Preventative Measures (Republic)

"Understood, lets see what they can do." As he finally came over to the men, Vulpesen turned his speeder into a spin, coming just short of the slavers. Frightened by the jedi's sudden appearance, they did what any sensible criminal would do. They ran. Full retreat and back towards the padawan learners, they sprinted and attempted to get away from the shadow, now behind them. Tapping into his com system, Vulpesen now spoke to @[member="Hasjo Hallu"], @Assak Tey, and @[member="Meeristali Peradun"]. "Herdin them back, lets see what you guys can do."

"Was that necessary? We could have followed them back to their headquarters, if they are the group we're searching for" Hasjo spoke over his comm link, directed to the Jedi Shadow. He made no move to pursue the suspects, they had no hard evidence on them. Hasjo simply sat in his land speeder, slowed to a sudden halt. He watched them over his holographic display as they fled right in front of his vehicle, and still he did nothing to stop them. "With all due respect, I didn't see them commit a crime. Not to mention, anyone living down here would bolt if a Jedi suddenly jumped in their way."

"Smart padawan. If you think they're innocent then they should be fine with a simple request for them to come with you for a few questions. Besides, if they are the men we're looking for, then their capture will not only give us their location, but also what we might find at their base." Returning to his original course, he continued speaking. "I am also trusting in the word of your fellow jedi, something you must learn to do as well."

"If" was all Hasjo replied over the communication link. This Master worked in ways that Hasjo was not a fan of, to say in kind words. Hasjo believed himself to be a servant of the Republic, and doing such was not chasing down innocents through alleyways and detaining them. Innocent until proven guilty, someone had told him long ago when he was a youngling. He didn't recall much of the person who had said it, she had a motherly away about her. She smelt of cookies and taught love. But the memory was long ago, when he was a much younger person. He ignored the comment of his trust. This was not a matter of trust, but right and wrong. At least, in Hasjo's mind. He had become increasingly despondent with the Jedi Order of late. He unbuckled his harness and got out of the land speeder. The headlights remained online. While he would not detain them, he would ask a few questions if they agreed. "Halt!" Hasjo commanded with a powerful tone of authority. The three came to a screeching stop, unknowing whether to continue to flee or stay. The Nautolan approached them "I'm sorry to disturb you. I wish to ask what your purpose was down in that alley?" Hasjo flicked his hand in the direction they had come from. The runt of the litter scratched his arms hurriedly. It was clear he was a user of drugs. "L-look, we didn't m-mean too, w-we just h-have an a-addiction, pp-please don't arrest u-us"
Hasjo pointed to his pocket "What's that there?" The man willingly gave out what he held in his pockets, deathsticks. Hasjo snatched them from his hand, confiscating the illegal drugs. "Don't let me catch you doing this again, or I'll call the CSF." Hasjo turned his backs to the three. The moment Hasjo had his back turned, they fled again. It was clear they had been spooked something fierce by the presence of Jedi in the Underground, this far down. Hasjo sat into his land speeder, saying only a few words over his comm "Deathstick addicts." Hasjo buckled his harness over him, floored the accelerator and clasped the controls. Speeding off into the streets once more.

Asaak Tey said:
"Got something here you guys. Four down the alley - can you get a look Meeristali? Anything up there Hasjo?"

He had went to check it out, lagging just behind @[member="Hasjo Hallu"], but it seemed the Nautolan had gotten there first, and as such, he hung back. There was no sense in sending in more bodies than was truly necessary. He kept his ears open, eyes watchful, and senses alive monitoring the vicinity. As a freshly minted padawan, his reach was not fantastic, but it did enough to keep a measure of the four who were nothing more than deathstick addicts in the end, as his green-skinned teammate has said, before speeding off again. On the matter of Hallu, after monitoring the communiqués between him and the two knights, as well as the building experience of being in contact with the Nautolan, the Felacatian had his own opinions, most of which were not productive to voice. If there was one thing the military cemented in your mind, it was when to speak, and when to keep your trap shut.

He puttered over to @[member="Asaak Tey"] on his landspeeder, and flicked her a look. No sense in getting her over the comms when she was right there. She was someone whose acquaintance he had already made long before this mission, and he appreciated her company. That was more than he could say for their green-skinned peer.

"Let's catch up to Mister 'Antz-in-his-trousers', before he smacks into a building in the rush to do everything himself, ne?" Stali said in an encouraging lilt, letting in a light bit of the purr into his 'r's. He flashed the Togruta a grin, gently spiked a rev in his landspeeder, and took off after Hallu before the high-and-mighty go-getter bumped out of sight entirely.

She watched as Hasjo made quick work of catching up with and confronting the group in the alley. She frowned when it was revealed that they were deathstick addicts and seemingly had nothing to do with the slavers they were looking for, but she didn't let it distract her. She was just brushing off her very mysterious and uncharacteristic misreading of the Force and her Underworld experience when Meeristali appeared next to her. She gave the Felacatian a small smile when she heard his comment, familiar with his sense of humor. She'd met him before and was very happy to have him along - she know him to be strong, smart, and most importantly, he was an excellent member of a team. She could trust him with her life, as she would protect his.

She just nodded, taking off after him through the alleys and crossways, still slow enough to notice anything without appearing slow enough to make it obvious she was doing so.

It was another two or three minutes of skimming through the city, the landspeeder pushing garbage to either side as she flew by, when running lights caught her eye off to the left. She signaled to Meeristali, pointing down in the direction she'd glimpsed, before comming over to Hasjo. "Looks like your ships might be off to the left Hasjo." She turned down the alley, getting as close as she could and catching a glimpse of multiple people ghosting around the ships. She commed over to Flint & Vulpesen, her voice quiet. "Think we've got something."

Deathstick addicts. Coruscant was full of them. While Flint would be more than happy to correct their addiction if he had the leisure to do so, they had to prevent the shipment of slaves within the next half hour that they had left before the slave transport departed.

"Think we've got something." Flint heard Padawan Tey's comments over the com, and he immediately turned his speeder to head towards her direction. Vulpesen and Hallu would easily take care of some addicts, quickly, Flint was sure of that. He hoped Peradun would come with them to check out if Tey had truly found the shipment of slaves, but it was the padawan's choice.

"I'm headed to your location, Padawan Tey." Flint announced. And within a few minutes, Flint was there observing the crowd of people there. It was definitely suspicious. "Try to use the Force to detect what these people are doing." he instructed Tey.
