Jace had listened to the other senators speak he was thinking it seemed everyone had spoken their peace atleast in his mind now half of it was jabs at other senators. And restating previous statements but senator Provost made an excellent point about sending a military escort or a jedi or two but what jedi if they where going to send any preferably not any of the council members. Sending a jedi councilor and a senator to gather senator organa would be reckless even if Alicio's wife would protest it would be wiser to have less important figures act as security for the senator who went to oversee the transfer.

It sounds unanimous that we will bring senator organa back home to the alliance and his loving family who I assume misses him dearly I say we put this to a vote. And I volunteer to oversee this and speak on the galactic alliances behalf although we should send as few significant people to this meeting as possible. To diminish the risk of further capture of personnel significant to this government and the ability to run it. Otherwise this might be repeated and make the alliance look weak to not only to the mandalorians but also other enemies those known and otherwise. He spoke plainly he never liked speeches and grandstanding he preferred action. Over everything else but he was voted into this position and he would do the job although he preferred not to die for it.

"I agree with Senator Provost and Senator Colis. It is our duty to see to the agreement as arranged. If someone is going to escalate the situation during a diplomatic meeting, let it be the Enclave. It might sound callous, but it will win us the PR war if we show in good faith to an arrangement and they break it themselves. They will look as savage as you suggest and we have even further justification to push into Enclave territory to end this war swiftly. Challenge the homefront, let public support for their aggression wane from within."

"Though I would request that you allow me to handle this delivery on my own. I've lived my life for this Alliance in the military and I will put my own life on the line to help return one of our own."
Corrine said, her final statement addressing Jace colis personally.

"How can we even begin to negotiate until the mandalorians respect our strength?"

Senator Hydia narrowed his eyes at the bleeding hearts. This was a dangerous galaxy. Nowhere more cutthroat than the Galactic Senate. He clutched his torc of office. Dassid did not know if he could always count on Natasi Fortan Natasi Fortan but in this moment their interests were aligned.

"By all means," the duros said, "Make every effort to ensure Senator Organa's safe release, but our diplomatic overtures have been treated with scorn at every step. They think we are too weak."

An imperious gaze swept over the august chamber in which they gathered to debate matters of state. His extravagant robes caught the light so well that Das seemed to almost glow. If Chancellor Auteme Auteme had a team of stylists they were certainly in shambles.

"I agree with Senator Calgar. If even the Jedi cannot negotiate a peace, then we must strike back. Until the Enclave sees we won't back down I fear this bloodshed will only continue."

Casteban raised his voice once more.

"I repeat my earlier assertion. The trade should happen not between individuals or groups, but between fleets. This will allow us to answer any treachery in force.

Senator de Montaigne is very brave, but unnecessarily so. The trade can be made in full view of our war fleet. Only then can we be sure it will be conducted without betrayal.

Their fleet. Our fleet. Arrayed in the strength that Mandalorians respect.

The exchange occurring in the space between."

if they're watching anyways

"What the Mandalorians think of us," she said, "is of limited consequence. Let them think we are weak.

"This seems like an easy deal. That being said -- I won't pretend to be an expert on prisoner exchanges and negotiations of this kind. I would suggest the esteemed members of this august body do the same.

"Instead I will move this matter to the Ministry of State, and, if they deem it necessary, the Ministry of Defense and GADF. Prisoner exchanges are routine, and if we're not exchanging anything that is of actual value to us for someone that is, then there's not much debate to be had. Though, in truth, I'd approve such an exchange if it were for any citizen of the Alliance. We lose nothing by attempting negotiation here. But again, I will leave such matters to the people whom we employ and rely on for this exact purpose.

"As Senator Fortan has both rapport with Senator Organa's captors and feels there is a moral debt to be paid, I will recommend her as the Alliance's representative if the Ministry of State deems it necessary to have a Senator present for the exchange.

"If there is no alternative motion, then I motion to dismiss this matter and move it to the appropriate authorities. Do I have a second?"

"I second the motion. This has been a profound waste of time and we have achieved nothing but pointless argument." Corrine said, feeling quite irritated with the entire exchange. She had her say, admonished those that wished to commit genocide, and offered to handle the matter. Whatever was done, would be done regardless of the Senate's choosing though. It was a questionable moment in the floor, given the time taken and the lack of consensus reached.

i agree with auteme and second her statement lets leave this in more capable hands. he stated as he Sat down this meeting had come to an end not to soon for jaces liking although he agreed with corrine that this was a waist of time for the most part senator organa was a valued person and voice in these halls even jace could see it. But beauracracy had to happen for its own sake he would wait back and see what would happen.

So... the august body of the Senate was doing what they did best.

The only bright spark in this was that there was a general consensus that a Senator could not be hung out to dry. Though Casteban had his doubts that anyone would share such concern if it was him in a Mandalorian cell.

Of course... he would never be in a Mandalorian cell. The parade of Senators moving through Mandalorian hands had been ludicrous to him.

But the thing that irked him more than anything was the Senate's unwillingness to make a firm statement over this debacle. Most wanted a quiet, polite exchange. A few wanted blood. But Casteban was convinced that the situation demanded neither blood nor politeness, but a show of Iron strength.

A show which would probably not happen, now.

So be it.

Those who didn't care about an opponent's opinions during wartime would learn that folly soon enough. This wasn't a display of feigned weakness.

This was just weakness.

"Obulette votes Nay. This is a Senator in the hands of an enemy." Casteban said.

He would be outvoted, of course. But he would never apply his vote to a plan that involved shrugging off the fate of a Senator for others to resolve on behalf of the Senate.

Organa was a vocal critic of Casteban's proposals, but that was beside the point.

He was one of them.

The Senate should be lions in this matter.

Not sheep begging for some other shepherd to herd them.

If I’m not careful, I might finally learn to enjoy these cushions used in these Senate Pods, Damian quickly stood back up as the Senate proceedings were coming to a close and their vote was imminent. There were some notes of consideration that Damian did take note of several Senators were worried about the appearance of weakness. A credible concern, after all it was all his father ever worried about when it came to politics. A lesson he taught me whenever I expressed interest in politics. Damian understood their concern, but there should also be an importance of who was perceiving said appearance.

If someone can’t see the colour blue, then I’m quite wasting time wearing blue. Regardless, Damian already began to count the votes in favor and it was clear the approval needed for this hostage exchange would pass.

“Aye,” Damian chimed in with his own vote before turning around and heading back to his office.

I need to sit on something more comfortable. Damian always assumed his father was exaggerating about the terribleness of the seat cushions inside the Senate Chambers.
Clearly he wasn’t.
