Attn: The Shrouded

  • 1st Expedition
    Unknown Planet Near Mara Corridor
The thousand-meter Argent Dawn and its accompanying fleet emerged from hyperspace at the coordinates provided to them by the scouts that had been dispatched months ago by the Shrouded Republic as part of project Sanctuary's first phase.

Project Sanctuary was one of the most highly classified projects within the Shrouded fleet. Its ultimate goal was to find a permanent home for the almost half a million refugees in the fleet, a place to resettle and rebuild. Its first phase involved dispatching scouts to locate habitable planets that do not appear on any maps, discretely tucked away from the most circulated hyperspace routes, but still close enough to be only a short jump away.

Planet OX-53C890, a nameless, unexplored jungle world located roughly a few light years away from the Mara corridor, which linked the Galactic Empire to the territory held by the Silver Jedi Order, had been identified as an ideal candidate.

Now it was time for phase two. It stipulated the construction of a base on the surface of the planet and thorough exploration of the environment and resources that were to be found here. That was why this expedition was here. If phase two was successful, then in time, the Shrouded would move onto phase three: colonization.

The small fleet released its payload: shuttlecraft and small freighters, which now descended upon the planet, bringing with them supplies and construction materials. As the first few Lambda-class shuttles hit the atmosphere, an ancient sensor hidden somewhere down on the planet, activated and something awoke from its centuries-long slumber. This nameless, unknown planet held secrets which were best left forgotten.

Elaine had arrived with a small task force, as well as a new unit of soldiers outriders. They where on a speeder bike she started making, it had a blaster cannon in front, and a quick release proximity mine at the back. That was if they where getting chased, they could drop it, and destroy their enemy. It also had toe bar, so it could haul gear to front if need in a hurry. Though not much of as slow it down, due to extra drag. It came with a holster for carbine, though the driver was a scout trooper for all pretenses, they where here as part of a battle group of twenty five thousand soliders. She had four these battle groups now, this one was now on loan to [member="Kainan Wolfe"], though they did not take direct orders from him. The speeder bike was also available to other groups here, as she wanted to see if they liked them, after all selling equipment was one her other jobs.

She was wearing her dueling armour, and also test driving it. As it was also fun to drive, as she buzzed around around the encampment she was setting up. This was not the main encampment, but the one her troops would be billeted in. The woods reminder her of Alderaan, she missed it at times, but only times.

These unknown planets offered great places to sit and wait, least the captain did think so, adal was on the bridge of her freighter as it buzzed through hyperspace. Her crew aboard moving quickly as they had just nearly got caught by a patrol while doing some of her....more pirate transactions and deliveries...though adal worried not they had escaped but no doubt needed to lay low...so a random jump was the only thing she had in mind

miss armina we are approaching our destination now...lets hope this doesn't kill us instantly

Her navigator piped up before she laughed at the older man and walked past him patting his shoulder gently as she looked out among the stars flying past

don't doubt what was put in, I have a good feeling we'll end up somewhere without the patrols, lay for a week or two then off again

ma'am! We are detecting ships at out exit point orders?

Adals face drained of color as she frowned and placed a finger on her lips then spoke

keep our course it's all we can do...have the men ready just in case...

A yes ma'am came back as they reverted to real space above a planet...ans right next to a entire bloody fleet, she had the freighter slow to a stop knowing that if they attempted to escape it could go really really bad...thwyd have to wait

  • Star Destroyer Argent Dawn
    Planet OX-53C890

The warlord watched the proceedings from the bridge of his flagship, the Valiant-class Star Destroyer Argent Dawn, a ship which he had designed himself. The triangular hull of the mechanical beast was one thousand meters long and dotted with weapon emplacements of various kinds. Despite its diminutive size by Star Destroyer standards, it was heavily armed and more than capable of holding its own in an engagement.

Escorting it, were two Admonitor-class Pocket Star Destroyers, at five hundred meters each, one of them being Wolfe's old flagship, the Final Verdict and the other being a new vessel, the Enduring Victory. In addition, three Arquitens-class light cruisers also accompanied the small fleet, taking up the flanks in order to protect the civilian vessels and provide early warning, in case anyone tried to approach it. Three squadrons of TIE Reaper starfighters also buzzed about, in flights of two or three. It was not a very large fleet, but a sufficient one for this deployment.

