Coruscant Underworld

Even in the capital planet of the Republic, slaves were brought, sold, and shipped off. Illegally, ofcourse. So whenever authorities were given hints toward possible slave trade happening, they attempted to stop it. This particular mission had been assigned to the group of Jedi due to the fact that this particular assignment had been deemed to be too advanced for the local Coruscant police to handle. Hopefully the Jedi were up to the task.

"And this, is the location that we suspect the slaves are currently being loaded up onto some ship to be shipped off the planet. Our job is to intervene and prevent this shipment of slaves from leaving Coruscant." Flint informed the other Jedi, holding up his datapad for everyone to see. "We've been informed that these slavers are armed heavily, as they're expecting the police to try and stop them." the Jedi Knight continued to explain as the Republic transport they were onboard descended to the lower levels of Coruscant.

"We've got just under five minutes before we land. Any questions?"

"How many slaves, and slavers?" Hasjo asked, clasping his hands behind his back in the Jedi sign of neutrality. He was gathered in the thick, brown woollen Jedi cloak. Hood drawn up over the large green tendrils that snaked down from his scalp. His great, black, beady eyes studied Dexen for a moment. "Might I also suggest we break into two squadrons? There are four of us attending. Teams of two. We could flank the enemy. Catch them by surprise. It will be our greatest ally if we were to utilise this strategy" Hasjo continued. Nodding to Flint to inform him he had finished.

[Vulpesen]

Vulpesen grinned and looked at Dexen, relaxing in his seat as Ace sat on his shoulder. This was gonna be fun. Slavery was a rather sore spot for Vulpesen. He never experienced it, and he had never been affected by it, but it was still an abomination in his eyes. "Sure I've got a question. Are slavers our only concern?" Sure, he hated slavery, but he enjoyed a challenge. So far, his experiences with non-force users had been fairly disappointing. "Also, do you think you can keep up old friend?" Ever since their duel as padawan leaners, Vulpesen had felt a small sense of friendly rivalry towards Flint. He wasn't sure if Flint felt the same way, but for him, it was good to have a goal.

Asaak nodded as Flint explained the information he had on the datapad. She flexed her fingers at the news that the slavers were armed heavily, letting them float over the hilt of her lightsaber. As always before a mission she had her legs tucked up under her, resting her elbows on her knees, having used the first few minutes of the transport to center herself and connect with the Force for calm. But that time was decidedly over with only five minutes to go until they reached their destination. The objective also held a special place in her heart. Spending a few years living in Coruscant's underworld made her no stranger to the idea that even Republic space was not safe from slavery, and she was eager to do her part in stopping one more ship from taking people to their chains.

She turned her head when she heard Hasjo speak. She hadn't had the chance to work with him personally but had heard he was already very active in the Order, always willing to help out. Surprise was a good suggestion. "Surprise will work if we feel we can move quickly when we see the situation - if they are expecting the police to stop them they'll be on guard. It'll be hard to sneak up on them."

She hoped her time living in the Underworld would be an asset to the mission - she was used to it's nooks and crannies and the best ways to get around.

"Surprise will work if we feel we can move quickly when we see the situation - if they are expecting the police to stop them they'll be on guard. It'll be hard to sneak up on them."
Hasjo interjected firmly "You're right. They expecting the police." he placed emphasis on the word. He continued "They're not expecting Jedi. We still hold the advantage here. The police would come in force, and we're few in number." He stepped forward, unclasping his palms and moving his hands as he spoke, showing his importance of what he said "If they catch one of the teams, use them to distract them while the other catches them unawares from behind. It's a basic and old tactic but has proven useful time and time again throughout history. We should take this slowly, wisely and quietly." He returned his hands to clasp them once again. Holding a firm stance of obedience. This was not his mission to lead, but he believed he still had the right to suggest a course of action. Hasjo was not one for stealth, nor his use in the Force. It was largely evident alone by the way he stood. Rigid, steadfast. His body rippled with thick and powerful muscles. He was an aggressive combatant. Overpowering opponents defences in seconds with devastatingly vigorous attacks. What he had in strength and attack, he lacked in endurance and defence. In a prolonged fight, his defence could be easily overwhelmed and crumbled.

