- Fast and Maneuverable: The ship comes with a powerful sublight engine and high performance thrusters that allow it to move very quickly and conduct pinpoint maneuvers as needed.

It is filled with various compartments throughout the ship and numerous mounting ports on the hull which have been have been built in such a way that the ship is very easy to modify to one's preference. This is not to say that the ship has been designed specifically to appeal to smugglers and the like, but the ship has been designed specifically to appeal to smugglers and the like.
- Low Armament: While individual ships can be modified after purchase with additional weaponry, the stock model of this freighter only comes with two laser cannon turrets: one on the dorsal side and one on the ventral side, each about mid-ships.

One of the few ships produced by Obsidian Star Aerospace for the open market, the Cheron Fast Light Freighter is a fast and maneuver light freighter designed for small shipping firms and individuals. It had been built to make adding after-market modifications as easy as possible, which has caused some critics to suggest that this ship is being marketed specifically to smugglers and other 'extra-legal' entities. Obsidian Star's media relations officer has replied with an official statement saying that the company would "never knowingly market products specifically geared toward illegal use, but anything that happens after the point of purchase is neither the business or liability of Obsidian Star Aerospace or its parent company, Obsidian Star Technologies."
