High Stopping Power - Firing a shell larger than the standard round of its predecessor; the Heavy Kinetic Rifle has the potential to tear through lightly armored personnel, vehicles and fortifications, and leave a sizeable dent in some of the more heavily fortified and armored opposition it comes up against.

Canoness Armor Firelink - An internal fire-link system within the weapon links to the HUD of the Canoness Battle Armor. This system incorporates a small camera and laser range finder and provides the operator with ammunition count, heat buildup, and material stress of the weapon. The camera can be utilized to fire around corners without exposing the individual to return fire. The system also aids in calculating trajectories of fire for increased accuracy over longer distances.

Reliability - The M58/H-Kr is known for its reliability and is capable of continued operation even after being exposed to dirt, mud, and other substances that would normally gunk up other weapons. With simple moving parts, and an ability to be easily broken down, the weapon can easily be cleaned.

Cumbersome - Meant to be coupled with the Canoness Battle Armor, the M58/H-Kr is unwieldy at the best of times. These weapons are difficult to pick up and fire without the assistance offered by the power-assisted servos of the Canoness armor, or by all but the largest of species (i.e. Wookies, Herglics, etc).

Heat Buildup - The size of the munitions coupled with the high impact of the rounds causes a rapid buildup of heat each time the weapon is fired.

Belt-Feed Jamming - While the weapon is reliable; it can experience a jam in the belt feed due in part to the size of the munitions fired, and the heat buildup that the weapon can experience. In this instance, the munitions fail to properly feed into the weapon, rendering the weapon incapable of firing. Even if an individual were to attempt to clear the jam by firing the weapon, it is more than likely that this would cause a catastrophic failure to the weapon.

Cut the Feed - While the belt-feed system is somewhat flexible; it is highly exposed - with a skilled sharpshooter or a lucky shot capable of damaging the belt system; which would, in turn, deprive the weapon of its munitions.

Stable Footing - The recoil of the Heavy Kinetic Rifle is such that one must ensure they have a stable footing or have the weapon braced against an object (defensive structure, window sill, broken wall) to properly fire the weapon without it knocking the operator back; even if they are wearing the Canoness Battle Armor.

Limited Deployment - Due to the cost of producing the Heavy Kinetic Rifle; they are not as widely issued as their smaller counterparts. To this end, there is only one Heavy Kinetic Rifle for every (50) Erinyes.

The M58 Heavy Kinetic Rifle, at times also called the 'Heavy Bolter', chambers a 90mm Slug which accounts for the weapon's increased size, weight and overall cumbersome handling when compared to the smaller M58 Kinetic Rifle. Much like its smaller counterpart, the Heavy Kinetic Rifle maintains the internal fire-link system that connects the weapon to the HUD of the Canoness Battle Armor. This allows the operator to have an up to date count on their munitions, the stress of the weapon and overall heat buildup that it may be experiencing - while also providing the capability to utilize the system to scout or fire around blind corners.

Its size and weight however vastly exceed that of its predecessor; being both heavier and larger than the smaller Kinetic Rifle. The weapon is still impractical for those without the Canoness Battle Armor or of a larger species (Wookies, Herglics, etc) to wield; though it even provides a bit more trouble with these individuals. Its increased size and higher recoil than its smaller counterpart make the weapon difficult at the best of times to fire properly. Individuals that have attempted to do so without proper footing or having braced the weapon on a support surface often find themselves on their backs looking up at the sky. While the smaller Kinetic Rifles experience a drawback of limited munitions - the Heavy Kinetic Rifle is fed with a belt system from an external pack (often worn on the back of the operator) which feeds munitions directly into the weapon. However, this system has its drawbacks, and due in part to the heat buildup that the weapon can experience - this feed system can at times jam at inopportune moments.

While it retains the reliability of its smaller counterparts - capable of still operating even after being dropped in the muck on the field of battle - it tends to jam due in part to the heat buildup that the weapon can experience. Likewise; with the belt-feed system being out in the open, a lucky shot from an enemy or a skilled sniper has the potential of damaging the feed system rending the weapon inoperable until repaired. The production cost of these weapons also ensures that only one is provided per (50) Erinyes when deployed - though this is often more than enough to aid in holding a position or making an enemy rethink their assault.
