Songbird grimaced as zed blood splashed onto her goggles, taking a moment to wipe away the offending gore as she pulled her Taserblade out of the creature's skull. This was not going as well as she had hoped. It had been at least ten minutes since she had last run into another living sentient, and the undead were beginning to crowd the streets. The vigilante had been forced to kill more times today than she usually preferred, but even she recognized that it was a matter of self-defense. Kill, or be killed. Besides, how was she supposed to cuff a zombie? She suspected they'd just rip their own bloody hands off.
At any rate, she found herself taking the back alleys. her hands itching to take out her blasters, but her mind reminding her that she had to conserve power packs. Those droids were still around, and she didn't think a knife was going to cut it, with them. Heh. Good one.

She was startled from her inward joke by the sound of a shrill whistle, and her head whipped around to find a man on top of one of the buildings, gesturing for her to climb the nearby building. A grin came over her face. Good. Someone else was actually alive in this Forceforsaken city.
Songbird turned to find a fresh group of zeds headed her way, at least seven. She cursed to herself. They were blocking the way to the fire escape.
Well. She was just going to have to get creative, then.

"Oh, bloody hell!"
She muttered as she began to run towards the zeds, her Taserblade still in hand. The first in the undead conga line raised his hands toward her, his mouth gaping in hunger.
But her booted foot collided with his chest, staggering him into his fellows, halting their progress. Calling upon all of her training and athletic ability, Songbird leaped into the air, her boots landing on the shoulders of the stunned zed, and used him as a platform to launch herself into the air, and over the zeds, landing with a roll. Not stopping to think how insane that just was, she scrambled up the fire escape, and came onto the roof.
From there, she waved at the man across, showing she had made it up.

Dallen was no fool, he had anticipated the enemy to attempt something erroneous if they could not complete their objective. He was right to assume they had intended to do damage to the city or bases below. Given that they had not noticed his ships presence in low orbit though, they didn't exactly have a clear shot. Which left them very few options: Surrender, Fight Uselessly, or try to force the success of their objective. The latter requiring them to break through the Glory of the Republic set in their path. Either it would move and the city would be heavily damaged, or it would be a wall in the enemy's path and the target instead. So when the war call was broadcast over comms and the Captain of the glory reported the Nebula's tractor beam lock, the Republic Commander hung his head in disappointment and sorrow.

This was no grand battle, it had been made a sham of by the butchering of civilians on Mimban and the acts of pirates and criminals sullying the Mandalorians Honor. There was no glory for the Mandalorians in the sector, something Dallen felt pity for. They were grand warriors, and the battle on Gyndine's surface was a bit short of reminiscence of the Mandalorians of old. However, they had let too many other people do their fighting for them in the sector for their prowess and honor to show through. Those who lost their lives would not be remembered as warriors but terrorists in league with criminals who dirtied the names of the fallen. The fact an entire ship of warriors who choose to fight to carry on their mission rather than survive to fight in a real battle saddened the 102nd's commanding officer.

"Lieutenant Ree order the Glory's crew to put power to their forward shields and get me a line to the Mandalorians again." As he watched the Knight turn, Dallen stood impassively as the lightshow of ion cannons and turbolasers reflected off his glasses while he looked out the Testament's bridge viewport. When the frequency was opened, he decided to try reasoning one last time to minimize the bloodshed and give the Knight, no all the Mandalorians on Gyndine, a good reason to fight another day. "Warriors of the Knight, this is the last chance I give you. Power down. You will not have the speed necessary to cause sufficient damage as you intend because of the Obi-Wan, the distance is too short for your acceleration to peak since you've been held in place, diverting your weapons and shields to engines to rectify that would only cause your demise as our turbolasers reduce you to slag without your defenses in place. The criminal element your people are supporting and the pirates you entrusted space to have sullied the memory of your fallen here. Dying will not grant your allies victory or bring you or your clan glory. I even remind you to heed that your comrades on the surface were abandoned by those pirates you handed your vessels. Should you attempt to destroy yourself they will be stranded as we deploy further reinforcements. You doom them by leaving them no way of escape. So I say to you brave Mandalorians, power down and fight another day. Spill your blood on a better battlefield worthy of your sacrifice where you will actually find honor and a worthy adversary, because the conflict now has been dirtied and emptied of purpose. This is your last chance, Commander Thayne out."

