SPECIAL FEATURES
STRENGTHS
  • Speed Demon: Modified, stripped-down, and optimized for racing, the Phase II “Nike” Racing Swoop Craft is fast, not only in a straight, but also when negotiating tight corners and hard bends.
  • Moon Walk: As a racing swoop, the Phase II is optimized to handle tight turns with the grace of a dancer and the aggressive speed of a hornet. A skilled rider can maneuver the machine around a course with extreme speed, setting a brutal pace for their opponents which is likely to see them finish the race embarrassingly far behind the Nike.
WEAKNESSES
  • Difficult to Ride: Like its earlier prototype, the Phase II is very difficult to ride. An unpracticed rider can easily lose control of the craft when negotiating turns. Putting the power down too early out of a corner or going into a corner while carrying too much speed may lead to an accident, putting the rider at risk of suffering a severe injury or even death, while doubtlessly dashing their hopes for a strong result in a race. Furthermore, the Nike requires that the rider adopt an aggressive “sport posture” riding position, whereas other swoop bikes can be ridden in a more comfortable feet-forward position.
  • Rider Conditioning: Riding the Nike is an exercise in and of itself. The bike handles best when it is leaned into corners, and as such, a strong and physically fit rider is necessary in order to get the most out of the machine. Nevertheless, even with a strong rider, controlling the Nike is an exhausting workout, especially over the course of long endurance races.
  • Ion Afterburn: In order to protect the integrity of its engine and reaction system, the Nike’s ion afterburners can only be maintained for ten consecutive seconds. In addition, they will also compromise the craft’s maneuverability, and as such, it is only recommended to be utilized on straights in order to gain a boost in speed and acceleration.
  • Garage Queen: Like most dedicated racing machines, the Phase II is a garage queen, demanding hours of maintenance and upkeep in between races. Many parts of the craft must be replaced after every race or track day session, including the air brakes, the tobal lenses within the reaction core, and other crucial components. Upkeep is also very expensive, but for many racers, price is not necessarily an issue.
DESCRIPTION
The Phase II “Nike” Racing Swoop Craft is the racing-optimized model of a rejected prototype design. Manufactured by First United Astral Engineering, the Phase II is a racer in function and form, possessing a sleek and aerodynamic design that allows it to reach and maintain extreme speeds with excellent efficiency. For propulsion, it primarily utilizes a powerful turbo ion jet drive which is energized by an exotic sleg-quintessence reaction core, the output of which is further amplified with a brace of kyber focusing crystals.

All in all, the Phase II “Nike” Racing Swoop Craft is a performance monster, which the engineers and designers have high hopes for in the galactic swoop racing circuit.
