SETTING INFORMATION
  • Name: Nova Huricus | Fortress Giedfield
  • Classification: Fortress-City Complex
  • Location: Conviction
  • Affiliation: Kascalion Giedfield
  • Population: Sparse - Despite the monolithic size of the complex and the scores of buildings, only a mere three thousand organic residents consistently live within its walls due to the strict security policies imposed by Kascalion Giedfield. Most of these individuals - an estimated 7 to 3 - are elite guardsmen and servants, with the rest being members of the Giedfield family. Of course, the total population at any given time within the Fortress does change depending on which diplomats or military officers from the mainland are visiting, but these are never permanent placements. Because of the small number of organic life in contrast to the sheer size of Nova Huricus, a majority of the complex is in fact occupied by droids of all classes, with the most common being Two and Three. As a result of the constantly shifting schedules of the standard guardsmen, these droids are rarely, if ever, deactivated for rest and thus must undergo routine maintenance by the Giedfield family themselves to ensure they remain in top shape.
  • Demographics: Most of Nova Huricus' organic denizens are human, near-human, or natives of the planet, with a larger percentage being the latter being placed into the roles of Elite guards with the former two being placed as servants. However, while Kascalion has routinely displayed this acute favoritism for the natives of the planet over humanity and their cousins, it is not impossible to find Elite Guards of these species. In fact, a few in recent years have even been considered to be honor guards for Kascalion himself.
  • Accessibility: Despite it's relatively close distance to the Eastern Coast Access to Nova Huricus is restricted to only the highest levels of Conviction's political leaders and the Consortium's military leaders. Defended by a series of installations on the fortress itself and batches of aquatic mines, absolutely no one save for those and explicitly special exceptions can visit on pain of death or imprisonment.
  • Description: Easily identifiable by its four massive statues and grandiose building design, Nova Huricus is home of Kascalion Giedfield and his family. It comprises a large portion of the Great Sea off the Eastern Coast (measuring an estimated 907,240 meters) and is regarded as a place of worship by some on the planet due to the aura it gives off.
POINTS OF INTEREST
  • Lower Land: Measuring 212,634 meters in size, the Lower Land is comprised of eight rocky and lush landmasses created through advanced environmental sorcery. It houses the general buildings required to keep the complex up-and-running on a basic level.
    • Sea Leviathan Hangars: A series of hangars only large enough hold at most three frigates each. By way of the throngs of Class 4 droids present day in and day out, it can be argued that they are the most protected areas in the complex, despite seeing such infrequent usage.
    • Seabed Ports: Naval ports that act as the main location for the fortress' importation of supplies as well as diplomats and officers from the mainland. Because of the lack of threat of invaders by way of the sea, these naval ports are not as guarded as the Hangars, although do still see postings of Class 4 droids and elite guardsmen. The large ships that frequent these ports are the only of their kind, running on a combination of hydro and solar power.
    • Tide Apartments: The standard housing for non-House Giedfield visitors located intermittently in clusters across the lower landmass underneath the four statues. They are described as luxury suites that provide every amenity possible for a diplomat and officer and on account of their limited occupancy, they are always clean and restocked for the next inhabitant.
    • Rahn Towers: Operating dual systems for hangar and port control and standard fortress security, these towers are the first line of defense and are armed with top-of-the-line laser cannons and turrets.
  • Upper Land: Measuring 56,702 meters in size, created similarly to the Lower Land, and held aloft by four statues alchemized to be indestructible to normal means, the Upper Land is lush and vibrant with numerous pathways for jaunts and a multitude of walled-off parks.
    • Stormholme: The main housing for Kascalion Giedfield, Stormholme is the single largest building of the complex, occupying nearly the entirety of the Upper Land. It is comprised of nearly 200 buildings constructed of mythra-reinforced steelstone, with most buildings serving as the personal homes for Giedfield family members and guests of the highest esteem, such as apprentices and non-Consortium faction leaders.
      • Aeos Serenity: One of the densest libraries in the Known Galaxy, Aeos Serenity is the largest and centermost portion of Stormholme and contains mass numbers of entries. The content of each differs greatly from complex details of planets and peoples to simple information of weapons and artifacts.
      • Cannon Installations: As part of the defense of the fortress, Stormholme is outfitted with numerous retractable anti-air cannons capable of destroying frigates and cruisers with sustained blasts.
  • The Titans: Four massive statues each measuring 159,476 meters in size, the Titans have been alchemized to be indestructible whilst serving as the main drawing point for any possible invaders as part of the defense. The identities of these Titans have been a matter of speculation by all who visit, with some claiming them to be ancient Force Lords or Heroes from Conviction mythology.
    • Housing Installations: Interestingly, despite the main purpose of the Titans, each bears internal and external rooms meant to serve as the housing for Nova Huricus' servants and the operations run by the numerous droids. The external installations are protected by advanced shielding systems while the internal installations are defended by automated turret systems.
  • Sanctra Osris: It is unknown to the Giedfield family when exactly this construct was built in the years it took Kascalion to build Nova Huricus some odd decades ago. All that is known to them is that it is located directly underneath Nova Huricus and is seemingly his pride and joy. Containing countless relics of the Force and bearing a labyrinthine design that seems to shift every second, Sanctra Osris is the birthplace of the Paths developed by the Giedfield family since Kascalion first took the identity. As opposed to the knowledge within Aeos Serenity, Sanctra Osris' contains eldritch information on the Force, especially the Dark Side. Also located in the deepest level of this vault of knowledge is a (now) controlled rift to the Netherworld, inadvertently opened by Giedfield several hundred years ago during a failed ritual. What lies beyond this rift is unknown as none save for Kascalion and his wife, Jain, have ever passed beyond it.
SECURITY
  • High: While the fortress bears numerous high-tier emplacements of turrets, cannons, and mines, it lacks a proper standing army to defend it. Those that are defending it boast combative skills on a heightened level, including the Class 4 droids, but are of a small number compared to any major invasion force. This means that should invaders make landfall onto the fortress, the manned defense is limited and those fighting for the fortress are at a greater risk of failing the defense.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION [To Be Developed Further in Threads]
Built several decades ago prior to Kascalion's permanent return to the planet, Nova Huricus is a sprawling complex that serves as the Devil's primary home away from the meanderings of Empires and Imperial Orders.

The purpose of Nova Huricus was made apparent upon its completed construction when Kascalion banished all denizens of Conviction from ever visiting it save for explicit allowances. Whereas his home on Credence serves as his place of military strategy, further development of his Force abilities, and Dark Side rituals, Nova Huricus is his place of solitary rest, relaxation, study, and academic advancement.

Each piece was constructed by Kascalion out of alchemy and sorcery (the landmasses included), which nearly killed him due to the massive amounts of energy he needed to expend for such a feat - the statues, whose identities remain unknown, were alchemized only recently to strengthen them to near-indestructible standards.

Today, Nova Huricus is occupied by a number of elite guardsmen, droids, and Kascalion's ever-expanding family that has remained loyal to him and his cause for millennia. And within its halls, they all sit and live in a quiet solitude away from the chaos wrought by those that seek to control the Galax - a sanctuary unlike any other.