"Excellent suggestions, Padawan Hallu and Tey." Flint commented from what they had said. It was good that they were thinking strategies out, those were characteristics Flint valued, especially for padawans on their way to becoming Jedi Knights. "Wisely and quietly, I like that. But as Asaak pointed out, they're very much on guard, they're expecting the police after all. They understand the risks that they face." Flint informed, then decided to answer the question that Hasjo had first asked. "There isn't an exact number of slavers and slaves, although its estimated to be around two dozen slaves and perhaps even more slavers. We must be cautious." he informed.

Two minutes before arrival, Flint noted. "Slavers are indeed our primary concern at the moment. It is absolutely essential that we arrest them." he then said in response to Vulpesen. "I repeat, arrest them, not kill them." the Jedi Knight said again, loud enough for everyone to hear. "Oh, and its you, who should be worried about keeping up, Vulpesen." Flint remarked with a friendly smirk.

"As Padawan Hallu has suggested, we'll divide up into teams. I want you padawans to go disarm the slavers. Make sure that the slaves do not get hurt. You can try to take out the ships to prevent them from leaving, if you can. Vulpesen and I will handle arresting the disarmed slavers. Alright, we've got just one minute now, anything else?"

She nodded when Hasjo responded to her opinion, more than seeing his point. She hoped that he knew she wasn't speaking her mind to contradict him or dismiss his ideas - she had never worked with him before but had heard only good things of him. Flint's approval of other Padawan's suggestion only proved that. It seemed tensions within the Order had been running high lately and Asaak had no wish to step on any toes. She offered the Nautolan a small smile so that he might understand she was only attempting to contribute her own ideas.

Her mind immediately raced when Knight Flint mentioned the estimated number of slavers, and sped up even more when he paired her and Hasjo together to disarm them. She could not truly plan until she saw the situation but already she was brainstorming a mile a minute as to the most quick and efficient way to get the job done. There were lives at stake, whole futures of people bound in chains.

She pushed herself off the bench she'd been sitting cross-legged on to stand next to Hasjo so that she'd be ready when the ship touched down. She shook her head when Flint asked if there were any more questions. "I lived down here in the Underworld for a few years, picked up some things - I'm quick work at disabling a ship if I get the chance along the way, as long as it's nothing too exotic." It wasn't a skill she was necessarily proud of, but she had lived through some hard times in the city's underworld and if she could use her skills for a better reason now, there was no reason not to. She gave Hasjo a nod and a little smile as she felt the ship's repulsor lifts going off to regulate their descent, releasing any nerves to the Force and centering her thoughts.

He saw her faint smile and returned his own half-grin he was so used to doing. He turned to listen to Flint, quietly nodding to him in thanks for his praise.

When Hasjo heard those words, he turned to Asaak with that same half-grin. He looked into her eyes as if to say 'This will be interesting'
"I lived down here in the Underworld for a few years, picked up some things - I'm quick work at disabling a ship if I get the chance along the way, as long as it's nothing too exotic."
He nodded with approval, adding onto her statement "It would be the best course of action to disable those ships first. If they don't have any ships to leave in, none will escape lest they flee on foot. And they can't run forever. I can take out any slavers near the ship while you disable them. If they escape, I can send out a communication link to R9. He's with my Delta-7 in the airport with the other star fighters. He can get us some vehicles." He then gave a quick look around "I'm a far better pilot than rogue, I should add." Well, at least Hasjo himself considered this mission to be roguish in nature. Lurking in the underworld, quietly disabling slaver ships and pouncing on them in their confusion. He was so used to an open and upfront confrontation that the thought of doing this type of mission was alien in nature.

