New Beginnings [SJO]

It was a new year, it was time to get the padawan clans gathered, thought Celeste.

And so, the headmaster of Silver Rest decided that a get-together was, indeed, in order. She was aware that there were some newcomers to the Order as of late, Celeste wanted to greet them personally and ensure that they were well set for their journey. Not only that, but she figured this would be a nice chance for members new and old to mingle.

An invitation was posted:

Come gather 'round the bonfire, enjoy the company of your fellows! A meet and greet, sponsored by the Padawan Clans of the Order will be held in the courtyard. If you have not thought of joining a clan, this is the perfect time to explore their offerings.

Each member that attends will have the opportunity to craft a meditation charm! Snacks provided.

It was an important activity, one that required some thought and a bit of skill. There were a number of younglings that wished to make their own charm, too... but they did require some assistance. Celeste hoped that some of the older members in attendance might wish to help some of their youngling friends with this task.

The courtyard was set with a few long tables and chairs. There were trays of supplies at the ready, leather strings, clasps, bits and bobs for decoration... and a few special trays of meditation crystal shards. A small sign sat on each table, it read:

“Make your own Meditation Charm – choose a crystal, add clasp, string onto leather necklace, decorate to your liking.”

As promised, there were also snacks.

A table was reserved for a bit of goodness: fresh fruit slices and a vegetable tray. There were also a batch of homemade cookies for good measure. Celeste's own son, Atticus, was there, already pointing to the sweet treats.

“Not yet, Atti...” She shook her head, “We've got to wait for the others to arrive.”
[OOC: New members & Padawans, come join in and make your own amulet! Any SJO member is welcome to join in :) ]

Seeing the posted invitation, Reggie decided that it would be nice to join in the festivities. Meeting new people and catching up with old friends was always nice. Having others who may not have joined a Padawan clan yet was also interesting. The Padawan remembers when he decided on the clan that he would join, thinking hard on which one spoke to him most.

Reggie arrived to the get-together in simple clothing. He immediately noticed [member="Celeste Rigel"] and her son who he hasn't met before, which pushed him to greet the Master.

"Hello Master Rigel. Hello young one. I hope you have been doing well."

The Padawan bowed to both of them, a pleasant smile on his face.

"I want to thank you for putting together this gathering. It looks as if you have everything together, but is there anything else that I could possibly help with?"

Yuroic was dressed in his dark green Jedi robes. He donned his self-awarded prize winning smile and looking around the room, noting that Master Rigel was one of the first people, setting things up. He grabbed a biscuit and held it in his mouth as helped move things in place, mostly chairs before he munched on the biscuit. Today was a day for Padawans in the different clans to have bonding and experience sharing time among themselves. It was important to socialise with others Yuroic thought. He was interested to see if [member="Seth Brackson"] his Padawan would appear at this event.

Being a prefect for his Padawan clan, he stood around ready for others to come and say hello and act as an anchor for those who were especially shy around new people. Yuroic leaned against the wall and looked at the craft table with a smirk. It was a nice idea, not what he would have done but he wasn't much of a art and craft person.

Eustachya had yet to be inducted into a padawan clan even though she was the learner of Master Rhane Varless. Admittedly, though, it hadn't been for very long, and she had relatively recently decided to amend her path anyhow. Thus, there had been little time for such things between her period of self-reflection, the Life Day celebrations, and her training.

Plus, she hadn't formally met Master Rigel yet.

Maybe today was the day. But, in any case, meeting some more of her fellows, older or younger, would be very welcome.

Upon entering the courtyard, Eustachya's gaze gravitated to the well-supplied tables. After approaching, she read the sign at the the head of one of them. "Hmmm..." she mused aloud to herself. At least beading should be easier that weaving or potting, two of the art forms she had tried her hand at with her mother what seemed like a lifetime ago now.

Holli Harper watched the festivities from the utterly useless cover of a small bush - not-at-all hidden from view, despite intentions.

A young adult girl - of the Aria, an exotic race from Bothan space, she was a strange creature to behold. Human in torso and facial features, she had a pair of beautiful, white feathered wings in lieu of arms, as well as avian legs. She had a lithe and gymnastic figure, her feminine features far from prominent, and a slightly clumsy air about her.
She had a girlish nordic complexion, pale and cool, with sharp blue eyes - made boyish by her short haircut, and the aviator cap she wore.
In lieu of Jedi robes, she wore thick layers of clothes, a jumper and a skirt the foremost among them, all crowned by a thick, large scarf around her torso.

The reason for her hiding was most simple - for though she had been here a while, and though she was studious and hard working in her duties and training, when it came to remembering faces and names - well she just plum couldn't do it.

