SPECIAL FEATURES
  • See below.
STRENGTHS
  • Interdict Me Not: Once activated, Gravpulsers 'spool-up' a contained gravimetric anomaly many times stronger than the 'knots' in space-time used in repulsorlift technology. Once fully charged, it is released in a 'wave' of cascading gravitic disruptions barely noticeable to organics and all but the most sensitive of technology - technology that notably includes interdiction field generators, which are often disabled outright.
  • Greased Lightning: Even if not fully disabled, Gravpulsers often generate enough interference to briefly allow jumps to hyperspace.
WEAKNESSES
  • Proximity Matters: The closer a Gravpulser is to the interdiction field generator, the more likely that it will be disabled or even destroyed, but conversely the ship carrying the Gravpulser will be less likely to be able to slip away in the disruption if the interdiction field remains intact.
  • Gravitic Hazard: If a Gravpulser is destroyed while 'spooling-up', there is a good chance it will collapse into a temporary microsingularity.
  • Size Matters: The smaller a vessel (and by extension its Gravpulser) the less likely it is to fully disable an interdiction field.
DESCRIPTION
Fair fights, symmetrical warfare, and never retreating might sound good to some people, but the Shadows who presided over Greystone Mercantile were far more inclined to 'tactically reposition' their way away from danger. Unfortunately, technologies had been developed to entrap vessels in the vastness of space, preventing their retreat into Hyperspace. That simply would not do - 'stand and fight' was nothing more than a last resort.

Their method of accomplishing this feat was somewhat arcane and somewhat reliable. Specialised Gravshapers release a pulse of some sort, which under ideal circumstances tanks the interdiction field allowing everyone to flee. If semi-successful, a distorting is created, allowing the vessel to flee.

Obviously, vessels without Gravpulsers would be left behind both literally and metaphorically, in such a situation, but that's life (and possibly death).
