  • Point defence laser turrets
  • Internal security measures include a garrison, automated defences, ray shields, heavy blast doors, airlock traps etc.
  • Ablative Armour
  • E-War Protection
Hangar Space: It is a civilian station, so it cannot hold squadrons of starfighters or other armed craft. However, it features numerous docking bays, berthings, mooring tethers, and docking clamps to accommodate visiting ships of varying size.
Maneuverability Rating: Low
Speed Rating: Low
Hyperdrive: Yes.
Hyperdrive Class: 0.25. Backup is 6.0.

STANDARD FEATURES
  • All standard features. The station comes fully equipped with the whole standard array of shields, systems and components that are normally associated with vessels of this size and class.
ADVANCED SYSTEMS
STRENGTHS
  • Heavily armoured.
  • Shadowport. Port Maw is a haven with all the amenities unsavoury individuals require to do business, lie low or entertain themselves. Moreover, it features top-notch communications equipment and is virtually self-sufficient.
  • A Crystal Gravfield Trap and an HIMS can enable Port Maw to detect certain types of cloaked ships and travel through interdiction fields.
  • Unusually fast hyperdrive.
WEAKNESSES
  • Unarmed. Port Maw can take a severe beating, but while it can weather a bombardment, it lacks the ability to dish out.
  • The hyperdrive has a long cooldown period, namely one hour between jumps. This can become a problem.
  • As a civilian space station, Port Maw does not carry attack craft.
  • It is as fast as a brick.
  • And about as manoeuvrable.
DESCRIPTION

Port Maw used to be called the Venture Mining Station. Once it was populated by survivors of the Dark Age, who eventually died off or left as resources ran low. Enyo discovered it in pretty pristine condition due to lack of air, with many dead survivors still aboard. She wasted no time repurposing it for her needs. The mobile, hollowed asteroid serves as a hub for the more illicit side of her business enterprises.

Officially, Archangel has no association with it, though its HRDs have been seeded across the station. There are few things that cannot be purchased on Port Maw - for the right price. Enyo lives a monastic life style, but she has come to understand how profitable catering to organic vices can be. For her Port Maw is a good way to acquire information, money and beings to process.

There are laboratories, workshops, alchemy shops, swoop race tracks, casinos, clubs of dubious repute and so on. The heart of Port Maw is a large, labyrinthian bazaar. Moreover, it features residential areas, providing permanent or temporary homes for individuals who can pay the price. Enyo has reserved accommodations for herself and her family. It is an open secret among her siblings that Enyo spies on them - and that the most luxurious apartments have the most bugs and hidden cameras. Enyo's more genre-savvy subordinates turn down the luxurious villa in favour of something more humble. Enyo's own quarters are extremely Spartan and thoroughly lacking in creature comforts.

The place is a hub for the trade in goods both illicit and legal. Examples would be narcotics, dark side relics, weapons and experimental nanotechnology. The station features extensive docking bays, dry docks and so on in order to accommodate and repair visiting ships. For a price, ships that have taken a beating in combat can be refitted and repaired or be given a wholly new identity. Captains who have made arrangements with Port Maw's enigmatic owner and invested in her ventures benefit from reduced fees.

It is a haven for criminals, buccaneers, rogue Force-Users, mad scientists and other unsavoury individuals. It's a good place for Force-Users who are of a darker persuasion to meet, trade, train or just lie low because they've crossed the powers that be. But the law on Port Maw is not one of anarchy, but cold, mechanical efficiency. Troublemakers are disposed of swiftly...or return after a brief absence. In the case of the latter they come back more mechanical and with a far more cooperative attitude. It is as if they have become a different person. Enyo uses her paramilitary forces, consisting of droids, cyborgs and Kraal mercenaries, to keep order.

Her rules are quite simple. The place functions as neutral territory that allows criminals to get a safe haven, make deals and money or simply indulge in the various forms of entertainment. Provided a visitor does not cause a ruckus, they can spend their entire time on Port Maw without ever being troubled by the cyborg's minions. Naturally there are fees - on profits, protection and rent etc. But Enyo does not overtax her clients because that is inefficient. The presence of HRDs in leading positions helps keeps her organic minions honest since droids cannot be bribed.

However, anyone who upsets the peace or plots against her is dealt with ruthlessly...as well as anyone who follows them. And there is surveillance throughout the station. Enyo has gone so far to secretly place HRDs among innocuous members of the staff. A dancer, courtesan, handyman or waiter might actually be an assassin droid. A fussy protocol droid or innocuous mouse droid might be a spy. Visitors who help her eliminate troublemakers benefit from special services or having their fees reduced to pocket change. This incentivises cooperation by leveraging greed. Enyo is a big fan of recycling, so Port Maw features molecular furnaces, solid fuel converters and the like. Sometimes unruly people are recycled, too.

In keeping with Enyo's design philosophy, the station has a powerful droid brain. The Unity Processing Matrix uses a modified entechment process that avoids the usual pitfalls associated with entechment, such as keeping unstable organics in a state of constant agony. Instead the organics are killed, then their essence is rendered down and converted into a part of an elaborate computer system. This is not an AI, as it lacks any form of independence, it allows multiple organics to be forged into a single powerful piece of technology. When plugged into a spaceship or station, as is the case here, the Unity acts as a powerful droid brain. The machine has a superior ability to handle advanced calculations, predictions and tactical situations.

This results in improvements in areas such as power distribution, calculation of hyperspace jumps etc. Moreover, automations keeps down crew size requirements. Port Maw features powerful communication systems that allow it to encrypt and transmit messages over vast distances. It also has devices that allow it to detect many cloaked ships or receive some form of early warning. Port Maw features Anti-Ion Emission Tracers to prevent its hyperspace travel from being tracked and a Hyperwave Inertial Momentum Sustainer to allow it to travel through interdiction fields and gravity wells.

Organic inhabitants need food, and relying on a supply line is inefficient. So the Port has advanced biodomes. These are mostly automated and run by droids. Thus the station is largely self-sufficient. Similarly, the life support system is decentralised, with every level having its own. This makes it more difficult to conduct sabotage. As a civilian station, Port Maw lacks armaments. It can weather a bombardment, but not respond in kind. However, the station is always guarded by warships and escorts.

Enyo Typhos Enyo Typhos - I'll need you to add the HIMS and Crystal Gravfield Trap to your Strengths section, as countering Interdiction fields and detecting cloaked vessels are worthy enough to warrant them being listed there.

Please @mention me when you've made the edits.

Enyo Typhos Enyo Typhos - Indeed. However, because of how that strength was and is written - I'll be approving this with a word of caution. The stronger the interdiction field, the less likely the HIMS will see this station travelling through that affected section of space with any ease. If abused, there is a chance this submission could be pulled for further review.

Thank you for your edits, all the same.
