Question NPCs in Invasions/Rebellions

Copying this here on the request of Tefka.

In invasion/rebellion rules, it mentions that 'NPCs involved from either side do not contribute to either faction's victory'.
Does that mean dedicated NPCs additions to the narrative mean nothing, or that them 'winning/losing objectives' doesn't mean anything?

The spirit of the victory conditions aims towards "quantity doesn't matter" so no, they don't.

The story they're a part of does matter, though.

You can vastly outweigh your opponent in NPCs and still lose. *very easily, actually, if your story sucks and you're just hammering home NPC battalions, troops, etc.

Depends on the RPJ evaluating the victory conditions.

The system wasn't created for me to be able to give you black and white answers, regardless of grasping at straws for exceptional situations. It changes, every Invasion, depending on the Judges and the players.

The Red of Sinner any of these questions are based on RPJ assessment and what they deem the better story. It’s a subjective question.

That said, I don’t see how it’s any different than a PC sacrificing their ship and surviving.

Want a shot at story do what few are willing to do Kill your PC and keep them permadead.