Nodding so that the communication was muted on their end, but left open so if the captain or crew of the Knight decided to respond, Dallen sat back in his chair as he watched the lancing fire of the starships exchange of fire with silent judgement. The Republic Star Destroyer's shields would be raised forward as the ventral power was diverted, waiting to prevent the Knight from crashing itself into the city and people below. "Marlow keep our engines hot, I doubt the collision would destroy the Glory but if it loses altitude we'll give it everything we got to push them onto the battlefield where their brothers and sisters are battling. If they really intend to ram and crash then we'll make them regret it."

The enemy seemed to not have cared to listen as Dallen watched it begin to lurch forward toward the star destroyer, its hull sporting numerous plumes of smoke as fires burned across its hull where turbolasers impacted it as it shields fell. Any turbolasers and ion cannons that struck the Knight's tractor beam projectors slowing it further. Dallen trusted the Obi-Wan would target the Nebula's engines since it had exposed them to the 710th's command vessel. Regardless, the ship would indeed likely make it to slam into the Glory, the RSD shuddering as its full forward shields tried absorbing the impact, the Testament boosting forward to position itself should the RSD begin to fall.

Kay-Larr

Sphaera Tea Company Owner
Kay approached her ship, The Free Lady, and saw Terrac waiting for her. "Did General Santiago find you, doll?"

"Yes, he did. Along with them." She pointed to the six soldiers following behind her.

"So what did he say?"

"He just asked me a few questions and then pledged his support when he liked my answers. What's the chatter like out there? Are we still okay? Any word from Veiere?"

The old man shook his head. "Lots of chatter. There's word of zombies, attempts at knocking out planetary shields. Honestly some think that they are designed like the Deathstars and can be knocked out in one shot. Pretty dumb if you ask me, doll. But the fleets are taking care of it. And our part of the sector is clear so far."

"Good. Hopefully it's over sooner rather than later. I don't know how attacking planets and killing innocent people is going to get them to side with anyone but the Republic and their allies that are trying to protect them. You can't win people over with lethal force. History has proven that."

Kay stepped inside of her ship, the soldiers following in behind. She needed to refresh her tea. Once they were in, Terrac stepped in as well and sealed the doors. He put the shields up just in case as the General told him to.

Hopefully this would all be over soon.

Draco watched quietly as the woman out maneuvered the undead beings. She was agile for certain, a decent quality for out maneuvering the beings wandering the streets, which was the plan right now. He wanted to hit the jungle and call for pick up, but he had twenty four hoursish before he got to leave. And with getting out being the most difficult part of the task at hand it would also be the largest drain on his limited resources. Having a second person with extra resources and hands would help him conserve, and would likely increase his odds of survival, as well as hers.

The woman made her way up the fire escape, dead, grimy hands reaching up the ladder for her slipping behind her as she scurried up the metal rungs. Draco kept his voice down, just audible above the din of combat in the distance and the groans of the dead all around them in the hopes it would go unnoticed and they would be swiftly forgotten by the undead hunters. "Hey ya." He slipped the last round into the cylinder of his revolver and returned it to the holster on his side.

"You looked a little lost." The warrior muttered as he peered carefully over the edge of the building at the dead creatures. "I felt I ought to help out. They haven't seemed to figure out doors or ladders, so rooftops are fairly safe for travel if you can manage jumping from one to the next." Not everyone could, but she was athletic like him, more agile and probably without achy knees like him actually.

