STRENGTHS
  • Pressure Seal - Located along the underside of the weapon is a specialized seal that allows for the weapon to be attached to a backpack feed for longer uninterrupted usage - or more commonly - accept smaller fuel canisters for quick refueling in bursts.
  • Pressure Gauge - Much like the standardized Safety System in the Project Theta platforms - Project Eta is equipped with a simple gauge that provides a simplistic readout on the pressure that the weapon system and its fuel canisters are experiencing during operation. This ensures that the operator is capable of adjusting their fire or otherwise shutting off the weapon in regular intervals to prevent the weapon from becoming damaged or otherwise rupturing during operation.
  • Heat Dispersion Vents - Additional safety features installed - located nearer to the nozzle of Project Eta - that assist in dispersing the heat produced by the weapon during its normal operation. This is intended to ensure that the weapon's nozzle and barrel are not intervisible or otherwise irreparably damaged while in operation.
  • Adjustable Nozzle - A minor change to the Project Eta that was not seen in its predecessor is the inclusion of an adjustable nozzle that is capable of changing the length, size, and shape of the stream of fuel - this is often used to overcome different obstacles and problems that an operator may experience or come across and allows them to adjust accordingly as needed.
  • Reverse & Off-Set Grip - The grips of Project Eta were designed in such a way as to keep the operator's hands-free of the weapon - specifically those portions of the weapon that may be heated or otherwise hot to the touch as a means of additional safety and protection.
  • Extreme Rate of Fire - Boasting an extremely high rate of fire - often experienced when a Project Eta operator maintains constant pressure on the firing trigger of the weapon platform.
  • Highly Destructive - Producing a Jet-stream, Cone-shaped, or Stream-line of highly flammable sticky fuel makes for a difficult challenge in snuffing out the flames - as water assists in spreading the flames further. Project Eta's destructive capabilities are greatly increased when it comes to those items or individuals that are not properly protected against flames with the appropriate flame-resistant or flame-retardant components or materials.

WEAKNESSES
  • Pilot Flame - Located beneath the primary barrels of the Project Eta weapon system is an ignited pilot flame that is utilized in igniting the highly flammable stream of fuel utilized by the weapon system. It shoulder, however, be noted that this pilot flame is exposed and has the potential of being snuffed out - which would, in turn, render the weapon inoperable until the flame was reignited - a task which is potentially daunting in the heat of battle.
  • Extreme Rate of Fire - Though boasting an extremely high rate of fire - the downside of this is that Project Eta rapidly consumes its fuel source, be it a standard canister which it can consume in a matter of seconds - or the larger attached backpack which can be consumed within a couple of minutes.
  • Additional Training - Those individuals that utilize the Project Eta weapon system are highly trained in the proper operation and utilization of the weapon system itself. With this in mind, these weapons are likewise not as widespread in terms of deployment when compared to the more standardized Project Theta Rifle. Much like the Project Theta Heavy Rifle, the Project Eta weapon system is only deployed in limited numbers due to this need for additional training - with roughly one weapon system operator present among twenty-five to fifty individuals in a deployment.
  • Highly Destructive - Incapable of discerning between friend or foe, important or non-important, anything that lays within the path of this weapon and its destructive flames that are not protected by any kind of resistant or protective materials may be lain to waste and ultimately destroyed without a second thought or pause.
  • Cumbersome - Project Eta was designed - much like its predecessor - is designed and produced to be utilized in tandem with the Project Omega armor platform and similar armors produced by The Hellforge. The Project Eta weapon platform is notoriously difficult to wield without the assistance of the aforementioned armor platform and proves difficult for even some of the strongest species in the galaxy - such as Wookiees and Herglics - to lift, carry, and operate these weapon platforms without assistance.
  • Limited Range - Purely designed as a weapon that is often utilized in close quarters or enclosed confines and lacks any kind of effective range - even when capable of producing a concentrated stream. With this in mind - as an operator often needs to be closer to a target to be effective - an enemy has the potential of picking off Project Eta operators before they reach their target or potentially hold their own forces back until the Project Eta weapon system's fuel has been depleted; moving in during the reloading phase to neutralize the operator.
  • Exposure - Between a lack of protective capabilities - such as the gunner shield seen on the Project Theta Heavy Rifle - or an effective operational range that limits it to close-quarters combat and situations - the Project Eta weapon system operator is left vulnerable and often requires cover or additional cover from allies to properly move into position.

DESCRIPTION
An advanced and updated variant of its predecessor weapon system - the Project Eta weapon system is a heavy suppressive weapon with the intention of assisting in keeping a position pinned or overall destruction of a target due to its destructive flames that it spews. Carrying a small fuel canister with a mixture of Kessoline-Malastarian Fuel that has had a gelling agent added to the fuel - the Project Eta M64 Flame Project - which at times is infrequently known as a Flame Thrower or Flamer - is utilized more as a weapon of abject terror and a tool of destruction more so than similar weapon systems or support weapons intended to provide additional fire support to squads of soldiers. Its size and weight make for a cumbersome weapon system that is often difficult to lift and operate even by some of the strongest species in the galaxy - it is best utilized when working in tandem with a Project Omega armor system. Its overall design takes aspects and features from its predecessors - specifically its off-set and reverse grips which are intended to provide additional safety to the operator by keeping their hands away from the heated metal of its primary barrel.

Its sophisticated - though simple pressure seal - ensures that the weapon can easily be reloaded by rapidly ejected a spent canister or attaching it to a flexible feeding tube that is often attached to a larger backpack feed for longer usage. A number of other features - such as a pressure gauge and heat dispersion vents provided additional safety means to ensure that an operator is capable of maintaining a successive stream of flame without damaging or blowing the weapon system apart. It should be noted, however, that though the weapon produces a highly destructive flame - which can be changed via an adjustable nozzle to produce a cone or stream - there is no means of ensuring that its flames do not consume friendlies just as much as its flames would consume an enemy. These weapons - though destructive - otherwise have no means to identify a friend or a foe, making their utilization on a field of battle just as terrifying for the enemy as they are to their own forces due to their overall destructive and indiscriminate flames. Though able to maintain a high rate of fire - this is also its primary downfall - as this high rate can rapidly consume the fuel utilized by this weapon - and as it requires additional specialized training which reduces the number of these weapons deployed, those that are trained in its use are trained to utilize only short bursts to conserve their fuel.

However, even though it is a highly destructive weapon system - it still has its own faults - specifically in that the operator of the Project Eta weapon system is often highly exposed - with little to no protective means such as the Gunner Plate Shield as seen in the Project Theta Heavy Kinetic Rifle. More often than not - operators of the Project Eta system are often seen as tantalizing targets and are usually picked off first - with those carrying the larger fuel tanks presenting a possible destructive fireball that could maim and kill those around them if it were set off or destroyed. Though even with this hazardous and often precarious position of utilizing these weapons - those that do field and carry the Project Eta into battle - are often considered some of the most mentally unstable individuals, as they are often only the craziest individuals that would willingly strap a tank of fuel to their back with little to no regard to their own personal safety.

Even with these drawbacks - often outweighing the use and strengths of the weapon - the Project Eta system and many Flamethrowers and Flame Projects are still finding their own use throughout the Galaxy. And as more cosmic horrors and biological entities of consumption seek to feast upon the Galaxy, the phrase "Kill it with Fire!" is still just as prevalent and in many cases, a primary directive of many combat units.
