OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION

  • Intent: To create the future world and base of the Disciples of Bogan, as well as serve as the source of multiple future planned threads.
  • Image Credit: Credit Credit Credit
  • Canon: N/A
  • Permissions: N/A
  • Links: N/A
GENERAL INFORMATION

  • Planet Name: Occiania
  • Demonym: Occianian
  • Region: Wild Space
  • System Name: Occia
  • System Features: The Occia System has only a single planet, Occiania, located at the further edge of the habitable zone. Two moons orbit the world, one a volcanic celestial body, Milthrao, and the other an ice covered one, Julios. The center of the star system has a red giant, nearing the end of its lifetime. An asteroid field surrounds the world of Occiania, formed from the destruction of the worlds former third moon, and the broken wrecks of numerous different starships.
  • Location: Far end of the Corellian Run, Syvris Hex
  • Major Imports: Food, livestock, clothing.
  • Major Exports: Volcanic rock, diamonds, and refined and preserved ice.
  • Unexploited Resources: Alusteel ore.
GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION

  • Gravity: Twice Standard
  • Climate: Occiania is largely an arid world, with large stretches of frozen plains and snow covered mountains along much of the world's northern and southernmost regions. Along the equator a forest of dead trees can be found.
  • Primary Terrain: Frozen Plains, Mountains, Dead Forests.
  • Atmosphere: Type 2
LOCATION INFORMATION

  • Capital City: Throne of Bogan
  • Planetary Features: Scattered cities dot the mountains at the north and south poles of the world, built within the mountains themselves. These cities are the only stable source of urbanized life on the planet, with scattered roving tribal bands making their way through the snow covered valleys between the mountains between semi-permanent towns. Along the equator of the world is a forest of dead trees, seemingly constantly stuck in a state between growth and decay. A large temple complex is located within the equator zone, the seeming center of the massive forest, with scattered ruins surrounding the structure.
  • Major Locations:
    • Throne of Bogan: The Throne of Bogan is a massive, multiple kilometre tall structure, built both above and below the surface of Occiania. Serving as the central seat of authority for the Disciples of Bogan, as well as the planets nominal capital, the Throne is the largest construction on the planet, and easily visible from orbit. The area directly around the Throne of Bogan is the only source of living life on the planet, and a oasis of life surrounds the Throne.

    • 0f11dfcea3b79cdda89469d1aaa156fb.jpg

    • Forest of the Fallen: All along the equator of Occiania, a forest of dead trees litter the surface of the planet. Among the white oak bark of the trees lay the bones of all those who fell during the ancient flight from the Throne.
  • Force Nexus (Optional): Yes
Intent: To create a location for future use by dark side force users to explore as well as be the center of story threads moving forward.
    Nexus Name: Throne of Bogan
  • Nexus Alignment: Dark
  • Size: Large
  • Strength: Strong
  • Accessibility: The Throne of Bogan is located at the center of the Dark Forest, in a massive temple constructed inaccessible from the ground. Only aerial vehicles can enter the lowest levels of the Throne, and high wind speeds centered around the Throne prevent craft from approaching directly to the upper levels of the construct.
  • Effects: The Throne of Bogan serves as a gateway for the Dark Side of the Force to enter the galaxy. Dark Side energy covers most of the planet's surface, seen as a light purple mist, and has two general effects. The first regards Light Side users of the Force. After prolonged exposure on the planet, usually after less than a week, the Throne of Bogan will begin to drive them insane, shattering their minds and exposing them to the untempered Dark Side of the Force. For those who walk with the Dark Side of the Force, the Throne will enhance their bodies, giving them increased strength, endurance and clarity of mind, and allowing them to experiment and attempt new techniques that on any other world, might kill the user.

POPULATION

  • Native Species: N/A
  • Immigrated Species: Human
  • Population: Sparse
  • Demographics: Entirety human, divided between urbanized cities and rural tribal nomads.
  • Primary Languages: Galactic basic
  • Culture: Violence, strength, and a need for control dominate every aspect of Occiania society. Power is seen as the basis for society, and people congregate around those who wield enough power, either physically or politically, to protect them. Every day is spent with Occianians waking up and spending almost the entire day trying to put themselves in a better position. Murder, theft, and other dark crimes are not seen as wrong in Occianian society, but rather, a right of those who are strong enough to carry out the act against those who are weaker. Open chaos however is held barely in check by the gang leaders of the various cities, who form a sort of sudo-council. Occianians worship the Dark Side of the Force, though they do not know it as such. Those who show talent within the Dark Side tend to rise far quicker than others, with an almost reverence given to them, while those few who show inclinations towards the Light are almost always hunted down and purged, to prevent them from going on an insane destruction path.
GOVERNMENT & ECONOMY

  • Government: Anarchic Meritocracy-The Rule of Law is non-existent on a standardized basis, and lies entirely in the hands of those strong enough or influential enough to make the rules. Individual rules between various city states vary wildly.
  • Affiliation: Disciples of Bogan
  • Wealth: Low
  • Stability: Low
  • Freedom & Oppression: The people of Occiania live in a state of near constant anarchy and violence, with individuals forced to rely on each other, until one eventually betrays another. Individuals have extreme limitations put on them by their surroundings and situation, with little in the way of personal choices, except by those strong enough to fight for their own desires.
MILITARY & TECHNOLOGY