[Vulpesen]

"Well then, I suggest we get ready to drop in and bust these guys. To a reasonable extent of course." Alright, so maybe he was a bit fond of putting daggers in the legs of those who challenged him. But, that didn't mean he couldn't restrain himself. He was after all, a jedi and he did prefer not to kill. Maiming stopped escapes and left them alive to talk. Killing left you with zero intel. He was rather glad to have these people with him. Each had their skill sets and though they seemed a bit inexperienced, they would work. Besides, Vulpesen had been quite a bit like them when he started so he certainly wasn't about to underestimate a few padawans just because of their titles.

[Meeristali Peradun]

He had said nothing for the whole trip, content to allow the others to offer their input, and thus far it had all come across as sound and well-thought out. However, the fact of the matter that @[member="Flint Dexen"] had to emphasize that they disarm and not kill told him things. That some, perhaps, were a little of what was known as 'trigger happy' in his life, up until recently. He tugged at the robes, which were comfortably loose, but still looser than his old uniform. At the very least, they did not look slovenly, and his decently close-cut hair gave the particular air of his past that he could not, and would not go out of his way to escape.

"I can disarm quite easily." He said, his vibrant orange eyes moving from Flint, to @[member="Vulpesen"], @[member="Hasjo Hallu"], and @[member="Asaak Tey"], in turn. "And if there is any fleeing on their part, giving chase is not an issue. I am built for such things."

His tail slinked around him, the end of it coming to rest in his lap, where his hands sat in a relaxed state, as well. The look on his face was one with a thin line for a mouth, and stark clarity in his eyes. This was the visage of business.

"Don't put too much faith in expecting things to go as you have thought they will go. You may believe you have considered every eventuality, but be prepared for the unexpected." Meeristali shifted in his seat, adjusting his position to sit up straight, as he gave his input from experience in the field. "Don't underestimate your opponent, as it were, and though I haven't heard any speech that raises issues to my ears, keep your attitude in check. Overconfidence kills. They may 'just' be slavers, but I have seen a blaster bolts go in the heads of the powerful, and knives in their bellies from those considered less than them, by their eyes. I have seen young recruits have their lives cut short."

He settled back into his seat, just as the familiar, normal jolt of landing shot through the vessel.

"That being said, happy hunting," he said, this time with the barest upturn of the corners of his lips, as the craft settled. Stali pushed himself up from the bench, straightening out his robes. He had not yet taken up the lightsaber, but he did carry his standard-issue sidearm, having gotten away with taking it with him when he left Felacat. He patted the holster at his right thigh, and his mouth reassumed thin line it had been before, as he looked to the exit.

Flint gave a smile to his fellow Jedi around him. They all seemed to be more than ready to take on this mission, and that was good. With a shudder, their Baldr-class transport landed on a docking bay, on one of the levels of the Coruscant Underworld. The Jedi Knight despised this place. It was full of criminals, pirates, slavers, and any other types of villains and scum that the Galaxy held. The Jedi would now have to make sure to watch their backs. Danger was everywhere in the underworld of Coruscant.

"Alright, lets get going." Flint announced, motioning for his Jedi comrades to get off the transport. The smell of heavy industrial pollution would greet the group of Jedi as they got off. They had landed at a rather remote docking bay, and from where they were they could hear the music from local clubs and bars nearby. "From what we know, the slavers have their headquarters nearby." he began.

The Jedi Knight then pressed a button, and bike racks descended down from the transport's hangar, each rack holding a Ubrikkian Q3-R Landspeeder for the Jedi to use. "We'll have to search for the slavers' headquarters, they'll be somewhere around here. Everyone knows how to fly these?" he inquired casually, climbing onboard one of the speeders. Once everyone was on their speeders, the mission would truly begin.