So she stood behind a tree debating furiously with herself whether or not she ought to join in. More than anything, she wanted the heat of the campfire - her people were born on a summer world, and the cold of the night stung her even in such thick clothes.

Making a tapping noise as she did so, she hopped from one foot to another.

Such was the way of Holli Harper when it came to people - utter indecisiveness.

Losing is tempoary, giving up is permanent.
Sukai had not been a padawan for a while but the whole crystal making was kind of up her ally. She had been taught the basics and of amulet making from a alchemist in the ORC and from the looks of the invitation [member="Celeste Rigel"] was looking to have some of the more experienced knights and master present to help out with those in need of assistance.

She wore her usual long pink kimono robe, walking calmly toward the currently arranged group, giving a small wave to [member="Reggie Faayare"] as he talked with the grand master and her child. It was nice to see kids having fun, come to think of it her younger sister was currently at the temple, probably sleeping considering her age, nap time was important.

[member="Yuroic Xeraic"] was present much to her surprised, it was always strange to see the dark robed and mature man at things like this, quite a contrast to his looks and whole appearance. She often wondered what the man was like before the whole goth archer thing took over his life, and the whole losing an arm. The other familiar face was that of [member="Eustachya"], she was new but someone Sukai could recognize easily enough, she had a very refined and unique cultural feel about herself.

Over all though nothing was really new, the way things had been described in the invitation Sukai expected there to be more new faces to interact with, so far only Eustachya was the only one she could consider to be new. A quick look around confirmed her thoughts, well sort of, during the small sweep of the area a certain individual stood out. Just off to the side of the main group and activities area stood quite an interesting character, one who was currently trying to hide behind some foliage.

Was this a new padawan? She was unsure but regardless attempted approach the women, stepping slowly as to not case any fuss. "Um excsuse me, are you by any chance one of the new Padawan in the order"? She spoke slowly as to not seem threatening but also so the women could properly understand her through the accent she had.

It was hard to come to these sort of things when you were jaded, even harder when you knew you were and were forcing yourself to go in an effort not to be jaded anymore. She just couldn't get excited anymore, especially with the knowledge of what most the children she would see would go through in the fight against the Sith and other empires. The ideal was that such wouldn't happen, that peace would reign, but... Domino quashed those thoughts and tried to put on a smile that didn't look sickly, this wasn't the time to be fatalist.

A Cyclops probe beeped at her from where it was hovering near her shoulder and she resumed walking towards the gathering. She'd brought the pink and white thing to amuse the children with and hopefully distract from her stern features. Myunnah would have been her preferred companion but she didn't feel that bringing her along would have been the right idea at all. Eventually she would and then she'd find out which was funnier, all the padawans cowering in fear of her or them crawling all over and riding her once they realized she wasn't going to eat everybody.

She got to the edge of the gathering and stopped having a chuckle, she didn't know anybody, great. Then again, all she really knew were Matsu and a few of the original Silver Jedi, she knew of a lot of them, but not enough to actually be comfortable with them. Instead she started eying up the crafts table.

Holli could not help but give the lightest of gasps when Sukai approached her. Her hiding spot was ingenious! Foolproof! How had she been so easily spotted when there was so much more going on that her own presence?

A closer look at Holli would reveal her to be in her late teens, and that what appeared to be hair on her head was in all actuality down. Moreover she had no lightsaber to her hip, but rather a beautifully crafted Jedi Longbow on her back, sleeping but ever ready.

She opened her mouth once to speak, but little more than a note came out - a single, haunting note of song that seemed on its own to carry the weight of a sentence.

Then she spoke properly; "No, I wouldn't really say I'm new. I've just never really gotten to know everyone properly. I've had a lot of catching up to do, you see? My people don't keep records or histories."

Her voice was indescribable - for every syllable was a note, every sentence a phrase, every paragraph a song, woven together in an enchanting melody.

"I'm Holli Harper, a Padawan - as you say - and one of the Aria, the Songfolk. It is a pleasure, truly."

Jasper Candos was interested in this event but not the reason you would think.

Jasper was interested in the Jedi masters and knights that were here. He wanted to talk to them, to help him better understand the force and gain any insight he can gain from them. He was also interested in the amulet that he could make. He knew that it could help him with his connection to the force but he didn't know to what extent. It worried him but he felt like he could take the chance without losing anything other the time needed to make one.

As for other people there, Jasper wasn't too keen on meeting and talking to the other padawans at the event and he didn't like big gatherings like these. Mostly because he felts like he was a big target in a crowded area like this with someone watching him and waiting to make their move on him. He didn't want to show any signs of nervousness, but also didn't want people thinking he was too lax or not focusing on what around him. It was really difficult for him since he hadn't been in an event with this many people before in a while. He looked over at some of the padawans, recognize some of them from a few classes and walking around the temple which made him feel more at ease. At least he could take comfort in knowing he knew some of the people there. The tension inside him began to ease up on him as he walked around the event, taking a look at the decorations that were hung up. They were really good decorations, he admitted that.

