• Description: Freelancers come in all shapes and sizes. After working enough low level OPA jobs to earn some trust sometimes the Alliance calls on mercenaries and privateers to 'handle' problems for them. While Alliance Command prefers to contract with those who share at least some of their ideology there are still those in it for the profit who are often little better than the ones they hunt.

• Combat Function: Mostly independents work alone or in small groups. They handle the kind of threats that Pathfinders aren't suited for. OPA mercs are either dispatched or hired on site to clear out violent darkside cults, combat piracy, raid Imperial facilities and whatever else the Alliance is willing to pay for. Freelancers are routinely offered extremely dangerous contracts on the off chance a desperate merc beats the odds.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
The OPA needs their kind of scum. It doesn't have the resources or legal mandate to handle every problem that needs handling and that's where freelancers come in. After earning the attention of Alliance Command some of the Outer Rim's most notorious operators have found themselves on missions alongside Judges and Partisans. Independent from the Resistance Network itself but still a crucial tool in their arsenal, hired guns are used to regulate all the chaos into something like peace.

Some are true believers but the Alliance doesn't need their devotion if they've got the proper expertise. For those who don't mind getting paid in aurodium coins the OPA will dole out small fortunes to keep the frontier at least relatively safe. Just don't be surprised when the job details call for some legendary heroics. Freelancers come from all corners of the galaxy.
