DESCRIPTION

A compounded food crisis brought on by a series of famines on agriworlds like Sacorria, and the Planeshift wrecking havoc on hyperlanes, spurred the GA Senate to convene an emergency session to plot future measures to ensure food stability for all Alliance citizens. In partnership with the independent Kiribian Systems Union, appropriations were made to promote broader agricultural development across Alliance space, reducing reliance on concentrated production hubs on a few agriworlds.

The Jedi Consular Mykel Dawson took advantage of these funds, using them to prototype a novel terraforming solution he had started working on during reconstruction efforts on Tython following the conclusion of the Core Wars against the Dark Empire. While the uses of osmotic barriers for terraforming was nothing new, he expanded their capabilities with a more robust design, and incorporated plasma-based sterilization systems from ship based life support systems for terrestrial agricultural operations.

Not only did his holistic system promote boosted agriculture production, but could also reverse the effects of pollution or other forms of devastation like blight on farmlands. Moreover, previous inhospitable environments deemed unfit for farming could be made arable. Best of all the effects were immediate, with improved germination and yields able to be seen in as little as a week. This was made possible by a flexible, modular system that could scale from a single farm to the coverage of an entire planet, all easily tailored for the end user.

After prototyping designs across multiple worlds, Mykel partnered with the Kiribians though their state owned firm KSA to further refine the design and initiate mass production. Because initial production had been seeded by public funds provided by both the GA and Kiribi, the final platform was offered to Alliance member worlds and eligible citizens with generous rebates in the pursuit of increased production and food stability. The NJO Argi Corps also employs Oasis for humanitarian missions within Alliance space and beyond, augmenting Force based remedies like plant surge with the tech based solution.
