STRENGTHS
  • Advanced Stealth System: The Nightstalker Stealth Assault Cruiser has a stealth system that, when engaged, lowers the ship's ambient energy emissions to near zero levels. This causes the ship's sensor echo to appear much smaller, like that of a small asteroid or piece of space debris.
  • Communication Jammers: The Nightstalker has a powerful transmitter assembly that can broadcast a jamming signal for approximately 50,000 kilometers in each direction. This signal interrupts most basic communications tech in this area.
  • Adaptive Camouflage: The hull plating has been coated with pigment changing micro-projectors, which allows the crew to change the ship's color scheme to match their surroundings. For example, when flying in open space, the hull can be turned jet black with specs of white to simulate a normal space backdrop. This is not a true cloaking device and does not actually make the ship invisible, it just makes the ship more difficult to detect visually.
WEAKNESSES
  • Maintenance Heavy: The Nightstalker class stealth assault cruiser utilizes advanced state-of-the-art stealth technology. As such, it requires a high level of maintenance to work optimally. If maintenance is neglected, then the ship's various systems can quickly begin to malfunction to the point of being inoperable.
  • Inefficient Fuel Economy: Because of the power requirements needed for the Nightstalker's advanced stealth systems, the ship consumes fuel at nearly twice the rate of other ships of similar size used by the Silver Navy. This makes operating it for long periods of time expensive and difficult.
  • Low Hangar Space: The Nightstalker class stealth cruiser was designed to cross large distances quickly and quietly and to engage enemy ships where they least expect action. It is designed to conduct quick hit-and-run operations, and as such carries only a single squadron of fighter craft as a screen. Nightstalker Cruisers that find themselves cut off from the rest of their fleet/battlegroup may quickly find themselves overwhelmed by enemy fighter and bombers.
DESCRIPTION
(Describe some of the history behind the submission. Please provide a detailed account or link of each special feature that is listed in this submission. Give us some idea of how it might perform its function, what it excels against and what some limitations of it are. This is where you talk about your idea, flesh it out over at least a good-sized paragraph, and address some of the ways it might be used or abused. All miscellaneous descriptive elements go here, such as Cargo Capacity, Passengers, Consumables, Crew, etc. For especially powerful or ambitious submissions, a very thorough description is recommended.)