And then there was the last bit, did she have a better escape plan than him. "How are you getting out of here? The main surge and fighting is further in the city, there are packs throughout this quarter? You have a plan? Cause, I've got one, but it ain't great." Time to compare just a little bit before things got hairy. If too many got gathered around they might actually push open the door letting them onto the roof and then it would be a sprint. But, at least if they were quiet, they had some time to just talk and catch their breath.

The Force push worked as intended. A distraction from the larger picture. The dark man cocooned himself within the Force and was unharmed. He looked almost bored and that was very good.

Underestimating one's foe was a deadly mistake for many throughout history. Dune was already at work. He reached up to the ceiling and pulled the lights down on top of the human. This was followed up by metal brackets and sundry objects ripped from the walls. It resembled a maelstrom of metal, concrete and plastics descending on and towards him.

The Bith came forward in a flash of azure as his blade cut upwards and to the left....

The Special Forces squad had arrived in Yractos from the forward operating base. Even now they were disembarking. Now it was a matter of finding the Jedi they'd been sent to assist. The most logical choice was were the Force signatures concentrated.

They followed the device towards the shield installation. That seemed to be anomalous and probably where the Bith had gone. If he wasn't there then it narrowed down the options drastically. They were minutes out now....

"Fire all retro-thrusters," ordered Admiral Lod.

As the helmsman complied with this new order, the Knight and her strikecraft sought to disengage themselves from the Obi-Wan's grip. Their remaining Typhoons, though equally shattered as their opponents, kept pace with their opponents, taking advantage of their opponent's concentration on the Obi-Wan to attack without fear of harassment. The star destroyer's quad laser cannons began to interject into the dogfights, sputtering out careful bursts at the entangled opponents. As the mandalorian starfighters began to launch their warheads, the Obi-Wan's point defense emplacements came into play, with quad autoblaster fire directed by rapid-acting droid brains working to intercept bundles of warheads as they launched. Sometimes this defensive fire combined with the ship's hefty shields provided an effective defense, but sometimes it was not enough to stand up against both the ion cannon fire and the warheads. Gir watched the icons of slightly over half of the ships tractor beam projectors turn red, signalling that they were out of commission. He clicked a button on his console to determine the exact extent of the damage, but was immediately notified that Lethe had already dispatched repair teams and droids to those emplacements. He scrawled through the diagnostic report. We don't know enough yet to see if any of them are even fixable...feth.

Gir began to ponder the implications of this turn of events. With some of the star destroyer's tractor beams still locked on the Knight, the ships still remained connected, with the Knight's thrust now trying to propel not only itself, but trying to overcome the Obi-Wan's inertia and now that star destroyer's opposing thrust. He looked at the latest reports. A tug of war...but what's this? They're using their own tractor beams on Thayne's ship...Interesting...but Thayne's ship can also affect the Knight's movements through not only its won movements but through the use of its own tractor beams...He flipped his console screens to observe the rest of the elements of Task Force 710 arrive from their gravity slingshot maneuver around Gyndine's moon.

Almost immediately, most of them added their weapon's fire to the Obi-Wan Kenobi's withering fire directed at the rear of the Knight. More starfighters from the heavy cruisers and carrier corvettes poured in to swarm over the task force's flagship in an attempt to exterminate the presence of the bes'uliiks. Despite the presence of more firepower, perhaps more importantly, the Arendal-class cruisers and Delphin-class frigates began to lock on their own tractor beams across the Knight's hull in an attempt to arrest her movement and drag the hull upwards into space.

The wondrous thing about being sensitive to the Force is, well, being able to sense it.

As the Jedi reached up with the Force and utilized his telekinetic prowess on the fixtures, the Jen'jidai exploded into motion. A ripple of energy brought the lights crashing down on where Alkor... no longer was. It was one thing to hit someone with a Force Push, but another thing entirely to expect them to just stay there while you started grabbing everything but the kitchen sink and tossing it in their general direction. Alkor had fought a slew of telekines in his time, and all of them employed the same, tired tactics. Stay away, cause panic and discord, and capitalize on the openings.