  • Military: Occiania has no standard military structure, with the individual city states raising militia forces when conflict inevitably erupts with other city states or nomadic tribes.
  • Technology: Technology on Occiania is a mixture of industrial and medieval, with various city states having the ability to either simply create swords and spears for weaponry, while others can develop rudimentary bolt action firearms. Technology within the cities is generally at similar levels to the age in which their weaponry is based on, while the nomadic tribes are stuck in a near stone age level of development.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION

Occiania was formerly an important religious world to the Jedi Order, in the ancient and early days of the organization. The Throne of Bogan, though it was not known as such then, was a great temple built by the Jedi to serve as a living connection to the Force, where they could meditate, study, and learn about the more mystical mysteries of the Force. The perfection of the world was kept in perfect balance, with a lush forest surrounding the equator, and well kept shrines dotting the various mountain ranges for Jedi, or other pilgrims, to travel to.

The peace of Occiania was shattered during the later years of the Jedi Civil War. Darth Nihilus, the Dark Lord of the Sith at the time, had been fighting a war of extermination against the Jedi, hunting them across the galaxy wherever they may hide. This inevitably led to the war coming to Occiania, where a contingent of Jedi and Republic soldiers set up defenses and prepared to defend the holy world.

While legions of Republic and Sith soldiers fought around the outskirts of the great temple, Darth Nihilus and his followers took the battle directly to the Jedi within the temple. Force users fought and died in great numbers throughout the halls of the temple, but it was the final act of Darth Nihilus that sealed the fate of the world. In the central chamber of the temple, the location where the galaxy and the Force were connected, Darth Nihilus struck down and killed fifty Jedi by his own blade. The deaths of so many Jedi, and the sheer destructive hatred of the Dark Lord of the Sith, led the Force connection within the temple becoming tainted.

Darth Nihilus and the few remaining Sith fled the planet as the destructive backlash of the corruption spread. Before they could withdraw their troops from the world, a Republic relief force arrived, and the ensuing naval battle saw massive casualties on both sides, and the eventual retreat of the Sith. The Jedi present in the fleet sensed the darkness spread across Occiania, and realized, sadly, that all those soldiers still trapped on the world were irrevocably tainted by the Dark Side of the Force. Occiania, by order of the Jedi High Council, was erased from all records, and the system declared a flight hazard.

On the surface of the world, the thousands of soldiers from the Republic and Sith, despite their lack of Force connection, sensed the horror developing within the temple. Waves of purple mist could be seen pouring from every opening of the temple, and both sides, without hope of rescue now, fled. The Republic forces fled to the northern mountains of the world, where a majority of the shrines were located, while the Sith troops fled to the south. Many on both sides fell to the taint of the Dark Side during their flight, and the blood crazed slaughter that followed created a sea of fallen that to this day still litter Occiania.

Within the mountains, the only seeming protection against the Dark Side fog, the few survivors began to establish more permanent settlements, and in time, developed to the society of Occiania that can be seen today.

I'll be conducting the first review for you. As you may be aware, planet submissions undergo a two-step approval process. First, a review with a Codex Judge. Second, a review with a Roleplay Judge or Administrator.

1. Image Credit.

The first link you have here is a Google search string. The second links go directly to the images themselves. The goal of this field is to give credit to the original creators of art work, when known. In this case, what you have is:
2. Region.
Region: Wild Space

Please link Wild Space here.

3. Unexploited Resources.
Unexploited Resources: Alusteel ore.

Alusteel is identified by Wookieepedia as an alloy (which corresponds with real world steel, which is an alloy manufactured by combining iron and carbon), so there wouldn't be a naturally occurring metal ore. I would recommend substituting this with a metal.

4. Force Nexus (Remove Template Instructions)
Force Nexus (Optional): Yes

Please remove the words (Optional) here, as that's meant to be part of the instructions for filling out the template and not part of the final submission.

5. Effects.
The first regards Light Side users of the Force. After prolonged exposure on the planet, usually after less than a week, the Throne of Bogan will begin to drive them insane, shattering their minds and exposing them to the untempered Dark Side of the Force.

As a reminder: Language that could be interpreted to force another player to do something they do not wish for their character is prohibited (Codex Rules, General Submission Guidelines). This appears to advocate for a specific result that is unavoidable, and therefore this needs to be toned down. I would propose removing the use of the word will and superimposing, instead, may or can.

6. History.
The history seems to solely focus on the Jedi Civil War period. At what point in galactic history was Occiania rediscovered? Or has that yet to happen and will happen in roleplay?

Is there any significant history that has taken place on the planet since the Jedi abandoned it? For example, at what point in the planet's history did the modern city-states form? Or when did the current form of government come about?

Those are my thoughts. Please let me know if you have any questions. Otherwise, tag me when you have completed any edits.