Alarms blared on the bridge of the Star Destroyers as the sensors picked out an unidentified freighter emerging from hyperspace. Wolfe sighed. It was a situation eerily reminiscent of what had happened earlier in the Argent Dawn's lifetime, when it was still under construction. But this time, the Star Destroyer had the entirety of its weapons complement online and an escort fleet to back it. "Tactical, have our tractor beams grab onto that freighter and pull it aboard. Dispatch two full squads of Fleet Marines and one of our Sith to the hangar bay to take the freighter's occupants into custody. Comms, open up a channel."

"Attention, unidentified freighter. This is the Star Destroyer Argent Dawn, of the Shrouded Republic military. You have entered a restricted area without proper authorization. Stand down and surrender, or you will be destroyed."

  • Planet OX-53C890
    Unknown Planet Near Mara Corridor
The nameless planet below was covered in lush jungles and crisscrossed by winding rivers. Scans had not revealed any artificial structures and given its proximity to the Mara corridor, it was a mystery why this planet hadn't been colonized yet, though no records of its existence could be found in any public database, or in the stores of information that the Shrouded Republic had recovered from the library at Lorrd.

The speeder prototypes graciously provided by Elaine Thul, proved ideal for the thick, forested environment and tropical climate and performed beautifully. Using reports from the earlier scouting missions, a suitable clearing had been found in the jungle canopy, which was surrounded by a massive cliff on three of its sides, that led to a large drop to the ground below. It was an ideal place to build a base and the expeditionary group was directed to the location.

Two Lambda-class shuttles, each bearing a squad of Fleet Marines were the first to land, followed by several freighters offloading material and personnel. The construction and administration of the facility, were placed under Elaine Thul's direct command and all personnel on the ground were to answer to her, barring the presence of a higher-ranking military official. There seemed to be some commotion up in orbit, caused by an unidentified freighter jumping in, but other than that, things were quiet.

Within the thick vegetation outside the encampment, an ancient drone stirred, its various components coming online.

<Motion detected. Engaging power-up sequence... Sensors online. Repulsors online. Communications online.>
<Scanning for intruders...>
<Intruders detected. Running sensor profiles against known Republic units.>
<Error. Intruders do not match known profiles.>
<Informing command. Returning to base.>

The small probe lifted itself from the ground where it lay undisturbed for hundreds of years. It caused a small commotion amongst the local wildlife, prompting some birds which were nesting in a tree, to take to the skies. The mechanical being's repulsorlifts sputtered a few times, having decayed over the centuries during which it lay motionless, but they still functioned. The probe flitted through the trees, returning to its point of origins to alert its occupants that it detected the presence of a threat.

As the freighter came out of hyper space and was targeted by the ships tractor beams Kiso received orders from [member="Kainan Wolfe"] to take several marine squads and secure the ship. "Hop to it lads, we got a ship to secure once it get on broad, set blasters to stun and those with slug throwers, but shoot at they feet is they resist". She gave a quick look to the Sith accompanying them "You can do what ever, just don't kill any one important".

The two squads made double time to the hanger, some setting up marks men positions around the entire area, others standing at attention and awaiting the ship to come in. Kiso game a quick conformation on their status over the open comm "Marines in place and awaiting the unidentified ship, over".

[member="Adal Armina"] l [member="Elaine Thul"]

Her base was finally set up, and her outriders began reporting back. The trials of her new bike seemed to be a success, they where nippy and got them to scout area quite well. The drone went unnoticed for time being however, as outriders main job was to give a basic map of the area. This was something satellites could not do, as the they would just show trees, and other vegetation, and now her encampment. The place was secure, and artillery had been deployed so if they came under attack, from space, they could also fight back. The place all so had a makeshift landing pad, so freighters could land and take off, as well as a fuel store near by.

She then order the scouts, I need you to move out, and set up sentry points, to routes into the base. Keep an eye out for movement, and remember keep squads rotating, as we don't want people getting board. Also keep the main base posted atleast every ten minutes, as we no idea of wildlife on this planet, and if dangerous or not. As far she knew, there was nothing humanoid to worry about. She then got back on her outrider bike, and moved to makeshift landing pads, to see if anyone had arrived yet.