The Bith had miscalculated.

As his storm of pots and pans flung from every side, the Jedi faced down a flash of darkness and twin streaks of snow-white. Alkor brought both blades across to rake at Dune from opposite angles. This happened in the span of only a few seconds, and all while the Jedi concentrated on picking things up with his mind.

Alkor never underestimated an enemy. He just overwhelmed them.

"This world is under the protection of the Galactic Republic. As Corporal in the Republic Army, I request that you lay down your weapons and come peacefully. Though I know full well you won't comply. Can we at least agree on a fair fight then?"

"Surrender now and I will spare your life, I promise." Varian replied honestly. He wasn't taught needless murder but he wasn't taught to be a pacifist as well. A Mandalorian was no pacifist. The Wolf of Myrkr gave the opponent this one chance and that was it. He twirled the beskad in his right arm before setting up a combat stance, prepared for battle.

Her answer will dictate his next course of action.

His attention was taken by Willa Isard, he didn't know of her yet she seemed to be in a position to be able to offer orders to the Republic military, so he began to walk her way. The Officer himself turned first to see the Jedi approaching, Veiere lifting a hand in passive greeting before passing them both onto to stop nearby one of the communications terminals looking to the operator who must have been recording and mediating the positions of other Republic Forces. "Any news from Commenor?" he asked quickly, eager to know that his friend and the former Senator were well and safe. "N-no...-Nothing yet. There's been no attack there, it seems they've mostly focused their forced around Mimban and Gyndine..". At the least, that was the first good news he had heard since landing upon Mimban; nodding, he replied with an edge of authority in his tone, "Get word out to the Elders of Commoner, they need to know what's happening here". While somewhat selfish, his priority there remained to be Lady Kay's safety alongside Terrac and when things would finally settle here, he would return to them yet he couldn't ignore the cry of the Force when so many lives were being threatened and oppressed.

Turning back now, he moved to meet [member="Willa Isard"] and the officer who was in the midst of scurrying away by her command. "Veiere Arenais, Jedi Knight..." He introduced himself very matter-of-fact, there didn't seem a need for the use of gentle manners during the time of war. He had not been a recognized Jedi Knight for over a decade by the recognition of the Jedi Order itself though he too didn't feel like explaining himself and the life story around his exile to every person that passed him by. "I came in with the thirty-second regiment from the City, reinforcements were pushing back the invading army...", he paused, how exactly would he describe the evidence of necromancy that he had seen, "...-I need to get back out there and do what I can for the injured. Is there a faster way to get topside ?".

This wasn't going to end peacefully, sadly. It actually made her somewhat, upset. Judging by how strong he had been, he didn't seem like someone she could last a direct hit from more than once or twice, before her armour became a death cage. She gave a small sigh, and rolled her neck. With deft fingers she unhooked her cloak, letting it fall to the ground as she took up a ready stance of her own, the knife ready to go as she examined his posture. He was ready to fight, and now so was she. "I truly regret it has come to this. It would've been much easier, had you simply stopped after the first shot. But you understand, it wouldn't do my own honour well if I turned my back on my teammates and friends, now would it?" He seemed honourable enough to let her finish speaking before attacking. And now that she was done, she gave a simple nod, to indicate her readiness.

The girl was no fool, though. She couldn't afford a mistake, so she would let him move first, observe his movements, and react from there. Her weapon had a distinct advantage if she could get well within his sword's range, to the point of controlling it possibly. Yet she couldn't let direct hits through, and had to hope reinforcements arrived soon. Else, this was going to be a very, very painful death.

Fair enough, then there was nothing more for Varian to say. The time to fight has come, the opponent had made her choice and thus here they were amidst the woods ready to kill each other. The Mandalorian tossed his helmet away so it would not be of some hassle clipped on the back of his waist. He began circling around his enemy, just like a predator analysed its prey.

