PRODUCTION INFORMATION
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
  • Classification: Orbital Defense Platform
  • Length: 210 metres
  • Width: 70 metres
  • Height: 70 metres
  • Armament: Extreme
  • Defences: High
  • Hangar Space: Very High | 3 Squadrons
  • Hangar Allocations: The Paragon-class can hold up to three squadrons of Starfighters, which it may exchange for Support Craft. Ashwing Security Drones are the standard choice for a defensive complement; scout ships are more common if used for border security.
  • Manoeuvrability Rating: Very Low
  • Speed Rating: None
  • Hyperdrive: None.
STANDARD FEATURES
  • The Paragon-class is outfitted with all the features and facilities one would expect from a station of its size and purpose, among these:
    • Neurocrown Compatability
    • Standard Docking Ports
    • Standard Escape Pods
    • Standard Automation
    • Standard ECM
ADVANCED SYSTEMS
  • The Paragon-class is exclusively armed with Nizros-pattern Starlances. These exotic energy weapons are able to fire to destroy, to stun, or to interfere with technology; they can fire individually as point defence or focus their power together for anti-capital duty. At maximum power, the combined Starlances represent very significant firepower at the expense of a long charging time and a lack of point defence. Alternatively, the station can retain some point defence at the expense of a throttled charging speed - significantly reducing its anti-capital potential.
  • The Paragon-class is compatible with a Pseudointerdictor or a Short-Range Gravity Well Projector; only one can be supported.
  • The Paragon-class has sufficient comms/sensors to serve as a local command centre or orbit/border monitoring station.
  • The Paragon-class is outfitted with Missile Deactivation Transmitters* and an Orbital Long-Range Scanner.
    • *As with any other defensive technology, Missile Deactivation Transmitters are hardly flawless.
STRENGTHS
  • Capital-Killer: Paragon stations are capable of unleashing the totality of their weapons output through a single aperture; if used in this way, their spinal projector is slow-firing but immensely powerful. Comparable to a planetary defence cannon, in other words.
WEAKNESSES
  • Charging: Starlances are versatile, but this versatility comes with a drawback - when dedicating itself fully to anti-capital duties, a Paragon's Starlance Projectors will be unable to serve in a point defence function, leaving the stations vulnerable to bombing runs and missiles.
  • Space Turtle: Paragons are incapable of motion but for manoeuvring thrusters designed mainly for aiming the spinal projector.
DESCRIPTION
Security comes at a premium in a time when great powers clash and crumble, planets crack, and threats of yore reemerge from the maw of death itself. Impoverished worlds may lean on their insignificance for relative security, but the prosperous know better - some rely on well-equipped fleets, others the protection of one or more galactic powers or other influential organisations, and some invest in stationary defences.

Designed to appeal to the rabid isolationists and sensible spenders alike, the Paragon-class is large enough to pose a threat even to capital ships yet smaller and cheaper than the famed Golan space defence platforms. Even a lone platform may prove a worthy garrison for a frontier world, but it is equally suitable for service in the vast defence grids maintained by some of the galaxy's most well-defended capitals and fortress-worlds.

While as modular as any Globex design (e.g., internal layout/facilities, aesthetics, Hangar Allocation), there is something distinctly alien about the design philosophy of the Paragon. Indeed, strange beings are said to maintain some of their own, allegedly staffed entirely by bodiless brains.
