it considers to be an at-risk-friendly target. This often requires that a larger object or obstacle is located between a target and a friendly to ensure that the weapon platform operates as intended. In these instances, the trigger is often locked at inopportune times, rendering the operator at greater risks for the duration that the platform is locked.
  • Cumbersome - Project Theta - much like the other weapons in the line as well as its predecessors - are produced with the intention that they are utilized in tandem with the Project Omega platform or similar armor platforms produced by The Hellforge. With this in mind, these weapons are often very cumbersome, large and heavy, and very difficult to operate even for some of the strongest species in the galaxy such as Wookiees and Herglics.
  • Excessive Heat Buildup - A byproduct of the weapon being utilized to maintain a sustained suppressive fire - Project Theta weapons - due in part to the larger caliber slugs that are chambered by these weapons, produce a substantial amount of heat. This buildup is often greatly increased when the weapon is maintaining a sustained stream of fire - and in many cases - if this buildup is not properly monitored or otherwise ignored - the potential of damage to internal systems and components or irreparable damage to the weapon overall is greatly increased. In the direst of situations, this can often lead to a catastrophic failure of the weapon platform which can result in the potential maiming or death of the careless operator.
  • Belt-Feed Jamming - While the weapon system overall is highly reliable it still maintains gremlins and minor problems that have been carried over in the general design from its predecessors. Such a flaw is seen in the belt-fed of the weapon - that, while a flexible contained feed - can often jam during the regular operation of the weapon platform. These jams can at times be easily cleared - however - the duration it takes to clear them leaves the operator and weapon system itself vulnerable to damage.
  • Cutting the Feed - The primary belt-feed system of the weapon - while highly flexible and allows for easy movement with the operator - is still exposed. Potentially, a skilled sharpshooter or lucky errant shot could theoretically damage the feed in such a way as to prevent its continued operation. Though the weapon could still maintain fire if hand-fed - more often than not - the weapon is forced to be taken offline for the appropriate repairs and in the direst of cases, rendered ineffective on the field of battle.
  • Specialist Deployment - Additional training is often required to properly operate these specific Project Theta weapon systems. To this end, these weapons are not as widely deployed as their smaller counterparts - with one such weapon platform being deployed per twenty-five to fifty operators in a formation.
  • Confined Spaces - Primary due to the weapon's large size - it is otherwise unwieldy and highly suggested that these weapons not be utilized in tight, confined spaces that would otherwise make them difficult to properly operate.

DESCRIPTION
The continued step forward of the Project Theta weapon system design line that replaces its predecessor weapon platforms as seen in the older Heavy Kinetic Rifle variants - with the intention behind the production of this variant to be the standard-issue heavy support weapon for the aforementioned Confederate Space Marines that will be utilized in tandem with the Project Omega armor platform and similar Hellforge production projects. The weapon platform chambers a .998 caliber solid slug which is fed into the weapon via a flexible belt-feed - The Project Theta M64 Heavy Kinetic Rifle - at times informally and infrequently referred to as a Heavy Boltgun or Heavy Bolter - is a Heavy Support Weapon in the same vein as similar weapon systems such as Heavy Repeaters and Heavy Repeating Blasters, with its primary function to serve as a heavy squad support weapon platform. Its overall size and weight - which accounts for some of the problems that many face when attempting to utilize the weapon - make it a cumbersome piece of equipment often requiring some mechanical assistance to life and properly fire - which is often found when utilizing the Project Omega armor platform - as even some of the strongest species in the galaxy such as Wookiees and Herglics have trouble lifting and firing the weapon system without additional assistance. Though it takes a number of design features and aspects of its predecessors, it also maintains its own additions that are not seen on those predecessor models - specifically the addition on a Gunner Shield Plate to provide additional protective capabilities to the operator.

Seen in the bulk of the Project Theta weapon line - the Heavy Kinetic Rifle is equipped with a number of sophisticated systems and components that provide additional capabilities and safety features to the weapon and its operator when being utilized in the field. A Smart-Gun Armorlink provides a comprehensive readout of the weapon's remaining munition inventory, heat-buildup, and material stress of the weapon - while providing additional assistance in firing solutions via the utilization of a series of laser-rangefinders and holocameras. An additional Safe Firing System is installed with the intention of preventing friendly-fire incidents - however, there are times when this is a liability, locking the firing system in place at inopportune times during combat. An additional safety feature is the Immobilizer system - which locks the firing system to prevent the overall weapon system from being utilized by unauthorized operators unless the appropriate RFID or biometric scan is introduced to permit the use of the system. It should be noted though that these weapons often require additional specialized training, meaning that they are not as widely equipped and fielded as their smaller Project Theta rifle counterparts - with roughly one such weapon system deployed among twenty-five to fifty individuals.

Prone to excessive heat-buildup when being utilized to maintain suppressive fire or heavy fire support - which can cause damage to the internal components and systems, potentially leading to a catastrophic event - these weapons also have difficulty operating in confined spaces primarily due to their size - making their use in tight corridors and other such locations, difficult to properly operate. Likewise, an unfortunate byproduct of maintaining a number of design aspects of its predecessor - is that the weapon system is prone to jamming, requiring that the jam be rectified before it can resume standard operation. The flexible belt-feed is also highly exposed - leaving it vulnerable to damage or destruction - which in turn would also limit the operational status of the weapon system. Yet, with all of these drawbacks, it still shines in its primary role as a heavy support weapon - boasting a High Rate of Fire, the weapon system is capable of throwing solid slugs downrange - which coupled with its High Damage Output is more than capable of potentially shredding lightly armored individuals and vehicles or leaving dents and divots in some of the heavier armored forces that it may be deployed against.

Though a cumbersome weapon that requires additional specialized training and with a heavy reliance on available munitions - as well as a majority of its combined weaknesses - it is the overall design, reliability, and capabilities that see the weapon still deployed even in a galaxy that is so often filled with shielded individuals and laser-based weaponry. Thus it deserves its place among the Project Theta weapon line as well as some of the heaviest slugthrowers in existence.