A knife.

It was the only visible weapon that his opponent wielded. The Wolf of Myrkr knew that he had to keep his distance, he had the advantage of the length of his beskad to keep her at bay. The Force was his ultimate strength, it was on his side. He could not underestimate her senses, too, being a Miraluka. The Mandalorian knew he had to focus on his strengths to overcome this obstacle.

Time to fight.

Varian lunged himself forward in a Force-enhanced dash but his plan was to surprise, rather than do the obvious slash. The Wolf of Myrkr halted at a safe distance and slashed with his beskad at the enemy, imbuing the beskad with the Force Weapon technique. Yet, the length of the beskad would not reach the opponent, and Varian knew that. Slicing her was not his plan.

As the beskad was imbued with Force Weapon, the Mandalorian channeled a Force blast through it, similar to the one he had utilized earlier with the attempt of sending the opponent away into a wall or another obstacle behind along with dealing kinetic damage from the blast if it connected.

Vass watched quietly as Varian circled her, and kept mind of her full surroundings. The advantage of being a Miraluka, of course, in the woods included her ability to see generally unobstructed in 360* around her, as she saw not with her eyes. Granted, beyond the normal cone of vision was more like peripheral vision, as she had not practiced it much, but it was still an advantage he may or may not be aware of. So she was perfectly aware of what was behind her, for the most part, as well as above and to her sides. There would be no sneaking behind her, no tricking her into backing up against a wall. She knew what was going on.

Except, of course, for the opening strike. The moment it began, Vass reacted mostly on instinct, stepping in and raising the knife to deflect the swing upwards, from where she could control the fight. However, it was too late to prepare herself for the exact distance he moved, and she hadn't noticed a swell in the force until it was too late. She managed to lower her arms over her chest as the force of the blast hit her, sending her flying backwards given her lack of preparation. Still, she wouldn't hit any obstacles, as she oriented herself in the air and forced herself to land on her feet, grunting in pain. Her arms had absorbed the most force, and were sore for it but intact. Yet she could feel a sharp pain in her chest, and she knew full well she had at least cracked, possibly broken, a rib from her failure to anticipate the attack.

She spat out onto the ground and forced herself back up into a standing position, a little noticeably in pain from her newly injured rib. Yet she was smiling a little bit, as she took up her fighting stance again. She knew full well her two privates would continue to give updates to [member="Thoja Arlos"] and quite probably [member="Symara Tarriq"] regarding their positions. She just had to survive long enough to get support.

Though already she felt she'd be rather broken by the time they arrived. Still, broken could be fixed. She thumbed the side of her knife's handle, as she began to make an approach, slowly. Her rib hurt but she could ignore it for now, what she needed to do was get into comfortable range. So, she quickly acted, stepping in as fast as she could manage, with what one could only describe as an 'aggressive block'. RAther than making a desperate lunch with the knife, she was actively moving her arms in such a way that if he swung with the sword, the blade would connect with the knife and her weapon would slide down his, right to the crossguard. It was an effective knife strategy to close distance, and a very basic one.

Aedan Miles sat watching the reports flow in before he finally nodded and gestured calmly towards the helmsman. "Signal all ships to jump to hyperspace. Tell my raiding parties to keep up we will need them for this next bit. If I recall we should be roughly even with the Republic's fleet thanks to their addition to our forces. Also send out a call to all of my friends and all pirates in the area. Inform them that the republic has diverted large portions of their fleet towards Mimban and Cato Nemodia point out that now is the time to strike if they wish to." Aedan went silent and looked up as the last of his three nearby raiding parties jumped into the system this one actually contained something a bit more fun smirking the young man nodded his head licking his lips as he gestured. With that gesture his now newly reinforced fleet jumped to hyperspace taking a very direct and unusual route to Gyndine. Soon it would begin again soon the Republic would know the true fear of facing off against the Pirate King Aedan Miles. He started to laugh as his eyes flashed violently the three raiding parties had all been small compared to the fleet he lead each consisting of 2 or 3 ships each except the last one. It had contained a Pheonix-class star destroyer, a Haran'uliik-class frigate, and 2 widow-class corvettes. These new ships would be a good addition along with the 4 new Dire-class and 2 extra Facade-class. His fleet was finally ready to show the republic what true terror was their fleets would not expect him to return let alone with extra forces in tow but he had called off quite a few financially beneficial raids to conduct this attack. Now it was time to make sure his friends would get out safely from that planet.

