Location: aboard the
Gray Queen's Throne in deep space.
The Gray Lady silently stood beside Sasmay as they cruised through the scene of space before them. The biological woman had been quiet, hand rubbing the eyepatch that covered the missing left eye. The crew worked around the pair, the twi'lek Vella stood beside them on the left.
The AI glanced to the twi'lek, the woman looking back before looking to their captain. Vella had been perusing the galaxy for work after her dismissal from the Agents Armada. The twi'lek chewed her lip and glanced between them for a final time. The Gray Lady slid in front of the chair with an annoyed roll of her eyes.
The spacers outfit she had decided on came into the singular spot of vision Sasmay had. Her eye stinged, the phantom eye also feeling it though failing to produce anything more than the feeling. Her hand rubbed the remaining eye, pushing away the feelings she was still working through as the red eyes of the AI popped into view.
"There is a message waiting for you. Private, and highly secured. Would you like to hear it?" Gray spoke, returning to her place on the right as Sasmay looked out to the stars. A long pause of thought was cut into by a sharp nod, hand moving to brace her as she leaned in the seat and listened.
The message relayed, Vella and the AI waited patiently for the reply from the new captain. It was tantalizing, taking the chance of a party to think of something else for a while. Her foot bobbed, needing the movement to keep her thoughts in line as she took a deep breath and waved a hand.
"Punch in the coordinates and take us there." She finally commanded, get a nod from the Gray Lady as Vella grimaced. The captain stood, exaggerated effort at removing herself from the chair before pointing to Vella and speaking.
"Vell has the bridge. Let me know when we get close. Send our response back. Put that dot on the visual system...or whatever can handle it." She waved before the doors closed behind her. Vella watched with concern, but said nothing as she assumed command. She'd done this before, but now it was a singular vessel without support. They were alone, but also not by the message they had received. A coalition of sorts.
She was leary about joining such a ragtag group, or even making contact with them. But orders were orders. She confirmed the location with Gray before the ship jumped to hyperspace. Vella stared into the void, contemplating as she kept track of their arrival.
Elsewhere
Sasmay walked through the corridors, the captains quarters suddenly much further away than she had realized or remembered it being. Her hadn traced along the wall, gaging the distance between herself and the walls with that simple gesture.
It was still taking some adjusting to. The missing eye throwing off her perception as she finally reached the door to her quarters. Her armor was set aside, dropping her hair out of its careful wrapping of the tight bun. There was a soft sweep of her fingers through the length of it, admiring the growth in the time that Domino had taken her leave.
The shift in her eye color had been a slow process. The brown slowly shifting to a crisp cinnamon color before settling finally with this final shift in her lifestyle. She dressed and checked her left eye, cleaning the spot before changing into something a bit more party appropriate. The ship shuddered before dropping back into real space with a confirmation signal sent to the hosting vessel.
The docking complete, Vella and Gray watched Sasmay depart, greeted by those waiting as she made her way towards the the impromptu club that existed in the ship.
She stood in the doorway long enough to find the bar, headed directly for a drink before anything else.
