STANDARD FEATURES
  • All standard systems.
ADVANCED SYSTEMS
  • Esoteric Navigation Suite - A Navsphere takes the place of navigational computers and regular engines are replaced by an extensive array of Gravpulser Shardforms supplemented by a subdrive. A Hyperanchor allows pyramid ships to enter hyperspace while remaining stationary.
  • Stealth/Avoidance Suite - A cloaking device supplemented by advanced ECM systems, 'Inkwave' Gravpulser Shardforms to disable or weaken interdiction fields, state-of-the-art tractor beam countermeasures, and a variety of secondary systems. Pyramid Ships are equipped with their own Gravity Well Projectors for the rare occasions when they want to pick a fight - alternatively, close coordination with the hyperdrive allows pyramid ships to spool-up their hyperdrive within an active gravity well, disabling their projectors at the last moment for a sudden escape.
    • The interior of a pyramid ship is notoriously difficult to scan; conflicting sensory data and shifting layouts are commonplace.
  • Production Suite - An Atomic Forge and various supplementary recycling systems, as well as the advanced facilities required to synthesise Solid State Visium for the primary reactor; the latter is typically fuelled by scooping stellar mass from main-sequence stars.
  • Discovery Suite - An elaborate array of sensors, from cameras to a crystal gravfield trap, provides pyramid ships with a nearly unparalleled awareness of their surroundings. Extensive laboratories outfitted with biosculptors and other advanced devices are common.
  • Extensive electronic warfare capabilities, encrypted communications systems, and the like.
  • Pyramid Ships are typically commanded by a fiercely-defended Great Prime.
STRENGTHS & WEAKNESSES
  • Slippery Eel: A slew of advanced systems render pyramid ships remarkably difficult to pin down, doubly so by capital ship standards.
  • Lone Wolves: Pyramid ships are exceedingly rare - bordering on irreplaceable - and have only a highly limited to bring other vessels with them on their somewhat unconventional journeys; the cloak only covers them, the hyperanchor cannot hold other capital ships, etc.
DESCRIPTION
It is rare indeed for Greystone to field capital ships, but rarer still for them to stand and fight. The pyramid ships, while quite capable in their own right, are no exception to the latter. While as armed and armoured as any other cruiser, their true purpose is to serve as mobile strongholds from which the galaxy can be scrutinised and catalogued; as such, nearly all such vessels are outfitted with extensive laboratory facilities.

No two pyramid ships are identical, not even in external dimensions; each is commissioned for a specific purpose and sized and equipped according to the challenges it is liable to face. If a purpose is rendered moot or its bloc of sponsors fractures, it is liable to be reconfigured to fit other needs.

As such, the total number of pyramid ships in existence is... unclear. Nevertheless, seeing more than two in one place is nearly unheard of.