Travot watched as the Verd soared through the air away from him, but his disappearance was quickly obscured by the crumbling roof. He stretched out his hand in a vain attempt to hold the pieces of stone aloft. His face turned into a grimace as he fought the world's gravity: some of the stones continued their instant plummet, while Travot managed to slow the descent of some of the other tiles. The last one landed on top of another stone with a light thud. He licked his lips and let out a sigh as he surveyed the damage.

"Well...maybe...err...hopefully they can fix that..."

Travot ruefully shook his head. If Taswe was here right now....The large man shook his head in an attempt to drive the thoughts away. He would need all his focus against this opponent.

He gingerly walked forward with his lightsaber still in hand, taking care to step over the fallen roof. He kept his eyes facing forward the whole time just in case the mandalorian jumped out to engage him, but he didn't. Travot came to a stop just after stepping over one of the fallen pieces of the roof. He reached into the Force, attempting to feel for any signs of impending danger, but he felt nothing. The susevfian looked at the offshooting doorways in front of him. He felt a certain pull to the one on his left, but immediately remembered his instruction from a grizzled marine about "fatal funnels" and doors. He had been one of their favorites to breach through such danger zones with his use of Soresu, but that lightsaber style would be useless against the strange liquid gun that the mandalorian used. He briefly thought back to seeing its spray as the Verd flew through the corridor. It's a physical attack...That brought a quick, muted smile to his face.

Travot was not particularly skilled in many of the more esoteric applications of the Force, but he had focused much his training on many of the basic protective powers. He would use one of those now. The susevfian reached into the Force to manipulate the atoms in front of him, creating a shimmering force barrier in front of him as he breached through the doorway and into a room of pillars. In keeping with what he had learned from the marines, he immediately began to step to the left, with his eyes searching for any trace of the mandalorian warrior.

The Mandalorian asked a damn good question. What was their plan. Frankly, Nick only had an inkling of what was up, and where it was, and was running on the logic of knowing his adversary when he saw it. "Plan is ambush from above. Stick to higher ground, when we have our target, we start firing. No mercy," he said calmly, moving along the rooftops, slowly but surely jumping over each alleyway, and waiting for them to arrive.

Finally, he felt it. Jsut across the plaza, there was the source of it. He looked over the sign closely, frowning. A freaking ewok, chanting. And a kid--an real kid, not an artifically aged teen like himself--was doing bloody gymnastics. What the fething hell had he gotten himself into? Still, he could feel it. He gestured to the others. "Hit the bear. Stupid, but it's the source of all this."

"Ready...." He said quietly.

"Steady...." He cocked his heavy rifle while everyone but laughingstock did the same. They were out of range for shotguns.

The Knight waded forward, as if the empty night around it was thick mud. Under interdiction and heavy fire from multiple craft, shields and hull already faltering, the Knight still staggered forward, bearing slowly towards the Glory. Admiral Dallen's message echoed through the battle.

::Te ka'rase orar ti cuun'kote. Ib'tuur jatne tuur kyra'mur.::

Seized upon and struck upon by the host of enemy ships, the Knight at last faltered to a stop. Its fighter guard was long gone, shredded to scrap in its assault against the Obi-Wan Kenobi and the Yractos defenses. Its shields fell, and it ceased to return fire. Only the engines remained under power, vainly pushing the dying hulk towards the Glory.

