DESCRIPTION

Utilizing schematics recovered from the Sith Installation at Styx, the Poggle-class Escort Carrier was designed by the engineers of Druckenwell Shipyards to act as an excellent means of delivering troops and starfighter support to various theatres of combat. As a whole, the vessel epitomizes the durability that traditionally comes with construction at Druckenwell Shipyards, for the design team constructs its hull in a very particular manner. This construction consists, first and foremost, of utilizing an alloy composed of Durasteel, Turadium, and Quadranium in order to form a thick, durable frame and hull plating. As they are composed of a combination of durable materials, the vessel can withstand an impressive sum of punishment in the event of a shield droppage.

Durability was of immense importance in constructing the vessel, not only in order to keep it functioning on the field of battle longer, but due to the fact that it serves in a vital support capacity. More often than not, it is deployed alongside larger vessels of the Confederate Navy in order to perform swarm warfare in terms of its starfighter compliment; which intentionally trades out size, armaments, and non-combative attachments in order to carry more. All in all, the Poggle-class Escort Carrier is an excellent addition to the naval forces of the Confederacy.

Still reading your dev thread, but there are several issues (some of them nit-picks) I'll launch into right away.

  • That ship image is in use by the Protectorate for their carrier.
  • Please group your guns together by size type, makes it so much easier to see them all as groups.
  • Your dev thread says you found the schematics but your description doesn't mention this, instead claiming to be designed by Drukenwell Yards.
  • The description says very little about the ship, just that it uses your alloy and is immensely durable. It actually sounds more like the armoring you'd find on an assault ship rather than a support vessel.
  • I would recommend a droid fighter control center be added to your non combat attachments. On that note, why the advanced targeting?
  • How many drop pods does this carry?
  • How is the hanger modular? If it's just minor load-out variances like for PC ships this doesn't need to be mentioned.

I'm also going to say that this ship feels very min/max in its stats. Minimal size for its category, max number of guns, max allowed ships, fastest back-up drives allowed, heavy armor and advanced shielding. Individually or in pairs they aren't not big issues but once you add them up...

Well, let's get this show on the road:
  • Image has been changed. Hoping to Christ this one isn't in use somewhere. XD
  • You're poking my OCD with a stick, but the guns have been re-arranged.
  • Mention of the retrieval of the schematics has been added.
  • The ship is a simple escort carrier. Not a ton to say about it. The alloy in use is the CIS standard, it's been utilized in every ship submission I've put through the factory thus far.
  • A Droid Control Center would be much more of a liability to the ship. I'd prefer to simply rely upon the droid brain's programming, for as the movies have shown, the ship's destruction would result in the droids being shut down.
  • I chose the number 30 based upon the number of drop pods found here. Divided the number of pods by the ship length, then multiplied by the Poggle's length to get a scaled number. Precedent and all that joy.
  • The hangar modularity was with PC's in mind, edited accordingly.
As aforementioned, the scope of the ship is a simple escort carrier. I kept it small and durable so that it can effectively ferry its sub-par fighters to/from the various theatres of combat.

@Domino

Your pods carry 880 over your 2000 passenger limit, and you're saying that one of your pods which carry 96 is equal to the AE pod that carries one, apples and oranges.
The fact is that this is far above a simple escort carrier in capability and is still min/maxing, yes there's a range of length in which guns are acceptable, but at the low end of that things should be taken off otherwise there's be no point in ever making a larger ship for the class and thus reducing the number of ships you can cram into event fleets controlled by total length. Again, this ship is being 100% the best it possibly can be with no drawbacks, limiting factors, or reasons why.

-Please do not claim to have a disease that compels you to preform certain actions obsessively, its rude to those that do have it messing with their entire life. We like things tidy and organized, that's it.

  • The Drop Pod number has been adjusted accordingly. 20 Drop Pods equates to 1,920 of the Passenger Capacity.
  • I am simply abiding by the Starship Template, which states that a ship of this length/classification can have armaments/hangar matching what I have posted.