    Unknown Planet Near Mara Corridor
The planet's wildlife had most likely never encountered intelligent life, so the local predators had yet to learn to fear the newcomers. A pack of lizard-like creatures ambushed one of the scouts which Elaine dispatched, jumping onto them from the trees and attacking with razor-sharp claws and jaws powerful enough to sever limbs and crush skulls. The creatures were about the same size as kath-hounds and just as agile.

Further into the forest, the probe reached its destination, an ancient door discretely tucked away under a cliff, camouflaged by the vegetation. The probe reached out with a transmission, sending its ID codes to the base and for the first time in centuries, the door groaned, shuddered and then slowly opened, severing vines and finally getting stuck because of a root which had grown through its servos during the many years in which it lay unused. Nevertheless, the door opened enough to allow three fully grown men to walk through, side by side. The probe had no difficulty getting through.

Flitting about through the ancient, musty and decrepit corridors, the probe headed towards the command center of the base, where an old droid sat motionless, still connected to the command consoles by ancient cables.

"Probe C-1540981963646 reporting possible enemy activity," said the small probe droid in a squeaky, mechanical voice. The ancient super tactical droid stirred for the first time in centuries, its photoreceptors lighting up and bathing the room in a sickly yellow light and its servos creaking from ages of being unused. It was unable to move anymore, but it reached out through the cables which connected it with the base's computers.

<Engaging emergency power-up sequence. Main reactor online. Shields online. Weapon systems online. Sensors online. Droids online>
<Activating main sensors>
<Orbital presence detected. Comparing profile with known enemy signatures>
<Possible match found. Similarity with Victory-class Star Destroyer: 57.093671%>
<Determining likelihood of Republic forces present... Likelihood 79.618461539%>
<Activating alert status. Deploying droids>

The base lit up, its various systems coming online. Inside ancient droid bays, things began to stir, for the first time in almost a millenia. Droids began filing about, some in better condition than others, some dragging behind them limbs which no longer functioned, some droids did not stir at all. An ancient speaker crackled and a voice came through. "Republic presence detected on the planet. Mobilize all forces. Deploy skirmish parties to gauge enemy weaknesses. Prepare for battle."

The ancient droids lifted their rusted heads and answered in unison. "Roger, roger."

Back at the Shrouded base, several marines were patrolling the newly erected wall, their blaster rifles held at the ready, eyes scanning the horizon for local predators and dangerous wildlife. Down in the jungle, something stirred. "Uhh, this is Foxbat-339, I have movement on my sensors, roughly fifty meters away from the wall. Probably more of those lizard creatures. Recommend deploying units to deal with the problem."

MA'AM! We've lost all control of the ship! They've got tractor beams on us!

Adal looked forward, she didn't like this at all....

ma'am we are receiving comms

She nodded as she listened, she sat down as she tapped her finger on the captain's chair. Shrouded republic? She brought up a map which was updated usually with boundaries for the different empires, governments, army's etc. She couldn't find them...nothing said that freighters were restricted...sure yes she didn't do exactly legal stuff but she still had legal business. She opened comms up back and spoke

captain armina of the queen corusaunt speaking, I'm showing nothingabout this area being restricted area for any military, nor is this even explored much at all...im afraid to say that we have a issue...we will stand down but no one will be leaving my ship thats aboard now...i wish to reach a agreement but only if I can talk one on one with you sir

Her tone was formal, firm, but respectable to him, she looked as the ship was brought aboard and turned the intercom to her crew on

attention crew this is the captain, all personel is to remain aboard the ship after my departure. Under no circumstances should any crew be on the outside of the ship...that is all

She walked forward and then to the ramp, it lowered as she looked around seeing marines. She raised her hands and stepped off as the ramp closed behind her as she smirked

take me to the captain

She got a message from one scout units, that some lizards where being annoying near a tree line. She stopped her bike and decided to give another order, Don't bother they probably no threat, just keep an eye on them. She then added I will be there shortly, keep an eye on till I get there. She then took her bike round to have a look herself, she saw some movement but crucial sensed nothing through the force. This complexed her for a moment, ether it was another force nullifying lizard or a droid. She turned around and onto her com link, Get me an infantry squad, and some A.I.G. with them. I think we may have droid issue, and I like to find out. She decide to use ion grenades, as it would not kill a lizard, but would put droid down. She could sense nothing, but some was their, she decided this was the best course of action. Soon as squad of infantry came to her, and then pointed over to tree line and she said Fire your grenades into that tree line, I think we have a droid there. They raised their blasters, and then fired them at the tree line.........