Scans would show that all power was being diverted and directed towards the hyperdrive generator.

The response to his offer for a peaceful solution left a somber feeling echoing through the bridge of the Republic Cruiser as Dallen watched the Knight take even more fire as the 710th was coming into range to support their command vessel. "Lieutenant Sella turn their coffin into a scrap heap. We gave them their chance." With the enemy's Nebula Class still caught in several of the Obi-Wan's tractor beams and the other ships of the 710th adding to that effect, whatever the Mandalorian maniacs were trying to pull wasn't going to work, especially when it was revealed what they were trying to accomplish. "Commander Thayne, we're detecting spikes in their hyperspace generator.. . . .they're going to shake themselves apart. . ."

Were they really so stupid and insane as to try something so clearly not going to work. "With that damage and the tractor beams even if it were possible for them to jump they would just tear themselves to pieces in a horrific manner. . . .what are they even hoping to do? Hit the planet." Well, whatever it was they intended, it was impossible for their ship to even make it to hyperspace. They were literally in deep within Gyndine's mass shadow effect, no ship was able to jump into hyperspace under such circumstances. It was why Gravity Well Generators existed, to pull ships out of hyperspace and keep them from escaping by simulating the mass shadow effect large asteroids and planets possessed.

The Knight would either tear itself into pieces before ever accomplishing a thing or it would simply be burned to slag. "Lieutenant Ree, order the Glory to raise their shields and have the Firebird bring their gravity well online in orbit. If the planet's mass shadow is bad enough, might as well leave them doubly fethed." As his orders were carried out, the Republic Commander rubbed his temple, awaiting the next portion of insanity to appear. Even if a hyperspace jump were possible within a planetary body's mass shadow, the Mandalorians were aware of the fact they would simply kill all their own comrades in the process. Truly their people had fallen in this new Empire diverging from the United Clans. Bedding with pirates and criminals who butchered and made the Sith look like charity workers, employing warriors who doomed their comrades and had no value on their own lives.

The only thing Dallen could console himself with was the fact that the Knight was going to burn away or tear itself apart in it's Captain's misguided efforts. "Commander the Glory reports we've successfully deployed sixty percent of its contingent to FOB Rhienstorm so far." Well that and he hoped making General Arlos and Commander Avarro very happy campers down on the surface.

Battle Group Formation
Cato-Fleet-Formation.jpg

Admiral Holt stood watching the time pass by until reversion. It had been a long trip from Denon and the group had done it in only two jumps. It had been a very stressful few hours and now the long awaited finish to their trip was upon them. The Formidable Battle Group had been dispatched by Supreme Commander Forlon at the outbreak of hostilities in the area and was to report to Admiral Jorest aboard the Remembrance. Holt had remembered seeing the flagship once. It was a work of art more than a battle boat but it had teeth when it needed them. Why Forlon had sent him and the Formidable with its heavy attack force to Cato was beyond him. He knew Admiral Jorest and knew he was the best the Republic had. He remembered hours of study and research into the man and his tactics being part of Naval academy.

"Sir Reversion in four minutes" said Commodore Briggs. The man was his new executive officer for the Formidable Battle Group and Vernan did not know much about the man. he seemed polite and well astute in the naval codex and he had even had a few dinners with the man but he was still a new sprog in the gears of the Formidable Battle Group. He would work with his new XO and after all this business at Cato Neimoidia was over he and the man would sit down and have a long talk and Vernan would put him through the paces to see how good the man really was. HE turned, with his hands clasp behind his back and smiled at the new XO.

"Very well Commodore, inform the jump officer he has the boat and to start the timer." Said Vernan to his XO. HE turned his attention back out the forward view port at hyperspace with its mind numbing light show. Commodore Briggs spoke tot he jump officer and the man took over the ship to drop it from hyperspace. Vernan watched the timmer begin at three minutes and count its way down to zero.