"Everyone knows how to fly these?" [member="Flint Dexen"] asked as the landspeeders descended. Hasjo smirked "If I can fly a starfighter, I'm sure I can manage a land speeder." He walked over to the vehicle and climbed into the comfortable seat. He placed his foot by the accelerator and swiped a hand along the dashboard. A holographic display burst to life, utilising the front and back cameras of the vessel. It had no windscreen, his eyes relied on the hologram before him. It felt like playing one of the children's games he used to play when he was a lot younger. Though this wasn't a fake landspeeder, this was the real deal. One slip up and you could snap your neck. He reached up, gripping the wide-set joysticks that hung from the roof. He then buzzed into his communications link "R9, keep the channel open. I want my ship to be ready if needed. Though I don't think I'll be needing it." He thumbed the ignition. The speeder roared to life. He glanced over his shoulder to Flint "And my last suggestion, Knight Dexen. Who is the leader of the Padawan squadron? We'll need one assigned"

She had met Meeristali once before back at the Temple and knew him to be a military man. It only made sense that he dropped the advice he did, and as a former Underworld resident she could attest to it's truth. Nothing about the city went as one would expect, and being concious of such shifting possibilities was the key to adapting and workign with them.


She nodded at @[member="Hasjo Hallu"], thinking the plan made sense. "Sounds like a plan. With you covering, I can get it done before any of them has a chance to communicate effectively and warn those further from the ships." Then the Padawans would be free to disarm the rest to their heart's content.


When the group hopped off the transport Asaak felt - in a sense - like she was home. The Temple was her true home now and she never wanted to leave but the Underworld held a familiarity. Not a pleasant one, but she knew it well. On a planet like Coruscant it was impossible to be familiar with every sector, but most of them held true to the same hard and fast rules both in design and mannerisms. If it came down to sneaking around unseen to get close to the headquarters, she was the girl for the job. She knew how to blend in.


When she saw the landspeeders she felt a thrill of both satisfaction and trepidation. Satisfaction because, even if she'd never flown a ship before, landspeeders were familiar though this one looked more well-equipped than those she had gotten her hands on in the Underworld. Trepidation because....was she even tall enough to drive it? She could just see herself climbing inside and unable to reach the handles, imagining Moroi laughing at her short little frame struggling for the pedals. Thankfully that wasn't the case as she hauled herself inside and set to work pulling up the dash after a subtle check to make sure she could, in fact, reach. After a he did a quick once over of the cameras used and familiarized herself with the view from them, she looked to @[member="Flint Dexen"]. "I'm good to go."

Vulpesen grinned and hopped onto one the the speeders. As his hands flew around to bring up the display, he took a moment t get used to the feel. "I generally prefer things that can care if I'm about to run them into a tree, but I can ride." He was a beast tamer form Amar. Of course he was going to prefer using a living mount to a machine. Still, he was ready to move and was already staring to move into position by Flint. Calling Ace into his pocket, the shadow held one last question. "Shall we go on?"

Flint gave a satisfied smile as his fellow Jedi got on their speeders with ease. They had all flown these speeders one time or another, and for some padawans, this could be a relatively new, and thus valuable, experience in riding on them.

He glanced over at Padawan Hallu when the padawan asked for a leader to be assigned for the padawan squadron. "Padawan Tey, you may lead the padawan squadron on this mission. It seems you have experience down in the Coruscant Underworld." Flint said at the padawans. He then nodded to Vulpesen's inquiry. "Yep, lets roll." And with that, the Jedi sped away on the speeder, hopefully with others behind him.

"Tey, Hallu, and Peradun, take the east side of this district. Report through comlinks if you see any suspicious activity of possible slaves or slavers. Vulpesen and I wll take the west side. Remember to keep your communications open, we'll regroup in ten minutes."

Hasjo nodded in understanding. He rested his boot against the accelerator. He pushed his foot down, and the land speeder shot forward with great haste. The engine roaring as it propelled onward. He could feel the wind blowing against his tendrils. His thick, green lips broke into a fat smile. He twisted the duel joysticks, sending the land speeder into a hard left turn. He was racing down back streets. Darkness on all sides. The only light was that of the hologram before him, and the headlights he had turned on. Shady figures slept on the pavements, homeless. Others stood conversing in alleyways and around barrels lit aflame, keeping warm.
He glanced over his shoulder and out the side of the vehicle, checking to see if the others were taking the eastern route he had.