A squad of ancient, rusting B1 Battle Droids emerged from the trees, firing their blasters at Elaine as they shambled forward. "Engage the enemy!" ordered the droid's officer, prompting replies of "Roger, roger" from the rest of the droid squad. The droids were ancient, in poor condition and barely functional, but onwards they went, only to die when the ion grenades fell amongst them.

Back at the base, more droids emerged from the treeline, firing as they went, most of their shots missing their targets. "This is Alpha base to all units! We are under attack from some kind of droids, here! I thought this place was supposed to be uninhabited!" came a call via comlink.

More calls came in, as the Shrouded Republic's comm network came alive with reports of hostile contacts and successful counterattacks. The ancient droids seemed to be probing the base's defenses, seeking an opening, or perhaps a weak spot.

The comm chatter was joined by queries from the fleet which hung above the planet. An officer requested a report on the ground situation, while another announced that he had dispatched a squadron of fighters to assist the base.

Back at the droid facility, the super tactical droid monitored the ongoing battle, relaying orders and forming a strategy. "All units, converge on enemy base. Deploy droidekas at the marked positions. Destroy all enemies," it instructed its small, robotic army.

As [member="Adal Armina"] excited the ship Kiso gave a signal for the marines to lower their weapons, unlike the last people they caught these ones seemed to be willing to negotiate and seek some sort of peaceful agreement. "Certainly, come right this way", a few marines flanked the pair and followed them to the bridge.

"Sorry about the tractor beam and all, our military is currently doing an operation on the surface, and if reports are anything to go by their is a engagement of some sort happening below", "I'd be a shame for your ship to get shoot down by any ground defenses the rouge droids down their have". The group entered the turbo lift and acceded to the bridged, the door opening revealing [member="Kainan Wolfe"], "Sir, this is the captain and commander of the freighter caught in the tractor beam, she wishes to speak with you".

LOCATION: ALPHA BASE
SITUATION: COMBAT

Kyle just landed his TIE/Reaper as distress calls came flooding from Alpha Base. Something was here, and they just pissed it off. An army of some kind of droids, covered in rust, greens and all sorts of plants. They looked like they didn't see action for centuries and their aim was horrible, but the could still do some damage. For all Kyle knew, there could be thousands of them here. He jumped out of the cockpit of his fighter and picked up his WESTAR-35 blasters, and his old EE-3 rifle. In front of him stood [member="Elaine Thul"], the person in charge of this operation.

"What's going on here Ma'am. What is attacking us? I require a full report on the current situation. My men will arrive here shortly, for now we must hold off the enemy with what we have."

Kyle hopped down from the landing pad and charged off towards the wall, taking up a marksman position on top of a watch tower. He sent bursts of plasma towards the incoming droids bringing some of them down when he saw it. Spherical objects rolling into position before unfolding into a shielded menace.

"Droidekas!" Kyle exclaimed as 6 or 7 of those monstrosities opened fire. "This is an ancient seperatist battle group!"

More and more droids piled onto the defenders as the super-tactical droid ordered all of it's units to converge on the new base. The droids swarmed around the walls, surrounding the soldiers and officers within. Kyle was forced to retreat as his position became a point that the ancient droids focused their fire on. Unclipping a bunch of ion grenades from his belt, he tossed them towards the droids as they advanced. Several of them fell, but the grenades bounced away from the droideka shields. They needed an idea, and fast. Maybe this would be easier if Kyle had any knowledge of clone wars-era anti droid tactics, but he wasn't very keen on learning history that was almost as ancient as time itself. What he did know, was that old ray shields could be bypassed by slow moving projectiles.

"Alright, groups 1 and 2, you lot are coming with me. We need to get close enough to them to allow us to just roll the grenades towards them. That will allow our grenades to move slow enough to bypass their shields. Everyone else, you are taking orders from Miss Elaine. Cover us while we move."

Shouts of "Yes Sir!" echoed from the soldiers around him as he made his way to the blast doors.