The massive battlegroup dropped out of hyperspace in the same formation it had entered it. The heavy attack line which included the Formidable and its other Star Destroyers sat to the port of the heavy bombardment line. These two lines were the power house of the battle group and contained the long range firepower of the group. Flanking the two were the two attack lines of the battlegroup which held the remaining heavy warships which would be used for closing operations with their heavy standard range weapons. flanking these and to the rear was the two escort lines which would be used to support the fleet and protect it from attack craft. In the center and far to aft the assault fleet sat with its hulls gorging with assault troopers and vehicles. The Formidable was the largest of the rapid response groups in the Republic and with its variable mission profile it could carry out any job the Republic might need of it.

Holt looked out at the scene in the system. What he saw was not what he had expected. The task force under Admiral Jorest including the Remembrance was listing and lifeless. The group had been decimated but what appeared to be an enemy fleet. The massive group sat on the other side of the worlds orbit with the planet to the port flank of both fleets. Holt did not pause or think about what to do next.

"Commodore have all ships raise shields and move to engage" said Holt as the crew around him began to prepare for battle. "Range to the enemy?" Holt asked as Briggs went about communicating with the rest of the fleet.

"We are already in long range weapons range sir. Seven minutes at full speed will get us into standard range." said the commander standing behind the group of officers now huddled around the helm console. Holt looked out at the ships in the distance then to the officer. "All Ahead slow commander. Lets get the long guns working on them and once we have them sotfened up we will pounce." said Holt with a grin. a moment later Briggs had given the gunnery crews orders to ploy solutions on the closest ships and to target them with long range weapons. Holt had to admit the man had a preseance on the bridge. He knew what needed to be done and did not ask Holt for ermission he just did it. That was ok until the man did something that would hurt the ship. Then Holt would come own on him. until then he wanted to see the man work and gave him all the freedom he needed.

A moment later the hyper velocity cannons, long range turbolasers and long range ion cannons came to life. Bolts of red, blue, and green struck out at the ship sin the distance. Spread across mutiple ships ranging their targets and bracketing them for precise targeting. A flash of light dimmed the transperasteel of the Formidable as the artillery ships let loose their main guns. The heavy cannon cruiser, built around ultra heavy Plasma cannons and massively powerful Ion Pulse Cannons and let loose their contained energy sending out a volley of Ionic energy followed by spheres of plasma as powerful as the sun. Following them was the flash of the linear accelerator of the Nobelsse-class sending its bolt out at a massive crescent shaped ship. all around the ships of the group launched wave after wave of fighter craft sending them out at the enemy ahead of the fleet in swarm like formations.

"Commodore, once we are in range jamm their sensors as much as we can. Lets not let them fire on us undeterred. Also have the magnepulse cluster bombs on those Mothmas ready. Once we close into standard range we will use them to shut down their weapons. These bastards will pay for Admiral Jorest and his fleet. No quarter Commodore Briggs I will take full responsability when the senate brings charges against us." Said Holt staring out at what was left of Remembrance and the man he called friend and mentor.

"It looks like they're powering up their hyperdrive," observed Admiral Lod.

Gir frowned and began to rapidly type into his console to confirm the duros's words. The console confirmed that, causing the blonde man to lean back into his seat in contemplation. That'd require switching off the hyperdrive safeties...are they really that crazy? Jumping in a mass shadow is a gutsy thing to do. There was a good chance that such a maneuver would result in them being scattered across the skies...but that may be their best chance of freedom as well. He looked closer at the Knight, carefully watching it struggle under the pull of the various ship's tractor beam projectors. Gir thought it was possible for the ship to jump, but it seemed likely to Gir that such an action would shear parts of the ship away, since they were still held by the tractor beams of what collectively was a heavier mass. The other captain must know that as well...what is he up to? Gir stroked his chin. He would be curious to see if the Knight's captain was as suicidal and crazy as he currently seemed...
