STRENGTHS

AR-0B Damage Reduction Armor Component - Equipped with a specialized component; a constant ablative current is run through the hull plating of the vessel. This current is utilized to assist in the mitigation and management of damage, reducing its impact on the hull and in turn extending its endurance and longevity. This ensures increased times between the needs for repairs and refitting at repair yards or orbital facilities.

GalaxyGuard Mk VII - A secondary specialized component which itself serves to provide additional endurance and extend the operational range of a vessel's Deflector Shields. This increased range and endurance in turn provides further defensive and protective capabilities to ensure the continued operation of the vessel.

Extreme Armaments - Confirming its status as a Heavy Cruiser; the armaments of the Separatist-class match its classification, with a variety of heavier armaments and increased firepower carefully lain out across the hull. In particular, the series of Dual Heavy Agrocite Cannon Turrets enhance its already formidable armament capabilities.

Heavy Defenses - Likewise, the vessel is just as heavily defended as it is armed. These defenses serve to protect the vessel both during fleet engagements just as much as they serve to defend it during atmospheric operations.

Ventral Command Bridge - An oddity in the Separatist-class is the location of its bridge; which is located on the ventral side of the vessel. This is done to ensure that the vessel commanders have a firm and clear view of the surface and areas below the vessel when it is operating in the Atmosphere of a planet or serving as a command and control point during planetside engagements.

Geonosian Hive - Large interior sections of the vessel are designed in a similar capacity and style as the Geonosian Hives on their homeworld of Geonosis. The design is utilized to take as much advantage as possible of the limited room on the vessel to ensure that the largest possible inventory of deactivated battledroids can be loaded onto the vessel for later deployment planetside.

WEAKNESSES

Low Maneuverability - Owing partially to its classification as a Heavy Cruiser as well as its impressive array of armaments. The Separatist-class Cruiser is remarkably difficult to maneuver and lacks the maneuverability as some smaller ships or faster cruisers.

Low Speed - Likewise, the Separatist-class Cruiser; requiring room for heavier armaments and the capacity to carry large numbers of ground forces, has found its speed lacking due to the needs of its design. In this sense, it wont be wining any regattas any time soon, or running down fast-moving vessels such as Fast Attack Frigates or Corvettes without additional support.

Ventral Command Bridge - Though the bridge was designed to provide a commanding view of the immediate area beneath the vessel as utilized in planetside operations and ground engagements; this design also leaves the bridge and by extension, the command staff, of the vessel vulnerable to ground-to-air fire. In the event of the destruction of the bridge, the vessel would be rendered inoperable - and in the worst case scenario, potentially result in the vessel crashing into the planet.

Prow Hangar Bay - The Separatist-class Cruiser is capable of carrying a single squadron of Support Craft - often utilized to ferry and deploy its large complement of battledroids and organic forces to the planet. However, the location of the hangar bay is located in a very precarious position; being the prow of the vessel. This only permits one craft to enter or exit at a time, which must be carefully coordinated to prevent mid-air collisions, and in the event of sufficient damage to the prow, would prevent any craft from being deployed.

Atmospheric Vulnerability - While the vessel was designed with the intention of utilizing its capabilities in the atmosphere of a planet - the vessel's shields often experience fluctuations and other minor issues that otherwise interfere with their normal operation, which can include a marked decrease of endurance or operational capabilities. This means that in many cases, heavier Ground-to-Air weaponry is more than sufficient to rapidly deplete and ultimately overcome the vessel's shields.

Additional Support - Due to its lack of maneuverability, speed, and starfighter support, the Separatist-class Cruiser is dependent upon additional vessels during both fleet engagement and often at times, planetside engagements. This can range from Corvettes and Frigates during fleet engagements to overcome dedicated Starfighter screens, to Heavy Artillery, Anti-Air Support, and ground support to overcome enemy Air-elements or Anti-Air Ground Support during planetside operations.

DESCRIPTION

While little is known of the original Separatist-class Cruiser, beyond the knowledge that it was operational during the Battle of Geonosis and Battle of Kashyyyk during the Clone Wars, it was still seen as a capable vessel and was considerably armed. Following in a similar path to that little knowledge and expanding upon its possible utilization, the current Separatist-class Cruiser was introduced to fill a somewhat similar role. The vessel was designed with the idea of providing a heavier air-presence and support element for planetside forces during such engagements, and to this end, the unique and somewhat bizarre feature of the Separatist-class was born. Unlike many similar vessels or most craft for that matter, the bridge of the Separatist-class is located on the ventral section of the vessel, and designed in such a way as to provide a commanding view of the immediate area beneath the vessel during planetary operations. The primary drawback with this design, is that the bridge is located on the ventral section of the vessel, leaving it highly vulnerable to enemy ground-fire if it is not appropriate or adequately protected. In the event that the bridge were irreparably damaged or otherwise destroyed, the Separatist-class would be rendered without a command structure, and could potentially - in some instances - resulted in the vessel crashing into the planet or otherwise become uncontrollable due to lack of flight controls. And though the vessel is capable of carrying a squadron of support craft, the location of its hangar bay is also an odd design choice - being placed along the prow of the vessel. This has its own drawbacks, such as the potential of the hangar becoming damaged and preventing the vessel from launching or receiving any of its support craft. Even with its lower speed and maneuverability, as well as its need to rely upon additional vessels or ground elements for added support - that should not take away from the simple fact that the Separatist-class is still Heavy Cruiser and it reflects that classification it its extreme armaments. Equipped with a set of four Dual Heavy Agrocite Cannons; the weapons are just effective against enemy Capital Ships as they are when turned against planetary emplacements. Likewise, the vessel is heavily defended - including, what has become standard components on such vessels, the AR-0B Damage Reduction Component and the GalaxyGuard Mk VII system - both utilized to increase the endurance and protective capabilities of the vessel. Internally, the Separatist-class Cruiser resembles a Geonosian Hive, with the design utilized to ensure that maximum amount of Battle Droids and Passenger Capacity without losing space for the heavy armaments. While the uses of the original Separatist-class Cruiser and its specifications have been lost in the times since its original appearance during the Clone Wars - this iteration of the vessel is more than suitable of picking up its mantle and moving forward. A vessel that is capable of standing its own in fleet engagements, as well as provide support for planetary engagements - the Separatist-class Cruiser is more than capable of serving as both a Heavy Cruiser and Planetary Assault Craft.
