ADVANCED FEATURES

STRENGTHS
  • High Maneuverability - The Sabaoth-class was designed with a primary focus centered around maneuverability, ensuring that the Starfighter was capable of out-turning and out-maneuvering more powerful Starfighters and Bombers to overcome its lack of defensive capabilities.
  • High Speed - Likewise, the lack of heavier armors and specialized design has ensured that the Sabaoth-class is a capable of outpacing other Starfighters, earing its classification as an Interceptor.
  • AR-0B Damage Reduction Armor Component - A specialized component that is often fitted on vessels designed by Von Sorenn Industries and its affiliated Subsidiaries, the AR-0B maintains an ablative current that courses through the hull plating of the vessel. This current increases the longevity of the hull plating through the removal of harmful particles that may have built up on the hull as a result of laser-based weapon fire.
  • R-PB6 Repair Unit - Each Sabaoth-class is equipped with a system that can launch specialized probe droids; which in turn can be utilized to repair nearby vessels including the vessel that has deployed the repair unit. This provides a means to repair the Sabaoth-class even in the middle of a fleet engagement.
  • L-41c Power Converter - A favorite among Starfighter Pilots, the L-41c allows a pilot to transfer the ship's engine power into the weapon reserve; which in turn allows the weapons to fire for a longer, sustained period than otherwise capable.
  • TX-100 Component - Though more often utilized on vessels with power hungry armaments, the Sabaoth-class is equipped with a TX-100; this component is often utilized to boost the vessel's maximum weapon power.

WEAKNESSES
  • Minimal Armaments - Though carrying a larger armament than its predecessor; it is still relatively lightly armed, with the majority of its weapons classified as Light Laser Cannons.
  • Minimal Defenses - Likewise, in order to provide for an increase in speed, the Sabaoth-class maintains only minimal defenses, relying more on speed and maneuverability than on heavy armor.
  • WhisperThrust Engine - Each Sabaoth-class is equipped with a specialized engine that utilizes supercooled gases and components to trap and scatter emissions produced by the engines to ensure the vessel creates as little sensor wake as possible. However, the engine only works when the vessel is traveling at lower speeds - with any sudden burst of speed or rapid maneuver immediately canceling the advantage the engine provides and causing the vessel to be picked up on sensors and scanners.
  • SLAM Passout - Though the vessel is centered around speed and maneuverability, the Sabaoth-class has been outfitted with a specialized SubLight Accelerator Motor which acts as an override system to increase a vessel's sublight speed. The downside of utilizing this override, can often result in the crew passing-out or becoming incapable of operating the vessel; leaving it at the mercy of an enemy.
  • L-41c Power Converter - In the event that the L-41c is utilized by the pilot to increase the weapon reserves, it also decreases the engine power; resulting in a marked loss of speed for the Sabaoth-class.
  • Forward Firing Arc - Like many other Starfighter designs - excluding specialized designs - the Sabaoth-class maintains all of its weaponry in a forward-firing arc, requiring that the vessel be oriented to allow the gunner to utilize the weapons.

DESCRIPTION
Sabaoth, a name steeped in infamy and well known as an ancient mercenary squadron that served the Confederacy of Independent Systems in the Clone Wars under the leadership of Cavik Toth - fielding Destroyers, Frigates, and Starfighters alike. The Sabaoth-class Interceptor carries on that name, and to a lesser extent, that legacy of The Sabaoth Squadron. Designed and focused around the central ideal of maneuverability and speed over heavy firepower and armor, the vessel is capable of performing tight banks, and maneuvers; coupled with its speed, which allow it to outpace, outrun, and overcome enemy Starfighters and Bombers. Its role as an Interceptor - a step away from its predecessor's classification as a Starfighter - is accomplished by this design centered around speed and maneuverability. Though to accomplish this, as mentioned, came at the cost in other regards - specifically its utilization of lighter weaponry and lighter armor platting.

A major difference between its predecessor and the Sabaoth-class, is the inclusion of a secondary co-pilot which also acts as the gunner. In this regard, it allows the Pilot to focus predominately on flying the craft, whilst the Co-Pilot is left to operate the guns and focus on secondary systems. Though not as effective as an Astromech Droid; this coupling serves the purpose in attempting to further lessen the weight - which might have otherwise been added with a heavier droid and additional components to service a specialized droid socket. The Sabaoth-class also comes equipped with a specialized SLAM component; this allows the pilot to override certain safety features and increase the sublight speed of the vessel. The primary downside of this is the potential that it has in causing the crew of the vessel to pass-out; in this event it would render the vessel at the mercy of an enemy, as it would otherwise be inoperable.

Like many Starfighter designs, the vessel's weapons are arranged in a forward-firing arc, requiring that the Sabaoth-class be oriented to bring its weapons to bear on an enemy target. Additional specialized components include the L-41c Power Converter, which allows the pilot to transfer the vessel's engine power into the weapon reserves; though this often comes at the cost of lowering the speed of the vessel. Likewise, the WhisperThrust Engine, which can serve to minimize the sensor wake of the vessel, is only useful if the Sabaoth-class is traveling at a lower speed - with any sudden burst of speed or movement immediately rendering the vessel visible on scanners and sensors.

However, all-in-all, the Sabaoth-class serves as a suitable augmentation to the older Sabaoth-class Starfighter, if not outright a suitable replacement for the aged design. With a focus on speed and maneuverability, its central deployment mentality is focused on outrunning and outmaneuvering rather than outgunning an enemy force.
