ADVANCED FEATURES

STRENGTHS
  • AR-0B Damage Reduction Armor Component - A staple component in many of the vessels produced by Astraeus Naval Ordnance - and Von Sorenn Industries - the AR-0B produces an ablative current that courses through a starship's hull. This current aids in reducing damage to the hull plating, thus increasing its longevity and the durations between visits to shipyards or dedicated repair stations.
  • GalaxyGuard Mk VII - Providing for additional endurance and range to a vessel's already established Deflector Shield, this device - with three such devices being stacked together - provides additional defensive capabilities to the Gozanti-class' already impressive defenses.
  • Gunboat Diplomacy - A vast difference between its predecessors and the vessel is the addition of a vast array of weapon systems and defensive capabilities that were lacking in previous Gozanti designs. Owning more so to its classification as a proper Cruiser - when compared to previous iterations - the Gozanti-class maintains multiple Turbolaser Cannons, Heavy Ion Cannons, and an impressive array of anti-missile systems and defensive cannons.
  • Starfighter Carrier - A marked difference between the Gozanti-class and its predecessors is the extensive hangar bay capacity - as well as carrying over the design of utilizing exterior mountings and docking clamps. This ensures that the Gozanti-class is capable of deploying a small contingent of Starfighters into an engagement as well as carry Support Craft for planetside operations.
  • Phylon Q7 Heavy Tractor Beam Projectors - Spaced out in multiple arrays along the length of the vessel to provide overlapping fields; the Gozanti-class is equipped with a number of Heavy Tractor Beam Projectors that can be utilized to hold and secure disabled enemy vessels to prevent their attempted escape so that boarding parties may properly board and secure the vessel from the inside.
  • Assault Carrier Configuration - Utilizing the expansive cargo hold as well as the exterior docking clamps and mounts, the Gozanti-class is capable of being rapidly refitted into an assault carrier capable of deploying a small garrison - with vehicles and command staff - planetside. This can be used to great effect to rapidly reinforce a position or deploy a standing force into a key location to secure it before an enemy force is capable of taking a ground side objective.

WEAKNESSES
  • Low Maneuverability - The Gozanti-class was purposely designed with a lack of maneuverability in mind. The reason behind this was, much like its predecessors, to prevent the vessel from being utilized by pirate factions in the event of its capture. This unfortunately also means that it is not capable of keeping up with more maneuverable enemies units, often causing it to rely on more nimble support vessels or its own small complement of Starfighter Squadrons.
  • Low Speed - Following in the same mindset of reducing the vessel's maneuverability, the Gozanti-class remains a slow-moving vessel for the sole purpose of preventing its use by pirate factions in the event of the vessel being captured. Likewise, this means that the vessel is otherwise incapable of keeping up with or running down faster vessels, forcing it to rely on faster support vessels.
  • Exterior Starfighter Squadron - Though capable of carrying a full complement of Starfighter Squadrons in internal hangar bays, it still maintains an exterior squadron of starfighters. Mounted on exterior racks and docking clamps, these vessels - though mounted in a means to ensure rapid deployment of the first squadron - are also vulnerable until they are deployed; potentially hindering the vessel's Starfighter capabilities.
  • Underside-Mounted Docking Clamps - A series of docking clamps connect the exterior-mounted Starfighters to the interior of the vessel with a set of adjoining docking tubes; which provide easy access for the pilots to enter their craft. However, these exterior docking clamps can be targeted, and are often vulnerable to enemy fire - with sustained damage either disabling or destroying these clamps and preventing pilots from reaching their craft.
  • Drop Vulnerability - Capable of ferrying ground forces planetside, or maneuvering vehicles into forward positions utilizing the same exterior docking clamps and mounts; this, however, presents a similar problem. During the transit of these ground elements and vehicles, they are just as much vulnerable as those Starfighters mounted on the exterior racks; making for tantalizing targets that could damage or otherwise disable the vessel if the advantage was taken while it is operating in the atmosphere to drop off ground elements.
  • Automation - Much like the more recent Recusant-class and Munificent-class vessels produced by Astraeus Naval Ordnance, many of the internal systems of the Gozanti-class are automated with the use of integrated droid brains to alleviate the burden of the small crew that operates these vessels. In the likelihood that the vessel was to sustained prolonged fire and potential damage from Ion-based weaponry, these systems could potentially be disabled or otherwise damaged, making the operation of the vessel even more difficult for the crew.

DESCRIPTION
The Gozanti-class Cruiser has been a staple vessel in a myriad of organization's fleets - both Civilian and Military - since its original introduction sometime prior to the start of the Clone Wars. Throughout both the Clone Wars and the succeeding Galactic Civil War, the Gozanti-class Cruiser served the Confederacy of Independent Systems, Black Sun Syndicate, Galactic Empire, and even the Rebel Alliance - providing a well rounded and stable starship that has stood the test of time. Now, at the far end of Galaxy, many years after its first introduction, a new breed of Gozanti-class Cruiser is being introduced to the Galaxy.

Larger than its predecessors - and thus establishing it firmly in its proper classification as a Light Cruiser - the Gozanti-class is a vessel designed to fill a similar role. Purposely designed with a lack of speed and maneuverability - to prevent its utilization by Pirate Factions in the event of a vessel's capture - the Gozanti-class can serve in similar roles as a Freighter, Patrol Vessel, Assault Carrier, or Rescue Vessel. The primary drawback of this design, however, as mentioned, is its lack of maneuverability and speed - often causing it to rely on additional support craft or its own Starfighter complement to handle fast-moving targets such as Starfighters, Corvettes, and Fast Attack Frigates. However, it is well equipped to disable enemy vessels - utilizing a series of Heavy Ion Cannon Turrets and Heavy Tractor Beam Projectors to disable and hold vessels in place so its own contingent of Security Personnel - or ferried military forces - can secure the opposing vessel internally.

Though it maintains an extensive internal hangar bay to house multiple Squadrons - it still retains design elements from previous iterations, specifically the exterior mounting and docking clamps that were seen on the Imperial Gozanti-class Cruiser. These components can be utilized to rapidly deploy one of its Starfighter Squadrons into an engagement - or - can be refitted to carry and deploy ground-side vehicles and forces. However, this leaves any such vehicle that is mounted on these exterior clamps vulnerable - and in the event that the clamps and adjoining docking tubes are damaged, it would prevent pilots or crews from entering their mounted vehicles, greatly reducing the vessel's effectiveness. Even with this drawback, the Gozanti-class maintains somewhat flexible modularity in its internal design, allowing it to be rapidly refitted in a matter of hours to act as an Assault Carrier and ferry ground forces to planetside engagements - either by dropping them at the front of a battlefield or to secure positions prior to an enemy force's arrival.

With the new design being much larger than its predecessor iterations and variants - the Gozanti-class is not intended to fully replace or displace those vessels and their time-tested designs. Rather, this larger variant is fully intended to supplement those smaller Gozanti designs and work in tandem with the aging vessels to provide additional support that their smaller cousins are otherwise incapable of providing for larger fleet formations. All in all, as a successor to the Gozanti line, the Gozanti-class Cruiser has great potential to fill in the role of a proper Cruiser and work side-by-side with other Gozanti iterations to provide a well ground support net for an established fleet.
