SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Helmet: The helmet of the Katarn mk. II Armor is equipped with an internalized version of the OS-106 "Oracle" HUD and scanning device, which includes basic lifesign and energy scanning over a 50 meter radius, friend or foe HUD tagging system, nightvision and infrared vision as well as a standard-long comlink system
  • Plug-in ports - The suit also sports six plug-in power ports (two on the wrists, four on the chest plate), that allow for the user to plug in additional aftermarket combat accessories in order to enhance some of the suit's already present abilities or create new ones.
  • Camouflage System: The top portion of the durasteel plating has been coated with pigment changing micro-projectors, allowing the user to change their armor's color scheme to more closes match their surroundings. This provides a rough estimation of the colors of the backdrop and is not a true mirroring of the terrain around the user. This program can also be used to display preset unit markings and basic military type camouflage patterns.
  • Sound Dampening field - In addition to the sound-dampening materials that make up the suit, there exists a small sound dampening field generator in the suit's chest-plate. When activated, the dampening field prevents sound waves from being formed within in. This effect covers a small area in all directions of three meters around the suit's position. When activated, the wearer of the suit is essentially silent. This technology, however, is extremely draining to the suit's battery and can only be used for a total of 20 minutes before the suit will need to be recharged.

STRENGTHS:
  • Adaptive Camouflage: Using a coating of micro-pigmentation projectors, the user is able to change their armor's color scheme at will. They can use the suit's HUD scanner system to roughly adapt to the colors around them, or utilize a number of basic preset military camouflage designs.
  • Silent: The suit's sound dampening field, make the wearer essentially silent for short periods of time, but is extremely draining to the battery.
  • Resistant to Blaster and Kinetic Fire: The suit is highly resistant to incoming blaster and kinetic forms of attack.
WEAKNESSES
  • Maintenance Heavy: The Katarn Mk. II armor utilized advanced state-of-the-art combat technology. As such, it requires a high level of maintenance to work optimally. If maintenance is neglected, then the suit's various systems can quickly begin to malfunction to the point of being inoperable.
  • Highly Susceptible to EMP and ION Technology: The Katarn Mk. II armor uses a lot of very delicate and specialized technology and circuitry, all of which can be rendered inoperable with powerful enough ION/EMP strikes. Any Katarn users that are hit with a direct ION or EMP blast will see all of it's technology fail and become inoperable.
  • Highly Susceptible to Lightsabers: The Katarn Mk. II armor has no resistances toward lightsabers or weapons employing similar technology.
DESCRIPTION:

The "Katarn Mk. II" Combat Armor was created to be an updated, modernized version of the Armor used by the Antarian Rangers and the Order of the Silver Jedi. It borrows heavily on the aesthetic designs used by the Galactic Republic's Clone Trooper Legions during the Clone Wars and on previous designs used by the Antarian Rangers and the Silver Jedi. It has increased the level of modularity by adding several more electronic ports which allow users to add additional devices from the Obsidian Star line of combat accessories.