Asaak nodded at @[member="Flint Dexen"] when he assigned rolls, powering the landspeeder and feeling it gun underneath her. With a shot it seemed the Knights were off to patrol, Flint's instructions coming clear over the commlink. She could get used to one of these, and she hadn't even taken off yet.


@[member="Hasjo Hallu"] however, seemed to have the right idea. With a quick glance at @[member="Meeristali Peradun"], Asaak took off after Hasjo, sinking in to the seedy underbelly of the city. It took all kinds, and that was never more evident than the Underworld. Asaak did not go quite as fast as Hasjo, part out of incomplete familiarity with the landspeeder and part out of the desire to get a good look at those milling around. If these slavers knew what they were doing at all - and they had some "courage" trying to move any decent amount of slaves out of Coruscant, of all places - they would be subtle, unwilling to draw attention to their dealings. She feared the subtlety of their acting would go easily missed if she sped by at breakneck speeds...though Force knew she'd love to be screaming around corners in the Landspeeder.


However, when she used to live down there she hadn't known how to use the Force to her advantage. When she saw a group walking together, about four though she couldn't tell species or gender from underneath their cloaks, it was not only her instincts that made her sharpen her attention, but the most subtle hint in the Force. If it gave her any distinct signals she was not yet skilled enough to read them but it still made her pay closer attention. They were heading down an alleyway, heads down and shuffling. It was something about that shuffling...they had almost perfected a proper Coruscanti "I don't give a kriff" attitude, but it was too fast. With a quick motion she called Hasjo & Meeristali on her commlink. "Got something here you guys. Four down the alley - can you get a look Meeristali? Anything up there Hasjo?" She didn't want to turn around and alert the group to watchers, hoping Meeristali was behind her to get a second look.


She patched over to Flint & @[member="Vulpesen"]. "Group of four, heading down an alley. Cloaks, hoods pulled up. They're heading to the west, though might be too slow to cross paths with you. I couldn't see where they came from, but there's something about them."

A voice broke over the comm. "Got something here you guys. Four down the alley - can you get a look Meeristali? Anything up there Hasjo?"
"One second" Hasjo said, he suddenly pulled hard on the joysticks and the vehicle began to raise further off the ground. Soon it was flying over buildings. He spun the land speeder around, taking an aerial view. They weren't designed for high-altitude flying, and this was near the maximum flying height a land speeder could go. The engine was grumbling through the strain to maintain the height. He reduced his speed and sat hovering in the air. He reached over his shoulder, unbuckling himself to stand on the edge of the vehicle, glancing down. The cameras were doing a poor job of it, so he decided he would use his own eyes.
"I'm not seeing anything. I'm thinking the best course of action is to find the ships rather than individuals. There aren't too many ships down here, and if they're transporting slaves. I'm confident they'll need a transport and something to defend their valuable cargo." Hasjo patched back to her, hand to his ear. He slid back into the cockpit and buckled the harness over his chest. He gripped the controls and floored the accelerator, performing a descent back onto the city streets.

Vulpesen grinned as the report buzzed over his comlink. "Alright, show time. Flint you keep goin, I think four men are enough for me to handle." Turning his speeder, Vulpesen slightly altered his direction, making sure to keep himself on track to the four men while seeking them through the force. It was nearly impossible through the massive crowd of Coruscant but considering how close they would be, it was fairly easy to figure out which group of lights in the force were theirs. Often times, it was much better to stay at home and watch old romantix holovids than to go out as a criminal. This was one of those times.

Flint was proud of the apprentices, they were doing a good job at this. The Jedi Knight heard the words spoken over their communication, but he chose not to directly interfere in the conversation. This was, after all, a good way for the apprentices to learn and gain experience.

"Vulpesen, only handle this situation if things go aggressively. Otherwise, I want to see how the apprentices handle this." Flint commented, before continuing forward while Vulpesen changed course.