@STRATCOM @Kiso @Kyle Raymus

As she saw the the droids collapse, she soon found out hey where not alone. They had droidekas with them, she turned and moved back and told scout, Send the enemy coordinates to artillery detachment, and fall back. Her troops and her started to pull back, then a man waked up to her, he said he needs a full report on an unfolding situation that was about to be put down. He then going to give some orders, she turned him and said Negative, fall back these are my troops, and we about to deal with the situation. She looked sternly at him, then looked at spare outrider bike, Use that and follow me, we are falling back. She fell back as far as she could, and waited for him, and her troops to catch up. As they did she used her com link, and then ordered her artillery battery Open Fire! Then forty howlers fired E.M.P. rounds at the droid forces, each them had a thirty meter area of effect, the noise from the bombardment, was why it was called the Howler. As the noise came she put her fingers in her ears, as round after round landed on the droids. The was some shrapnel but not much, as these where not H.E. rounds. She had around twenty five thousand troops here, it was a well defend base. Though she had no idea, how many droids their where.

    Planet OX-53C890

Adal Armina was brought to the bridge of the Star Destroyer, where a man was busy overseeing the operations undergoing around the planet. The man wore an immaculate uniform cut in a style that did not resemble that of any of the major powers. He had dark brown hair that was streaked with white and eyes a blue and cold as ice, burning with a fierce intensity that showed the razor-sharp intellect which lay behind them.

The most striking feature of the man's attire, was a heavy-looking leather cloak, or a dark brown color, with brown and gray fur covering the shoulders and the upper back. The cloak was held in place by a silver clasp, forged in the shape of a snarling wolf's head, which bound together the two intricately-patterned leather belts which held the cloak in place. He carried himself in the manner of a natural, charismatic leader and his deep voice carried a tone of authority. "Thank you, sergeant. I would like you to take your team down to the planet to assist our forces there in locating and securing whatever facility the droids are coming from," he said to Kiso. Then he turned to face the captain of the captured ship.

"This is a classified location, captain Armina. Of course it is not featured on any maps. In fact, I am very curious about how you learned of the location of this system, when so very few even know of its existence," he said, his tone commanding and his intense eyes fixed on hers. In his mind, she could only be one of two things. A resourceful individual with a talent for getting into places where she shouldn't be, in which case she could be a valuable addition to the fleet, or an Imperial spy, in which case she and her crew would be summarily executed.

As if sensing the warlord's dilemma, a dangerous-looking Rodian moved to his side, hand on the hilt of his lightsaber and a cruel glint in his pitch-black eyes. If Wolfe gave the order, Tsesh Ovrak would inflict terrible horrors upon the smuggler and her crew.

    Unknown Planet Near Mara Corridor
The combination of Kyle Raymus' strategy of using the grenades and the artillery fire from Elaine's artillery, tore through the decrepit Droidekas and B1 battle droids like a lightsaber through butter. Hundreds of droids lay broken and shattered in the trampled grass, parts scattered all over the place. This forced the surviving droids to retreat, giving the expedition time to tend to their dead and wounded, regroup and plan their next move.

Orders came from the Argent Dawn, which hung above the planet with its escorts, shielding the base from spaceborne attacks, as well as providing intel from above. The orders were to locate the droid base, disable its defenses and strip it of any assets which may be valuable for the fleet. The only problem was that the fleet's scans had been unable to figure out the location of the base, for reasons unknown.

Wherever the base was, something was camouflaging it from the fleet's sensors, but it had to be relatively nearby, as those droids couldn't have marched far in the condition they were in when they attacked. Several mineral deposits were located, however, including two veins of some kind of metal. Those might be good locations to scout, as the large metal deposits would camouflage a base from a ship's scanners.

Back at the droid base, the malfunctioning super tactical droid ran calculations of its situation, to determine a course of action.

<Running assessment of enemy strength.>
<Assessing strength and current condition of available defenses.>
<Warning. Likelyhood of enemy victory 68.927461836%.>
<Allied victory unlinely. Enacting Purge Protocol.>

Down below, in the guts of the base, equipment began to stir. Some of it was broken and failed to work, but enough equipment was running and there was enough material available. Machinery began to mix materials into a thick, grayish paste, which was then pumped through pipes and into the tunnels that led into the deepest part of the base. Blast doors closed, allowing the duracrete to pool up into the chambers and form a permanent seal. It would take several hours to completely fill in the tunnels, but after that, the duracrete would form a near-impenetrable barrier.