After a few seconds of thinking, he decided to wait and see who else was going to make an amulet. He knew the Jedi masters and knight won't do it as it just didn't make sense to him since they already had a good connection to the force as it. He just knew that some of the other padawans will and until then he waited and wanted to see who would be the first.

Seth had been thoroughly studying the invitation sent out by [member="Celeste Rigel"] a bit ago. Contemplating the contents of it. Personally, Seth did technically have a set of meditation stones for focusing.. And other applications. Though these had been a gift, in a sense, from his first mentor. Seth was mildly curious to how a meditation pendant was constructed.

In addition he also recalled his current mentor [member="Yuroic Xeraic"] had encouraged Seth to attend. If not on the principle of the potential studies alone. As both he and his mentor could agree. In a sense that there was more pressing subjects. With which Seth could be dedicating his time towards. This was a good opportunity for Seth to start getting acquainted with individuals who he someday would be working along side.

That was probably the largest reason. Seth was stirred to come forth and interact here. Dressed in charcoal grey robes, and black pants. The young man studied the crafts table. Then scoped around for individuals expressing interest in it. [member="Domino"] seemed to be observing the table from a short distance. Though Seth wasn't entirely certain how much she was intent on being approached. Not because he personally considered her hostile. Though because to an extent it looked like she was placing on some sort of mask. It didn't mean that she was ill willed, just that she had some sort of nature to hide. Seth had lived off the streets long enough to guage when someone was trying to place a front.

Also at the table. More closely to it in fact. Another woman was also was standing. Seth was starting to realize. How many individuals were about whom he truly did not know. Though again that kind of was the point for being here in the first place.

Seth then turned his attention. When he caught the last sentence of a enchanting voice. Expressing something about song folk. The melody of which the individual used to speak. Did indicate why a species might be named that. So, Seth walked in the direction it came from. Noticing ( [member="Holli Harper"] and [member="Sky'ito Yumi"] ) two women were in a discussion with one another. Seth contemplated entering the discussion they were having.

Seth finally decided against it. Out of the notion it might be perceived as rude. Though he would keep note of the woman who spoke in melodies. As he decided she was someone on his list of people whom he needed to meet at least briefly this evening. Seth doubled back and approached the area [member="Eustachya"] was currently standing. Then looked down to the amulets. "Hello." He spoke briefly while he kept a respectable distance between them. Though also was close enough. That as he turned his head to her. It would be clear who he was addressing with the single word greeting. He was testing the waters to see how to best proceed with the conversation.

Celeste watched as her young son displayed a frown, he'd been excited for the cookies all morning. However, their first guest arrived just a moment later, and Celeste gave Atticus a small nod, indicating that he could go ahead. The boy grinned and plucked a cookie from the tray, and settled at a table to nibble the treat.

“Greetings Padawan Faayare, good to see you again!” She smiled, nodding. She recognized Reggie from previous missions, a Padawan of her own clan – Bergruutfa. Inwardly, she was glad that someone was here to represent them. “Let's see... we do have some younglings that are hoping to make their own charms today, they might need some assitance. Otherwise, please feel free to mingle – and do be sure to make something for yourself.”

Glancing away, she noticed several others on approach. Celeste offered a respectful nod to [member="Yuroic Xeraic"] and a warm smile to [member="Eustachya"]. She was also very pleased to see some new faces, introductions would certainly be in order. As people began to gather up and converse, she moved to the head of the tables to address them quickly.

“Welcome!” She called, a kind smile on her face. “For those of you that don't know me, I am Celeste Rigel. I am so glad all of you chose to attend our get-together today. Please feel free to enjoy a bite to eat,” She motioned to the snack table. “And do consider making your own meditation charm, all of the supplies have been provided – let me know if you have questions, and I'm sure some of our Knight and Masters in attendance can be of service as well.”

With a slight nod, she had just one more announcement. “Also, please let me know if you are not in a clan are interested in joining! We have many exciting groups, all of them different but with their own set of skills.” Celeste motioned for everyone to continue.

[member="Seth Brackson"], [member="Jasper Candos"], [member="Holli Harper"], [member="Domino"], [member="Sky'ito Yumi"], [member="Reggie Faayare"]

Eustachya rose her unhooded head when she heard a greeting seemingly meant for her. Initially, she was confused, but then her expression brightened at [member="Seth Brackson"]. "Greetings," was all she got to say to him before [member="Celeste Rigel"]'s announcements caught her attention instead.

