  • HISTORY: "I do not remember the day I was born. Nor where I was born. What I do remember, however, is that this galaxy has never known peace." ~ Nyla Sallaros ~ 843 ABY

It is difficult to substantiate history for the long lived. Harder still to substantiate their presence in an ever evolving galaxy littered with species far less gifted, or cursed, with time inconsequential.

Born of a wayward K'paur and her human mate, a family subject to ridicule and hostility from the very same race with which she shared blood, Nyla was born on a formidably humid outer rim world. Promised a life she would never truly be allowed to live as she and her father were forced to flee from pursuers they could never truly understand to protect the woman that had brought them all together against the odds of a harsh galaxy and the xenophobic prejudices of the K'paur. She learned from an early age that even kindred kind could be more cruel than the predators that roamed known space.

Young, naive and inexperienced defined a girl guided through a galaxy unfamiliar to a mother she would soon be left alone with. Simple enough to be said that time is the first thing that those prone to long life learn is not nearly as extensive or kind as they are lead to believe. Friends came and went, family became a distant memory and a girl would lose her father long before she would even feel herself ready for the loss. A mild tragedy to some, but monumental to one still growing accustom a galaxy that her mother knew little about.

For it was without the guidance of the man who'd promised to show them every inch of the known galaxy, so long as he was able, that a mother and her child would be forced to adapt on their own.

Time continued to remain a bitter companion, but it was not time that would come to present itself as her greatest fear. Fear itself, and the hate of those extremely prejudice, would become her nightmares as the years went on. For at least several decades the young Nyla would come to understand that, even within a galaxy unknown to the K'paur, her mother would never cease to be hunted by the people she had chosen to stray from in selection of a life far different from the one chosen for her.

What little could be said of this time, what little any could grasp from the mind of a woman rattled by her experiences, was that somewhere in the Unknown Regions her mother was taken from her. The finality of being stripped of everything she'd loved a wave of pain strong enough to break any unfortunate enough not to be granted the chance for an escape. An escape that she had been granted, but feared to accept for at least a century while every fathomable crevice of her mind grappled with the reality she had come to understand.

No family, no friends and enemies she would never understand.

Salvation came, in time, in the form of the remnants of the then Jedi Order. Or an order of knights honorable to the code that had been passed for generations among those who chose to hold strong to fading beliefs. She turned to the escape her mother had prepared for her, found her way to the planet of Tython and those who had chosen to inhabit it while the rest of the galaxy continued to quarrel around them. It would be there, under the guidance of an aged Anzati that she would finally come to learn of the thing that she'd always known to be present with her and the entire galaxy at large.

She came to learn of the Force and would dedicate at least, as she cared to recount, the next several decades of her life to the practicing and understanding of the living Force. Few could say just where she came from, who she really was or what her true talents were. Only that she was a gifted woman with an understanding of the galaxy that few could grasp that had lived to recount their encounters with any species quite like her; though few believed her recollections and stories for lack of their own understanding and expressed misgivings.

What came next, much as many would expect, would come to be known as the greatest misfortune to ever befall the known galaxy within the minds that remembered the ancient annals of galactic history.

The Gulag Plague began to spread. People died en mass across the reaches of the galaxy without a single salvation in sight for those not locked away from the rest of the galaxy. It was a time that brought great pain and sorrow the Nyla, and one that would force her to do something she had promised herself she would only do if the situation proved dire enough. She collected what she could, those she could save and removed them and herself from the known galaxy in search of the space in which her mother was born; or at least something close to it that might provide shelter to those that would never have survived the Gulag Plague on their own.

And, as such, for the next several centuries nothing is known or understood of Nyla Sallaros' history. The Gulag Plague came and passed like a blanketing death seeking to purge the galaxy of those unfit to survive into a new and promising era. It was into this new era that Nyla Sallaros returned from her travels into extragalactic space without any sign of those whom she'd left the galaxy with, outside of the various trinkets and knowledge that she had ascertained or brought with her centuries prior.

Decades passed, she wandered the galaxy from Order to Order in an attempt to bring what she'd come to understand to those who would accept it or those who sought it. The galaxy had changed irrevocably, pain and death riddled the shadowy corners of worlds once again booming with life, and a woman no longer burdened by the pain of her past would turn to the newest rising tide of light the galaxy could provide as many came and fell before it.

The past was lost, but the future was yet to be.

APPEARANCE: Nyla is a woman who appears more human than K'paur. While she is hybrid in nature and both long lived and highly Force sensitive she presents very little externally that would provide one evidence of her K'paur lineage. She stands at five feet and nine inches, has an average but lean build for her height and is often seen carrying herself in a manner that befits a being much stronger and well built than she, herself is. This is often represented in the manner with which she dresses herself or postures herself to compliment her already slender figure.

What cannot be seen as easily are the heavily faded scars she hides from her experiences with her mother's people while outside of the known galaxy. It has been several decades to even a century since she last encountered the K'paur in their home space, but she still shows the occasional sign that they were quite apt to reject her for her mother's dealings many, many centuries ago. Because of this she rarely shows more skin than a moderated level of skin when dressing herself and nothing below the shoulder or above the mid thigh as to avoid presenting a part of her that she cares not for the galaxy to witness.

She carries herself with dignity and will often wear either traditional clothes or those of a Jedi, preferring to hold true to the status of sagely mystic that she has attained from her time spending years deeply attuning herself to the Force.

BOUNTIES COLLECTED: None as of yet.
  • PROS & CONS:
    Pros:

Proven Patience: After spending several decades, to even centuries, studying the manners of the galaxy and the living Force, Nyla has developed an extensively honed patience for any and all who might come to present themselves to her. Often granting her the ability to conduct herself even under immense pressure or stress.
Vigilant: While she has come to learn that peace is something that must be fought for, she has developed no shyness towards combat in regards to ascertaining that peace. She is a promoter of using aggressive methods only if they serve the greater good.
Long Lived: Due to her heritage as a K'paur hybrid she has lived a lot longer than most of those around her. While her exact age is unknown, nor the precise extent of her lifespan outside of rare debate, she presumes she'll live for some time longer.
Force Wealth: As a K'paur hybrid she was born with a naturally potent connection to the Force. While this was hardly enough to present to her her status as a strong Force sensitive, it was her time with the Jedi remnants on Tython and across the galaxy before her travels to the extragalactic that brought her to fully understand her wealth of Force access and knowledge.
Strong bones: Nyla is gifted with the strengthened bones of the K'paur though not nearly as extensively so as those that would be of pureblood descent; as such she does not possess any of the other strengthened physical features that would be associated.
    Cons:
Hazy Heritage: While she was raised by her mother and taught to understand just what she was, very little aside from that was taught to her by her mother prior to her mother's death at the hands of the K'paur who sought to erase her misgivings.
Light Sensitivity: Though it is not nearly as potent as that of pure K'paur, it is enough to cause her discomfort beyond normal means in situations that would only provide a mild distress to beings such as humans.
Second Heart: While she was born with the second heart that most K'paur are born with it serves only as a buffer to her already functional body. It stands as functionally redundant though it is likely possible that she would have difficulty surviving without it as it's redundancy has not been proven.
Bloodlust: Though not nearly as potent as that of a pureblood K'paur, Nyla has had to contend with mild bouts throughout her lifetime and still continues to while participating in combat.
Hot and Cold: Unlike pureblood K'paur Nyla suffers from very mild discomfort accompanying extreme changes in temperature. This ranges from sweating extensively as cold turns to hot or feeling excessively chilled when entering a cold environment when in a previously hot one.