[member="Kainan Wolfe"]

This was a interesting man, sure she's seen plenty of military officers, commanders and such, but this one he held himself different. Not only was his uniform of something she had never seen but the way it fit him and that cape with those snarling wolf buckles...combine with that way he held himself with that deep voice he seemed fit for the position he was in

well Mr Wolfe, my ship does shipping jobs to and from different places. I'm sure my shop has passed through here once before then out just as quick though right now we were simply had a problem with the hyperdrive so we had to stop

She said, was the truth most it was a older ship so it's hyperdrive wasn't the best so she had stopped for a legit reason though in truth it was because she was running and hiding and this had been a random shot

my question is sir, is that when will me and my crew be on out way, we have a drop off date and my company is never later them a week

Kiso gave a quick salute to [member="Kainan Wolfe"], "eye eye sir" Turning away from the bridge am making way back to the turbo life she sent out orders to the reserve troops and her private squad. "I want drop ships and close air support loaded up and ready for deployment within 10 minutes, ground forces have hit a snag and need our help, double time men".

She received several conformation from the other squad leader, comprised of the regular army and marines, "Dixon, I want you and KK ready to leave as well, you will be coming with me to help, [member="Elaine Thul"], word has it the droids are pushing our troops back with their vast numbers, but if anyone know anything about strategies we are probably leading them into a trap". Threr was a short delay between the battle on the ground and the ship, so last she heard Thul was pulling back her troops at the arrival of droidekas.

Coming into the hanger all the drops ships and TIE reapers were ready for take off, "We head for the ground base, I want CAS to strike first and provide cover and confusion for the droids, lead the ones at the front away so our drop ships aren't targeted". Their were yes sirs all around, and one by one the pilots checked in, soon they were off, racing towards the planets surface. "[member="Elaine Thul"] we are on route to your posistion, what is your status, over".

The warlord shook his head, his Rodian bodyguard tensing a bit, perhaps in anticipation of the order to kill this woman and her questionable crew. The order never came, however. "I'm afraid that will not be possible, captain Armina," said the man, his tone grave. "You see, this is a classified location and its security must be insured. As such, I have a proposition for you and your crew. You will drop whatever contract you were on and assist with shipping supplies and construction materials from the fleet, to our base down below. Whatever your fee was for your previous contract, I will double it," he said, in a tone which made it clear that he would not take no for an answer.

Wolfe didn't believe for one second that this captain Armina's business was legit. No traders passed through this system and very, very few people even knew of its existence. She had to be a smuggler, there was no other explanation. Nevertheless, Wolfe could use resourceful people at his side and this wouldn't be the first time he pardoned a former criminal. In fact, the most infamous pardon he gave, was to his bodyguard, Tsesh Ovrak, a brutal murderer well known in the Dominion's criminal underground. The Rodian now served as Wolfe's bodyguard and was paid a generous fee.

"Right now, our forces are still securing the location, as we have run into some interference. But once the planet is secured, I intend for you to join the effort to ship necessary supplies from this Star Destroyer, to the planet's surface. We also have a mining vessel en-route, which will require the same kind of assistance once it arrives," the warlord said, as if the woman's acceptance of the offer was a foregone conclusion. "This is a legitimate and legal contract and I will pay you generously."

[member="Kainan Wolfe"]

She looked visibly unhappy, this man she couldn't seem to get out of, she was about to protest to him then stopped listening as her demeanor changed as she rubbed her chin

they were gonna pay me about 500,000, you that's quite a lot doubled but distributed among my crew and me that makes perfect!

Yea she was legal bit that was a front extra money came in from smuggling the less then legal items around made for good money usually, she closed her eyes and nodded a she chuckled before speaking yet again

your a smart man Mr Wolfe...thatway name suits you and I can't believe it if you told me you were born with it...you truly are a wolf, now then your right I don't exactly do legal business on the side in caught there. I accept your offer though I know the other choice would've put me out of business...permanently

She held her hand out to shake a s she smiled
