ADVANCED SYSTEMS
STRENGTHS
  • Testbed: The SET is equipped with some of the most advanced weapons, armor, and subsystems Alge Imperial Shipyards Engineering can produce, making it a significant threat to any foe.
  • Supercarrier: Like all Sykes-class fleet carriers, the Sykes Testbed has cavernous hangars can support a very large starfighter complement.
  • Grand Flagship: Sykes-class fleet carriers have powerful command and control suites and an advanced communications array, enabling admirals to manage the actions of even large fleets with ease.
  • Super Shields: All Sykes are equipped with multilayered self-regenerating shielding including an ion-resistant outer layer, making them highly resistant to most conventional attacks.
WEAKNESSES
  • Bantha in Space: Sykes-class fleet carriers are large, sluggish and slow to turn, making them easy targets for starfighters and larger warships alike if caught unescorted.
  • Decapitation: The relatively narrow “neck” of the Sykes-class is a weak spot that can be exploited to split the carrier in two with concentrated fire.
  • Thin Skin: Though heavily shielded, Sykes-class fleet carriers are lightly armored for their size.
DESCRIPTION

The Sykes-class fleet carrier is Alge Imperial’s second ever venture into Star Destroyer-sized warships.
Like the slightly larger Cato-class, the Sykes is a resilient large carrier design intended to form the center of fleets or battlegroups. Unlike the Catos, the Sykes is a pure fleet carrier, sacrificing heavy firepower for enlarged hangars. Despite their strong shielding, Sykes-class fleet carriers are not intended to charge headlong into enemy fleets, instead relying on its powerful air wings to eliminate enemy capital ships at extreme range.

Notably, the Sykes-class fleet carrier is the result of the Caragachi Commonwealth’s first official contract with AISI. The high endurance and resilience of the Sykes-class is a clear reflection of Caragach’s ambition to assert its influence abroad in a lasting manner. Additionally, the vast hangars that are standard to the Sykes-class give Caragachi admirals more flexibility than they would have with a battleship of equal size. For instance, the content of the Sykes’ starfighter complement can be arranged to best suit a specific mission or battle and swapped out between engagements, giving an admiral the freedom to perform radically different missions from a single ship.