"Oh, are you a padawan as well?" she asked after the master had finished. The man looked too young to be a knight, or rather younger than any knight she had seen thus far. Rather, he looked to be a much more appropriately-aged learner than herself. "I am Eustachya Myrian," she said despite the answer, as surely an introduction would be in order whatever the case might have been.

Afterword, she rose her brows. "And do you wish to make an amulet as well? We could sit together."

The winged women seemed to be quite surprised by her being discovered, causing Sukai to chuckle a little, it reminded her of playing hid and go seek when young girl always funny to see her brothers shocked look when he was found. It was kind of nice to see child like innocents in this day and age when most Jedi were training for war and fighting that could come knocking on their door any moment.

As the women came out of her hiding location Sukai got a fully view of her features, the wings and over all appearance was certainly something new to her eyes. Majestic was one of the first words that leap into mind and the bird women's fully body, along with question on how she managed to get that tunic on.

Suki awaited words of some sort but was greeted by a sweet sound of music to begin with, the note mimicking that of a bird unsurprisingly, for a moment the knight contemplating if this girl was even capable of speaking in galactic basic. Fortunately comprehensible words excited the girls mouth, though it was not without the sweet and soothing melodic sounds that made it seem more like a song.

"Your people? well that is certainly unique, but it is a please to meet you Harper-san, are you here today as one of these chances to meet new people"? While she asked the question [member="Celeste Rigel"] made her announcement to those present welcoming them to today activates, the women being kind and helpful as she always was. "Well looks like things are starting, did you need some help in making your charm? I know a bit about crystal work and making amulets", she replied looking back to Holi, also showing the women her Healing Amulet http://starwarsrp.net/topic/128544-skyito-yumis-healing-amulet/ which hung around her neck.

[member="Holli Harper"]

When [member="Celeste Rigel"] gave her announcement speech. Seth blinked and momentarily gave his attention. Before he glanced down to the amulet kit and studied it. Then turned his attention back to the woman who he was attempting to get acquainted with.

"Yes, I am." Seth said in agreement to when she deducted he was a padawan. He listened as [member="Eustachya"] then went into introducing herself. Seth was a bit hesitant about providing his full name. Usually, having people have too much information about yourself, was relatively ill advised. Though Seth also factored he was no longer living off the streets. So, he had no reason to entirely act as such. "I am Seth Brackson."

He looked a third.. Or was it the fourth time to the amulet kit. Focusing on the crystal. Seth had never worked with crystals before. So, this was a bit different than what he expected. "I've a meditation focus from.. a person of my past. Though now I am a bit intrigued by how these are made." He expressed and nodded his head. He glanced to Eustachya once more and bowed his head softly. "I'd greatly welcome that idea."

[member="Sky'ito Yumi"]

Holli blushed slightly at having let out a note of her language - it had come out quite by reflex, quite by accident. It was a rude thing to do, to speak in a language that someone could not understand.

The girl before her was rather kind, a lovely young woman whose kindness and helpfulness knew no bounds - at least that's how it seemed to Holli.

"Rather. I'm afraid I have rather had difficulty meeting people, you see," she explained.

Much like a dove, she just couldn't seem to stop moving, her bright blue eyes flitting about in a nervous way - yet somehow innocent.

"I'd love that! I... um... I mean, I'd be honoured to make an amulet with you."

Reggie nodded when Celeste told him what he could do. He would make sure to be around if anyone needed help with their charms, and may even make one for himself. for now though, he'd look around and introduce himself to anyone he didn't know. Meeting new people was always something the Padawan enjoyed.

There were a few people he didn't know and would make an effort to greet them when the chance arose. One person he saw was [member="Domino"] who was standing near the crafting table. Reggie decided to go make introductions.

"Hello there, my name is Reggie. Would you mind telling me your name?"

Reggie bowed out of respect, something he usually did when greeting others. He also didn't know this Twi'lek, and therefore didn't know what rank or titles she held.

She had just been considering leaving verses barging into a conversation when a young man approached and introduced himself to her. "Ah hello Reggie," she returned the taller human's bow if a bit shallower than his, "I'm Domino." This was her first real interaction with one of the younger members of the order and she was interested to see how much of galactic history they were taught or how much they knew of their allies. Hovering around the little probe droid trilled its own beeping welcome to the Padawan.
[member="Reggie Faayare"]

"Hello my droid friend."

Reggie responded to the little droids beeping, surprisingly not noticing it before.

"I've never seen you before, so I thought i'd come say hello. Are you new here, or have I just been too with training and research not to notice you around the rest?"

The young man was asking to learn more about the Domino in his own way, while also giving a bit of information about himself. If the Padawan wasn't busy doing anything, he would usually be spending most of his time training and such. Reggie was being friendly and enthusiastic as always, having a pleasant smile on his face as he spoke.
